  1. This should not be too hard to add. Please, can you make it possible, that I can color code my notes for better organization. Thank you, Kind Regards
  2. I'd like Evernote to enable creating an Evernote email for a specific notebook. Use case: I forward all financial mail to the "Financial records" notebook. I want to directly send them to the respective notebook, as opposed to having to move them from the default "Inbox" notebook to the the "Financial records" notebook. I appreciate you considering my suggestion. Hope to get a response from the Evernote Team as to whether the aforementioned feature will be added. Best regards, Kitezh47
  3. I use Penultimate on the iPad with the Apple Pencil. It syncs with the Evernote service and the iOS app just fine, but of course in the main Evernote app, the notes are read-only. That's OK, but why on earth can't that 'read only' message include a link using a standard URL scheme that takes me back to that particular note in Penultimate? "Click here to edit this note in Penultimate." Seems like only a few hours of coding to me, unless I'm missing something.
  4. Seems random that we can't add shortcuts just because we didn't personally create the note. Makes it hard for businesses who use Evernote on a daily basis for projects, processes, etc.
  5. I am writing on behalf of a client who loves Evernote and is extremely tech savvy, but is finding some hiccups in his workflow. Thought I could share his feedback in case it will help others as well. He wants to be able to scan photos or documents in bulk, give them all a title and appropriate tags, then have them all saved as individual notes. He does not mind them all having the same title (or he will take the time to adjust the individual titles once they all have the same tags and naming convention. He just does not want to have to scroll in a very long note to find the attachment he wants. This would be in the Evernote app directly or through Scannable or Scan Snap.
  6. I just updated to Version 6.12.1 (455453 Direct) for Mac a few minutes ago, and I'm very unhappy. I can't find any setting in the preferences options or in the view menu to allow the sidebar to show both personal and business notebooks at the same time. This is terrible and beyond frustrating for me. I have notebooks that I use to collaborate with employees and co-workers in my business account that are shared with one or two other business users, and I also have personal notebooks that I use for business purposes but want separated from my business account so that our IT folks can't access them (either by accident or by being nosy). I switch back and forth between these notebooks many times per day, often during a single meeting or teleconference, so that I can record info in the appropriate place. Now I have to select personal or business BEFORE I can even see the notebook I'm after. This added time is unacceptable when you're trying to jot a quick note down in the middle of a conversation that's quickly moving on to another topic. Sometimes I'm at my desk with 2 screens and could just open both notes in separate windows, but often I'm on a laptop in the airport, car, etc. and can't do this. Please add the ability to combine all notebooks, or even better to choose which notebooks to combine, on the sidebar. Or just add an option to integrate the personal and business views like they were in 6.11.1. I found the corresponding change on my iPhone equally disturbing, but I rarely use the iPhone app. Now that this has spilled over into the Mac app, I'm stuck. I haven't looked into it just yet, as it's only been a couple of minutes, but I'm guessing I'll have to try to revert to 6.11.1 in order to get my necessary functionality back. I hope that's possible. Please fix this. I love Evernote and use it all the time, but this is killer.
  7. Another feature request in this forum suggests that Notebooks should become hierarchical. I disagree with this because tags can already be hierarchical. The problem as I see it is that Evernote doesn't encourage or allow for an easy way to view tags and their hierarchy. An example of where a tagging system works very well to me is Gmail. Gmail allows an email to exist within different tags just like Evernote. However it also offers a sidebar where you can view a tree-structure of tags (parent and child tags). Since Evernote effectively encourages the use of tags as descriptors, most of us probably have too many tags that are disorganized. This is one of the biggest weaknesses of tagging and using tags poorly. I do the same. So from that perspective, my idea may not sound appealing. However if there could be a way to have a tree view of tags in the sidebar, I believe it would encourage more careful use of tagging and allow notebooks to remain untouched.
  8. Please could a rule-based automation workflow be built into Evernote The idea is to use Evernote's OCR ability to identify a situation like: - If a Cabinet of a certain name exists and to then take an action, - If a receipt or expense is identified then to take an action, - If a statement is identified then to take an action, Actions that could be performed are: - to apply a TAG, - to OCR again and identify data like Date, Vendor, Amount, Currency, - to OCR again and identify Statement Date, Vendor, Date Range of statement, - to move the note to a particular Cabinet, - ...
  9. Greetings, I've been using Evernote for a few years and recently I started to deal with recurring dates for projects. For me, a downside of Evernote is the lack of recurring reminders. I tried two apps with the reminder function, Todoist and Google Keep. However, Todoist locks the feature for its Premium users, which is a major reason for me to look for something else, since I already pay for the Premium version of Evernote. I found in Google Keep a solid app to use in integration with Evernote, specially because of its robust reminder function, with a lot of possibilities to set recurring reminders. My basic workflow has Evernote as a main repository of tasks, with linked notes stored in separate main planning notes, for each project. Now, with Keep, based on the planning I did with Evernote, I set the weekly and monthly reminders to remind me of important deadlines, tasks and events related to those projects. I can say it works like a charm. I wanted to know other ways to integrate and fully implement productivity workflows with Evernote and the recurring reminder function of Keep. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. gcg79
  10. Has EN updated their PDF handling on iOS at all? I'm trying premium this year to see how it works for me. Since I like using Notability so well for my meeting notes, I created a workflow to append a meeting notes EN note with the PDFs that I export it. I can see my notes inline on PC, but iOS still just shows the attachments when I view on my iPad. If EN doesn't have native support, has anyone figured out any nifty work-arounds? for something similar?
  11. Is it correct that you cannot annotate an individual note in EN for the web? I know you can it do in EN for Windows. I don't know about EN for Mac. More generally, is there any "help page" that lists: Which EN features are available only on EN for Windows but not on EN for the web? and which EN features are available only on EN for the web but not on EN for Windows? Knowing all the various platform feature differences would help me as I develop a "workflow" to process about thirty-thousand notes.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm really excited to announce an app we have been working extremely hard on for the last year! The app is called Tuskify and can be found at https://www.tuskify.com. Tuskify is currently in beta and is an integration with Evernote that allows you to automate the way you organize your notes. For example if you regularly move notes with all checkboxes complete to your "Done" notebook, we can do that automatically for you. Tuskify allows you to check your notes for specific conditions. These conditions are called "Triggers", and when they occur one or more "Actions" that you specify are performed. In the example above, the trigger is the checkboxes being set to complete and the action is moving the note to the "Done" notebook. The trigger and action above form a "recipe" and a recipe can contain multiple triggers and actions. We are currently looking for a number of beta testers before we go public with this. If you are interested please sign up for a free 7 day trial by visiting Tuskify. We want to make this the best it can be so we want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly, including the cunning ways you found to break it! You can get in touch with us by: - using the Support form - emailing us directly at support@tuskify.com - direct message on this forum - tweeting us @Tuskify We aim to reply to all communication within 2 days, but please keep in mind that further investigation may be required which could take longer. Please be assured that we will reply to everyone's comments. We're excited to hear what you think! N.B. Recipes are run against notes that you create or update. For example, if you add a recipe that looks for notes with the word "testing" in the title, any notes that you then create or update with "testing" in the title will be picked up by this recipe. Time-based recipes are the exception to the above. Rather than being triggered by a created or updated note, these recipes are triggered by the passing of time, such as a reminder on a note becoming due.
  13. It would be awesome if I could just see the thumbnail of the note in the task-bar because sometimes I have like 30 notes and while the counts goes up the task-bar change and I keep pressings in wrong notes until I find the right one, I can keep doing it but it would be a time saver. Thanks for reading.
  14. Hi There are a few tools around already to help send email messages into Evernote. The basic idea is simple; if you are using Evernote as your GTD or task tracking system, you want an easy way to throw emails into Evernote and get rid of them from your Inbox. Many of these tools require a third party application in order to set the shortcut key. I've written an Automator action for Mac that runs as a "service", which in normal peoples terms means you can easily set a shortcut cut for this in System Preferences. Here's a link to my documentation about it: http://goo.gl/WIXG3x This Automator action is very specific (but can be easily changed if you know Applescript), it will: Use the currently selected emails in Mail.app to... Create evernote notes for each selected email and then... Move each selected email to the "Archive" folder of the appropriate Mail.app account, finally setting it's background to blue (so you know it was moved into Evernote)It's simple, but super effective - and one cool idea is that the Evernote note retain a link back to the original email message. You can download the Automator action, and install this by following the instructions here. Happy Evernote'ing! -- John Clayton
  15. Does anyone have experience creating forms or templates in Evernote and using them to standardize data collection? I'm investigating better photodocumentation tools to improve how we conduct our business. I'm interested in user experiences and also to talk to a developer.
  16. Hi I'm relatively new to EN and have just started to make more use of it for storing PDFs. Let me describe my scenario Browse the web for a travel guide, click the link andOpen the pdf travel guide in its own safari tabWhat is the best way to get this PDF into its own new note (default notebook) with the appropriate tags Options seem to be Save pdf file to the Mac then create a new note and attach\drag the file, tagging it accordingly - then go back and delete the downloaded PDF, or Save pdf file to the Mac then share the file to EN, but then I have to go into EN to tidy the title of the new note and add the tags - then go back and delete the downloaded PDF, or Save pdf file to the Mac then email the file to EN, I can specify the note title and tags (I cannot create a new tag, can I?) then go back and delete the downloaded PDF. Is there a better way? Can I get the pdf straight from Safari into EN without saving the pdf to my Mac? Thank you for your help
  17. Hi all, I have been using Evernote for the last few months as my teaching planner. I teach a 5 period day 5 days a week, I have a workflow that *nearly* works and am sure there must be a way to automate some of it, so thought I would ask! Firstly I have a set of notebooks - one for each class I teach, i.e. Class_1 Class_2 Class_3 I then have a notebook called weekly timetables, in this notebook I have a note for each week I teach. Each of these notes follows a template which contains my teaching timetable. i.e. A 5*5 table, with the name of each class in each cell. I then make a note for each lesson in the class notebooks, with a title that represents the date the lesson will be taught, and the name of the class: In class_1 notebook: 5/1/14 - Class_1 6/1/14 - Class_1 In class_2 notebook: 6/1/14 - Class_2 Lastly I then paste note links of these class notes into the weekly planner in the relevant cell. Once this is all set up I have a diary where I can click on the note link for any day to get a note relevant to that lesson in which I can do my planning. My problem is that setting all of this up takes a fair bit of time, and so I am liable to make mistakes. If anyone can understand what I am doing, can anyone suggest automated methods to improve the set up? Any ideas?
  18. Like many people, I find myself opening zillions of tabs every time I do a new research project. Then I don't know what to do with them, and they clog up and slow down my browser for days at a time. There are many good solutions out there, like Session Manager, TooManyTabs, etc, but I prefer to keep everything in Evernote. What would be super-awesome would be a way to use the clipper to copy every tab URL in my current window to an Evernote note. Until that feature is introduced, I have come up with a pretty decent work-around: 1. Send Tab URLs. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/send-tab-urls/ This addon allows a list of open tabs, including titles and URLs, to be sent to the clipboard. Just go to Firefox's File menu to find the first step, choosing "Send Tab URLs" and then choosing the clipboard as your destination. After that, they can be pasted into a note. (If you have the Windows Evernote app running, you can simply do a Ctrl-Alt-v to paste to a new note.) Bonus: Send Tab URLs also saves the titles of the tabs. 2. Multi-Link Paste and Go https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-link-paste-and-go/?src=api When I want to get a collection of URLs out of a note and back into the browser, I use this extension. Just copy the list of URLs (Ctrl-c) and then paste into Firefox's address bar using the special Ctrl-Shift-v command added by the extension, and each one will open in its own tab. Magic! It doesn't matter if non-URL text is mixed in--it will ignore the "garbage" and only open the URLs--so the titles inserted by Send Tab URLs won't hurt anything. You can even have miles of note text in there, and it won't mind. This means that a quick Ctrl-a (Select All) and then Ctrl-c (copy) will do the trick if you want to open every link in a note. Score! :-) If you prefer to use the mouse to get the URL list back into Firefox, there is an extension called URL Lister which will let you paste the list into a box. (Look under the Tools menu.) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/url-lister/ (URL Lister is also good for getting Tabs out of Firefox, but it doesn't list their titles, so Send Tab URLs might be preferable for that task.) Have fun!
  19. Could you please setup a better naming system for Screen Clips. When I drag them onto my desktop I always have the problem that they all have the same name. I have to rename before I can drag each one. And the Attachment saving dialog is painful because it starts you out at My Computer. I would prefer a name that is contextually specific and unique. For example: MicrosoftWord_LetterToJohn_140923_1308.png That's easy right?
  20. Hi All, I'd like to implement a specific workflow using Gmail and Evernote, but don't know if it's possible. Here's the ideal scenario... 1) Receive an email 2) Apply a specific label (say "test") 3) If the email has been labeled with "test", then I'd like to forward the email to a different email address 4) *For Extra Credit *...When forwarding the email, I'd like to append a static text string to the end of the subject line Here's what I'm wanting to accomplish with this workflow, in case anyone has an alternate suggestion... I want to use Evernote for an (alternate) Gmail Archive. If I receive an email that I want to save to Gmail, I'd like to be able to quickly apply a label ("Gmail Archive"), and then have Gmail automatically forward the email using my Evernote email address. Additionally (this is the extra credit step 4), I'd like to append "@Email Archive" as the name of my Evernote notebook, so that the email is automatically routed to the appropriate notebook. Any suggestions or alternate workarounds would be appreciated. Also also, I use Sparrow as my Gmail client. I'm assuming that any rules applied based on labels (assuming this is even possible) would work in Sparrow as well as the Gmail web client? Thanks in advance for any suggestion! David
  21. Hi - I'm looking for ideas for work-flows/best practices for handling "comments on notes". My situation: I use a shared Evernote notebook with each of my clients to collaborate on drafts. It works sweet, we just change the text color as we add our revisions. This works great. What we lack though, is the ability to "ping" each other that something is ready, or to ask a question outside the drafts. (This is both a functionality problem - but also a perception/confidence problem. Since I live in Evernote, I always get the Notification feed that something's been updated and I go & look, but clients - some of whom are new to EN - aren't sure "how to let me know".) I'd love to find a workflow solution that stays internal to Evernote, because any chat/comment solution is a 800 pound solution and I don't want to onboard people to another system just for this. I was thinking of a separate note, pinned to the top, called Comments for Karen, or something like that, but wanted to see what crowd-sourcing would uncover as far as formatting or best-practices. I've looked through KustomNote to see if there was a template that covered this, and didn't see any that gave me ideas. Maybe there's a workflow idea using Reminder dates? Anyone solved this to their satisfaction and willing to share? Thank you! Karen
  22. I'm making increasing use of folders to organize my separate projects. Within these, however, I will constantly add clips from web, notes for bigger assignments within that project or source material. The result is that my most important working notes become lost in the list. My suggestion is for an option that allows a note title to be highlighted. I am thinking of how Mac folders work, with multiple colors. For now one color would be sufficient. Even if I make a note a favorite, it does not change the formatting of the title sufficiently in my list for quick identification or access. I didn't expect this to be such a challenge, but when working with source materials the note names start sharing certain words. They become subtle differences of each other and therefore very difficult to pull apart. Another option for solving this would be to add a field in the note list frame. In the same way you can add 'Sync Status' alongside 'Updated' and 'Title', you would be able to add 'Starred' or a 'High Priority'. This would allow for a quick re-ordering of the list between high-priority (working files), medium-priority (support fragments of writing) and low-priority (source material).
  23. I'm trying to get proactive with my Evernote security. I'm taking steps to protect my info. Evernote is such a good system, but I feel much better if I can know that as much of my data as possible is protected. Now that I have two factor authentication enabled, I feel much better, but I still believe that my sensitive info deserves encryption. I have begun the practice of encrypting these files before I upload them. While it takes away the search functionality of evernote, its an easy enough workaround to make it searchable by just adding the right tags and notebooks. My Laptop workflow works like a charm. Doxie Go Scanner-->Import-->Local Encryption-->Export to Evernote. I'd like to have the same ease when I import PDFs onto my iPad, but the problem is, I cannot seem to find a way to encrypt a PDF on iOS. Good Reader does allow you to protect files within Good Reader, but as soon as they are exported to Evernote, it seems they lose their protection. My question is: Does anybody know a way to encrypt PDFs on iOS and export them to Evernote? Thanks, -S
  24. Hi guys, I would like to achieve the following and, before spending any money, I would like to know if the following is possible. I am taking a lot of notes for my work. The issue is that I am unable to access Evernote at work (forbidden) and I am unable to send work related information with my mail. So to create my daily notes, I have been recording whatever I want to remember on a Word file, I have been printing it and I was creating my notes home by typing the content I have been typing already. THis is the best solution I found, as before I was typing my notes using a Wireless keyboard on my iPhone.... Both solutions are highly inefficient. So what I would like to do is the following: Keep on typing my notes on word everyday.Print the document at the end of the day.Scan it home, not in a PDF format but directly in an editable note. So basically, I create a note from the paper I have been printing.I will do the formatting by myself, but it should not take me much time. Is it possible to do this? Do I need to have a premium account? Which scanner do you recommend? Thanks in advance for your help, T.
