  1. Thorough explanation of the problem: I use a lot of abbreviations that I may or may not ever need to use again which spell check often snags as incorrect. Sometimes I add them, sometimes not. Today I was writing a lot of surnames along with details. I got sick of the red squiggles and knowing I would definitely use those surnames again, I began adding them like crazy. Unfortunately for me, I'm faster at doing that than my brain can work because I added misspelled words (not names, not that it matters). I find it discouraging that it is so hard to correct spell check dictionaries. I'm not calling out Evernote because I blame Windows for making it difficult. I tried reading this: https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/17609-how-to-edit-evernote-dictionary/ and this https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/25994-add-remove-words-spell-checking-dictionary-windows-10-a.html#option2 because I thought that perhaps since the first one didn't work, maybe it was a Windows thing. It didn't matter, neither of them work, for one, the default.dic file was empty so that was no help. I tried deleting it and it was unchanged. I am at a loss on how to handle this. Quick problem (for those TLDR folks): How do I edit words that I have accidentally added to spell check, as okay? It is not in C:\Users\magnoliasouth\AppData\Local\Evernote\Evernote\Dict\user.dic or any folder past C:\Users\magnoliasouth\AppData\Local\Evernote* Oh and no, my PC doesn't name me as magnoliasouth.
  2. Please add a feature which can check in-depth spelling errors and grammatical errors at pro level. It will be of great value even if Evernote team gives this feature to premium members. This is a feature which i miss a lot in Evernote and can be really helpful for note taking community.
  3. I have been using Evernote for windows for a while. I am currently running version 6.4.2.3788. I started noticing a few weeks ago that evernote's build in spell-check is flagging all my contractions. For example when I am typing it underlines words that are spelled wrong in red. I do not use the menu version to spell checking the whole note. While typing words such as Don't (do not), Can't (can not), Won't (would not) are flagged incorrect. When the righ-click menu suggests the root word as a correction (do instead of don't, etc.). This has never been an issue before. I have not change anything regarding the dictionary or words in the dictionary. It is not happening in any other program on my computer that has this type of active spell check feature.
  4. Evernote 6.4 client on Win 7 desktop PC. When right-clicking on a misspelled word & clicking 'ignore word' or 'add to dictionary' the red wavy line under the word doesn't disappear as it used to to. It only goes away when you switch to another note & back again.
  5. Hi. Any advice how I get Finnish language spell checking in Evernote Windows desktop? Finnish language seems to be missing from language selection. Johannes
  6. In almost any other autocorrect system, pressing backspace cancels the erroneous auto-correct suggestion. This does not happen in Evernote for Mac. I believe it is because Evernote is using the Mac spelling not its own. Please change/solve this! It is immensely frustrating to type and delete, type and delete, sometimes the spelling you want takes 5 goes to 'stick' sometimes it never gets there and you have to type a workaround. A real problem when trying to take rapid notes in a meeting or call. Evernote needs to have its own dictionary or at least the ability to write to the dictionary it's using with an intuitive immediate over-ride of false corrections by using the backspace, and perhaps the automatic adding to the dictionary of any new spelling encountered this way after it's encountered 3 times.
  7. I'm new to the Evernote forum, so I apologize for adding this in the wrong section. I just started using this app on my iPad mini a few months ago. I love the new ios 7 design, but I'm already confused on a lot of things. First, ever since Evernote updated for ios 7, the adding and customizing hyperlink button at the bottom of the note screen is gone. Sometimes my numbers would also highlight as if they were urls, but they're not. How can I link/unlink urls? Can we customize them anymore? Second, the spell check has been acting up. I have to tap it twice to get the "Replace" option to fix my spelling. Incorrect spelling has also stopped underlining. What am I doing wrong with the new ios 7 Evernote?
  8. It would be wonderful if spell-check was smart enough to ignore certain words that obviously are not words -- like words with numbers in them, words in all-caps (which are typically acronyms), words with special characters in them, words where a capital letter appears in the middle of the word (like when typing a variable name; e.g. "amountReceived"). It's understandable that some people might want some of those to still be checked and marked as misspelled, but there could be options added to the spelling options screen that allows the user to control which are checked for spelling and which are not. It's not an option for people like me to turn off spell-check altogether, because I'm a bad speller and need it, but I'm weary of all the unnecessary red underlines when writing technical notes that include all the types of "words" mentioned above. Thanks, -Tom.
  9. I'm quite often writing my translations from one language to the other by pasting the source text into a note and overwriting it with the translated version. My OSX is English and when I type my other language text in Evernote the words get automatically corrected into words in English what doesn't really help when I'm translating from English into another language. It is really not helping when my more or less correct spelling is ruined by a foreign language spellchecking that cannot be turned off or set to the proper language. I don't know if there is a setting I don't find or it is a feature request but it would be great to be able to set what language a note uses - thus use correction suggestions for that language. Or at least to be able to turn off spellig correction for that post not to mess up with my work.
