  1. There's a big feature missing in evernote shared notebooks. There should be a feature of getting notifications and alerts when someone edits a share note or notebook.
  2. Hey guys! I believe I have a simple issue. I have 2 accounts that I use, 1 associated with my work email and other with my personal email. Usually, I create notebooks in my personal email and share them with my work account and move notes between them. Lately, in my work account, I cannot send notes to notebooks shared from my personal account. I have a little lock icon Shared notebooks show a little group icon. "Uber" is my latest shared notebook, and it doesn't show that group Icon. Is there a limit as to how much notebooks you can share between accounts? Do I need a premium account? I've attached some files and appreciate any help you guys can bring me. BTW, I use Evernote web and the Evernote app in Android. The attached screenshots are from the Evernote web & Android app. Once Again, thanks, guys!
  3. I would find it extremely useful to be able to change the colour of the notebook hyperlinks that other parties see. If I share a notebook with my mum, for instance, the shared notebook links are blue on my computer but red on my mum's. This would be all well and good if the contrast were better, but Mum and her middle-aged eyes are having trouble reading the titles of our shared notebooks.
  4. I want to share a notebook but have been unable to. It’s my first attempt to do sharing. I created the shared notebook, populated it with some notes, and invited my colleague from within the notebook in EN for Windows, but he can’t see the notebook. BTW: I’m a premium user on a PC. He has a free account and works on a Mac. By some unknown, completely unmemorable series of actions I took, heaven only knows, I seem to have been able to get us to share EN “workchat emails," if that's what you call them But that’s as far as we’ve gotten. Other key information: I'm fairly saavy with computers. My colleague is not. His capacity to tolerate computer frustration is lower. He has this quaint idea: "I will use my computer to do useful things." He has not endured enough frustration to realize that this a goal to which he may aspire, but that he must soldier on regardless. So, there is the risk of souring a relationship and opportunity to work together that hangs in the balance. Also, too: I have brown hair. My colleague is bald. The whole experience has been the brown leading the bald. At the rate it is going, it will soon become the bald leading the bald, if you catch my meaning, if you get my drift. Why should people have to stumble around with something as basic as sharing functionality? I ask this not to sound grumpy. Consider: The EN folks in Deadwood City, CA continue to presume a level of computing sophistication among EN users that, as Will Rogers said, “just ain’t so.” EN’s own tacit working knowledge about how to use the app is anything but obvious to many of their users. I would appreciate any guidance and links to possible solutions.
  5. I have search to no avail to find an answer to this question. I am a premium user and am sharing notebooks with my co-workers. I found out yesterday that EN will not let my boss tag a note he created in a shared notebook with a tag that doesn't exist yet. I had to go into the note myself and tag the note. Is this correct? Is there a work around?
  6. As a long-time EN Premium User (who exclusively have been using the Mac application) I love the option "filter by tags" that you can use in every notebook. But now I've just realized that when I share a notebook and then open it in a browser then you can't use the option "filter by tags" which I find extremely annoying and unproductive. Because now I can't recommend Evernote for my company (where I work as an an archivist) since the whole idea was that I could enter thousands of sources and then the staff at my firm would be able to find what they're looking for through the "filter by tags" option (where you either scroll down for the right tags or search for the tags you're looking for). How come this vital option isn't possible in the web version of Evernote? Or did I overlook something? ?
  7. I am working on an emagazine designing and publishing project with a client who is in another country. Basically what I need is something like an FTP server where I can receive high resolution photos from my client. I am living in China and China has blocked sites like Dropbox and other web storage sites. EN isn't blocked and according to EN: "Evernote Premium users can allow others to edit their notes". So I went ahead and upgraded to a premium account. I have found (after much googling) how to use the shared notebook feature but EN isn't as user friendly as I thought it would be: 1. I have shared a notebook with myself - premium account on my company email address and free version on my personal email account just to test it out. After inviting myself to a shared notebook, I seem to only able to open the notebook using EN Web - the shared notebook didn't show up after I logged in and synced in my free account. The web version is extremely unfriendly and seem to lack a lot of features. Or am I doing something wrong here? 2. After much clicking about I finally found a way to create a new note in my free account within the shared notebook. However, I can't seem to add pictures in the notes. Only the texts show up. So... my question is, is EN even capable of fulfilling my requirement apart from giving my client the password to my premium account? EN support is rubbish and hasn't replied to my ticket for days now. Thanks in advance! -S
  8. When moving a note from Account A to a notebook shared from Account B, a dialog appears: Only tags that are already in this notebook will be added to this note. That dialog only has an "OK" button. It should also have a "Cancel" button so the user can, if desired, add all necessary tags to Account B. As it stands, the user has to force-quit to avoid losing tags. [EN on Mac]
  9. Title says it all! When I change a notebook from Private to Public - does that mean the Notebook is made available to search engines? I want to share a notebook with class members but some of the material is special things our professor has shared with us. Am I exposing her information to being indexed by Google or other search engines?
  10. I've been using Evernote fine this whole year and for most parts, it works great when you use it primarily between yourself. Recently, I've started using the Notebook Sharing feature of Evernote towards the tail end of last year and it worked without a hitch till recently. Now, I don't know if it is because of the new version that was installed but a couple of problems started surfacing. While they were minor ones, they've been enough of an annoyance that i'm starting to reconsider it's usage. 1) The activity stream no longer updates me when there is a change made by people whom the notebook is being shared. (Feature works fine for the other user who is on a Windows) 2) Activity stream still shows my old email on the activity during the times it does decide to refresh itself 3) There's been times when a seemingly random number is used instead of my Profile name or email. The number has been consistent and I am assuming this is a number that is linked to my account. 4) The activity streams are not synced between my desktop and laptop. Both show different notification despite being the same updated versions. The few times I have had to use Shared Notebooks earlier last year, it's worked out without any problems and it feels like it is after the updated version, problems started surfacing. Without notifications, it feels pointless to use the Shared Notebook feature. Google Drive's system seems to be a better alternative with real time updates on the edits. The Work Chat function is a joke since it does not even sync up with other people on whom i am sharing the notebook with. The previous method of sharing a notebook worked way better. This is one part of my disappointment with Evernote of late. The other part will be continued on another thread to keep this post to the point. Anyone else encountering such problems with Evernote?
  11. Similar issue to Windows bug, but I also wanted to include the infinite loop I encountered on OS X 10.10.2. Person 1(Windows) makes notebook, includes note with tags, shares with Person 2 (Mac). Person 2 accesses shared notebook, all tags are added to their lists. Tags cannot be nested or deleted. Even if P1 deletes the original notebook, deletes the tag and permanently erases the notes, P2 will still have the tag visible. If I rightclick on the tag and try to delete it: “Are you sure you want to delete the tag ‘UnwantedTag’? You cannot undo this action. [Delete] —— Can’t delete ‘UnwantedTag’. This tag is in a shared notebook. Would you like to remove ‘UnwantedTag from all notes? [Remove Tag from Notes] —— Tag is now shown with zero notes, but if I try again to delete the tag I'm given the same series of messages. Syncing and restarting the program doesn't change anything or fix the error.
  12. I have Evernote Plus running on a Mac and iPhone. I shared a notebook with my wife that includes 30+ tags. She also uses a Mac and iPhone. The shared notebook, notes, and tags appear on her Mac. However, on the iPhone the tags do not appear but the notebook and all notes do appear. Thank you for your assistance,Mike
  13. How do I access all my company's shared notebooks? There is a notebook my boss and asked me to go join, and in the typically web version you would simply click on the company name in the left hand tool bar and all the notebooks you could join would appear. In beta, there is no company name in the left hand toolbar. What's the best way to get around this?
  14. so... I'm using Windows EN client. Out of nowhere one note from my college in Business was moved to my "Personal" collection under "Unsynced Notes". This note was originally in a Business shared notebook that I have view-only access. It's now missing in the original shared notebook and I cannot move it back. When I checked Evernote Web, the note was perfectly in where it's supposed to be (in the shared Business notebook that belonged to my college). What is going on here? More importantly, how do I fix this weird movement I did not make? thx
  15. I've just set up a shared notebook for articles/resources related to the use of consumer EEG headsets and improving learning and attention skills: https://www.evernote...chler/bcishared If you want to participate, please join the notebook. It only has one eight articles right now on using BCI (Brain Control Interfaces) to improve the attention skills of those with ADHD, but it will grow rapidly over time. -- roschler
