  1. Currently when I click the Evernote icon in the Mac OS X dock to bring it back from a hidden state, it always brings up the full Evernote window. This is annoying. If I have an individual note open and hide the app, when I click the dock icon I want it to show only the individual note. Is there any way to work around this behavior?
  2. I would like to put pin code to my any one of my notes. Not all of them at he same time. Just like Mac OS and iOS notes app.
  3. Downloaded 'Slack' yesterday, an app that went public this past February (2014) and already has a valuation of over a billion. See this for reference/context: http://www.cnbc.com/id/102138343#. Has anyone experimented with it? Would love to hear your thoughts. I've only been toying w/ Slack for a day or so, but here are my thoughts regarding when I think I'll use EN Work Chat vs. when I think I'll use Slack -- EN WORK CHAT -- Share notes from a call that happened. Share a written work (outline, synopsis, short story, etc). Share meeting notes. No desire to engage in small talk with colleagues... only feel like it's there for me to 'share' a written work / notes " ". SLACK -- Discuss a project's next steps w/ team or colleague. Desire to engage in office gossip / small talk / sharing funny pictures, etc. More social-feeling than EN work-chat, which has more of a work or die feel. Conclusion: I don't feel like one app replaces the other, and I'll enjoy using both. Would love others' thoughts...
  4. Today, Apple released OS X 10.11.4. It includes Adds the ability to passcode-protect notes containing personal data in Notes Adds the ability to sort notes alphabetically, by date created, or date modified in Notes Adds the ability to import Evernote files into Notes The first two are features Mac users have been asking of Evernote for years and now it seems Apple is reading this forum more closely and with more conviction than Evernote itself. Will Evernote compete by adding the sorting feature and password feature or concede these issues to Apple? One wonders just how competitive Apple will make notes. I know I could be tempted to switch to save $50 a year.
  5. Quick Context from OS X El Capitan feature list: "...Mission Control also enables you to switch quickly between different desktops – or Spaces to which you have assigned specific applications." EN problem: I have too many notes/notebooks/tags/etc... and though the search function is amazing, i'm often overwhelmed. The search function is top notch, but simply seeing this many notes/notebooks is stressful visually. solution: If there were a way to cut the clutter of notebooks/notes I made years ago & filter my search based on the time I made it (similar to how you can google search something that was posted the last year/month/24 hours), then I wouldn't be overwhelmed. conclusion / feature request: Each year (or whenever my EN gets too cluttered for my liking), I'd like an option to re-build my evernote from the ground up. Here's what this actually looks like - on the left side EN panel, there will be a new column (just like Notes / Notebooks / Tags , etc) that says "Dimensions" (or spaces or whatever EN calls it) that has my 2014 build of evernote notebooks/notes/tags, 2013 build, etc. In terms of adjusting the depth of the SEARCH function, you can toggle in preferences which of your dimensions you'd like the search to cover - whether it be the present one you're working within or all of them combined. Presently, to prevent feeling overwhelmed by all my accumulated notebooks & notes, I've been making separate EN accounts. But my premium purchase only works on one of them... so the added feature of 'Dimensions' would solve that problem Make sense? Would any of you users appreciate the benefit of this? Or not so much?

  8. I'm using the Evernote for Mac version I downloaded from the Evernote site (not the app store). After the most recent update I'm getting beach balls and severe response delays (no text appearing for up to 5 seconds) when typing in notes with bullet points and > around 200 words of text. Smaller notes are fine. The same notes have no problems on my PC or iOS devices so I don't think they are corrupted. I emailed support last week and am awaiting a reply. Has anyone else had/solved this issue?
  9. Is there any app on OS X Mac that will copy a selected text on a website and it's url and when you paste it, it will paste both the copied content and the url below the text.
  10. Hi, I'm using Evernote application on Mac OS X Yosemite. After updating to Yosemite, "Save PDF to Evernote" function doesn't work well. I can use it by doing... 1) viewing a web page on Safari or Chrome 2) command + P (and "Print using system dialog" on Chrome) 3) "PDF" on the bottom left 4) choose "Save PDF to Evernote" but, it goes very slowly. I wait for a minute or two until a new note appears with the PDF on Evernote application. Before updating OS X, I hadn't had such a problem. I'm not sure if this is a problem in OS X or in Evernote. Dose anyone have the same problem?
  11. OS x Yosemite has a share feature in all its applications, yet Evernote does not appear as a destination ( unless its a third party application in which case I do not know how to set it up) Can anyone help? thanks
  12. It is not often that I envy Windows users but one of the few things that I covet is the auto-import feature of Evernote. Ideally I would like is a folder which Evernote monitors, then creates notes using the OS X tags as Evernote tags. I can do most of that with Hazel with an embedded script and a pre-defined set of tags; but it is complex, error prone and will fail if there are new tags created. Unless of course someone has a simpler way of doing it?
  13. I'm a long time user of Evernote from back when it was a little local program in my Windows tool bar. I currently run it on Windows Workstation, MacBook, iPhone and iPad. I always keep the products up to date. Yesterday my MacBook prompted to process an update for Evernote, which I did. Went home, slept, never touched Evernote until this morning. I went to open up a critical ToDo note and it is missing on my MacBook. I open Evernote on my iPad and *I see the ToDo note*. Within a couple of seconds, the Evernote on my iPad syncs and the note is gone on my iPad. It is not in trash boxes. It was not retitled. I have run searches on some of the words within the note -- nothing. The old version of Evernote was in my Trash on the MacBook. I have it saved on my desktop. Can anyone point me to a method to try to recover the note from the older version? I tried to open it as an app, but I am prompted that it is too old. Before I muck anything up, I am searching for and asking here for any help possible. I have severe fibromyalgia and rely on my Evernote notes as my memory and to keep me focused. And of course, I have thousands of notes that would never be missed. This one note with work items for this week is gone. hmmmm. maybe more are missing? Details: MacBook OS X version 10.9.5 went from Evernote version 5.7.2 158.7 MB to Evernote version 6.0.3 161.9 MB
  14. Hello- I could really use your help. I've heavily relied on Evernote and have numerous notebooks containing numerous notes. Today, I lost all of my local notebooks after upgrading from version 2.0.2. I've spent the last couple hours here reviewing threads from others who've encountered same. I have managed to restore the old version which I found in the trash folder. However, I have not been able to restore all of the local notebooks. I have located where I think they reside, "evernote.sql" located in Application Support>Accounts>Evernote>(my account name). The file is approximately 18MB and it is larger than previous versions in TimeMachine, so I'm assuming this is the data file that needs to be restored. Can you walk me through the process or point me in a new direction? Thanks very much!
  15. Hello! In order to save space on our MacBooks I would love to have an option in the OS X App to stop storing everything locally, instead access notes from the web. I think as we are moving our stuff to the cloud, we may rely less and less on local storage in the future and instead have gigabytes of data always available in the cloud. I myself only use Evernote in this way and it is the reason why I have to put up with the web interface, which although nice, logs me out each week and an app interface (just like on my iPhone & iPad) would be the preferred option. Your thoughts? Roman
  16. Hi, Working accross win 7, os x 10.6 and 10.9 (+ iOS and Android). I'm a multitab browser user and looking for easy ways to 'save' multiple or single tab URL's to EN. => On windows I can just highlight the url in the browser - then drag and drop it to EN. A new note will be created with just the URL as a bookmark. I can't seem to do this using OS X? Is there anything I'm missing? (I realize there's services and scripts, but just draging and dropping a url should not be so hard?) Thanks for your help!
  17. I use a screen capture plugin for Chrome (38.0.2125.111) that creates a local png file. Path: filesystem:chrome-extension://[long list of char.]/temporary/screencapture-.png. Somehow the Web Clipper will not clip this image on right click. When clicking the Web Clipper button I get the message: "The Clipper couldn't start on this page. Reload the page and try again. If that doesn't help, contact customer support." Reload, restart does not work. I seem to recal this working previously? Thanks!
  18. Just downloaded OS X Yosemite and it's got me thinking all kinds of futuristic stuff... In the name of evernote replacing email, here's a proposal: Give users the ability to add their personal Evernote WORK CHAT info on their business cards in the form of a small evernote logo (just like the one on your cell phone). Then, they could remove their email address from their business cards. Here's a way evernote might achieve this: Strike a co-branding deal w/ moo.com or another modernly relevant biz card company and give users the ability to add evernote's green elephant icon to their business card orders. Encrypted within the green elephant logo will be your evernote details ... so when another person you give your biz card to uses their evernote camera to snap a pic of your biz card, your evernote details are captured in their account and in turn, you are automatically added to their WORK CHAT friends list. Then, they can send you documents via work chat or request documents from you. This is absolutely something I'd use. Thoughts are welcome.
  19. Fujitsu ScanSnap Manager for my s1300i has stopped recognizing that Evernote for Mac is installed. It reports that it can't find or install EN, even though it's already running. This happens when I try to select either of the two Evernote icons (pdf or jpg). The other menu items seem to work--e.g., I can still save to Google or to a folder, and it can still save as an OCR-enabled PDF. So I can still drag them to Evernote after scanning to a folder. But those two Evernote icons just stopped working. I emailed EN, and the person replied that they only support the new ScanSnap for Evernote machine, and that I should just try uninstalling and reinstalling Evernote--other than that, sorry, can't help you. This seems to have happened approximately when I upgraded my OS to Mavericks; but I'm not sure it was exactly then. But the problem appeared on two different Macs at almost the same time; so I wonder if it's a problem with the OS. This is disappointing, since I think I've seen a number of people on various blogs complaining about a similar problem. I'd think that if Evernote wants to be seen as working well with a scanner, they'd try to support such a popular one. Also it's frustrating because it DID work, and suddenly stopped. Any suggestions?
  20. I just discovered PDF markup in Evernote this morning and was quite excited to start using until I discovered one small issue... When i mark up a PDF, the marks I'm making are visible on the right side in the thumbnails of each PDF page but not on the full size pages themselves. I know they're saving and exist because the file size increases each time I mark it. Has anyone run into this before? I'm using Evernote 5.4.1 on OS X 10.9.
  21. Not a major issue, but since upgrading to OS X Mavericks (from 10.8) I've noticed it takes several seconds longer for Evernote to launch. Not sure if that's because of the new power saving features in the OS (timer coalescing and App Nap and whatnot) or what. System specs: MacBook Pro with Retina, 2.7GHz i7, 16GB RAM, SSD. Anyone else experiencing the same thing...? Update: Just found that if you hit COMMAND+I while selecting the Evernote icon in Finder, the pop-up box has an option allowing you to "Prevent App Nap." I checked that box and sure enough Evernote started up faster. Not sure if this is coincidence (since Evernote might have been cached and thus launched faster) or what...
  22. Hello, First post, hope this is in the right place. Searched around and couldn't find a resolution on the forum. I have been using Premium for awhile now (and love it). I use the Evernote Clipper (is it called helper?) in the menubar in mac OS X to screen-capture images in some of my pdf textbooks for use in working documents, specifically MS word. What I do is take notes in word, screen-capture an image in Evernote, and copy image into the document. When I'm finished with the document, I flatten it into a pdf and upload it into Evernote to be categorized and searchable, etc. So the original image is not important, only the end product which includes the image. The issue I'm having is that every time I clip, the image gets sent to my inbox. I want to send all of the images I clip to a local notebook, so that I can save storage space. I know you can change the default notebook to upload to... but I only want images specifically captured with the toolbar clipper to go to a local notebook. I like everything else to go straight to the inbox. I also use the web clipper for a variety of things, but I want its default notebook to remain as it is. I guess my question is two-fold: first, is there a way to set the toolbar clipper to send notes to a local notebook, while keeping the default notebook as is? Second, if that is not possible, can I quickly move added images into a local notebook after clipping them without eating away my allotted storage? For example, could I clip an image to the inbox, but then quickly move it to a local notebook before the note syncs and counts against me? I could probably just use screen capture on the mac, but that defeats the purpose of Evernote, right? Hope that is understandable... Thanks so much if anyone has tips or input!
  23. Evernote is fantastic (let's not be modest here: sensational) for everyone who want to create or gather simple, easy to access everyday information without a need for consistency (unless they are willing to spend a lot of time tweaking their notes). It is concise and uncluttered. That is obviously a must as confirmed by the millions of users that have adopted Evernote. Evernote is also fantastic for developers who want to create apps that connect and/or add to the native functionalities of Evernote. That is also very important. However, I feel that the power user have been left out in all of this: In a note that contains several images, one cannot select/crop the one image that could be used as the thumbnail. There is a very weird rule about how the thumbnail image is automatically selected and that rule produces some, well, interesting results. For example, I have an article about Vint Cerf that has many images in it. The thumbnail that was created was automatically selected from a black and white image of him in the 60's. That thumbnail showed only his chest area Might as well have been an image of my father or one of Richard Feynman. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference if someone else had done this, titled it "A Great Man", then share it with me. As a matter of fact, I had to delete the black & white image from the article to make Evernote choose a better thumbnail (one where I could actually see his face). Bummer. Remember: an image is worth a thousand words. As a developer, I know it wouldn't be very complex to implement a contextual menu that when we click on an image, if we select, say, "Set as thumbnail..." a little window à la Google Chrome would appear to let us crop/center the image, then click Save. I believe that this option has been requested many times on these forums and one that would probably be very welcomed, even by the casual user. I feel Evernote also lacks other neat features that could be set in preferences like remembering Title fonts and colours (H1, H2, H3, etc.) As of now, it can only remember one text font, one font size and one colour (sometimes it forgets the colour). Without necessarily delving into CSS, a few new basic options could make for a better experience overall and give many power users that consistency they crave (as I do). If you think this may complicate the lives of the everyday, busy busy user, by all means hide the power user features. Don't worry, we will find them . Finally, I notice that while Evernote expands in many directions by adding more and more features, some bugs seem to have been left behind. For instance: The experience with the Snippet views between a MacBook Pro or any OS X device , the iPhone 5 and the iPad 4th generation is inconsistent - 3 devices, 3 different experiences. In other words, what I see in OS X should be exactly what I see on all my iOS devices. Also, that skeuomorphic picture frame over the thumbnails in iOS robs us of precious pixels. Not a big deal but I thought I'd put it in as well. Best Regards.
  24. Hi! I manly use Evernote on Windows and i-Devices. But i also have a macbook pro. My problem is, that all imges are shown as attachments. Is there a setting so show the images in the notes? Google didn work for me. thx for your help!
  25. I'm creating a blank Skitch document and then adding an image from Finder. Skitch places it in the top left corner. How do I change position of the image?
