  1. Hi, all I'm sure I can't be the only one to experience this issue, so I thought I'd post it and what seems to be a fix. I'm running Evernote on my Win7 pc and for quite some time it would reinstall every time I opened it up after closing. Haven't had any issues like this on my Kindle or phone, though. As I opened it up today, the same thing happened but it got me thinking about what might be interfering with an installation. I'm running Norton Antivirus protection and know it can be pretty aggressive at times. So, I decided to log out of Evernote on my desktop, then suspend all my Norton protection. I then opened Evernote back up, went to Help and Check for Updates. It downloaded and installed the current version 5.6.4 without any issues. Turned Norton back on, closed out Evernote and when I opened it up again didn't have any issues. Hopefully this may help someone else experiencing this issue. Cheers, Scott
  2. I have an iPhone 7 Plus & 6 Plus and it seems the solution to all my slow herky jerky Evernote v8 woes is to delete the app, power off iphone, back on, reinstall evernote app, sign back in and wait for it to sync. Also helps to change the list options to Small, uncheck images, body text too. This is a pain in the arse that I have to do this every update but it does seem to fix the 5-10 sec freeze issue when opening the app every time. Not sure what the devs are having Evernote try and do when it first loads, I can tell that it's trying to sync but who knows what else. -Premium User since 2009.
  3. Hi everyone, I hope someone out there can help me! Ever since installing the latest update for Evernote on my iPhone, the app won't open - it opens briefly then displays an error message then closes down. I contacted Evernote who have sent me complicated instructions for emailing my notes/data somwhere-or-other so I can delete the app then reinstall it then restore all my notes... seems unnecessarily long-winded. Can't I just delete the App from my iPhone then reinstall it? I thought my notes were physically saved on the Evernote server so they would still be there when I reinstall the app. But when I click the delete button on the app on my phone, I get a warning saying all my data will be deleted - can't believe that's true but I don't want to chance it without making sure first! I didn't realise how much I had started to rely on Evernote until I couldn't use it on my phone any more, so big thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
  4. Hi all.. My windows system is entirely borked. I have to start with a fresh windows 10 install and I need to reinstall Evernote. Are there any essential files that I need to recover from the dead system? If so, can someone point me at the requisite files and their location? I'd really appreciate the help. Simeon Nevel
  5. I upgraded EN this morning and am having many issues with it as the day progresses. At first, it seemed to only work offline, and had a message pop up whenever I tried to turn on WiFi: "Please check your internet connection or try again later.". My internet is completely fine. Then, when I tried to type, it wouldn't let me saying: "Performing operation would exceed your monthly upload allowance" I was really liking the version I had at the beginning of this morning, I think v2.somehting. Can I downgrade this? Or is there a download somewhere?
  6. Hello, Every time I reboot and then open Evernote, it reinstalls. The icon seems to have a little blue bow in the upper right hand corner. Has anyone else had this problem? It's Evernote version 5.9.6, and my operating system is Windows 10. Thanks for your help, Skye
  7. I have been unable to update the evernote app on my android tablet (it was already installed and thus didn't use Google play), so when I tried to update it on google play (as it wasn't working through the browsers) it said "duplicate provider authority". I looked this up and found it was because it was already installed, so uninstalled the tablet version, intending to re-install it from the play store. However I now can't install it at all! The same error message of "duplicate provider authority" comes up... Can anyone offer advice on how to get it back, as I use the app daily. Thanks, -EasDannsair
  8. How to Completely Remove and Reinstall EN Mac Rev 7.2.1: 2018-04-09 16:59 GMT-0500 This question seems to come up a lot recently, and since I could not find a good, official document on it, I put together this set of instructions about a month ago. I thought I'd publish it here where it is easy for all to see and reference. If you find any errors, omissions, or have any concerns about this process, please post below. If urgent, feel free to PM me. Procedure for Full Removal/Reinstall Do a full sync, UNLESS you do not want the EN Cloud Notes to update your local Mac version. Export to ENEX files* any Local NBs and unsync’d Notes that you may have Backup (Optional) and Completely Uninstall EN Mac App and data (click this link to see details) Download the version of EN Mac you want to install Re-download even if you previously have downloaded it For the latest version, from the Evernote.com web site Ver 6.11.1 Build 455059 (recommended) Ver 6.9.2 Build 454158 (download from FileHippo.com; you may need to refresh the page several times) Install the EN Mac version you downloaded Allow it to sync (download in this case) all of your Notes from the EN Cloud. Import the ENEX files, if any, (from Step #2) into this new install * When you export Notes to ENEX, it will break all links to these notes, and the following metadata is lost: Notebook, Stack, Tag hierarchy. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Switch to Direct Download Version (Revised Fri, Dec 12, 2014) IF you just want to switch from the Mac App Store version to the Direct Download version, in most cases it is just a simple as downloading/installing the Direct Download version, and the Evernote installer will do the switch/conversion for you. If you are having problems with the AppStore version, this is highly recommended. 10. Hi there, I am an Evernote Premium account user and I've just had the worrying experience of seemingly losing over 1,200 notes following (stupidly) using AppCleaner2 to attempt to remove old and unused versions of the application from my Mac (OS X 10.9.5). I originally thought I'd lost the online versions too, though now they appear to still be there (tentative phew). I also use Evernote on my iPhone (not sure of the version, where would I find this info?). I currently use version 6.0.5 on my Mac, direct download. Even when synced with my online account, this desktop version is telling me I have no notes, which is a bit concerning. I would appreciate any advice you can give for restoring my notes, as well as some advice regarding safely removing old versions in the future. Thank you, Lydia
  11. Hi All, I am hoping that someone can help. I opened Evernote this morning and it crashed immediately--I made five more attempts and it crashed every time. I was editing a pdf last night when I left work so that is the mode it opened in. I switched my iPad Air on and off no luck. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the app--it allowed my to log in but when Evernote began its inital synch it crashed. I have unistalled and then reinstalled the app three times and no luck. I am using a brand new iPad Air with iOS 7.1.2. I switched off the iPad last night when I left the office. I have Evernote on my iPhone 5 with the same version of iOS and it works fine. Any thoughts or suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Ian Campsall
  12. I'm just nervously sitting through a period of inactivity while my laptop recreates my database - I moved to a new laptop a while ago and had some problems, so I need to remove and reinstall everything. Since I've recommended that to a number of other people in the past, I figure it's karma coming back to bite me in the apps. I took all the necessary precautions - exported notes, backed up the current database, brewed coffee; and then did the deed a couple of days ago. It's taking a while, because Evernote is notoriously slow with this process, I have a lot of notes and because I realised I made a mistake at one point and had to start again. Today. So I'm looking at a lack of Evernote for the next 48 hours at least, while we catch back up again. While I'm sitting here, staring at my desktop, I wondered. Why is it that I can now see snippets, thumbnails and notes in full, while Evernote is still chugging along with the sync? Apparently each note is downloaded and displayed in full for my convenience, even though I'm currently missing 90% of the database and searches would be pretty pointless. I don't plan on adding anything to Evernote either until my note count is back to normal - I can't check whether I already have a note on any given topic, and I don't want to take the chance of interrupting (or slowing) the sync with any other activity at all until it's done. So why the eye-candy? Evernote is obviously doing all its housekeeping in the background and will be ready for action when - eventually - the sync is done. I'd like to suggest an alternative. Dear Developers, Please can you look at a way of allowing someone who is reinstalling or moving their application the option of downloading their database like a normal download file in one hit (if they wish) along with the latest installation package. The download could happen in the background, over a day or two, without requiring that I keep Evernote active on my system or even have it installed at that point. Once I have my install package and the database I can connect everything up and get going. A sync would still be necessary because I might have changed notes online or via another client; but it would be a normal 'update' sync rather than a mega-install. I'm sure there might be operational downsides for Evernote, but from my current client-side view it sure as heck would improve the user experience when reinstalling or moving the app to another computer. Just a suggestion...
  13. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (11.0.03) installed. Clipping pdf files with the Evernote Web Clipper was going fine... Right up until I decided to disable the Acrobat Pro pdf plug-ins for Safari (so that pdf files in Safari would open in the browser's default, not Acrobat Reader). I followed the instructions on the Adobe site here: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html Now, however, I get an error when trying to use the Evernote Clipper, telling me to try reloading the page. When I reenable the Adobe plugins in Safari (by putting them back in the Internet Plug-ins folder in Library, by reversing above instructions), the Evernote Clipper works again. Disable it again—same problem. I've tried uninstalling the Web Clipper, and also tried closing Safari and restarting the machine before each step of changing the plugins—none of that makes any difference. Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to use Acrobat, Safari's preview of pdf's, and Evernote Web Clipper all together—and everything but the Web Clipper works fine. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. W.
