  1. I'm running Evernote 6.13.12 (Beta 3), but this behavior also occurred in the latest non-beta release. Windows 10 Version 1803 Build 17134.81 ********************** After copying an image from Snagit 2018 to the clipboard, I attempted to paste the image into a note. Regardless of whether I use the shortcut key or the Edit menu paste options, the image does not appear. The cursor moves to the right the width of the image, but then just stays there. The image is not visible. This problem is new, and may be related to Windows 10 Version 1803 because the problem did not exist prior to that. Also, the default hot key for paste (Ctrl-Alt-V) does not paste, but causes a new blank note to be created. If I reassign Ctrl-V to the paste operation, I get the same result: a new note gets created instead of a paste operation occurring. If I save the Snagit image to disk, then drag-drop it to Evernote, that works. But it's annoying that clipboard operations are broken. <rant>I am so annoyed at common things that break whenever an update occurs that I'm thinking of giving up on Evernote altogether.</rant>

    paperless PDF vs Image

As I am trying to go paperless, I was wondering what format would it be best to scan in. At first, I was scanning to PDF, but then realized that I when viewed on the web, I do not see the document. Instead I must open a new window to view the PDF. Also Evernote's OCR only does PDFs if you are a paid member. So I choose to scan my files into image format so that I can see the file on the web without opening a new window. I choose the PNG file format for its lower file size compared to the JPG. Recently, I learned about searchable PDF's which have a hidden text layer within the PDF which makes them searchable without Evernote's OCR. I can make these, but it takes more time and steps then just simply scanning the file. So, which should I scan my documents into: PDF, image, or searchable PDF? Thank you.
  4. If I paste a transparent PNG file into a note, it is displayed with a black background. This is a problem when the image has black text on it Is there an option to choose the background color for images? (Or instead of choosing a color, just show the background color of the note -- usually white)
  5. Aloha, This is referring to the little teeny-tiny icon that appears next to the file name field when you're ready to SEND or SAVE a scanned image. It would be helpful if this icon were changed (by color preferably) so it's easier to distinguish the file type at a glance. Mahalo & Aloha!
  6. I've noticed that in Evernote Mac 6.0.13 a JPEG image dragged from the web into a note becomes a PNG, taking up vastly more space than it should. For example, visit https://www.museodelprado.es/en/the-collection/online-gallery/on-line-gallery/zoom/1/obra/annunciation/oimg/0/ which is a 90kb RGB JPEG 520 × 938 called 3a4af4ff99.jpg but when you drag it into Evernote suddenly your usage goes up by 800kb and it becomes D8B58DD4-585D-48C8-B9AA-608FA903A8CE.png which is a 815kb PNG, although still 520 × 938 pixels. Now I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but this sounds like a good way to make sure people blow their 60MB free allowance pretty darn quickly, grrr.
  7. Hi, I do share by email skitch images from my ipad 2 to my iphone 4, and I can't open and see the files. Files are on png format. How do I fix it?
  8. Hello. I've always tried to use the best possible quality file for all screenshots, in-case I need to edit images later, etc. I've notice though that there's differences in file-formats, depending on which "sharing option" is selected. Example: 1. I want to use PNG, and to post the image to Basecamp, so by default I'm working with a PNG: 2. If I select SHARE & COPY URL, the image that's uploaded is a PNG file (the screenshot below in-fact), but it's ONLY a PNG if the option is set to "NOTE URL" 3. If under the Options, if the selection is DIRECT IMAGE URL, the output is JPG— NOT PNG. I thought maybe this was done to save bandwidth in the end (by using a compressed JPG instead of a PNG), but the file-size is exactly the same for both versions of the image. Thanks. OSX 10.8.2 Chrome: Version 24.0.1312.52 Skitch: Version 2.0.4 (262476)
  9. When annotating multiple jpg or png images, EN crashes and restarts my iPad. Is there a limit to the number or size of images EN can comfortably handle? I'd use pdfs but need to have the images displayed (as in MacOS) rather than presented as placeholder icons. Also as others have said, it would help to have the option to turn off the annotation summary in iOS. (It's tedious to revert to MacOS to turn that feature for a number of images.)
  11. Hi All, I am a huge fan of evernote and I am keen to go completerly paperless by scanning to a file any paper I do get. However I am struggling to find an optimal DPI and image format to scan and upload my bills / important papers to evernote. So far I have tried JPG and PNG at 600dpi with file sizes 1-10 and 10-40mb respectively using irfanview because I can specify where to scan each file and they are autonumbered. My problem is if evernote is to be used effectively everything should be stored in evernote - to increase the power of its search. Can anyone suggest a better option as I am only on a free account and uploading even the JPG files will use my 60mb upload limit very very quickly! Any help much appreciated. Josh.
  12. Hi there, thank you in advance for your help. I'm not sure whether this should be posted in the mac section or here but, here it goes. When I clip a rectangle or window to Evernote and create a note I have no problem syncing to the web service. The image shows up as part of my note on my phone, but when I click on the image so I can try to see it the message "image cannot be loaded" appears. This happens even when I have an excellent data or wifi signal. However, when I take a photo with the evernote app via my phone it syncs and I have no problem seeing it on my mac or my phone. I'm using an HTC G2 phone. What can I do to open my images on my phone? Thank you so much!
  13. Firslty, I apologise if this is a simple thing for some, but I don't seem to be able to find a way to save my Skitch images as other than PNG files. In the older version of Skitch 1.0.12 I had a myriad of output file choices, but I have been unable to find a way to change the default. It doesn't appear under Preferences, and the tab on the bottom middle of the Skitch window no longer is there on the newer version. The drag function of the image out of the Skitch window and onto an e-mail or the Mail icon is clunky and often doesn't work first time either, which is just another bug bear I have. To drag and drop requires multiple attempts and then it seems to "stick" in the e-mail. The main reason I want to be able to control the output of Skitch is so that both I and others have a file format that is flexible for me/them, to use. If I attach a great Skitch to an e-mail but my recipient doesn't know the workaround to open the attachment in Preview and then resave it as a JPEG, which is such a pain, then it is quite a limitation. If there already is a thread regarding this I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction. The difference between the functionality of 1.0.12 and the new version is like chalk and cheese, and I haven't experienced such reverse functionality before.
