  1. Hello! I still miss more ambitious formatting and structuring options to give larger notes a clearer look. The Evernote editor reminds me in HTML-Editors I've used 20 years ago ... Some examples: There are no paragraph / style templates ... (And if you choose to implement them, please don't forget to make them addressable by hotkeys as well.) Automatic structuring* works on one level only (simple numbering). If you try structuring with numbering and indentions, you end up in a mess. Manual structuring is a drag! The Evernote editor interprets the manual inputs and converts them into - often incorrect - automatic numbering. Disabling the automatic numbering deletes the manually set numbers too .... aaaahhhh!!! The tabs for the automatic indentation of numbering are using positions other than indenting with the tab key!?!? I know that an online editor can't offer such mighty features as e.g. MS-Words - but I've seen much better text-editors on the web so far. Kind regards Conrad *I'm German, I'm not sure if this is the right term. In German it is "Automatische Gliederung". What I mean is automatic formatting, indention and numbering in more then one level, based on the template - something like this: 1. Evernote Asd asd asd asd asd 1.1 Good The good feature are: 1.1.1 Online bla bla 1.1.2 Offline this and that 1.2 Bad Dubidu 1.3 Fair 1.3.1 Search Option ... 2. Other Editor 2.1 ...
  2. When we will have autotext in the Evernote text editor to facilitate the typing of notes? In macOS we have this natively by the operating system. But Windows does not have native autotext in the operating system. So Evernote could think of something.
  3. As much as you can change the default font and size, I think it would add a lot of functionality and customisation potential to the Evernote editor if you could change more defaults. Some that come to mind, Default font type and size for code blocks Default highlighter colour (linked to this idea)
  4. Hi! I come from a background where I would store all my personal notes in a text documents organized using directories. I used my favorite text editor at the time to edit the notes. One feature that is noticeably missing is the ability to define what a "tab" does in Evernote. I really want my tabs to be 2 spaces (i.e. 2 spaces for indentation), though I know some people like 4 spaces, 5 spaces, or even a hard tab character. I would love to be able to define this in a global setting, so that when making notes on the mac I can simply press tab or space twice to do indentation in my notes. An added benefit (for my use case) is that on mobile, indenting will be easier - two spaces instead of the regular 4. It will also get the Evernote text editor closer to the fully-featured text editors that many programmers are used to. Thank you!
  5. I would really appreciate it if the following features were added to the text editor for the Desktop PC edition of EverNote. 1. Allow me to change the font size to any font I want within a 0.5 pixel range. That's It, I will let you know when I have more. Your loyal paying customer. - DigitalN0mad
  6. Greetings from an Evernote 7.9.3 Android user! Keyboard: Google Keyboard / Fleksy Keyboard, Current Device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Android 5.1), ex Evernote-device: Samsung Note 3 neo A humble request to EN team go through issues (verified on both of my devices) and do the needful : *** While using Backspace on words in middle of the line, newly added checkbox (in the case when checkbox is auto-added due to newline) gets deleted. *** Backspacing sometimes deletes words randomly on the same line, and appends junk text (eg. Line 1 has 5 words. I attempt to erase word 5 and word 4 gets deleted, and/or some extra characters get appended after deleting the word) (demoed in video I've shared) ---- EDIT: Point 1 & 2 got some problem with the auto-correct feature of the keyboards. Scroll LAG even on High-end devices (Snapdragon 650, 3GB RAM); this happens in case of multiple 1 or 1.5MB+ sized images in that note. Copy-paste of text from a web-article retains Font size and color of the source text . In this case, newlines get randomly inserted between lines in that note (please refer to screenshot, the empty lines were added automatically every timed I edited the note) (demo-ed in video I've shared). *** Cursor, then itself freezes at times you try to edit this newly copied internet text. ----- EDIT: These notes then take forever to open #'Opening note'. Sometimes it takes 2 attempts to check a checkbox. slow to load long (offline) image notes. Clipping of Full web page is slow & fails sometimes (doesn't even notify if it's not clipped since a long time). If some big note doesn't get sync'd due to network failure, it mostly won't get sync'd even on good net connection later. (occasional). Web-Clipping is still awful. Eg: webpage components overlap, some junk text is only what gets clipped, zoomed text gets saved that ain't scroll-able/resizable. Widget, doesn't show all of the shortcuts on the 1st time after it reloads. It needs a re-scroll to load all (I have 20+ shortcuts). Video links for demo of bugs from point 1,2 and 4 (from my google-drive):- Video 1(link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3kDYn-4wtG9d3oyV2NfbzNNTkU/view?usp=sharing), you can see < 1>how text gets randomly deleted on the same line as the cursor <2>Checkbox gets deleted even though the cursor is away <3>Text of two different checkboxes mix etc. Video 2(link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3kDYn-4wtG9Q2psOU1NaTZ1RjQ/view?usp=sharing), you can see newline inserted without intent ! SUGGESTIONS: Please enable note-sharing externally (it hurts). UX. Badly needed! It takes almost 2X efforts, as compared to traditional apps, for making any note-changes. Improve clipping. Note-editor screen is too cluttered for small-screen phones. Let Handwriting and text be mixed in order of their addition, instead of all Handwriting pages being forced together. A 'save' option on the 'Discard changes' dialog or a quicker way to save and exit the edit mode, since the top-left and top-right Save Buttons aren't easily accessible on phablets, using one hand. Thanks, The curious EN Fan
  7. Please improve the basic text editor so we can copy/paste our formatted notes into other applications such as Word? If you have formatted text with with nested bullet points, the pasted version adds additional lines and/or bullets. Would prefer not having to fire up OneNote whenever I need to take lengthy notes with any kind of formatting.
  8. As a premium subscriber - I want evernote to make my versioned notebooks available in evernote markup as git repositories. The minimum implementation would be a daily cron or similar to export/update a personal read-only git repo for version controlled backups. A backup is not a backup if it cannot be restored, it is an archive at best. Next step is to allow me to restore my evernote information from my Evernote git repository. The rationale: I have an easy backup mechanism - running git clone on a regular basis. Anyone who can use git, will want (and understand) this feature, which would be amazing for Windows, OsX, and Linux It makes it easier for people to do whatever they want with regards to personal automation around their evernote notes. It will lower the barrier for innovation on evernote content on all platforms. If write access allowed, It makes it easier to use any other external text/xml manipulation tool to update evernote. Make it easier to detect and track changes in your documents, as git is a mature tool for this, and so are the tools that use it. This "git backup" feature has the side benefit of making it easier for mature 3rd party tools on unsupported platforms e.g. Linux, OpenBSD, or anywhere GUI's fail, but git works!. That's it. This is what i am campaigning for now.
  9. I've read several related requests to fix the text editor in Evernote. Many ask for further details about what the problem is. I'm sure I'm not the only one to keep hitting these bugs. (1) Cutting and pasting lines: Type four lines of text in a new note (even just "a", "b", "c", "d"). If you select, say, line "b" by moving to the front of the line, hitting Shift+Down to select the whole line, Ctrl+X to cut, then move down to line "d" and Ctrl+V to paste you get a blank line inserted after it! So it somehow copied *2* linebreaks. Why? The only other way of selecting the whole of line "b" before cutting it is to hit Shift+End, but then when you cut you get a blank line left there and when you paste in front of line "d" you *don't* get a line break. Please fix this - it makes it much harder than it should be to rearrange lines. (2) Bullets: Create a note with two bulleted lists, separated by some text. Cut or copy an item from the middle of the top list, and paste it after the second list - you get a weird gap between the two. Why is that? So now paste it in the non-bulleted line before the second list - you get it separated from the second list by some non-bulleted text. That's OK, you think, I'll just delete that line in the middle, but again you get this weird gap between them and you have to concatenate two items and then hit enter to get a bullet in front of both again. (3) Check boxes: What's up with those? Half the time when adding more items to a list of checkboxes I either end up with two checkboxes before an item or none. Sometimes hitting enter after a checkboxed item creates a new line starting with a checkbox, but sometimes it doesn't - I haven't found out why, but it seems to happen when you come back to a previous list of checkboxes - if you enter a list all in one go it generally does what you'd expect. (4) Formatting and paste: A number of times I go to paste some text into a note and the format *should* be the same and everything should line up but it doesn't, and I end up with bullets with slightly different indentation, or slightly different bullet size (has the font gone wonky?). Could a developer at Evernote *please* just get assigned to fixing the bugs throughout the text editor (or could one of them show their altruism and moonlight/do a skunkworks project to fix the text editor for all of Evernote's thousands of users)?
  10. Greetings, I recently downloaded Evernote 5.0.2.1392 for Windows and wanted to make a few suggestions that would improve the experience (at least for me): * Keyboard customization. I use Visual Studio and Notepad++ a lot, which map F3 to "Find Next". I would love to be able to change this from Ctrl-g. * When I search for something in a note, I'll expect Esc to close the search box and put the text cursor immediately after the end of the text that I just searched for. Instead focus always seems to go to the top of the note. This is very frustrating! * The "Related Notes" section that appears underneath a note seems to cause some rendering glitches when I scroll. Scrolling up seems sluggish until the Elephant image has completely disappeared. It creates a tugging effect while scrolling up a note. It's a little hard to describe the issue, but Everynote always seems to chug slightly while the Elephant image and Related Notes section are visible. Thanks, Dave
  11. Dear Evernote, You have a great service with Evernote and I consider every month or so to actually start using it professionally as a TODO + notes + archive app. Unfortunately it doesn't fit. The reason is simple – for me you have worst notes editor for text. It's almost useless for me. Let me (ex/com)plain. You have too many formatting options, but those are not simple enough to be useful. The formatting breaks very often when you paste something. Even checkboxes (TODO's) break. Sometimes delete a character, the whole bullet structure breaks. It really frustrates me! Look for example at TaskPaper. It has very simple formatting. Either it's a header (project), a bullet point, indent or a comment. It misses inline images, inline URLs and horizontal lines for example. But for me it's much more usable than Evernote's editor. What are notes? Basically it's text with headings in three levels, multi level bullets, todo checkboxes, comments, marked/bold/italic tekst, images/photo's. Sometimes tables. More or less what MarkDown supports. I would LOVE to have a simple formatting options which have above option. Not too many fonts, types, tables, etc. Just simple things for notes. That's what it is all about. A "fixed" formatting, like in TaskPaper, would be great. Extend it with inline images, colors, inline URLs, horizontal lines and you have a great note app. Is there anyone else having these problems with the editor? Thanks for your support! -- ddofborg
