  1. Dear Devs On the iPhone, could we add a "recently used TAG" list when adding a TAG to a note? This would be very useful, by not having to type something to find the TAG it saves effort and by not having to tap the "+" and scrolling to find the tag it will save time. Here is a screenshot of the area I am suggesting the "recently used TAG's" would be added: https://thesecretweapon.tools/temp/20171229-recently-used-tags-location.JPG
  2. I've been using Evernote for awhile now and think that the user interface could use some improvement. Here are some ideas I've had that I think would make the program just a little bit easier to use. Some of these might be particular to me. Make the icons for tag, notebook, and note more distinct from each other. Right now, at least for me, I have to stare at them for a little while to tell which is which. This would be especially helpful in the shortcuts list. Provide color-based cues that users can specify. Let us choose colors for notebooks, or perhaps colors for notes, so we can scan through long lists more quickly. It would be great, for example, if I could color a note red so I know, for example, that it's important. In note snippets in the snippet list, at minimum, list the notebook that the note is in. It's frustrating when going through the All Notes view and not knowing which notebook a note is in until I actually click on a note. IT's not hard, but I tend to skim and scan and the interface could be improved with regard to that. More hierarchy! I realize this is something that people have been asking for for years, and Evernote shows no signs of adopting. But it would be simply amazing if we could add just one more level of hierarchy to the notebooks list. Stacks > Notebooks > Tabs. For people who think hierarchically, this would provide a better sense of where I am in my notes, much better so than tags plus the Stacks > Notebooks hierarchy we have now. And yes, I know you can create pseudo-hierarchies with nested tags, but that feels (to me) like a hack, and has its own problems as well (such as inability to have two lower-level "sections" with the same name). Plus, the lack of nested tags on mobile means any pseudo hierarchy I set up on desktop is lost on mobile, even on the iPad. Provide consistency in the interface across platforms. I use Evernote on a Windows PC, a MacBook, iPhone, iPad, and Web. The Windows experiences differs from the Mac experience which differs from the iPhone / iPad experience and Web experience. It's frustrating when I can do something like nested tags on my desktop and web version, but can't on the iPhone / iPad versions. It's frustrating that the desktop version shows tags at the top of the note while the iPad version hides tags behind a little (i) button. It's annoying that the date and time are shown at the top of a note on desktop, etc., but again, hidden behind the little (i) button on mobile. Also frustrating is the fact that I can change notebook names directly from the left column in the Windows version, but not on Mac version. Reminders - when I set one, I see a little alarm clock in snippet view on Web, but not on Mac desktop. I know it's not easy to do consistency across platforms, and I do appreciate the efforts being made to make it happen, but it would be awesome if we could speed the process up a little bit. Allow tags to be listed in a user-specified order in the top of the note. Right now everything defaults to alphabetical. For God's sake, in the desktop versions, provide the option to auto-complete tags with strings from the middle of the tag, not just the beginning! Unlike some people here, I'll sometimes tag something "red apple" instead of "apple - red". I'd love to be able to get "red apple" in the tags part of the note UI from typing "apple" rather than having to type "red". In other words, give the desktop version the same tag autocomplete that the web and iOS have, and let people turn that off if they don't like it. Allow us to change the color scheme of the app. While green is quite the soothing color, and I realize it is your brand color, not everyone likes it. Further, in my opinion, I think it makes things hard to read sometimes (this applies more to the web and mobile versions). Allow us to change the size of the interface elements. Desktop version - Windows, in particular. On higher resolutions screens, interface elements are sometimes far too small. Can we get the ability to bump it up? Font consistency across platforms. Windows is one font, Mac is another, the web and iOS are yet another. Can we please get some consistency? And also ... the Gotham fonts has terrible hinting on less-than Retina displays (most typical Windows displays). It's not so pleasing to look at. Password protected sections. OneNote does them. Why not Evernote? I'd be more than happy to provide more detailed suggestions on how to at least design some of these things.
  3. On the iPhone, the "Close" and "Add Tag" buttons on "Note Details" page are so close together that I frequently hit the "Add Tag" button again instead of the intended "Close" the details window. Here is a screenshot of what I am talking about: https://thesecretweapon.tools/temp/20171229-evernote-move-buttons-further-apart.JPG
  4. I would like to drag images, including groups of images, from the finder and the mac photos.app into a note in evernote.
  5. After using the keyboard shortcut <ALT + SHIFT + B> to change a note's notebook, the program's focus disappears and I can no longer use the keyboard to navigate until I click somewhere with the mouse. Is there a why to restore the program's focus without using the mouse?
  6. 1. Left Panel: Next to "Notes" it tells me how many notes I have; but next to "Tags" it doesn't tell me how many tags I have. Please change. 2. When I search I don't see anyplace that tells me how many notes were selected by my search. Please add this. Thank you.
  7. Hello, I'm new to Evernote and testing it thoroughly. I'm trying to declutter the Evernote desktop window so I can focus on content, but I'm having poor luck. I got rid of everything on the toolbar through "customize", but it leaves a lot of dead space. I deselected the Left Panel, which is totally useless to me and has tons of dead space. Now I have two panes: the "snippet" list on the left and the Note Panel on the right. Unfortunately the Note Panel has lots of junk I don't use, like the text formatting toolbar and the "reminder"/"present"/etc buttons. I'd also like to remove the Notebook menu at the top of the Note Panel because I only have one Notebook (notebook categorization appears to be completely replaceable by tags). It would be great to remove the search box entirely, because it's a lot of dead space when it's not being actively used. Ideally it would be combined with the File/Edit/View/etc menu at the top and the whole thing would only appear when being used. Notepad++ works like that. My screen is 900 pixels in height and the top 160 pixels or so are almost all dead space, about 18% of the screen real estate! (It would be another 20 or so pixels wasted if there was a title bar for the window, but I removed that using Autohotkey.) And the most important info is mostly hidden--the tags! The tag list in the Note Panel only shows a few tags and buries the rest under a menu that requires clicking. I figure a typical note will have about 10 or more tags in a fully implemented Evernote, and this info is the heart and soul of the program, so it should be very visible at all times. Meanwhile, instead of showing this essential info the display is full of dead space and marginally useful widgets/buttons. Can this be changed? In the standalone note window, more tags are shown, but only one line's worth and the rest are buried just like in the Note Panel. Likewise for the snippet display--just one line of tags and the rest aren't visible. The best workaround I've found so far is to maximize the width of the Note List in snippet mode and toggle it on/off. Are there are any customization options for this stuff deep in the code somewhere?
  8. Long time Premium user. Just upgraded to 6.0 and was greeted with one of the most horrible interfaces I've seen in a long time. Shades of gray? Really? I hope you listen to your paying customers and offer some options to tone down this abomination.
  9. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE, RESCIND OR REJECT A PREVIOUS "SHARE A NOTEBOOK REQUEST" I had worked with a large group of people on a Project on EverNote and approved several "Share A Note Book Request". I noticed after a few weeks after the project was completed that my simple tagging system which I had pain-stakingly design was cluttered with tags from one of the people that I had accepted the Share A Notebook Request. 10. Does anyone else have this problem? I use Evernote on an iMac, iPad, Android tablet, and several Windows devices. The interface is DIFFERENT on each platform. I frequently switch between different devices and find it very frustrating to have to "relearn" the simplest things, like where the "New Note" button is. For example, the latest iOS version is very nice and elegant, but the UI design is completely different from what you see when you use the Windows version. I would like to see an option whereby you can specify the UI layout you want and have it appear consistently across all devices. Conforming the iOS UI to be consistent with the Windows XP UI will certainly sacrifice some of the "prettiness" of the iOS version, but I would welcome the gain in usefulness.
  11. Hey I am an evernote user and love it. I just downloaded the new IOS 7 update and was shocked to see the two greens and busy and choppy interface. Much preferred the old interface than the new. Am I the only one not in love with the colouring of the new update for ios 7? When you look at the apple calendar app the interface is clean and less colour and beautiful, pleasant to use The two greens in the interface are difficult to look at. anyone have thoughts?
  12. Hello all, this is a small detail that seriously gets in my nerves for 2 main reasons 1) it's duplicated information 2) It's a waste of precious IOS screen real state the reason I bring it here (and not just open a ticket) is to have your ideas and views, so please comment. I'm specifically referring to this: having this somewhat small space back would be enough to see one more note on the list and would remove the unnecessary information as the buttons already have beautiful, super clear icons. I don't think there's any need to add the additional label as this is the kind of functionality/workflow that once you've learned you'll never forget it. The icons are a very clear UI element. I'm not sure if this was created with new users in mind, but if that's the case ... can we maybe consider removing them in favor of tooltips or one slide on the welcome screen showing what these beauties do? (I hate tooltips btw, but I kinda hate these labels a bit more )
  13. I'm studying computer science and I have a strong passion for user experience/interface design. I haven't been the biggest fan of Evernote and I've realized that it comes down to a few pretty simple issues that I feel would enhance the usability of Evernote for many people, including myself. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate what Evernote does and the quality/reliability. However, I would love to see it improve in the following 4 main ways (in order of importance in my opinion): 1. Have a "Sort by" setting for each notebook so that it can be sorted by things like the date they were created/last edited (or user's chosen order). 2. Have a quick and easy list entry (comparable to Google Keep) 3. Change the reminders...I feel they should be a separate thing within evernote (possibly displayed on a calendar style layout) with a note attached to them (rather than the reminder attaching to the note). I would also like the option to have a recurring reminder. 4. Allow for a larger hierarchy of notebooks for better organization beyond two layers (good for OCD people like myself) A point of lesser importance: I would also love to see one or more alternative layouts/color schemes available if possible...I feel this makes a big difference to potential users. Perhaps take some inspiration from EverMemo or Google Keep.
  14. I don't know if Evernote even pays attention to these forums, but I would like to start a thread here anyway! Evernote Product Development Team: Can you please evaluate updating the Evernote Windows OS Software Interface? It is horrendous and EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I don't know who designed it, but the controls are way to "touchy" and not well defined. Everytime I try to navigate through it, i end up grabbing a note or a folder and dragging it somewhere i didn't want it to go and there is no "undo" feature. Every since you introduced the "stacks" feature, it is even worse. I try to scroll the list of notebooks and if you are slightly off by a pixel, or your mouse doesnt scroll perfect straight up and down, it will cause you to grab a folder and drop it onto another folder and then it creates a stack. And on the theme of stacks - please read all the other posts..... get rid of it or give us a feature to turn it off. It is annoying and useless. What's the point of having a stack if it doesn't sync across my devices and shares??? Work on a proper folder structure rather than giving us a half-hearted poor attempt at that feature. So last request - PLEASE look at redoing the user interface for Windows. It is extremely user unfriendly. Thanks, Dave
  15. Hello. Request a journal view/template that can also utilize a calendar for selecting dates. (Or maybe even a separate app that utilizes the Evernote database back end.) What I specifically have in mind is an option (per notebook) to interact with Evernote in the same way as the DayOne journaling app. It seems to me that the Evernote database back end should be able to support a journaling front end. This request is related to a more general observation that I have about Evernote. It is very functional. However, for me, the look and feel is busy, rigid, and restrictive. In other words, the interface is not elegant and inviting. (Again, for me.) I just don't enjoy using it. I really, really want to enjoy the product because I think it has great potential to keep me organized and remember everything - including a daily journal. I have also been looking for an all-in-one app where I can both journal and keep notes. I have found that my stress level actually goes up a bit when I open Evernote, and I end up defaulting back to keeping notes other ways. Thank you so much for your consideration and support.
