I am a writer and I really wish that Evernote would work on making the app more friendly for for writers. This is a huge market that is always looking for new tools. As I do a lot of my work on a Chromebook, I rely on the web version much more than the mobile or desktop versions. I have used Evernote in the past for quick drafts and it works well for that purpose. However, it would be really great if Evernote would optimize it for writing workflows. Adding word and character counts would get a great first step. Additional features like a timer, word goal tracking, etc. would also be greatly appreciated. Look at writing tools like Scrivener if you need other ideas for features. Any other writers feel similarly?
As a writer, I use Evernote for all my notes for writing. I've been waiting patiently for Scrivener to complete their iOS version, but it's very slow going, and they hardly provide any updates on progress. What would we need to use Evernote as a writers tool? 1. Nested stacks. - We need to be able to put stacks (or folders) in stacks. 2. Duplicate notebook names. - Currently you can't create two notebook stacks and have "Outline" as a notebook name in each of them. 3. Outline view - With nested stacks, it would be nice to have an outline view, with "preview text" 4. Manual Sort - Be able to sort notes, sub-stacks manually Yes, I can limp along and use Evernote now, but a few additional features can make the process easier. Here is the layout of what I'd like to be able to do. Great American Novel - Stack Outline - Notebook Section 1 - Note Section 2 - Note Drafts - Notebook Chapter 1 - Note Chapter 2 - Note Characters - Notebook John Doe - Note Jane Doe - Note Notes - Stack Story Ideas - Notebook Note 1 - Note Images - Notebook Image 1 Image 2 Locations - Notebook USA - note Final - Notebook Chapter 1 - Note Chapter 2 - Note Feel free to add to this concept. I know there are a lot of people out there waiting for a great writing tool. Thanks
As a blogger I love love love evernote's ability to let me take notes on the spot, access my previous notes, organize and maintain consistency on all my devices. I don't know about you all but it used to drive me nuts to have to search slide, and search through my apps to open it when I had a brilliant idea, saw something go by I wanted to write down etc. I got this app for my android called 2click. Its SO GREAT. I just choose evernote as my 2click and I can grab my phone and double click whenever I get an idea, see something I want to remember, hear something I need to write down, and evernote opens instantly! Just thought I'd share. Its made my life so much easier. Check it out : http://2clickapp.com/
