  1. Note links were an excellent addition to evernote, so I can now cross reference my notes. However, I would like to be able to link to a saved search or tag in a note. I tend to have a master note for a project that links to all the bits of information related to that project. This can be cumbersome and time consuming to keep up to date using note links. The tag system is great here, because I always tag my notes with the name of the project, its a natural thing to do when creating a note. It would be cool if I could link to that tag, so that when reading / reviewing a note, I see in my see also section of my note a link that will run a saved search or tag search, so I can see all other related notes, without having to maintain the links between my notes manually. See Also Evernote Notes (tag:Evernote) or Evernote Project (search:Evernote)
  2. I believe one of the biggest improvements that can be made to Evernote without changing much of the product's base is to promote Saved Searches to a "first-class citizen" status, like Notebooks and Tags. After a while, just tags and notebooks are not enough to organize everything, so I rely heavily on saved searches to use Evernote. But the functionality is very hidden and not very intuitive to use. My suggestion would include some things like: 1. Place a "Saved Searches" icon on the sidebar, along with "Notes", "Notebooks" and "Tags" (same hiearchy) 2. Implement a screen to admin saved searches like Tags. Doesn't even need to have hierarchies or anything complicated. Just a place to see a list of saved searches, create a new saved search and remove. 3. Improve flow to create a saved search. The current "Edit > Save Search" is very obscure. Maybe show an icon along with the clear icon on the search bar? 4. OPTIONAL: Ability to link to a saved search inside notes. Thanks!
  3. Hi guys. I was just wondering, is it possible to add a link to saved searches within a note? Or perhaps add it into a hyperlink of a word on a note, such that by clicking that word, the saved search manifests itself? Would be useful for me. Many thanks.
  4. Hi, until the last update, I was a happy user of the widget. I had two saved searches combining tags, so I had a To-do list on my phone for work and one for personal business. After the last update and three new widgets, my workflow is ruined. There's really no way to get a widget showing the tags I want, and I don't want to reorganize my complete workflow. Anybody knows about an app that would let me do this, or can tell me if there's a suggestion page somewhere for the app developers? I was quite disappointed when I noticed that the saved searches option in the widget was gone. Cheers Joris
  5. Due to the lack of a rate noting system, I use tags to rate notes. So I award tags from § to §§§§§, the more §s the more important notes. Let's say I want to see all notes rated §§§§ or above added since last year. I can perform a smart search like created:year-1 tag:§§§§* to find all new important notes. The smart search works. However, in Evernote 5 (5.5.2) it is impossible to save this search. When saving the search, it will be converted to created:year-1 tag:"§§§§" Thus, the saved search no longer finds top-rated notes.
  6. I may have missed this, but is it possible to reorder things in the left hand navigation area? In particular I would like my Saved Searches section to appear above my Tags Section, so that (in order) I see Notebooks, Saved Searches, Tags, Attributes, Trash. Thanks, Dave
  7. I use EN extensively. I'm striving to expand my use to make EN my overall project management system in lieu of Omnifocus. I'm using EN Business on a Macbook Pro Retina, iPad Air, and iPhone 5s. Overall, I'm very pleased. However, I have run into two frustrating but related problems. 1. Shortcuts saved in EN on the Mac are not syncing to the iPad and iPhone (I DO have the option to sync shortcuts selected in preferences). When I click on the shortcuts on the iOS device, there are not notes showing. 2. Saved searches in EN on the Mac are not syncing to the iPad and iPhone. When I click on the saved searches on the iOS device, there are not notes showing. I am running the latest versions of EN on all devices and the latest operating systems (iOS 7 and Mavericks) on all devices. Is anyone else having these problems? Has anyone found a solution? Thanks in advance for your assistance! Barrett
  8. Is there a known problem with accessing saved searches using the latest Windows client for Evernote? I can create the saved searches but cannot see them by double-clicking in the Search field. I can access them perfectly when I log into the Web client. Any way around this problem would be appreciated. It is extremely frustrating. Thank you, Rosanne
  9. The way I view it, both tags and saved searches are there to filter and narrow down the selection of notes until I have found the note I am looking for. I use both in to roughly the same extent to narrow down the amount of shown notes. Evernote specifically provides for that option, because I can select a saved search, and then further narrow down the number of notes by clicking a tag with the CMD key pressed down. That way, the saved search will stay active as a filter while the additional tag filter is applied. However, if I select a saved search first and then select one or several tags by CMD-clicking them, there is no visual indicator showing me that the saved search is still active as a filter. As a counter example, I can once again provide a screenshot from Bibdesk. There, I can select both a "smart group" (that is a saved search) and one or several tags by holding the CMD key down, but the GUI actually indicates that the smart group is still active. Granted, if a saved search uses the positive occurrence of tags as a search criterion, these will be indicated in the sidebar. However, many search criterions used in saved searches are more complex than that (absence of certain tags, title contains. etc.) See screenshot: https://www.dropbox....w2nwi2/scr1.png Furthermore, in Bibdesk, I can actually select several smart groups at the same time, meaning that their respective filters are applied simultaneously. This makes sense if one views saved searches as filters. See screenshot: https://www.dropbox....5rjnda/scr2.png PS: Once again, I failed miserably at uploading my screenshots here. The file uploader keeps telling my that files in the 100-200 kb range are "too big to upload".
  10. Trying to start a task-management program (Getting Things Done, for those interested - like so - http://www.thesecretweapon.org/) using Evernote There are multiple combinations of tags used, and the easiest way to get to the task lists I need is to use saved searches. This works like an absolute dream in the Windows client, and I set out to figure out how to use the saved searches in the Android client. It wasn't obvious to me how to get to them, so I started with Google. Came up with this article: https://support.ever...ote-for-Android The screen shots seem to be from an earlier version, but it gave me confidence that the feature was there. To wit: "Unfortunately, it's not currently possible to create new Saved Searches in Evernote for Android, but it is possible to run existing Saved Searches; just tap the mangnifying [sic] glass:" So I should be able to run existing saved searches in Android. I assume that means searches I created in the Windows client. And that's where I hit the wall. It didn't seem to matter what magnifying glass I tapped, I didn't get the same pop-up. I tried entering the text of an existing saved search, thinking it might be clever enough to auto-fill. No dice. Then it hit me. The saved searches sync! Had I synced since I created these searches? Apparently not. Seconds later, my saved searches are showing up under the search bar right below the search history entries. Anyway, I had already started writing this post, and just in case there was some fellow noob out there searching for this topic (or someone who happens to need a great pre-built implementation of GTD using Evernote), I might as well record it for posterity. Cheers
  11. Just getting started using Evernote, and have run into a bit of problem in the application of Saved Searches. I've created a saved search for "all notes with files", and would like that to be applied to whatever notebook I am currently in (or select). As it stands, it only shows results for the notebook in which I originally created the search. When I view the search parameters in the Web version I see: "Match: Any filter resource:application/*". The original search I entered into the Mac client was simply "resource:application/*". Am I missing something? Thanks, David W.
