Avast Virus Alert

Recommended Posts

Hi y'all,

We're seeing some reports of Avast antivirus software alerting users on Mac of a virus or infection caused by Evernote. This is a false positive, you can read more on the Avast Forum here. Updating Avast to the latest version will help to resolve this issue.

Having the exact same issue and Avast shows as up to date for both the app and def files. Hope to see a fix soon Thanks.

Hi @randy_b,

Please try recreating your Evernote note index to resolve this.

If Evernote is not crashing:

  1. Open Evernote
  2. Hold the Option key down on the keyboard and click Help in the menu bar.
  3. Go to Troubleshooting and select Recreate Full Text Search Index.

If Evernote is crashing:

  1. Open Finder, then select Go > Go To Folder from the menu bar.
  2. If you have the Mac App Store build, paste: ~/Library/Containers/com.evernote.Evernote/Data/Library/Application Support/com.evernote.Evernote/accounts/www.evernote.com/ . If you have the direct download build, paste: ~/Library/Application Support/com.evernote.Evernote/accounts/www.evernote.com/
  3. Locate and open the numbered folder
  4. Locate and delete the folder called note.index
  5. Open Evernote

Following this instruction unfortunately didn't work:

  1. Hold the Option key down on the keyboard and click Help in the menu bar.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting and select Recreate Full Text Search Index.

The avast virus alert still pops up. I use the newest version of Avast and of Evernote.
What can I do?
