Changing create date in Web version

whj2

Idea

Just moved to a chromebook, so I'm copying in journal entries from DayOne2.  But they all get today's date.

I can see the creation date in Info on the note, but I cannot change it.  Is there another way.

Hi.  The creation date is not (yet) available for edit in the web version*.  You may like to do what a lot of experienced members do and add the date to the title - I have a text expander (Phrase Express) set up to give me today's date in yyyymmdd format (I have some old stuff on file) with one keypress - as 20170328 forinstance.  Put that at the start of your note title and sort by title for the 'correct' date order.

I also discovered,  when importing some emails,  that having an excel spreadsheet set up so I could copy and paste the 28 March 2017 'sent' date into one field,  and copy/ paste the corrected yyyymmdd format out of another was useful.  I think PhraseExpress could probably do something similar but have been too lazy to find out so far...

*new web version alleged to be coming soon(ish)

If I understand this correctly, there is no way to modify Creation Date in the web based EN.  Correct?  I sort my notes ONLY by date and seldom does creation date match the date I need.  Date in title doesn't solve that problem (best I can tell).  Does desktop EN allow modified creation dates?

I have a Mac and can modify Creation and Modifiction dates (no access to Subject Date)

Adjusting these dates  is not something I make a practice of

I specify Subject Date in the Title

Why not?  I 'bulk scan' items to a folder on my hard drive when I'm back at base,  adding a title in the process.  At the end of each officework day I'll OCR everything and dump it into an Import Folder.  The whole process kind've militates against tags,  and while I have several import folders for some specialised notebooks,  most of my imports go into my default notebook.  (I may well scan individual items during the say and add them to specific notes - they may also get tags..)

A typical note title is "20170601 receipt - asda cwmbran - groceries - 20170612141728.pdf"  1st June being the date on the receipt,  followed by <what it is *> - <who it relates to> - <what it's about>...  and the date/ time details added automatically by my scansnap.  (I really must get around to turning that off...)

The actual created date on that note is (normally) the same as the scanned date.

If I search for "intitle:receipt" and sort by date order (or add a date qualifyer) I can read through my list of receipt for a given day,  or store.

* "What it is" also includes letter / form / contact etc

Hey developers, get on top of this. Evernote web needs way more options to match up with the downloaded app. Otherwise make it faster to sync notes from Evernote for Windows. I always have to force quit the application since it takes too long to sync (18+ hours in fact. And even then the progress bar just barely moved..) One should be able to do something as simple as edit author and creation date from the web. You even have an information button, just let us be able to do it from there. That's not too hard to do as a developer.

Bump

I used the Windows client for years and was able to change the dates. I am now using the web and Android versions and neither has the option.

I like to keep my notes in order of last modified and both versions make it easy to accidentally make an edit. Sometimes the web version seems to register a modification just by me viewing the note. When this happens, my notes are out of order and I have no way to correct it.

I rarely adjust the dates.

As others suggested, I prefix the title with subject date.  This can be updated on all platforms.
