  1. Hello guys, I am using Evernote premium and I nearly uploaded 8 gb of pdfs and audio Lactures to Evernote from my laptop. Now I am accessing these notes from iPhone 6s. But the problem is I have to tap on each and every pdf file to open. And worst part is it takes my mobile’s internal memory. If I want to read a file than it says “Tap to download”. And if I tap on it than it starts downloading. And it consume my internal storage. I want to read pdf online and don’t want to download to my iPhone to save space. I am not using offline features. Also here is a link of a thread which I read and did accordingly. Also I synced all my notes from the iPhone (in my view syncing is to tap on each and every note the says “tap to download” and once downloading complete I think it sync to the server. Is it true?). Then I deleted the app and restart the phone. So as in the thread says (by @gazumped) I got my storage back. But when I download this app again than it again says “tap to download” for each files. ☹️ I upload pdfs from laptop. Doesn’t it count as a syncing? please do needful as soon as possible. thank you Ps: I downloaded desktop version on win7 laptop and synced all the notebooks. Than I delete the app from mobile and download again but problem still persists. I have to download attachments (PDF files) to read them. And it occupy internal mobile storage.
  2. Hi, I want to do some clean up for my old notes (My notes are taking a lot of spaces). Because we don't have the "auto-remove feature for Trash" and we cannot search notes in Trash, I have to delete my notes manually in Trash, which wastes a lot of time. For Apple Notes, notes are searchable even in Trash, and notes in Trash will be auto-removed after 30days, and will be completely removed from iCloud from the next 40days. It is very convenient, we don't have to search for notes in Trash to delete manually (for e.g. look for notes in Trash which is older than 30days). I hope Evernote can implement some features to easier remove old notes to save spaces.
  3. I have the free Evernote account; I am running Mavericks on my iMac and iOS 7 on my iPad and iPhone. I haven't been able to find a clear explanation of where my data is stored and where it is not stored. I understand that all my notes are permanently stored (unless I delete them) on the Evernote servers and that I can access them through my browser if I want to. But: (1) Using the Evernote desktop app on my iMac, I seem to be able to access my notes very quickly, which suggests that copies of all my notes are also stored on my hard drive, updated when I sync, and where I can access them even when I am not connected to the Internet. Is this correct? (2) When I access notes from my mobile device they must be downloaded from the Evernote servers. Does this mean that they are only stored temporarily on my mobile device while I am viewing or editing them? When do these temporary copies disappear from the memory of my mobile device? (3) I understand that the Premium account will allow me to maintain copies of all my notes on my mobile devices at all times so that I can access them even when I am not connected to the Internet. Is this correct? It would be helpful to have this information clearly presented on the Evernote support site. Perhaps it is; I haven't been able to find it. In the meantime, can anybody provide answers to these questions? Thanks.
  4. I have a MacBook Air with 256GB total storage. I've been using EN for a couple of years now and my HDD is nearing capacity. App data (excluding photos, music, video) is by far the largest amount of files at 161GB, with EN .pdf files representing the lion's share of that. 90% of my EN activity is scanning documents to eliminate paper. The rest is mostly web clipping. My question is whether it is possible to store some notebooks exclusively in the cloud and off my computer? I'm only seeing the choices of local and synchronized, the latter meaning a file on both the computer and cloud. How about getting some of them, the ones I'm comfortable with doing, exclusively in the cloud unless and until I need to look at them? I'm retired and using EN just for personal needs. I don't want to resort to an add-on external HDD for EN files. I'm running MacOS 10.11.6 and EN 6.10. Thoughts?
  5. Hello all, I am trying to do a NAS / Evernote cleanup. I was curious on everyone else's setup. When it comes to bills, statements, documents, (99% in PDF) Do you store them strictly in Evernote? My current setup is they are stored in Evernote, and then another copy is stored in a file-system on my NAS. Considering deleting the copy on my NAS to be more efficient. But I wanted to hear from the pros/experts what you do, and the length of time using your system Thank you!
  6. So how do you do this I want a physical hard copy of all my evernote notes and attachments in an evernote readable format backed up onto my local hard drive exporting out notes just exports XML which is simply going to be text based notes, tags, among other things - but not attachments or how can i back my attachments up easily
  7. How secure are the notes stored in Evernote? Is there a way to make sure the files stored in the Evernote directory structure on the local hard drive are encrypted? If I store company documents, including peoples SSNs, and personally identifiable information, how secure are they? When a notebook is shared with another Evernote user, does the data pass back and forth as SSH? Thanks
  8. Greetings everyone, I'm seriously in need of a cloud backup storage and as Premium Evernote user, I was planning to use it as a main hub for keeping and organizing my general files. I'm not willing to pay for another service (I have a 100gb Drive plan and that's my limit), so I wanted to work with I already have. Here's what I thought, so far: - Mirror my HD using Notebooks and Notes, maybe even Stacks, in EN. Every note would be a directory with lots of files (documents - texts, PDFs, scans -, mainly). - Use a Note as index with links (I'm still thinking if I do it or not, maybe it could be the most difficult part, keeping it updated). - Use Flickr to store photos. - Put everything that doesn't fit in Google Drive (videos, etc). I wondered if you have thought of different systems or even have hints on how to set this up. I never read anything about it and wanted to hear opinions and suggestions, if possible. Thank you.
  9. The problem: When notes are modified, the timestamp changes. This makes it impossible to edit past notes for errors without losing the detail of when the note was originally created. The solution: Please add an additional time-modified timestamp that is mutable and updates whenever a note is edited; and, please make the time-created timestamp immutable. Additional useful feature: Please enhance the search so that notes can be searched and filtered by either time-created, time-modified, or both.
  10. Oh no. Is evernote following microsoft down the "We know what's best for you sewer?" "You WILL NOT have the option..." It shocks me to discover that i cannot set evernote my android phone to store notebooks on the external SD card. My evernote folders have reached the point where they are clogging my phone's internal storage. Does that mean i need to switch to OneNote? ...or Keep? sigh ~Tay " Can I choose to store Evernote data on external storage if I want? You will not have the option to store Evernote data on any external storage devices."
  11. I only have 56 notes, but most have a few ppt slides included... Now i can't seem to add anything new. Is this b/c I went over the data limit? Thanks!
  12. I'm getting an error on my Kindle Fire HD after not using my Evernote app in a while that says "you don't have enough space on your device to create new notes." I have more than enough space on my kindle and I have deleted videos to make more space. I can't create new note or edit my old. How can I fix this??
  13. I signed up for premium a week ago, and just now I checked my account. 98% of my 10gbs has been used. I don't believe I used that much that quickly. Not even sure that that is possible. Is everything ok? Any thoughts?
  14. I want to make a proposal. I would appreciate, if EN would store the data of citizens of the EU in the EU. I know all the standard bla bla, how safe the data is. In fact it's not. Safe Harbor is over and we have now the Privacy Shield. But this is more or less the same, only with an other name. So as a non US citizen I don't have the control over my data. EN is holding the encryption keys and with the Patriot Act and FISA many people can have access to my data. And En can even be forced to keep the access secret. Some US companies even get money from the NSA for the access to the personal data of the customers. Legal backdoors. I don't know, if EN get also money for this, but after the last price "adjustment" I can imagine, that EN need badly money. Microsoft started to solve this problem by offering cloud services in the EU. This would be a feature that would be worth the price "adjustment".
  15. I have NO downloaded notes on my evernote Premium account but it is still take up 7.8GB of space on my phone... almost my entire phone storage. I don't know what to do to fix this because it just seems like something is wrong.
  16. I'm fairly new to serious Evernote usage, so this may be a silly, pie-in-the-sky question, but I was just wanting to know exactly what Evernote means when they say there's a "100,000 tag limit". It's a bit hard to explain, so let's use a hypothetical scenario: I go to my completely empty tag list, and create 3 tags, "article", "book", and "movie". I now have 3 named categories of tags on my account. I then go and tag 4 notes with "article", 7 with "book", and 3 with "movie", for a total of 14 usages of tags on my account. In that case, what is the 100,000 tag limit referring to? Can I create 99,997 more named categories of tags, and apply them infinitely to as many notes as I want? Or, regardless of how many named categories I set up, am I only allowed to make 99,986 more individual usages of tags across my notes?
  17. Hi, My computer crashed recently and I am trying to recover my local evernote notebooks. I have access to my old hard drive but I can't seem to find the evernote local notebook files. Could anyone please indicate what would be the default path and extension for local notebooks in Windows? Thanks.
  18. I am using Evernote (mac) to store (as attachments) important documents related to various projects. I am concerned that they might expire and disappear before I need to refer to them. Is there a time limit on attachments?
  19. This seems to be a problem related to drag-dropping from Firefox. 1. Open Firefox and find an image. 2. Drag it straight into Evernote. Is this a problem with Evernote or Firefox? Not only would users have less data to sync up and down, but Evernote would pay less for storage and bandwidth. I know that using the Evernote plugin to clip the image does save it in the original format, but clipping takes 2-4 clicks, and drag-dropping onto my second monitor is simple and intuitive.
  20. Hi all, I have been using evernote on my iPad and desktop for over a year now. I have one of the premium accounts as I use this for work and it is great for viewing/reviewing and organising documents and drawings for use at meetings etc. However, all these attachments are taking their toll on my space availability in the iPad memory. I have moved a lot of old redundant notes into notebooks dedicated for old projects etc (I do want to keep these) and have set my ipad to only sync with notebooks relevant to "live" projects. However, this does not seem to remove the attachments from notes already synced in the redundant folders. I assume deleting these notes will remove them from the online/desktop versions and will therefore lose the information. Any suggestions?
  21. Hello, On my iPad and iPhone the menu option for reviewing the storage usage by apps is: settings - general - usage - manage storage Evernote used to show up here as one of the top users on my devices with about 3 gb. Now it's just showing 291 mb on iPhone and 479 mb on iPad. I am a premium user and have downloaded all notes for offline usage. All the notes appear to be downloaded and are available for use when the iPhone (or iPad) are in airplane mode. So, it seems all the 8000+ notes are downloaded on both devices. Looks like iOS (or EN) does not report the true usage of Evernote. Anyone have the same result? Thanks, David
  22. EDIT: I didn't realize this had to be done at the device/app manager level, I thought that was just for cache - whoops. It's been a while since I had a mobile device, sorry. I sure hope I don't have to sync all the headers and such from scratch after clearing this just to get rid off my offline notebooks. : / EDIT: Aww, HELL no......... Is this really the only way to remove offline notebooks? When selecting notebooks to save offline, it doesn't even say how much space they take up (in my Evernote usage, the amount of notes in a notebook isn't indicative of how much space they will take up), so I have to do it by trial and error). Why doesn't "Disable Offline Notebook" remove the data without having to set up the whole app from scratch via app manager? I thought it'd be nice to use my premium account for offline access for my trip, but so far I've crippled the phone by bringing it down to 200 MB, froze the phone requiring battery removal when wiping Evernote's app data from the App Manager, and now I'm watching my headers and "snippets" trickle back in like day one. Not something I anticipated with a premium productivity app. If I knew that, I would've waited til I cross referenced with the desktop version's individual notebook size info, and settled for sneaking on and off of my data allowance if I wanted to read something until I'm off the road.
  23. Any ideas why Evernote would be using 443 MB of storage without any offline storage? That's way more than I want Evernote to be using.
  24. 'i've only used 88% and 19 days left. tried to clip something before but web clipper said i don't have enough space, so i thought it's ok to save other stuffs with less memory, e.g. bookmark....but it showed sync failed....why's that? I tried before when i still have little memory left, i still can upload bookmark or simply word doc....but this time i can't, it showed sync failed. Is it because something stuck in web clipper? (i was rejected while clipping a large file ....it showed out of spaces, so i thought i still can clip other simple stuff.) Do you think i need to wait until next month?
  25. I am running out of storage space on my iPad mini (iOS 8). Evernote uses 3,6GB and is by far the largest consumer of storage space. On my iPhone 5s (iOS 8) evernote use 1,6GB of storage space None of the notes are available off line on my iPad mini. Is it normal that Evernote should use so much space ?
