  1. Suggestion: title. If you expect people to pay for something most other notebook apps offer for free, well good luck with that. I switched from Google Keep because I wanted to try Evernote, but the "no free offline access" even to the notes I take on that very same device is definitely a deal-killer. You have my email. Call me when this changes. Bye.
  2. Huge fan of Evernote. I use it as my personal filing system for all of my scanned documents. Embracing the "true way" of Evernote, I have only 8 notebooks, meaning each notebook has hundreds of notes, but I make thorough use of tags. There are many files that I need to access offline (especially for traveling), such as my ID, passport, medical licenses, insurance card, etc. Right now, I have to make my entire "Personal Documents" notebook available offline, meaning there are hundreds of unnecessary notes taking up space on my phone. I would love the ability to select a tag for offline availability, or to anoint individual notes for offline, a la Dropbox.
  3. Hi Folks, I've got a very simple question. The discussion of premium mode says that Free Evernote is useless when offline - if I'm in airplane mode, or my cell phone provider has hiccups, or I don't want to pay data roaming fees - no Evernote for me. But the guide for new users of Android in discussing syncing strongly implies Evernote for Android is usable offline. I'm looking for a replacement for Note Everything, which worked fine on my Droid II, but declines to sync my data to my new Nexus V. I'm very nervous about data "in the cloud," and requiring that my network connection be up in order to access my data is sufficient to cross Evernote off my list of adequate replacements. So I'm just looking for a straight answer - would I have to pay an ongoing rent to have access to my data when Evernote's site is down, or my ISP is down, or I'm travelling, etc. etc. ? Here are the relevant excerpts: ---http://evernote.com/premium/--- Offline notebooksAccess your notes fast whenever you need them on your mobile device, even without a network connection. Great for travel. ---http://evernote.com/evernote/guide/android/#4--- Automatic SyncBy default, your Evernote account is automatically synced across all of your devices once per hour whenever Evernote is running. Changing Sync Frequency To change how often your account automatically syncs, do the following: Tap the Evernote icon to open the Home Screen Tap the Profile icon Tap Settings Under App Settings, tap Sync Notes Tap Sync Automatically Select how often you want to automatically sync your Evernote account. You may also disable automatic syncingEnable WiFi Only Syncing Users with limited data usage for their mobile device may want to sync only when their device is connected to a WiFi network. To enable syncing over WiFi only, do the following: On the Home Screen, tap the Profile icon Tap Settings Under App Settings, tap Sync Notes Tap Wi-Fi sync only
  4. Hello I mostly use Evernote through the web clipper as a bookmark gatherer (I only record links). I would like to save my bookmark data offline for backup/recording purposes in whatever format (csv, html, json ...). Just like google chrome bookmarks html export. I don't use google chrome bookmarks because it doesn't manage multi chrome accounts (plus bookmarks metadata is very poor). Is there such a feature ? Or if you know better tools/features for my querry ... Many thanks, Raphaël
  5. I am a technology consultant with multiple clients. In any given week I will collect notes from multiple meetings, review work and excel documents that I create or a client provides, take a few pictures of white boards and load PDF's scanned out of hard-copy printed docs that clients give me for review. Evernote appears to do everything I want in terms of taking meeting notes, attaching artifacts to those notes, keeping everything organized and enabling me to go paperless. There is one major issue however, the nature of the information I receive from clients is such that I can't maintain it in the cloud. I routinely get financial statements, payroll ledgers and confidential trade secret information that my confidentiality agreements forbid me from storing on line. So my questions is this... If I am a premium subscriber, can I download ALL my notebooks to my local machine, store all content on my local machine's hard drive and maintain all of my notes and such without posting them into my Evernote account? My "daily driver" is a Mac Air with 128gigs of flash storage. I also carry an iPhone and iPad. Thanks very much. Andy.
  6. As a user, I would like to have the ability to sync a notebook offline, but choose not to sync the attachments to those notes (as the attachments are big and take up space). That being said, if I could in note, choose to sync a certain note's attachment(s), that would be amazing.
  7. I use the free edition. I was on my Samsung with both data and WiFi turned off. I tried to read a note in one of my folders. I did not realize both were turned off. So when it told me it did not have either access, I immediately turned my WiFi on. However, when I clicked on the note in the notebook I was wanting to open the whole note had been replaced by my network providers error screen from the internet. I tried everything I could think of to try to get my note back but it did not work. I then went out to my Evernote on my PC to see if I could recover it there. Unfortunately, EN had already updated and the error screen now populates all three of my Evernotes. My PC version, my android version and my internet version. So what can I do to get my note back and why did it do this in the first place? I can understand not allowing access with WiFi and data turned off but why was there and error message when I turned my WiFi back on. The error said the site trying to be reached was not valid. The only site that it should have been trying to reach is the one that allows my EN data to now be synced with my device. So because apparently the syncing site was not available it used whatever site that was being delivered by my internet provider to read into the note. It did not append it to the note but actually overwrote the note. HELP! Thanks Dave
  8. I can't sync any notes for offline use because it says that a note 'insiders guide to HubSpot...' Is invalid but I can't even find that not to delete it. I'm paying premium fees to be able to use this offline and now can't. Ive tried various things and nothing seems to fix this. I also cannot submit a support ticket and activity log due to the same error notice,
  9. I would like to see - if possible - the iOS app provide feedback on offline notebooks to indicate storage usage for each notebook - similar to that on Android - so in the event space is needed - it is easy to see where to find it across a series of notebooks. Also the number of notes is helpful to identify, manage and verify offline vs online notes.
  10. I'm using EN on 3 devices with all notebooks sync for offline use. I did a fresh install of evernote 8.2.1 and wait till all notebooks are finished to download. Because I have a lot of data to download (16Gb), I've checked the available space on my devices. There was 30Gb and Evernote it takes about 170Mb. But I see that now, after download 16Gb of notes on every device, with all notes sync for offline uses, in the ios settings I see that Evernote it takes 212Mb. So I think that my offline notes are still in a "cache memory". I try to reset memory, restart devices, nothing change. The notes are available for offline use, but there are not in the Evernote directory. To be sure about this I've empty Evernote cache on one device and all notes disappear from for offline use. It is what it happened to me about one month ago when one morning i founded that all my notes disappeared from offline use and En started to download again by itself. So I think you have to don't trust that your notes are safe "backuped" on device for offline use. You can't be sure that your notes are in any moment with you (only for paying users) like Evernote tell us. You can't be sure that ios or Evernote don't decide to empty the memory for freeing space for another app.
  11. Hello, I'm a premium subscriber. I absolutely need my notes when offline. On my iPad Mini 2 Retina, late 2013 (iOS 9.3.4) I had always checked in Evernote (latest version because I auto-update) in preferences "Download All Notes" but today for the first time I'm presented with a warning that says "No Internet connection - Download this notebook to access it the next time you're offline" (shown together with a slider button and an airplane icon on top). I would like to mention that I have often used Evernote without an Internet connection, successfully viewing any of my notes! This error is completely new to me. I have tried to change the global settings to "Download Selected Notebooks" and there I have selected *each* of my notebooks but the problem remains. It appears that I have to view a note when online and only there after that note is offline available as well. This is a new behavior! I'm using Evernote for several years successfully on iOS, syncing with the cloud. It can't be that I have to dig through each notebook and view it when online, just to make sure that I have it also when offline. I have professional notes on Evernote that I need to be able to access for my job when in the basement of buildings – it is crucial for my work. I just paid my annual fee and I'm willing to pay more next year due to Evernote's new subscription model. Am I the only one with this issue – is this a new problem? Thanks, Martin
  12. I noticed the other day that when I am offline, searching in my offline notebooks is no longer accurate. More specifically, searching for a given term in an offline notebook returns far fewer hits than when online and searching within the very safe offline notebook. Support is trying to tell me this was fixed recently, but I just tried the same search and the results were the same. Four hits when offline and 14 hits when online and searching within a particular offline notebook. Are other people seeing the same thing?
  13. Hello, I use Evernote on several devices How do I syncronize notes without Internet connection? Via bluetooth or wi-fi may be? In theory it is possible to do this with Tasker and AutoInput But more natural and simple solution would be much better! Thank you in advance!
  14. Hello All, My company blocks access to Evernote servers. However I really what to use Evernote to manage my professional notes. I would like to know if I can setup Evernote to run with a local database only. Ideally this database will be on my company network. ( One note can do it, but I dont want to migrate...for now) I want to keep it simple and I don't no need mobile synchronization. Is there any way? Thanks Philippe
  15. Good evening. After updating Evernote for my laptop earlier today, it prompted me to select a subscription plan by essentially showing me the https://www.evernote.com/subscriptions/manage page. There it says for the Plus members "Access notes when you're offline". I find it rather confusing to see that on a desktop application which (I would've thought) keeps the notes stored on my HDD and only syncs them. Does this mean that the regular Windows application is now (or in the near future) going to access notes the same way as mobile applications do (i.e. using the local hard-drive as a cache rather than note storage)? Or does that particular perk speak about the mobile applications only? Can someone clarify? Thanks
  16. Hi everyone! I'm creating a little python application you can use to backup your entire evernote. Basically it opens a little dialog with all your notebooks, ask yuo for a local directory and you can choose wich notebooks to exports. The application will create a directory with the notebook title, an md file for every note in that directory and if the notes has attachments the app will create a directory with all the attachments inside it. This dir will have the name of the note. I would like to hear your opinions: 1- do you think it could be a useful application? It is for me, but I don't know if someone else could find it useful. 2- do you know if there is already something around doing quite the same things? and, maybe for the future, if you want to try it, let me know! Thank you! David
  17. It will be good to show icon is note cached or not on a left side list of notes. It can be shown next/below reminder icon. It is disappointed when you try to open and see "No internet connection" message. See this icon in advance will be more user-friendly.
  18. Having premium subscription, when I am offline and try to open not-cached note, I see "No internet connection" message The message suggests "download this notebook" , but it doesn't show the name of notebook. So I can't decide, do I want to download the notebook or not. It will be good to show notebook name to avoid ambiguity.
  19. Hello Evernote Community! I am about to leave for a trip that will take around 10 years, maybe a little more. I will be completely away from both civilization, and an internet connection. I very much want to have an easy way to collect my research, thoughts, writings, and everyday notes in one place during my trip. I have seen colleague's using Evernote, and entered information into their Evernote notebooks for them during experiments and meetings, and I very much enjoyed the UI and the different features. Here now we get to my problem: Since I will be away from civilization, and the internet, for 10 years, I am unsure how to go about using Evernote. I have noticed some limitations, when already attempting to utilize the Evernote software while offline. First, I could not find a way to get it to work while offline and with no way to verify my online account. This is going to be a problem. Since I had no account configuration file yet, and had no internet access, I could not use the software. This is a problem, because during my 10 years away from civilization and the internet, I will almost guaranteed have to re-install windows at least a dozen times, and if I end up losing the configuration files with my account information, I need to be sure that I can still use the software after a fresh install (from USB drive). Next, I can only find a way to pay for a single year of premium. So, how can I pay for 10 years of the premium subscription now? Also, when the single year ends, how do I convince the software, without an internet connection, that I have paid for 10 years? Will I be able to get 10 product codes? Or is there some other way to re-enable the software before then? Finally, is it possible to sync using bluetooth between an android based device and a windows 10 surface based device while completely offline? It will be nice to be able to leave the surface in one place, and use an android watch or android glasses to check, add, or update information in my notes. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions! If this will not work, I will hate to have to spend the next few days trying out other software. I leave for my trip on Friday, and will not be able to respond after Thursday mid-day.
  20. Hello I wonder if somebody can explain what's happening with my account. About 12 months ago I took out Evernote Plus and thought it would be a great help in planning for a European Holiday. Every article on Paris and Italy was duly saved into Evernote with copious tags. Everything I could think of was saved into my Europe Folder. tickets, itinerary, passports, contracts, tours, train tickets, restaurant guides.....you name it I saved it. Upon arrival in Paris though I was met with the dreaded 'aeroplane' icon telling me my notes weren't available off line. Now I'm having to photograph everything to save into my camera roll on my phone. What a let down and a great disappointment. My question is: why can'y I access my notes and notebooks off line? This is why I'm paying for Evernote Plus. As soon as I get a wifi signal my notes are back, but I don't want to use free wifi if I can help it; another reason why I planned using Evernote Plus. BTW, everything was working fine off-line at home in Australia, but as soon as I hit Europe, no luck. Is there something I am missing? Any advice much appreciated.
  21. I paid for Evernote Plus in order to get offline access to my notes. I want to see my notes and update them on airplanes and so on. But the app often doesn't work. The note usually does not appear. Can anyone tell me the problem? Should I get a refund?
  22. I guess the title is self explanatory. I have subscription with Dropbox of which offer better flexibility for me if I can host my own notes in Dropbox instead of using Evernote's cloud service.
  23. I need to access notes on my Mac when I am not online. However, when I'm not connected to the net, I get a log in window that obviously won't log me in, and apparently nothing is available offline. Actually it won't even let me make a note when I am offline. What gives? I have a premium account. I read somewhere here that notebooks can be designated for offline use. I looked all over for such a feature. I tried preferences and right-clicking on a notebook. I looked at every menu I could find. Nothing tells me how to do this. There's something called a local notebook, is that what I need? Will that be synced when I get online? I have jillions of notes. I want to share them across devices. But I am often no online. What to do? Please help me.
  24. Hello, I am a student searching for interesting way to manage all my documents (pdf) and web article (news,...). In that way I searched, I think, a lot of different softwares and I think I can't find what I want, even if it's quite "easy": - I don't want online storage (cloud,...). Privacy is important and we can actually have 200go on a usb key size so why should I store and "abandonned" my security to someone else ? - I want to be able to work on the pdf: to put marks, tags, to search texts on it. - I want to be able to keep News and blogpost from mozilla or from my phone and just transfer to that software (copy and past or by using USB and not some random online transfer). So I just found desktop Evernote Premium which looks better than the free Evernote and I am ready to pay for quality, but I would like more informations and I am also wondering something. If I use the offline mode: - Can I use the Web Clipper just by transfering to the desktop evernote (not going through online server ?) - Can I use the Evernote app (android) and transfer notes to the desktop evernote just by using usb ? - If no, Can I deactivate the "transfer to the Cloud" setting ? Like if I click on "synchronization" I just want to receive files and not send it (from online to laptop and not laptop to cloud). Last thing, in my mind I just use the software offline: I don't want "online storage" (cloud) so I don't understand why should I pay the software monthly ? (I mean I understand if it's just to pay more ) Like I would prefer to pay for the software a global price and then, if I need, to pay for storage (okay it's not what you want I guess but you should consider my point of view I think). Thank you for your answers, PS: please I never posted on this website but I know some people (on some forums) don't care about security and privacy, if you're in that case you don't need to spam the topic, thank you. PPS: I think it's on the good category, if not I'm sorry, just change it, thank you
  25. i need to create a notebook on my iphone that is never synced to anywhere other than my personal computer. is this possible?
