  1. Hi all, I am currently having an issue with the searchability of documents when using the Scansnap Cloud service. I am currently using an Scansnap ix500 scanner. WHEN I DO USE SCANSNAP CLOUD (WIRELESS) Currently, I have Scansnap Cloud set up such that all documents go straight to Evernote (as can be seen in the first attached picture). However, when the documents arrive in Evernote, they are not searchable/OCR'd. WHEN I DON"T USE SCANSNAP CLOUD (WIRED) When I have a wired connection and send the documents to Evernote through Scansnap's "quick menu" (from the included software CD - see the second attached picture), the documents arrive in Evernote and are indeed searchable (OCR'd). Why am I having this issue? At first, I though that the WIRED option runs the OCR on my computer and THEN sends it to Evernote (whereas under the WIRELESS option there may be no OCR on the Scansnap Cloud server side before it is sent to Evernote). However, doesn't Evernote have OCR capabilities on their end as well (and so it shouldn't matter whether the document has been "pre OCR'd" before arriving)? Or is OCR only a premium feature?
  2. I'm a big fan of Evernote in general and I'm using the Premium version of Evernote for some time now with a Fujitsu ScanSnap 1500. I had great dreams of using the Evernote 'searchable PDF' option to scan in all my paper and find stuff using text search when needed. But, despite numerous promises, Evernote have failed to deliver a PDF search that reliably highlights the searched text in the search results. Usually I end up with one result (the first, as a rule) with correctly highlighted text, and the rest of the list either have no highlighted results, or can have all kinds of random highlight spots, often on totally blank areas. Evernote have been aware of this problem for many months now, but it has not been addressed in any of their updates. I'm very disappointed and frustrated by this 'Evernote Premium' behaviour.
  3. Hi, I use a scanSnap scanner and have always had it set to make searchable pdf's. Somehow the setting got changed and now i've done a heap of scanning to just plain pdf. From what I've read EN should make them searchable anyway but this is not happening. I can't select text in the pdf like I usually can and when I search for text within the pdf it doesn't find it. Help! How do I make them searchable? Thanks.
  4. Hi, I'm trying to scan documents on my Fujitsu SnapScan S1300i to create OCR searchable PDFs which are automatically attached to a new Evernote note. Seems like it should be easily doable - the profiles in the SnapScan software allows you to create a profile where OCR and Evernote applications are selectable. But what I've found is that if I have the OCR box checked AND the Scan to Evernote option selected, it will create an OCR searchable file (eg. can search for text on Preview) but no Evernote note is created. If I uncheck the OCR box, then it will create an Evernote note but the scanned file opened on Preview is not searchable. Has anyone else had this experience, or can anyone suggest why this is happening? Thanks
  5. Question: I am curretnly running the free version of Evernote on my mac and am thinking about upgrading to the premium service in mid January. I have access to a scan snap scanner at work so I was consdering going completly paperless at home and scanning all my paperwork in with the scan snap. However, if I scan all the documents in now, will they beome searchable when / if I upgrade to premium in Janaury?? Can someone help please - I do not want to spend time now scanning and then find I have to rescan to make them searchable!!! Many thanks Rich
