  1. Hi I run an old version of Evernote (2.1.0.327). I have been taking notes for several years and it has been good. Upgrading to Windows 10, I am unable to install this version of Evernote. I keep getting an error. Something about "failed to load a dll:enlnst" and Setup terminates Has anybody seen this problem? So I then thought of installing the latest version, export all my notes from the previous version and import it in the new version. In the newer versions, it is unable to import older note version files. So does this not work? Am kind of stuck now.. A
  2. Working with a specific note in its own window and Evernote main window minimized to dock. When clicking on the dock icon to bring the note back to the front, Evernote main window is also restored, obscuring the note being used. It then has to be re-minimized. This is inconsistent with behavior of other applications on Mac when multiple windows are open.
  3. I am trying to recover a few months of missing log data from last year. Our Evernote data is archived everyday to a server. The archives seem to consist of .exb files, one of which is over 250MB in size. I can't seem to open the .exb files with Evernote. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
  4. I accidentally pressed select all and wrote something, and then lost 6 months worth of a note. It wouldn't let me undo. How can I revert to the previous version of the note.
  5. I've looked everywhere and I find that you can make a copy of your databases for backup purposes, but what happens if you move that to Dropbox on your local drive instead? Wouldn't that be a backup. Dropbox lets you go back and restore files if needed. So rather than C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Evernote\Evernote\Databases, just change it to something like C:\Dropbox\Evernote?
  6. Issues with Restore of Evernote HTML Backup (Export) Some users are exporting their notes as HTML as their primary Evernote backup. I have found the EN HTML export has severe limitations and is NOT well suited for restoring your Note(s). Evernote offers two formats for export: ENEX -- ✅ recommended for backup and restore HTML -- ⚠️ not suitable for restore The ENEX format works very well, and stores/retains most of your Note metadata (see below for details), EXCEPT for Notebook. For that reason, many, including me, recommend exporting Notes for each Notebook to a s
  7. Restoring Notes From a Mac Time Machine Backup As far as I can tell, there is no easy way to restore selected Notes from a TM backup. If you know of an easy way, PLEASE post it here -- all us Mac users really need it. EDIT: Thu, Jan 7, 2016 Since I posted this thread, I have written the following procedure: How to Restore Selected Notes from Mac Time Machine (TM) to EN Mac GrumpyMonkey and I got into a discussion about this in another thread. Our discussion was really off-topic for that thread, so I decided to start a new thread where we all could properly discuss thi
  8. I'm using Evernote 6.1.1 with OS X 10.11.1. I recently did an erase and install on my Macbook, and installed a fresh copy of Evernote, did a sync with the cloud, and have almost all of my data. Except I have one or two local only notebooks I forgot about. I have a Time Machine backup, and was able to find Evernote in the /User/Library/Containers folder. I tried putting that in the /User/Library/Containers folder on the new system, but didn't see the local folders. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  9. Just for posterity... For those who stumble across this thread via a forum/ Google search, here's a straightforward blog post on how to back up and restore your Evernote data: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2932989/syncings-not-enough-how-to-back-up-and-restore-your-evernote-data.html The premise is the following: "Syncing's not enough... syncs can go awry. Cloud services can go down. Here's how to ensure your notes are there when you need them."
  10. Hello, I have the basic evernote. I changed the mobile device associated with my account and without wanting to remove the mobile device and my laptop (windows). How do I restore the two associated devices to which I am entitled: the evernote on my laptop and my new phone?
  11. I don't know how this happened but I realized that 90% of the note which includes my To Do list is missing. Since it's already synced from my laptop to phone, I want to pull the old copy from Time Machine. I've been reading several documents trying to figure out how to do it and I'm stumped. I don't know if my problem is on the Evernote end or the Time Machine end. To be safe, I exported all notes which have been modified since my last backup into a .enex file. I just can't figure out how to import my last backup. From this: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557, I
  12. After I upgraded to Windows 10 I regularly find that my notebook have been rebooted while I slept. I have a seperate desktop for the Evernote client and usually 5-10 windows open with notes. This setup is lost on every reboot, so my feature request is that the Windows client remembers windows open, their size and position and asks if they should be restored when starting next time. Just like Firefox! Thanks :-)
  13. I'm not sure how it happened, but I overwrote a note--and extremely LENGTHY note with a lot of information I wanted to save. Is there a way to restore it to a certain date? This is on my Android phone.
  14. This is my first post here, but I hope it'll be helpful for some people. Earlier today I was writing a bunch of notes on my Nexus 7 (2013) tablet. After a couple of hours I was tabbing between different apps on the tablet, but when I got back to Evernote almost all of my notes were gone. The first sentences I wrote was all that was left. Devastated I searched the forums for help and finally after looking through different threads I found a solution to my problem, which I'll share here. Might not work for all of you,but hopefully someone might be able to get their notes back. First thing I di
  15. I'm looking at using Evernote for important business files, etc. If I decide to do this, I need to know that there is a backup happening somewhere in case something happens (such as a crash, Evernote disappears, you know, things you don't want to happen). Can anyone help me be reassured that I won't lose my files should the unexpected happen? thanks!
  16. thankfully this is a hypothetical quesiton if i delete a note from a notebook, then delete it from the trash, then buy evernote premium afterwards, can you recover that note ? thanks
  17. Usually you hear horror stories of people losing data because they didn't backup, but in my case, my horror story is due to a slip of the mouse, and I accidentally selected "Restore Deleted Notes" when right-clicking on the Evernote "Trash", instead of "Empty Trash". Now I am staring in horror, watching Evernote restore hundreds of deleted and redundant notes to my account, because the "Restore Deleted Notes" option does not warn you that it's about to restore the deleted notes and give you an option to abort the operation. I dont suppose there is any way to "undo" a "Restore Deleted Note
  18. Questions: 1) Which EN file on a Mac stores my local non-synced notes? I'm using EN v6. 2) How do I get the notes out of it and into a new one? 3) After trying to make a hack work how do I get even synced notes back into the desktop app? The Story: Apple had me erase / format my SSD storage drive and reinstall everything from scratch to fix a display problem, it wouldn't wake from sleep. While that worked I've had more than a few challenges getting my apps fully operational again. One problem is that the reinstalled Evernote didn't have my local non-synced notes. I'm using b
