  1. Seems random that we can't add shortcuts just because we didn't personally create the note. Makes it hard for businesses who use Evernote on a daily basis for projects, processes, etc.
  2. So far i have not seen option that would allow to change/customize mouse scrolling speed, step, smoothness. Is there such an option at all? If yes, can somebody direct me? Otherwise consider this topic as feature suggestion. Thanks.
  3. I am deciding whether to switch from iPhone notes to Evernote. Obviously Evernote allows far better organisation of notes, but before I start creating thousands upon thousands of notes I want to know that I won't have any issues with speed of the Evernote app on my iphone after having large volumes of data. I have seen posts from 2015 about the scalability issue with the Evernote app, and this was the issue with the Google keep app, where I had hundreds of notes and images which caused the app to become essentially unusable on my iPhone. By the time it would finish loading, I would have lost my train of thought and become unable to capture the thought on the app. I want to know whether people have had similar issues with the Evernote app before I start devoting hours into creating notes only to have the app become essentially useless on my phone.
  4. Evernote couldn't get rid of it old cons - it has bad user interface and it works slow. So I quit Evernote after years of trying to benefit from it. I used Basic, I used Premuim for year or two - it doesn't matter. I always end up collecting a bunch of unrelated data I can't use. Sync with that evernote-award-winning Swipes didn't help. Nothing did. I quit Evernote for the bunch of reasons, here's main: speed, structure, user interface and threrefore - usability. Speed Now I use Simplenote each time I need a quick text pastebox or a quick note. 1680 plain text bits and counting. Size varies from the names to articles or the books. Search is a lightning. Launches less than in a second, works offline everywhere, syncs flawlessly. Extra options - txt in zip archive, dropbox sync. For free. Structure Workflowy is for the structure, tasks, notes and thinking process. I keep there 20.000 + and counting notes and texts. Still works faster than Evernote did. 2 seconds to launch desktop chrome app which works offline and 3-4 seconds for mobile app on the iPhone 5. Workflowy has it's cons but there's a structure can't be beaten. I outline my 20.000 notes they way they can be seen in a 600x280px window. Though I prefer 600x780px to see 30 lines of my data. Wonder what are the dimesions and the complexity of the interface needed to handle this data ocean? 600x73px. 8 buttons and a search field. I use 3 of them. Also there were 6 keyboard shortcuts I needed to remember. 2 of them was "copy" and "paste" I happen two know before. Copy and paste works for thousands of notes user can move and outline in the same time. #tags for additional organisation. Works instantly. All tags can be placed anywhere in text. Rest is done by the google drive, google keep, google docs and related services. Images? Paperless? One can shoot and save photos right into the folders on the google drive today. + You can save images for your research right from the google image search. Camscanner is the best tool to digitalize documents. Can't be beaten today. Dropbox provides save features without image fine-tuning. Png, or PDF. Dropbox Recorder app is used to record long audio - this is the only tool I'm not sure is the best on the market, I'll be thankful for better advice. Still - today I see the once revolutionary ideas in the fundament of the Evernote was neatly implemented by others. I can write, record, photo, collect, outline and never forget anything without good old elephant. The thing is Evernote is still the only tool that can do everything at once somehow. So there's a few people might be happy to stick with it. It's just not for me. Every time I've looked at the Evernote for this years I felt a strong urge to redesign it from the scratch. For now - farewell, Evernote. We're done untill I get a letter from the HQ hiring me to prototype the new everything ) PS I decided to post this here because of the continuous error {"success":"false","reason":"csrf_failure"} on the Premium to Basic transition page.
  5. Evernote (not responding) happens for me nearly every time I attempt to open it. A look at the Task Manager shows that it is, in fact, working, just ever so slowly. Chrome also shows (not responding) from time to time, about monthly. Evernote does it several times a day. You update quite often and I keep hoping the new update will work more quickly but, as of today's new update, it's the same old (not responding). Please, fix it or tell me how to fix it.
  6. The syncing speed for the Evernote desktop app after migrated to GCP is slower than before. Is there any speed limit for user to sync with the server? Also, the connection with the server sometimes dropped. It happens every few days. Please advise what if the data transfer have limitation even for subscription users.
  7. Sync max 750ko/s on download. Connected to internet with fiber 65Mb Down & 6.5Mb Up. Using Macbook Pro 15" i7" 2.6Ghz / El Capitan. (Fresh new install) (i easily see the speed with istat menu & confirmed with other softwares). When i open a note that wasn't synched, the attachement are downloaded at also 750ko/s Evernote support open a ticket on 28 september : the problem is still the same now, 2 month later. Evernote support told me they don't limit the sync speed. No speed limitation ? It's hard for me to believe it ! And always the same max speed. What's speed do you sync ?
  8. I am using Penultimate on an iPad Mini 1 and an iPad 3. I find the drift speed is more or less always too fast, however quick or slow I write, so I am forever deleting words I have written because the down-stroke of, for example, a 'n' is miles away from the up-stroke, making it look like a 'u' or a mess, and I am unable to cross the 't' or dot the 'i' at the beginning of a long word like 'intricately' because it has disappeared of to the left. I think the issue is really that the acceleration is too eager - if the speed of a down stroke varies, it seems the quickest bit is picked up, and the screen will suddenly scroll quickly to the left.
  9. My goal is speed while maintaining clarity of focus. Assume that you have e.g. 1,000 to 3,000 notes for which you want to enter one or more tags apiece. It would be ideal to right click to enter tags after selecting a note in the "All my notes" view (on the Mac client). Unfortunately, this is not a feature. For some notes, you would know what the tag(s) should be, whereas for other notes, you would not know. Some of the tags to be applied you have already created, some must be created. I'd appreciate suggestions that address 1 - which Evernote software client tool and which client tool functions to use (I'm not limited to Mac) 2 - what defined, repeatable, scalable process to use 3 - avoiding having to go individually into each and every note to apply the tags 4 - leveraging search and saved searches 5 - possible use of some mac-based macro app/utility that leverages keystrokes I use the Mac client and Evernote on the web. I already have a large collection of tags which I've arranged hierarchically in the Mac client. If I've failed to mention anything that would help you frame a response, please let me know.
  10. Evernote’s value to me as a tool is in how it supports my writing process. I use Mac OS X. As a new premium user, I am finding that I cannot add my written thoughts to a web page “selection” concurrently with saving the selection to Evernote. I find Evernote’s value lies not just in web capture, but in coupling that web capture with what I’m thinking. I want to simultaneously save the discovered web information AND my summary reflections about its significance to me. I want Evernote to keep up with the speed of my thinking. These two elements – discovery and the discovery’s meaning or significance – are really two aspects of a single thought process of determining a. the usefulness of information and b. intuiting where it fits in a scaffold, whose shape and scope I adduce gradually. Thus, the usefulness of the information I discover, which I use Evernote to retain, is directly proportional to being also immediately able to capture instantly the ideas that spontaneously, rapidly emerge. Being unable to annotate an html capture introduces a lag. I am forced by Evernote's design to add thoughts later (ie., after I sync the capture with Evernote's server, or the capture on the server with my local copy). With even such a slight lag, my thought process is interrupted, associations are lost, or they become more difficult to reconstruct, their collation with related ideas becomes more laborious. I don’t want to Command-Tab to Evernote to further emend/amend the information just captured and only after a tab refresh. I’d appreciate hearing others’ opinions and objectives. I only know my own objectives, habits. It is unclear to me what the full range of uses is for Evernote. Please guide me if I have overlooked some feature or capability. Does anyone do anything with scripting that might address this? I appreciate any and all response, thanks.
  11. I will continue to support Evernote. I'm a long-time user, and have watched Evernote evolve. As it becomes more complex and sophisticated, it *does* (must) load a bit more slowly. I must suggest that an essential feature for me is that Evernote load *quickly* for an off-the-cuff memory or note. A lightweight thought I may want to record. This is the way Evernote started. For, example, sync purposes, I find that Evernote becomes responsive for my input a bit (or sometimes substantially) more slowly than in "the old days". Keep it sleek.
  12. Hi, I have some serious speed issues with 5.0.5 (and also with 5.0.6 beta2). I don't have that much notes in my database yet but it is sluggy like hell. Is this a normal behavior for this version? Some issues are: Deleting a note with backspace takes seconds, and sometimes it even deletes 2 notes, cause it has read the key a second time or so.Switching between notes takes sometimes seconds too. And these notes are not that complex or large. Just text and nothing else.Switching notebooks also takes a lot of time.I am using a current MacBook Air. Speed of the computer is no problem. Any ideas? Help? Best regards, Oliver
  13. I am using Evernote 5 on Mac. My Evernote experience has become increasingly slow. I am adding more and more PDFs to my account in order to reduce the paper in my life. Right now I am just using a scanner app on my iphone. Most of the PDFs I generate are 2-7 megabytes. I am worried about my Evernote experience getting even slower if I stay my course. Do you guys have any recommendations for me? I want to put everything in Evernote, but I DON't want to have everything in and find out that it has become too slow to even use. I am aware that there are similar threads. I would like this one to cast an eye to the future: Do you see changes coming in the way Evernote is going to handle big databases? Or would I be better off putting my digital self in another service? Creating a separate Evernote account? Thanks for your help
