HLRatan 0 Posted October 19, 2016 So how do I get this done? Move a notebook into a stack? Currently I log onto the web and then do it.. Share this post Link to post

TheJude 3 Posted February 1, 2017 I thought that once I switched from a PC to a Mac I would love Evernote even more! But, it's the opposite, I'm frustrated! What happen to convenience? Like HLRatan asks...why can't I drag a notebook into an existing stack in the sidebar? AND why can't I create a new notebook in a stack by right clicking on the stack? I used to be able to do both of these simple tasks on my PC!! What gives Evernote?? Share this post Link to post

TheJude 3 Posted February 2, 2017 DTLow...thanks for responding. I finally did figure that out but my question remains why it is such an awkward task. As I said in my original post, in the PC version it's quick, simple, and intuitive. 1 Share this post Link to post
pdadoc2 5 Posted February 24, 2017 As a premium user, this has been one of my biggest frustrations. I frequently crate a new notebook in a stack. On a PC, this is easy- just right click on the stack and the option to create the new notebook in the stack appears. On a Mac, there is nothing there! I hate having to go to Notebooks view, find the stack I want, and THEN finally control click to add a notebook to the stack. PLEASE bring this functionality to the Mac! 2 Share this post Link to post
TheJude 3 Posted February 25, 2017 I find many Evernote tasks on a Mac very frustrating and counterintuitive. 1 Share this post Link to post
ARP 1 Posted March 6, 2018 I just went from PC to Mac and loss of this functionality is a game changer. Please fix. 1 Share this post Link to post
steadyeddie23 1 Posted March 12, 2018 I echo this frustration. I used to be able to drag and drop on the Mac and now I can't find the option to combine a new folder into an existing stack. Why? 1 1 Share this post Link to post

Nick Mac User 2 Posted March 23, 2018 When you work across platforms on the same product it shouldn't be this hard and certainly not worse when working with it on the Mac but it is! Come on Evernote sort this out please!! 2 Share this post Link to post
TheJude 3 Posted March 27, 2018 When I switched to a Mac over a year ago, I was looking forward to see how Evernote would be even smoother than it was on my PC. Boy, was I disappointed. Evernote is frustrating to use now...even considering leaving it. I don't understand...wasn't Evernote originally built for a Mac platform? Maybe I'm wrong about that. Not sure. 1 Share this post Link to post
Heidalt 2 Posted April 4, 2018 I echo above frustrations. I am making do but it's only a matter of time before I make the switch if this trend continues. 1 Share this post Link to post
vidapura 1 Posted September 11, 2018 I have a workaround for this. Log in to the web interface. Then in the web interface go to notebook view and you can then drag a notebook to a stack. If you then click on the sync button in the mac app you'll see the changes. Not ideal.. but it works... Share this post Link to post
bcw2827 1 Posted September 13, 2018 @DTLow response is correct (i.e. accessing the "Notebooks" functionality and right-clicking on a notebook to expose the menu) and works in the Mac app. However, the interface is not intuitive and the sidebar must be minimized (not hidden or expanded) in order to access the notebook functionality (and only by left-clicking on a notebook does the "Notebooks" functionality appear, right-clicking displays a menu that does not include "Add to stack..."). This is menu when right-clicking on an expanded sidebar notebook: This is the menu when right-clicking on a minimized sidebar notebook: I agree with many of the commenters here: the available functionality and navigation in the app (at least in a Mac) is not intuitive and I am frequently forced to Google answers to seemingly simple tasks (for example, adding a notebook to a stack). There may be constraints that are limiting interactivity, but revisiting the UX and either delivering consistent right-click functionality across all sidebar states or removing right-click functionality and simplifying in-app navigation to provide access to these features would, in my opinion, improve user experience and reduce user frustration. 1 Share this post Link to post
CraigWall 0 Posted October 9, 2018 I also find this incredibly annoying. It used to be very easy. I'm also a Mac user. Why is there no button on the toolbar that opens the Notebook page? It should be there given how important the function is. Once I'd found it in the "View" menu, it was easy, - but FFS!, put the icon somewhere on the toolbar Evernote! Share this post Link to post

Joanna_Dobson 0 Posted October 23, 2018 I just can't make this work. I am using Mac OS Mojave. I have the latest Evernote update. I just want to move a notebook into an existing stack. From the Notebooks page (the one headed My notebook list), I have tried dragging and dropping as I used to with a Windows computer; dragging and dropping while holding down the cmd key, and dragging and dropping while holding the ctrl key. Have also tried while holding down the alt key. Every time it's the same - the notebook won't move, and quite often it just opens. I am using the web-based version. Perhaps you can only do it with app? This was never a problem with a Windows computer, though. Share this post Link to post

The drag-and-drop process is done on the Notebook page. You don't have to use drag-and-drop On the notebook page, right click on the notebook > Add To Stack >>I am using the web-based version. ColW 0 Posted October 23, 2018 I just signed up for the free version of Evernote to see if it will suit my needs. I created two notebooks and I am unable to drag one onto another to create a Stack. I've read the instructions and watched youtube videos with no luck. Is this option only available with paid Evernote subscriptions Quote ? Share this post Link to post
DTLow 3,406 Posted October 23, 2018 The Stacks option is not restricted to any account level. Did you see the instructions prior to your post Share this post Link to post
ColW 0 Posted October 23, 2018 I did see the instructions. They weren't working. I read another comment about the web beta version not working. So I found an older version and now the stacking is working. Thank you. Share this post Link to post
kdforEvernote 0 Posted February 1 It's easy to get to the "notebook view" and once there you can "right click" aka control-click to open a notebook inside a notebook You can just do step one below then drag an existing notebook to the stack you want, or do this: tap Command-option-2 to go to notebook view select the notebook where you want to create a stack, or the stack where you want to locate the new notebook control click, on that stack or notebook choose the first option "Create a new notebook in...." to exit notebook view just click anywhere in the sidebar I agree a better user experience would allow one to move a notebook to a stack in the sidebar; that SEEMS like how it should work.
