A bit of Wiki in Evernote

We, Humans, have been using cabinets, notebooks, folders, files and notes to store data for long. Why? Because this used to be the only technology we knew for it. However, It's not the natural way our mind deals with information. Our brain is a network rather than a cabinet. We need to quickly associate ideas, thoughts and all kind of information to be productive and creative! EN would become a killer if it allows more flexibility for outlining information. What about becoming more wiki-style, like some past programs (SeoNote, Treepad) or present services such as Confluence and Notion.so? By doing so, Evernote would allow teams to collaborate and share common places (not notes!) which could be actually workplaces or even hyperlinked Knowledge Bases (not a stack of notebooks!). I think this is the future of information management. I really want Evernote to embrace it.

    Outlining Gets Confused

The outlining seems to get confused and I can't get it back to the numbers that it should be. Also, when you indent, shouldn't it give you like A, B, aa, etc? I have tried deleting lines, Adding Lines, Tabbing, Un-tabbing, etc. Please HELP!
  3. I've been using Evernote for years to make outlines. Early on, it was kind of clunky. Strange things would happen when I tried to delete, cut, and paste. In the last couple of years it seemed to get smoother, but now I'm getting weird behavior again. For example, if I'm working with a numbered outline (ordered list) with several levels of indentation and I cut a line, I will frequently (but not always) see a new line with a new number created at the first level of indentation just above where I cut. And sometimes when I cut multiple lines, the numbers of the lines I cut will not disappear. The text will be cut, but not the lines or the numbers. Weird. My question is, did Evernote do something with the code that is causing this to happen? As I said, I don't recall having this problem all the way through 2015 and most of 2016. But just recently it feels like it's getting buggy again.
  4. [I submitted a support ticket on this but am also reporting this here for greater visibility and others' comments.] There are problems with Outlining that only 'Simplify formatting' has been able to (partially) fix. Those problems (which I've also previously submitted support tickets on) include issues of simple cut and paste in outlining. Replacing Simplify formatting with 'Make plain text' makes Outlining unusable. I have many thousands of notes with Outlining and will have to now move away from Evernote unless this is restored. Please restore Simplify formatting ASAP.
  5. This is a suggested feature for as many platforms as possible - though I use Android, PC, Web and iOS. I have not been able to find a thread for this elswhere, but I apologise if I have overlooked one. My suggestion is for a feature enabling users to create a new note using text in an existing note, so that the new note would be linked back to the existing note, and clicking on the relevant text would take you to the new note (ideally, with an easy way to return to the original note). At present, you have to create the new note first, then copy the note link and insert that in the note you want to link to. My suggested feature effectively reverses that feature, so you have a "parent note" from which "children notes" can be created - without leaving the parent note. The advantages for outlining, mind mapping and similar seem immense. Is this feasible or fantasy? - Justin
