January 18 Update

Hi all,

Today we released v8.0.1 to address the following issues:

  • Inserting multiple images into a new note with no other content drops the images from the note
    • 8.0.1 stops this behavior and repairs notes that may have encountered this issue
  • From a note list, swiping on a note and tapping the delete button resulted in the note getting expunged instead of going to the Trash
    • 8.0.1 now sends the note to the Trash

We are currently focused on fixing the following issues to be part of 8.0.2:

  • From a note list, swiping on an empty note that was just created before the note is automatically removed resulted in the following note being deleted
    • Inadvertently deleted notes should be found in the Trash, but we are also fixing the initial bug
  • Top crasher
    • There is an issue with the thumbnail generation in the note list that may result in crash on launch, crash while scrolling note list, or crash on search.
    • The following have worked for users with various degrees of success: force quit and relaunch app (multiple times if necessary), rebooting device, deleting and reinstalling the app.

I like your very first point:  Turn off automatic upgrade

I'd like to emphasize this as a general rule.  No one should install upgrades without knowing details

Yup, but a bit of a pain. I have muscle memory to just "update all" in the App store. Now I am having to manually update individual apps careful not to update Evernote right now.

The presentation mode being gone from the mobile devices doesn't make any sense. I love Evernote and everything you do usually make sense to me but this?

As a ECL I encourage people to step away from clonky programs such as powerpoint and since we are heading to a tablet driven world, why would the presentation mode go?

I'd love some some insight so that I can explain fellow users in my community.

Many thanks.

Exactly my thoughts. The new user interface means, I can only view 6-7 notes on my iPad at once. Earlier using the cards interface it used to be 12 notes at once. That's almost half of what it used to be. Of what use is my 10 inch screen for evernote? My iPad has become a big iPhone when it comes to using evernote, which is a huge pisser and a deal breaker in terms of UI and usability. Moreover, they took away the presentation mode for ever, when the world has already moved to close to 13 inches iPads, which are excellent for presenting things to a small group of people on a round table conference. Removing it from the iPad is so stupid that I am at a loss of words to express my frustation. My other iPad's are never getting the new evernote updates!

me too, a Premium user.

I agree 100%, the iPad becomes much less useful for me with this new version, now I'm relegated to my laptop ! Very frustrating.

January 18 Update

    • The following have worked for users with various degrees of success: force quit and relaunch app (multiple times if necessary), rebooting device, deleting and reinstalling the app.

Not excited at all by this new version, especially for iPad, you've totally ruined my experience, and I'm very frustrated, disappointed, and mad !!!

This is very poor advice

I've been advising users to hold off on version 8 until it becomes stable,
but for those stuck in version 8 hell, you should upgrade to the most current release
(unless serious concerns have been identified)

The latest release notes are here

What's fixed in 8.0.2:

  • Fixed our top crasher - related to thumbnail generation in note list snippets
    • This surfaced as crash on launch, crash when scrolling a note list, or crash on search
  • Swiping to delete a newly created empty note will no longer move another note to Trash
  • Audio, ink, & file attachments are now inserted at the cursor position when editing a note
  • PDF annotation (Premium feature) is no longer disabled for some PDFs
  • Zooming in on an image in annotation no longer resets the size of the image on that screen
  • The app UI no longer gets stuck in an odd view when partially swiping back in Settings
  •

Not poor advice for me, 8.02 has fixed nothing for me. The iPad is usable as far as Evernote is concerned, after two more upgrades, 5 reinstalls it still crashes seconds after opening.

totally and utterly useless.

Had to delete and re-install the app on my iPad for the update, so at least now it opens. Next problem, choosing which two devices to use Evernote on. Problem is that the app identifies my iPad (current device) as an iPhone 6. So I select my current iPhone 6 and iPad, and it says I'll be signed out of my current device. Anyone know of this is an app issue or an issue in my Apple account?

Just updated the latest version today, still can't see the improvements for below two issues, which used to work perfectly from the previous v7.

  • Reminder Notes sorting by Upcoming and Overdue in each notebook.
  • Attached files from Dropbox in a note always go to the very bottom, which are not supposed to happen in v7, Dropbox files should be attached any places in a note.

Please fix!!!

I looked for alternative other than EN, and I found a useful one that integrates Google Keep with Google Drive.

As I'm already paying for 1 TB of Drive, I spent this weekend testing this combo.

It's good, but there is always something missing.
Furthermore you need more passages for what you can accomplish with just one tap on EN.

What I find really good about EN is that I can store text, images and PDFs (and other attachments) in the same note, where with Drive it's all about folders and subfolders.
i.e.: think about a PDF you want to keep the link of. With EN you create a new note where you put the PDF, plus links as text, along with some comments.
You cannot do this with Drive, and Keep is too basic for this.

So I opted to give EN Premium another year, as my annual subscription ends on April.

PS: with the 8.0.2 update it seems I'm able to annotate PDFs again.

A feature I'd like to see on EN:

when I read a PDF, EN keeps memory of the last page, so that when I come back it opens up at the last page I read before.

I store in EN PDFs with many pages, even 300 pages, and I always have to put a mark on the last page, and I have to search for that page when I go back to the PDF.

Such a feature would be very comfortable.

Sort by Note Title does not work on my iOS 10.2. That is, after selecting this option the Notes do not appear in alpha order, neither do they appear in date order.  They seem to be random. I assume this is a bug but maybe there is some control in this new version that I am not aware of?

I installed 8.0.2 on my iPad this morning and load time is worse. On 8.0.1 switching between notes and seeing the text, took 10 sec.  Now on 8.0.2 it's taking 15 sec.   I'm still an Evernote fan, but I'm being tested by the issues and functionality of rel 8. Most users are "totally dependent" on Evernote and Evernote no longer has the luxury of beta testing in the real, live world.

seems to be fine on iPhone 6.  All devices are updated to latest iOS

Hi!  I used the presentation mode on my ipad every week when speaking.  Being able to have the black screen & white text in presentation mode was very useful for me.  I hate to see that presentation mode for the ipad is no longer available!  Any chance it will be available in a later version?

I really don't like this new version. Why the "Home screen" would be useless ? On the contrary it was so convenient. One look at the screen and you saw last used notes, last notebooks and shortcuts.

Is it so hard to click on "Notebooks" or "Notes" to access the list ?

Fortunately, if you want to go back to the older version, it's possible (if the app in your Itunes is not updated). It's simple. You delete the updated app on your iPhone, then you plug it to your Mac. You open Itunes, click on "Apps" then "Library". There you'll find the Evernote icon. If there is a red corner on the icon with the word "update" on it, you just have to drag the icon on your phone (left side of the Itunes screen). That's it. The old version of Evernote is re-installed.

You'll have to log in and sync to get your content back.

What have you done... I had a nice organised, easy to find things app, now suddenly it is so 'streamlined' I have difficulty finding anything and the 'intro' completely left out how to navigate to the notebooks list. Eventually I found it by randomly stabbing at everything. It was also unclear how to get a full page note as opposed to the cramped column and there was no clear or easily found guide to the 'toolbar'.

Also, I prefer being able to pick up where-ever I left off, not be thrown back to a notes list. There seems no option for setting this.

An option to set something like 'last version mode of display' would be really nice. You really should include a proper detailed guide to all the new layout features for us users. You have worked on the new layout and it seems 'intuitive'. It isn't when it hits yu unexpectedly when you just want to look something up or make a quick note. Also I could not even skip the bits of the intro I did not want to use - it just stopped if I tried, leaving me unenlightened.

Fortunately I was backed up in iTunes and was able to revert to the previous version by delete and sync. Now I shall have to remember not to update it.

Yours, grumpy old user.

In my previous iOS version, I frequently used the "view all notes in stack" in the notebook list to 'overview' all notes in a stack. It is very useful for me to organize related notebooks in a stack and then get an overview of all content in the stack. That seems to have been removed from the new version. Since it was a link of the notebooks list in the prior version, I am assuming there is syntax that would let me build a saved search (i.e. stack:project x) for stacks that I use this feature on regularly. But, I can't find it. Any help appreciated before I start dismantling my stacks/notebooks structure. It still works this way on the desktop Mac version, but not iOS.  Also, submitted to tech support and they confirmed functionality is missing.

stack:xxxx works; use quotes if you have spaces

Thanks DTLow for the post.  I must have been making a typing error along the way in my quoted stack name.  I was able to build the search for all notes within a stack, save it, and create a shortcut.  I synced my iPhone 5 times without successfully bringing over the new shortcut, but closed the iOS App and restarted and it came right up.

I have definitely noticed the delay. On iPad Air 2 its around 3-5 seconds until a note populates. Also the note list judders and stutters while scrolling. On iPhone 7 the delay is about 1 second. However on v7 there was no delay at all.

Nice version on the outset but some major issues when looking at it closely:

1) When I want to attach a file from a cloud service like Dropbox or iCloud it now puts it at the end of the note and not like it used to at the place of the cursor.

2) Reminder List cant be sorted properly anymore like before. The choice there has been removed

3) I had a couple of notes that got corrupted when working on unstable or slow internet and had to restore them to the previous version.

4) There is a lot of white space that could be used to display the notes on the ipad on both the left and the right side.

5) Search does not always work. When I click on the note found on the left the content on the right switches to another note.

Hello,

I need a help with my evernote, I dissapear one of my note and when I checked the logs it says "10:47:05 [7504] 0% Expunged local note " unfortunately I can not find any trashes in my evernote.

I checked also access from website of evernote. Still I could not find this note.

Today I made updating from my mobile Evernote, that could maybe create a problem.

Can you please help me to find this note?

Thank you.

Are you able to roll back this update on a iPad to the previous version. The shortcomings for me are so significant, that this would stop me from using Evernote.

i like the new look and feel etc, but in note taking process, to tab, add comments , add bullets , add tasks etc is so cumbersome, that I can't use it as is .

thx

Finally got it done.

Turns out I just needed to adjust the settings in breakpoint by checking the boxes "request" and "response" in the breakpoint settings.

now back to Evernote 7

thanks

I recently sent a suggestion that you guys stop treating work chat like it's not really a thing. My team uses it constantly because we can keep our business conversations away from personal and of course, share notes.

Upon the new update every single one of my employees came to me to complain about how work chat has been buried inside the accounts area. Again, it seems like you guys don't want anyone to actually use work chat.

That said, they all really liked the update otherwise!

Great, when your app has been upgrade on your MAC or PC, I think your solution is the best to go back to an older version. If the app is not updated on the Mac or PC, you just have to delete it on the phone and then plug the phone to Itunes. there you drag the app on your Phone to re-install the old version. Thanks anyway.

So @kevoh, from your reaction to @DTLow's post, I assume that you were already unhappy that the iOS version of EN has never had encryption, and are now furious that the latest release does not include it either. From reviewing your post history, I don't see that you've ever posted anything expressing your strong views on this subject. Why the apparent outrage at this point in time?

Bring back presentation mode on iOS! I need a way to scroll through my notes on my iPad/iPhone without the chance of getting into edit mode.  I use this feature almost daily in speaking and teaching.  Not cool to take it away.

For three years I never had to speak to Evernote customer service. I have had to speak with them five times in the past two weeks.  Crashes, missing functionality, etc.  This is the third "feature" I have been told is available works on the mac/windows platforms but not on iOS. You are going to lose your market if you drive everything to only being available on desktops/laptops, and taking things away from mobile users.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree then. Many of the apps I use on a regular basis (including the browser where I am writing this now) have mastered the art of presenting a simple interface with the ability to select font sizes, styles, colors, etc. Even the plain text editors I use are more advanced in this respect. I am not requesting clutter. I'm requesting power and control over my data. All of these things can be done in an elegant manner. I recommend the developers keep a few of Edward Tufte's books on hand for inspiration.

The metadata request doesn't seem terribly burdensome or bloated. Again, other apps manage to do it. And, the inability to edit the metadata makes it impossible to do very simple things such as change the created date, change the author, or view the note history. All of these can be extremely useful, especially when you experience data loss and may not have access to your computer for days or weeks.

I'll take streamlined, too. In fact, as I said, I think they did just fine making the app beautiful. But, having functionality and elegant simplicity are not mutually exclusive. I could list many, many apps (including competitors) who strike a very nice balance (in my opinion).

But, fair enough. Let's agree to disagree. Let's say they streamline the app further and remove more features they deem unnecessary. OK. I'll support them. Just don't dump the app on users with no heads up. Instead of sending out marketing blurbs devoid of content ahead of a release, maybe let users know you're going to do X, Y, Z for "reasons." That'll give us time to prepare, even if we aren't too happy to be paying for an app that increasingly does less :(

Wow, Thanks, again, GrumpyMonkey!!! Amazing! Your clear thinking about these Evernote challenges, and your ability, and willingness to articulate thinks in clear, succinct, and cogent fashion are SO appreciated.

I actually have set up offline notebooks; I haven't seen any problems but I'm mostly online so possibly my offline data is never accessed.  I'll start switching offline to check my data

I'd think most IOS users would not be using offline notebooks.  In which case Evernote doesn't maintain much of an offline database

It seems that offline notebooks is "wort of" working; it just takes a very long time for the notes to download, and they don't seem to download unless EN is the active app. I turned off the sleep function on my iPads and iPhone and left them open overnight (connected to chargers), and it seems the notes downloaded.

BUT... search really doesn't work while disconnected from the internet, even if the notebooks are all downloaded. Every search displays a warning about "some notes may not be searchable offline"; and a search that would return over a thousand hits when online, might return only 4 to 5 when offline.

So while offline notebooks are available, they are pretty much useless. EN 7 seemed to support offline search just as well as online search.

I have a premium account on Evernote and I was very satisfied with the product until this update. On iOS (iPad pro) I found the home page too rigid in the presentation, I preferred the previous one where the choices were more complete. More importantly, it is much longer to see the content of the notes I wrote with my pencil when I pressed on left tab and the format showing my hand writing notes (on the right) is just too small. And for the first time with Evernote, I have lost parts of my notes, apparently not saved along my writings. This is quite annoying. Finally, a feature I liked much was the suggested titles for my notes which were mostly based on my calendar, I do not know why this feature was just removed, maybe just give options for it ? As opposed to what it is claimed, I do not find the top page more convenient, when you are taking hand writing notes you need to press several keys before starting to write down your notes. In summary, if i could return to the previous iOS version, I would have to hesitation to downgrade.

None of my apps appear in iTunes as I have chosen not to download them and have them take up a significant amount of hard drive space. They're always available for download from Apple. Now in the case of downgrading an app in situations like what's happened here with  EN 8.0, then my way does not give me that option.

I also download IOS apps over the air - no iTunes
For mission critical apps, following up with iTunes is a good idea as a backup
- IOS isn't too friendly on rollling back to previous versions
My group mostly just holds back on upgrades until everything shakes out

In fact, it's three clicks on iPad: "+", "hide keyboard", and "handwriting". It is not a drastic issue but just less efficient than previous version.

Can anyone explain why Presentation mode has gone from App?

can anyone suggest a plugin, or alternative which will do that function for me?

Lost without it, it was so good. Unlikely to keep subscription without that functionality which will be a real shame.

major issues with v8 for me (as a paid premium subscriber for 3 years)....

  1. now having to make two clicks on ipad to create bullet lists, number lists, or indents is frustrating as I take notes in meetings. I can't keep up because of the extra clicks!
  2. constantly being asked for iTunes sign-in when starting the app
  3. On occasion, Graphics in notes sync'ed from Desktop not showing up in my iPad notes?

overall, performance is slower with v8 on my iPad Air.

this was great app, always easy to use and fast! please bring back what it had! Please don't change for the sake of change. I'm not finding anything in v8 "better" for my purposes.

I agree 1000% !!!

Definately results in less productivity for a gratuitously simplified interface.

Even this simple web based discussion page editor which I'm using to write this comment is much more powerful !!!!

I do not like the update - it takes FOREVER to sync to my iPad Mini and half the time - the content of the note never shows up.   I miss the presentation mode - it was idea for quick business meetings using the iPad mini instead of lugging around other technology.   I miss the view bar on the side (like I have on the Mac) to filter by tag or notebook more quickly.   Not a fan of the update - and I've had to use Word (omg) files as back ups so I don't loose content.

Unfortunately, the home screen of the previous version of EN is no more. The app will open to the All Notes view unless it's still open in the background, in which case it opens to where you were when you pressed the home button. As far as other questions, fire away.

As @jim.g said, there is no option to make your tag screen your home screen
Not in the previous UI either; you only had the option to add a tag list to the bottom of your home screen

It's the trend for UI; the note list is the primary screen.
Notebooks/Tags/Reminders have been moved to secondary screens

In fact in the previous version, if you uncheck Shortcuts, Notebooks and if you slide up Tags in the Home screen customization, then you check "Show details" for Tags, your Home screen shows six tags. I think that's what's missing here. Among a lots of other things.

What happened to the alpha column on the right side of the All Notes screen?  I used to be able to tap on "T" to jump down the list of notes.  Now I'm forever scrolling or searching.   That's the biggest slow down of the new version.

From what I can see from the changes made in this iOS app update to my iPad you have removed Tags from the left hand menu bar.  I have searched in vane to find where my Tags have gone other than the aforementioned Account Settings section where I cannot even actually access the data within them.  Please tell me you have not removed Tags from the left hand menu selection and there is a way to restore them for selection and access just as before in all previous variants.  Tags are a critical way the information in Evernote is managed.  If I cannot access Tags from the main screen I am almost dead in the water in terms of the continued usefulness of your product.

New Information:  Okay, upon further exploration I have discovered you have embedded the Tags menu within the Notes section.  Having just learned this it is too early for me to know if this method will be as good as or better than the previous method of managing Tags for my purposes.  At first blush, and from the user's perspective, this change in the way Tags are handled seems clunky and backward; but, I will keep an open mind and work with this in the hope whatever logic you employed in designing this change reveals itself to me along the way.

Well, after trying the newest app update I've given up on Evernote after years of use and I'll be switching to Microsoft OneNote soon.  Over the past year I drank the koolaid and changed my entire Evernote data management structure to center around Tags.  This is what the Evernote blogs told me to do, this is what all the Evernote expert users advised was the best way to manage with Evernote.  So, after weeks and weeks of rearranging all my notes into dozens of logical Tag hierarchies I converted and started working within that system - on my iMac, my iPad and iPhone.  Then along comes this iOS update and completely blows the Tag management system out of the water and into the far backwaters of the process.  I have no clue what the people at Evernote were thinking when they made this change but they sure have invoked the rule of unintended consequences for me.   Because as a consequence of this one seemingly unexplainable decision I am departing their product (for which I pay them an annual fee) and converting to another provider who actually offer a much more robust product platform with many more features.  Sorry guys, you blew it for me, big time!

As a Premium member I was able to set my "Home screen". There, I put Shortcuts and Tag List, then Notebooks and finally Notes. "Notes" is the less important list. I don't want to get my list of notes as a "Home screen", it's silly. I'm really thinking about switching to another app. That's a pity.

It's subjective but the trend I'm seeing is the Note List is primary.
The various search options are suportive functions
It works for me; I also have my notes in update sequence, so the notes I'm working on are front and centre

I realize the "folder camp" thinks the opposite; the actual filing of notes is the primary function

Counter view.  Guaranteed the note I want to see is not on the note list when I open the app in IOS.  When I use the IOS app the first thing I want to do is find something.  The v7 home screen was more conducive to that.  I even tailored my shortcuts so the most used were first in line and appeared on that home screen.  One press and I had what I needed.  Now just about everything is more presses away than it used to be.

Not what one might expect when the release states "Evernote 8.0 is a complete redesign emphasizing speed and simplicity."  Not sure  who the target  audience was for that speed and simplicity.  I'm working through it, the world hasn't ended, but why make something take longer?  I always thought design was a combination of form and function.  /end of mini rant

Ken,

I experienced a similar problem with the release of v8 where I had a single note where the title, tags and date were available but nothing else. I managed to find I could view my missing table/data in the web and Mac versions. As of today, miraculously I can se the table/data in iOS. This was after I also submitted a trouble ticket and received zero feedback.

Have you tried the web version on a different computer?

I have no way to return to previous version than 8, I have consequently decided to switch to Onenote. It's far from being perfect but it does what Evernote does not anymore... I will probably abandoned my Premium subscription but I had the bad idea to pay for a year which finish in June 2017.

Bottom line up front (BLUF): I tried OneNote and hated it because I was so used to EN.

Best of luck to you in your migration. I'm an EN premium user and have been for a few years now. I have been trying all of the other note applications and I found EN to be the best one (for me) even with the cost of premium.

I tried a migration to ONE NOTE. I must say it mad me laugh. It didn't hold up well. I did not like the formatting and I felt that if you didn't have a crystal clear vision of how you wanted the note to look once you had inserted considerable data - you were going to have a lot of work ahead of you. In short - it has lots of features - to be too complicated and not very intuitive. I am sure that OneNote is a great application for some, by my systems for organizing EN were 'not transferrable' as much as I had hoped.

My recommendation (FWIW) is patience. EN is trying to improve, and slough it may not appear to be a win with v8, but sometime there are bumps in the road to success.

I can't agree more. I tried OneNote too and hated it, just because as long as I can keep the older version of Evernote, I think there is no better app. I've been a Premium user for 7 years, it will stop this year if the team of Evernote doesn't come back to something as usable and elegant as it was.

I've stayed on 8.0.3 due to the favorites bug in 8.0.4.  However, I just experienced a situation in which the iOS client reverted a note in the server to a 3 day old version when I opened it.  There was no attempted conflict resolution as far as I can tell. The app just over wrote what was on the server.  My confidence in this product is exponentially decaying.  At this point I don't think it safe to use the iOS app unless you have a premium account and can use note history.  Even in that case this is really unacceptable. In the last three weeks I have lost at least one important note and now I'm experiencing incorrect sink/update directions.

Is is possible there is something in this version that is causing the prompt to come up for me to sign into my iTunes account when I launch the app? I'm getting this prompt a lot, and it is only happening when I launch Evernote, and I am definitely already logged in (I've not only logged in several times, but my apps update without me having to log in). I feel like it is something with the Evernote app that is causing this to pop up repeatedly for me. Is this possible?

It's a known issue, and they're looking into fixing it

I've just been hitting cancel.

I'm looking forward to the next patch to solve the iTunes prompt issue

Not sure losing the home screen, presentation mode, and sorted reminders within notebooks are going to be easy to embrace, just saying.

That is a very fair assessment.

Personally, although I was taken aback at several of the changes, im one of the lucky few who uses my EN premium account in a way that these changes didn't limit me near as much as many who have voiced their concerns in the forums.

My notebooks, note names, tags and stacks are all working fine within the new format.

Althought I would agree with many that there seems to be no speed increase.

It's not perfect, it's perhaps not better. But it's different and I'm giving it a try. For me, it's working 'as well' as the other version. It just needs a bit of a boost for me to say there is any improvement.

Definition   Embrace -  accept or support (a belief, theory, or change) willingly and enthusiastically.

ok, maybe tone it down a bit         Resigned; but I'll make it work

Except for things like Presentation Mode.....:)

I feel your pain with the iTunes prompt. When I first had the issue I submitted a ticket. Then prompted them that there was no reply to my ticket after week. But I highlighted my question that I'm riding out a free year of premium right now (thank you EN points system!) so is the iTunes prompt less of an EN issue and more of a "hey, iTunes here; you used to give us your money for EN, we notice you aren't doing that...can we have your money now?"

In short, im wondering if everyone, no matter if they pay through iTunes or not, is getting the prompt.

Stacy,

many many people are complaining about experiencing this prompt.

Without providing any personal details, im wondering:

1. What type of EN account donyou have (Free or paid), and

2. If you have a paid account, do you pay through iTunes or directly to EN?

the reason I ask is im presently using premium paid for by EN points (?) and I'm wondering it we can narrow down and connecting to why the prompt is happening.

After writing last week that I was so frustrated with this recent abrupt and seemingly thoughtless update that I was converting all my EN data to Microsoft One Note I did just that.  The actual conversion took very little time.  Spent the next several days working to wrap my head around One Note's methodologies and learning how to work with my existing data structure within that system.  I must say, I have become very impressed with One Note as a result of this experience.  I used to say the reason I was so loyal to Apple was that all their products simply "worked" and worked with elegant form and function.  Well, I can't go so far as to say that One Note is completely Applelike in terms of form and function, but it is a very feature filled product that appears to have a whole lot more going for it than Evernote does.  I'm moving forward and not looking back.  Like I said in my previous post, I was forced into this act by the rule of unintended consequences.  I wasn't looking to make a switch but the necessity of doing so was pressed upon me by the absolute absurdity of the complete disembodiment of some of the crucial features that had become essential to using EN prior to this last update.

I'd be concerned about how to convert out of One Note - they don't seem to have an easy export.  I wouldn't want be locked in an app.

Microsoft provides a Evernote to Onenote converter, it is quite straightforward to use. I did the transfer without a flaw. For sure, onenote and evernote have a

completely different philosophy in classifying notes. So, the organization of imported notes are a bit messy. I feel the organization of notes in Onenote a little rigid, but the easy mixing of text and handwriting in notes, and the possibility of annoting any files in Onenote is quite attractive to me.

Try annotating something in OneNote with arrows, circles, and stuff. Then insert stuff above the section you annotated.

I use ON *EVERY* day at work as part of our Office 365 account, but I use Evernote to annotate then stick the final image in OneNote, and I just suck it up that my work notes are not taggable where you can filter/search by tags, you cannot sort notes, and about 20 other issues.

  • Reminders enhancements

What's not returning:

  • Home screen and home screen sections - primary navigation has been moved to the tab bar
  • Presentation mode - this will still be available on desktop clients
  • Suggested note titles
  • Note "draft" mode
    • In v7, when you created a note you needed to save it. If you tapped cancel, you'd have the option to delete or save.
    • In v8, when you create a note, you tap done to save the note. If you decided you didn't want the note, you can delete it. This should cut down in inadvertent data loss.

What is the minimum IOS version required?

I hate your crappy update. You removed the versatility and customization options.

I hate the way it works. I hate the view you gave me. I don't use the online version because you neutered it. I will be changing to OneNote and cancelling my subscription unless you get your act together and give us the alternate home page and colors we used to have before you screwed over your customers.

The major issue I have is with the Outline function.  Burying the ability to change levels and indent a screen deep and then on a widely spaced out sparse area and then needing to switch back into ABC mode for each line of an outline is ridiculous.  I have thousands of meeting notes in outline format and this is nearly a deal breaker.  I often use an apple pencil and a handwriting conversion app on an iPad Pro and this has turned smooth outlining into a rewardless distracting minigame.

Please enhance the Edit Bar with More features instead of dumbing it down and hiding features that should be "one-click".  Please.

The inability to sort in reverse order for notes is a really big pain in the a _ _.  I name my notes with the date first, using the ISO date format (yyyy-mm-dd).  This enables me to sort the notes quickly by date of the meeting.

BUT, your app now puts all those notes at the bottom and it is really painful to scroll all the way down there to see recent meeting notes.

Please endeavour to address this soon.

Sorry to say that ... I've been waiting for a fix to V8 user interface on IOS. Current functions are really not satisfactory to me. How can I switch back to V7 .... it was great! In the mean time I want my money back  for the period EVENOTE has been significantly below expectations.
