It is 2017. Why cannot I open a Word file, edit it and save it in Evernote for ios on  an ipad?

I took it to be an IOS limitation

On desktop platforms, I see the following steps done automatically

  1. The attachment is exported to a working folder
  2. Word edits the file in the the working folder
  3. Evernote recognizes the file has been changed and imports it, replacing the attachment

The best I've seen in IOS is using the share sheet for steps 1 and 2

Step 3 has to be done manually
