  1. I have been using Evernote for 3 years, however in the last month it has gotten extremely slow, with lag when typing, and regular application freezes. The program is installed on my SSD, with the sync folder located on the HDD (since I don't have space on the SSD to contain both). However, I still encounter these issues on my desktop (which has the program and files located on a single HDD). The program has been reinstalled a number of times, but the issues still persist. I have also tried to export my notes, and then reimport them. In addition, I have deleted older notes that are excessive in size, however none of these changes have fixed the lag when typing, or the freezes. Any advice on how to fix this? Or if not, is there another (preferably free) program similar to Evernote that I can use as an alternative? My Laptop Specs: Core i7, GTX1060, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 2TB HDD. Desktop Specs: Core i7, GTX1060, 32GB RAM, 2TB HDD
  2. Hi, I have 64x Windows7 machine. After updating on Evernote_6.11.2.7027 I notice slow opening notes, it is so anoying! In Evernote_6.9.7.6770 version is no such thing. It is working good! Please, fit it. Regards
  3. Hello, I have the latest version of Evernote (Version 7.1 (456448 Direct)) on Mac OS X 10.11.5, El Captain. I update Evernote regularly but it is responding very slowly all the time since about last 1 year. It must be the slowest app on my mac. I tried uninstalling it and deleted Evernote files from: ~/Library/Preferences/ ~/Library/Application Support/ ~/Library/Caches/ After doing this, I restarted the system and installed again. That did not help. It is slow not just in one particular area. When I click to open a note, it takes a lot of time to open. When I am typing in the note, I have to type and then wait for the typed letters to appear on the screen. It is slow in all areas. I also tried to contact Evernote's official support team twice on twitter: @evernotehelps but did not get any response. Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks, Akshey
  4. I like Evernote less every time I use it and have cancelled my Plus sub from later in the month and am gradually moving my notes to other platforms. Now, at every new entry first nothing happens, then the type appears in the window and ten I get the spinning beach ball. Every time! Activity monitor says 'not responding' for an age. I have trashed the app and re-installed but it makes no difference. Does anyone have an idea? Cheers, Colin
  5. Please watch the enclosed video. When I open the Evernote iOS app, do you see how late the app opens? After the last few updates, Evernote iOS has started to work seriously slowly. The Program is opening late and there is a problem with the notes. Video.MOV
  6. Due to sluggishness, I contacted Evernote support last week. Their 3rd-party support person suggested I uninstall and reinstall and reboot my Evernote Windows. I did and there was a slight improvement, but nowhere as fast as it used to be. I upgraded to Windows 6.10.3.6921 (306921) Public yesterday and now it is really dragging. Some small PDF receipts take up to 7 seconds to view. I contacted Support last night and got the same uninstall/reinstall/reboot reply. (Sigh, I miss the actual Evernote support team) For over an hour today, I've noticed the square green icon at the bottom of my page has a slightly green field moving from left to right. Here is an enlarged view. Does anyone know what this movement signifies? (I've seen it in the past.) Is it automatically rebuilding my database?
  7. Hi, I'm using evernote on Chrome & Windows 10. Recently (since the new interface) evernote now doesn't load for sometimes 2 or 3 minutes, and sometimes not at all. I have to refresh the page using F5 a few times for it to work in this case. Subsequently, and this may or may not be linked, my evernote phone app now continuously corrupts and has to rebuilt the database at least once per day. This has only started happening this week and the slow issue started about 2 months ago or so. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I used to use evernote a lot now I can't use it at all
  8. Evernote is actually the slowest application on my Mac. <https://www.dropbox.com/s/8hu3bpe6tt1hr8x/Screenshot 2018-03-10 13.06.37.png?dl=0> As you will see if you spend 5 Minutes on youtube Is this a normal behavior or should I do something to have a better result?
  9. I'm using Evernote Mac client. The thing is, for months since Evernote have updated the design to tasteless UI, typing on Evernote have become very annoying. I'm a fast typist, and I love to be able to move my cursor using directional key (up, left, right, down) quickly. But, when I start typing on Evernote for a few minutes, the keyboard response will become super slow compare to when I just start typing. The slowness happens when you hold the directional key down to navigate through multiple characters, to the point where moving mouse or repeatedly click the navigation key has become a faster method. To solve this, I have to click any other note and get back to the current note I have been typing and the cursor will become faster again, for another few minutes. If Evernote's core product is the note-taking, then this should be priority.
  10. I was using Evernote to store passwords. Then my docment became 3 documents - conflicting changes, and 2 versions of the original. So I don't know which has the latest passwords and with 2 docs with the same name I have updated more than one. Then when I try to search for a keyword, it finds nothing. Sometimes after much shuffling about I find little yellow markers, but I had to scroll there myself. On the phone the software simply stalls and typing is mega slow across wi-fi. I did try to stich together the 3 docs but it was too much work. I left it as an archive and switched to Google Keep. Honestly, as a text editor with a simple find function it failed miserably. It's too bloated and too slow.
  11. I am a premium user of Evernote and have way too many notes, files etc. in Evernote to begin thinking how to move onto a different vendor for my notes. However, the lag time in opening the Evernote app, loading or opening of specific notes, etc. has become a major headache. Does anyone have advice on something I need to configure or do differently in order to feel better about using Evernote? It seems as if I am using an old Microsoft 386 processor and using excel when you had to manually scroll through the MacPlus screen to see your data. This is really becoming an issue. Thanks.
  12. OK, I'm starting to hate EverNote and thinking in changing to another app Every time I need to create or edit a note it takes from 10 seconds to 1 minute !!! really???? I know this problem is very common and I was hoping we could post a final solution (or all the options) I found this: His solution is to block Evernote.exe with the Firewall, I think was working a bit better after that, but continue being really slow and blocking the workaround is really ugly WHY!? is so slow???? the purpose of taking notes is to be able to do it quickly ! and have really fast access to them too ! I'm trying to find a solution here before unisntalling and migrating everything to OneNote or some other app, this is really dissapoiting
  13. My issue is that for a week now my Evernote Windows Client is extremely slow. Each action hangs it for couple of seconds (2..10 sec). It seems to be correlated with installation of windows' "Fall Creators Update". Symptoms: - EN takes whole CPU (100% of one core, 25% of whole 4 core processor) after each action. - Actions that trigger the high cpu usage: clicking on note, filtering, changing reminder date, scrolling list of reminders, scrolling list of notebooks - Scrolling list of reminders without a change of selected note also triggers high usage. - Even moving a cursor over a list of reminders results in a "reminder hover style" to lag behind the cursor - Clicking on a note triggers the problem and note content is shown after 2-10sec! - Writing to a note is usually normal, but sometimes it lags a great deal - Sync operation works normally as always (it isn't slow!) - It seems that just UI is slow; - The rest of operating system and other programs work OK, only Evernote is that slow - I'm using EN for many years and I've never had similar problems Info: - Windows 10 64 bit with Fall Creators Update - note count: 1000 (no big change here) - on Android client everything works OK as always - disk: SSHD (SSD hybrid) - It all started with current public version of EN (6.7.5) - 2 weeks ago Evernote was FAST. That I've tried: - installing Beta changes nothing ( Evernote_6.8.4.6134.exe ) - optimizing DB and other action from CTRL+HELP menu -> no change;; - deleting evernote DB folder and downloading everything again -> no change; - removing all notes from trash; - compatibility mode to "Windows 8" seems to get things worse;
  14. I noticed around 2 weeks ago Evernote was extremely slow. I thought one of my notes was getting to large and I created a new one. Things seemed ok for about a week and it happened again. Evernote has not worked properly in almost a week. When I open Evernote I must wait for at least 30 seconds before I can get a response from anything I try to do within the program. When I open a note I must wait the same length of time before I can edit the note. Evernote does not work properly using IOS, Windows, or Android. But, the delays seem somewhat less using an IOS device. I have not noticed any other issues with any of my devices. The problem seems isolated to Evernote. I really like the program but if this continues I will need to find something new. Thanks
  15. Hello, i'm a big fan of Evernote and i'm telling all my friends to use it. But i should say : i WAS a big fan and i WAS telling people to use it Because it's now almost impossible to use Evernote anymore on my Mac. One year ago, I have created a rule in IFTTT that creates a new note with a photograph every time it finds a specific keyword on Instagram. Now i have 35000 notes (27000 of which were created like that) When i open Evernote or want to work with it, it constantly shows the little colored wheel and using Evernote is very difficult. I have around 15GB of data in my Evernote folder so i don't think i have an impossible account. Is there something i can do to make it work correctly ? something like reindexing library ? cleaning something ? I can't even watch and delete many of these photographs because browsing is really slow too. Thanks Fred.
  16. I have seen several seemingly dangling posts regarding the slow nature of web clipper. Please forgive if this is redundant. I use web clipper on safari and chrome and it takes fooooever to clip pages, by this I mean 8-15 seconds. This basically stops me dead in my tracks especially if I am surfing and scanning for lots of info to triage later. In contrast, I have used other clippers like pocket and it is basically one click and done [as a detail with pocket, i am saving the whole page, not just the link so its apples to apples comparison] Could you please post your comments if you have similar issues so that I know I am not doing something wrong. And even better, a solution would be great !!!
  17. I've been experiencing this issue for a while now. First, let me say this is not a hardware problem. I'm using a Surface Pro 3, i5, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. Everytime I run Evernote, at first it runs pretty nice, with no lag. But after a little while, Evernote starts to increase the cpu usage and the performance sunks down. Just by browsing the notes list with the mouse, the cpu usage goes up to 30%. The simple task of opening a note takes at least 5 seconds, even more if the note is a big one with formatted text. The picture below shows what I'm saying. In this picture, I'm just moving the mouse cursor over the notes' list and Evernote cpu usage goes up to 30%! And it is slow as hell to browse the notes. Anyone experiencing the same issue? I have Evernote installed on my Work PC with Windows 7 and I don't have this issue. I already tried uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller and reinstalling and I tried renaming the database folder and sync all my notes again with no success. I'm deeply invested on Evernote, and this issue is tearing apart my productivity.
  18. I have no problems with the desktop or the mobile apps. However, publicly shared notes never seem to load in mobile browsers on iOS (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). I just get a loading indicator and the progress indicator stops halfway across the screen. — and yes I know all three browsers are built upon Apple's webkit. WiFi signal is strong, devices have been power-cycled. iOS Browser Apps (all three mentioned) have had thier cache purged and when that didn't work I deleted and redownload the mobile browsers. These are just plain text notes w/o no pictures or extensive formatting. Devices tested on, iPhone 6, iPad Pro both running iOS v10.3.2. Oddly, enough the problem can't be replicated on Android devices.
  20. Hi, I am having some note with extensive (>100 pages) PDF files attached. Whenever I open the notes the Evernote App hangs for 5 to 15 seconds. To me it seems Evernote tries to open the documents and preview them inline in the note. Is there a setting in Evernote Mac that gives me the option to only preview documents of a certain size within the note? Or even disable preview altogether? regards Dietrich
  21. I have an iPhone 7 Plus & 6 Plus and it seems the solution to all my slow herky jerky Evernote v8 woes is to delete the app, power off iphone, back on, reinstall evernote app, sign back in and wait for it to sync. Also helps to change the list options to Small, uncheck images, body text too. This is a pain in the arse that I have to do this every update but it does seem to fix the 5-10 sec freeze issue when opening the app every time. Not sure what the devs are having Evernote try and do when it first loads, I can tell that it's trying to sync but who knows what else. -Premium User since 2009.
  22. Hello! I use an iPad Air 2 and had the same problems with the performance of version 8. I waited 10 seconds until I was able to scroll and edit notes. The solution is very easy: Delete the App on the iPad completely and load it in the store again. Now it's faster than before the update. You will love your Evernote again. So don't hesitate... :-) Have fun! Greetings, Timo
  23. I post performance for you to review your product. After I update your evernte 8.0.4 with my iphone6+, I have a poor performance. Why my iphone6+ slower than my old phone while running evernote? This is clip compare iPhone 6+ (ios10.2.1) vs Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.3) https://youtu.be/-YeMkjfy_Co
  24. When the 12.9" iPad Pro and Evernote combination became available, my needs for an electronic day journal were finally answered. For around 12 months, I have had a close to perfect solution in this regard. That is, until Version 8 arrived. My near-perfect experience is now sullied by constant slow running and pauses, for 1-5 seconds, before I can proceed. My note-taking train of thought is interrupted by these performance problems with Version 8. Are others experiencing this problem? Can Evernote please fix it very quickly? Many thanks,
  25. Hi, I'm new to Evernote, just bought the premium version last week and started scanning the stacks of documents that had accumulated in a year or so. App version is 7.9.6. I'm on a recent Android phone, the Moto G 4 plus, that has a supposedly fantastic camera with laser focus etc.. I'm a hobby photographer and know how to use a camera. I use the brightest spot in the house with indirect sunlight and place the documents on a dark towel. Documents are typically black text on white, Spanish language, flat paper - completely normal stuff I'd say. As long as scanning is working the app paints a green frame around the document, then overlays the document with a green shade within that frame, then shows the Android equivalent of a "waiting" cursor while saying "capturing" for 2-10 seconds (!!!), then makes a shutter sound and a little icon appears on the bottom of the screen that previews the shot. The camera is not automatically identifying the next sheet while the last shot is being processed, but I can press on the screen to take a shot manually. Waiting for the app to process the image is unbelievably slow and I really can't see a reason why the camera needs to wait for the processing before continuing to shoot. So I've continued (manually triggering the camera) and after 2-3 shots the camera shuts down and an empty note shows up. I'd day that's a crash! The first time this happened some of the pictures did eventually show up, but you can't tell that directly after it happens. Combined with it taking close to 10 minutes to scan 10 pages this is very frustrating. Then there's usability: for whatever reason, some of the pictures are completely out of focus. I don't know where that comes from and frankly I could work with it - IF I could easily re-shoot an image in a sequence - but it seems that's not possible?!?! Imagine spending like 20 minutes to scan every document in a contract and then having to START OVER because one of them is unreadable. I've started to review at the end of the session and shooting the bad ones a second time at the end - but please... that's not what I expected! That way there are unreadable images in my scan and the sharp ones are out of sequence. I've looked into using a third party app but I'm not sure how that influences OCR performance. I had imagined that I'd point my phone more or less in the right direction in a semi-dark room with crumpled documents on a cluttered desk and the app would be faster than me grabbing the next sheet. But preparing the perfect conditions it's slower then anything I'm willing to accept. Help please!?! Cheers Till
