  1. My husband and I have a shared notebook, and it is very annoying that he can not add new tags (since it is I who own the notebook). Is it possible to make that an option when you share a notebook with someone. Now there are a few options per user: Can view, Can edit, Can edit and invite. We would really like something like: "Can edit and add new tags". For us it seems strange that this is not an option, but maybe it is hard to implement?
  2. There's a big feature missing in evernote shared notebooks. There should be a feature of getting notifications and alerts when someone edits a share note or notebook.
  3. Hey guys! I believe I have a simple issue. I have 2 accounts that I use, 1 associated with my work email and other with my personal email. Usually, I create notebooks in my personal email and share them with my work account and move notes between them. Lately, in my work account, I cannot send notes to notebooks shared from my personal account. I have a little lock icon Shared notebooks show a little group icon. "Uber" is my latest shared notebook, and it doesn't show that group Icon. Is there a limit as to how much notebooks you can share between accounts? Do I need a premium account? I've attached some files and appreciate any help you guys can bring me. BTW, I use Evernote web and the Evernote app in Android. The attached screenshots are from the Evernote web & Android app. Once Again, thanks, guys!
  4. I would find it extremely useful to be able to change the colour of the notebook hyperlinks that other parties see. If I share a notebook with my mum, for instance, the shared notebook links are blue on my computer but red on my mum's. This would be all well and good if the contrast were better, but Mum and her middle-aged eyes are having trouble reading the titles of our shared notebooks.
  5. I want to share a notebook but have been unable to. It’s my first attempt to do sharing. I created the shared notebook, populated it with some notes, and invited my colleague from within the notebook in EN for Windows, but he can’t see the notebook. BTW: I’m a premium user on a PC. He has a free account and works on a Mac. By some unknown, completely unmemorable series of actions I took, heaven only knows, I seem to have been able to get us to share EN “workchat emails," if that's what you call them But that’s as far as we’ve gotten. Other key information: I'm fairly saavy with computers. My colleague is not. His capacity to tolerate computer frustration is lower. He has this quaint idea: "I will use my computer to do useful things." He has not endured enough frustration to realize that this a goal to which he may aspire, but that he must soldier on regardless. So, there is the risk of souring a relationship and opportunity to work together that hangs in the balance. Also, too: I have brown hair. My colleague is bald. The whole experience has been the brown leading the bald. At the rate it is going, it will soon become the bald leading the bald, if you catch my meaning, if you get my drift. Why should people have to stumble around with something as basic as sharing functionality? I ask this not to sound grumpy. Consider: The EN folks in Deadwood City, CA continue to presume a level of computing sophistication among EN users that, as Will Rogers said, “just ain’t so.” EN’s own tacit working knowledge about how to use the app is anything but obvious to many of their users. I would appreciate any guidance and links to possible solutions.
  6. I have search to no avail to find an answer to this question. I am a premium user and am sharing notebooks with my co-workers. I found out yesterday that EN will not let my boss tag a note he created in a shared notebook with a tag that doesn't exist yet. I had to go into the note myself and tag the note. Is this correct? Is there a work around?
  7. After sharing a notebook with someone and one of us updated the content of that notebook we should get some type of email/notification letting us know that someone has updated the notebook with new content or changes something?
  8. As a long-time EN Premium User (who exclusively have been using the Mac application) I love the option "filter by tags" that you can use in every notebook. But now I've just realized that when I share a notebook and then open it in a browser then you can't use the option "filter by tags" which I find extremely annoying and unproductive. Because now I can't recommend Evernote for my company (where I work as an an archivist) since the whole idea was that I could enter thousands of sources and then the staff at my firm would be able to find what they're looking for through the "filter by tags" option (where you either scroll down for the right tags or search for the tags you're looking for). How come this vital option isn't possible in the web version of Evernote? Or did I overlook something? ?
  9. I am working on an emagazine designing and publishing project with a client who is in another country. Basically what I need is something like an FTP server where I can receive high resolution photos from my client. I am living in China and China has blocked sites like Dropbox and other web storage sites. EN isn't blocked and according to EN: "Evernote Premium users can allow others to edit their notes". So I went ahead and upgraded to a premium account. I have found (after much googling) how to use the shared notebook feature but EN isn't as user friendly as I thought it would be: 1. I have shared a notebook with myself - premium account on my company email address and free version on my personal email account just to test it out. After inviting myself to a shared notebook, I seem to only able to open the notebook using EN Web - the shared notebook didn't show up after I logged in and synced in my free account. The web version is extremely unfriendly and seem to lack a lot of features. Or am I doing something wrong here? 2. After much clicking about I finally found a way to create a new note in my free account within the shared notebook. However, I can't seem to add pictures in the notes. Only the texts show up. So... my question is, is EN even capable of fulfilling my requirement apart from giving my client the password to my premium account? EN support is rubbish and hasn't replied to my ticket for days now. Thanks in advance! -S
  10. When moving a note from Account A to a notebook shared from Account B, a dialog appears: Only tags that are already in this notebook will be added to this note. That dialog only has an "OK" button. It should also have a "Cancel" button so the user can, if desired, add all necessary tags to Account B. As it stands, the user has to force-quit to avoid losing tags. [EN on Mac]
  11. Title says it all! When I change a notebook from Private to Public - does that mean the Notebook is made available to search engines? I want to share a notebook with class members but some of the material is special things our professor has shared with us. Am I exposing her information to being indexed by Google or other search engines?
  12. I've been using Evernote fine this whole year and for most parts, it works great when you use it primarily between yourself. Recently, I've started using the Notebook Sharing feature of Evernote towards the tail end of last year and it worked without a hitch till recently. Now, I don't know if it is because of the new version that was installed but a couple of problems started surfacing. While they were minor ones, they've been enough of an annoyance that i'm starting to reconsider it's usage. 1) The activity stream no longer updates me when there is a change made by people whom the notebook is being shared. (Feature works fine for the other user who is on a Windows) 2) Activity stream still shows my old email on the activity during the times it does decide to refresh itself 3) There's been times when a seemingly random number is used instead of my Profile name or email. The number has been consistent and I am assuming this is a number that is linked to my account. 4) The activity streams are not synced between my desktop and laptop. Both show different notification despite being the same updated versions. The few times I have had to use Shared Notebooks earlier last year, it's worked out without any problems and it feels like it is after the updated version, problems started surfacing. Without notifications, it feels pointless to use the Shared Notebook feature. Google Drive's system seems to be a better alternative with real time updates on the edits. The Work Chat function is a joke since it does not even sync up with other people on whom i am sharing the notebook with. The previous method of sharing a notebook worked way better. This is one part of my disappointment with Evernote of late. The other part will be continued on another thread to keep this post to the point. Anyone else encountering such problems with Evernote?
  13. Similar issue to Windows bug, but I also wanted to include the infinite loop I encountered on OS X 10.10.2. Person 1(Windows) makes notebook, includes note with tags, shares with Person 2 (Mac). Person 2 accesses shared notebook, all tags are added to their lists. Tags cannot be nested or deleted. Even if P1 deletes the original notebook, deletes the tag and permanently erases the notes, P2 will still have the tag visible. If I rightclick on the tag and try to delete it: “Are you sure you want to delete the tag ‘UnwantedTag’? You cannot undo this action. [Delete] —— Can’t delete ‘UnwantedTag’. This tag is in a shared notebook. Would you like to remove ‘UnwantedTag from all notes? [Remove Tag from Notes] —— Tag is now shown with zero notes, but if I try again to delete the tag I'm given the same series of messages. Syncing and restarting the program doesn't change anything or fix the error.
  14. I have Evernote Plus running on a Mac and iPhone. I shared a notebook with my wife that includes 30+ tags. She also uses a Mac and iPhone. The shared notebook, notes, and tags appear on her Mac. However, on the iPhone the tags do not appear but the notebook and all notes do appear. Thank you for your assistance,Mike
  15. How do I access all my company's shared notebooks? There is a notebook my boss and asked me to go join, and in the typically web version you would simply click on the company name in the left hand tool bar and all the notebooks you could join would appear. In beta, there is no company name in the left hand toolbar. What's the best way to get around this?
  16. Someone has recently stopped sharing their notebook with me but I am still seeing all of their Tags. I have synced several times over the past few days and they still show. The ability to delete these tags is grayed out. Anyone have a fix?
  17. Hi, I have recently deleted a shared notebook. The tags that were used by the shared notebook are still showing in the tags list of my windows desktop app. There are no notes associated with these tags. They are 'empty'. The persistent tags only appear in the windows desktop app, and not the browser-based app, nor the android app. When I right-click the tag, the 'Delete...' option is greyed out. I assume this is to do with permissions. EN version 5.2.1. Did a complete reinstall just in case. I also tried syncing from the android app, and opening the web app. Neither device shows the tags in question, but they persist in the desktop app. The extra tags are a distraction I could use without (and the main reason for un-linking from the shared notebook). Any assistance in the removal of these tags would be most appreciated. Cheers, Mark
  18. I have a free account in Evernote and friend who has a Premium account has created a Notebook and invited me to share it. In the beginning it was working fine but all of a sudden I started to have problems and lost the access to the notebook. My friend tried to rename it and sent me a new invitation but I never got it, all I get are chat invitations which are not enough to allow me access the notebook. Finally I´ve created a new account with another email address and still, I keep getting chat invitations. Could someone help me ? My friend is a Mac user and I am not, could it be the problem?
  19. When i try to add new tags @ shared notebooks, message saying 'you can only add note's original tag' do i need to unlock 'share' to tag and then share again?
  20. Hello! In a shared notebook, the default order for displaying notes is "Date Created (newest first)." I am creating a notebook with notes that need to be ordered in a specific order (by title). I am wondering if it is possible to change the default display order so that notes are displayed by title when the notebook is opened. I realize the notes can be reordered simply by selecting "Title (ascending)," but some of the individuals accessing the notebook will be technologically-limited. As a matter of clarity and efficiency, it would be great if the notes could be displayed as I need them upon opening the notebook. Thank you! Nick
  21. Hi, So my girlfriend and I both got the Evernote client on our Windows PC's (One with windows 8 and one with Vista). I have shared a notebook, that my GF got full rights on, and that is synced to her client. Lately we have seen a specific issue more and more which is this: When I delete a note in the shared notebook, the note stays in her notebook, even after we have synced both clients. I can see that the content of our other notes is synced, but for some reason the delete of the note does not get registered. We have checked through the web interface, that the note is deleted on the servers. We have tried deleting her repository/local DB from Evernote, and when we do that, and make a new sync, then she gets the right notes, however the next time I delete a note, the same thing happens. If she tries to delete the same note in here system, then she will get an error when she tries to sync - most likely it seems that the delete info send to the server gives an error, as the note doesn't exist anymore. I should mention that some of the notes in the notebook are created through a 3. party app (developed by me) and the API, but I know the problem have been there both for notes I have created through the regular client and through the 3. party app, and the 3. party app never deletes any notes. So I hope that someone knows a permanent fix for this - hopefully a solution where we still can use the Windows client, or that the developers of the Evernote client can fix the local DB, so that it gets updated correctly, if that is the issue. Best regards, Rasmus
  22. Hi all, I have few notebooks shared with my boss, and when I want to move one note from a notebook to an other one, the tags disappear. My boss is a premium user, I am not. Thanks a lot for your answers. Claire-Marine
  23. Hi I have shared a number of notebooks with another user. The notebooks and notes sync fine but all the tags do not seem to have synced. I would like for her to add tags to the notes she adds to the shared notebooks. The tags already exist in the shared notebook and she can see those tags in the notes I have added. But when she tries to add any of my existing tags to her new notes it gives an error about the notebook must already contain the tags and her tags disappear. I can find plenty grumbling in the forums about not being able to add tags to shared notebook but nothing about tags not syncing. Any ideas? Thanks Mike
  24. Hello, I shared a notebook with someone but the other person cannot do an advance search (for example tag:productivity). A normal search in the shared notebook is working as expected. I just want to know If I'm the only one with this problem or is a premium feature. Thank you.
  25. I've joined a publicly shared notebook and can view the notes in it fine in the web browser and on my phone. However, the notes are not syncing to my desktop client. I can see the notebook in the notebook list but there are no notes. When I check my activity log it shows the following: 19:29:52 [9908] 100% Missing share key or global id for notebook "xxx" shared by xxx I believe this issue actually started a few weeks ago as I noticed today that a few of the notes in the notebook had been updated more recently than what was reflected in my desktop version. For example, a note in the web version shows a note was updated four days ago but when I was viewing notes in the desktop last night, the most recently updated note showed a date of February. I know too that in scanning my activity logs the last couple of weeks I have seen the same "missing share key" message but didn't think anything of it as I just figured nothing in that notebook had been updated recently. I have: -Removed/re-added the notebook multiple times. -Logged in and out of both desktop and web accounts. -Tried various combinations of the above - removing notebook via web and desktop, logging out, logging in, re-adding notebook via web, etc. -Uninstalled and re-installed the desktop client. but still no sync. I'm using Win7 and on EN version 5.2.1.3108. Anyone else experienced this or should I open a support inquiry? Thanks!
