  1. I am trying to organize my tags by nesting them. Every time I move a tag into a nested group that group automatically expands taking up that much more space in my tag window. I have to close it to free up space in the window and get back to moving more tags. Is there a way to keep it from doing this?
  2. I have two Win7 PC's running EN Windows. On my desktop pc, I nested tags. After syncing both computers, EN on my laptop is showing some, but not all, of the tags duplicated. So for example: MyStuff camera camera The 'camera' tag is duplicated and clicking on each shows the same notes. This issue appears only on the laptop (the nesting was performed on the desktop). One of these tags seems to be a 'ghost' tag. Meaning, I can rename, move, or delete one tag, but can perform none of those functions with its duplicate (I can right click on the ghost tag and select rename or delete, and I can drag the tag, but none of these actions takes effect). In the tag list (reached by clicking on 'Tags' in the left column) on the right side of the screen, the duplicate/ghost tags aren't listed. Any ideas on what's going on or how to resolve?
  3. Hi, I spent ages implementing a new tagging system with extensive use of nested tags, only for all the tags to unnest when I synced with Evernote. I see in the Evernote web client that nesting is not possible, and have read this is only possible in the desktop client. Anybody experienced this issue with the Evernote desktop client or Nixnote? Is this a bug in Nixnote? Seems unlikely they would have missed this during testing. Thanks
  4. Please consider nested tags as a feature in the iPad app. I realize this isn't really a forum question, I just haven't found a place to add feature requests. thanks.
  5. Hello, We recently signed up to test Evernote as a possible cloud replacement for our server-based document management system. We need to set up several hundred tags that fall into a tag hierarchy, but I cannot see that this can be done under Evernote for business (only personal). Doing some preliminary research on this issue shows me that this issue was raised as early as February 2014 and we are now almost a year later. Can anyone tell me if this feature is implemented yet. If not, is there any real push to get this feature implemented or is Evernote for business ceased development? It confounds me that this feature was not migrated from Evernote personal as business would need it even more than individuals to have any hope of organising the tags that would be needed to run a business effectively. Any help appreciated. Thanks Regards Mark
  6. I just started nested tags few days ago, as part of The Secret Weapon - GTD. At least twice (for several tags) some of the nested tags have been deleted – not by me. I don´t know I did in the first instance, but just now I added a note from Andorid app. As the nested tags do not show up in Android App, I manually added the tag there. As soon as the note was synced to my desktop application Win 7 – Evernote ver. 5.6.4.4632 (272632), the nested tag had been deleted. The new note was the only one with that particular tag, and the tag was no longer nested. I can add that the tags that have been deleted all, so far, seem to have had non-English characters in them. Any ideas? Do nested tags not work well ? Are nested tags not supposed to show up in Android? Regards Helgi Bjarnason
  7. Having set up a couple of nested tag hierarchies in Evernote, I need to do some reorganization & I find it time-consuming to drag tags from one group to another, as both sets of tags are rather large. The only way I know to move a tag from one nested set to another is to drag it. This is a very slow process with large sets of tags. Yes, I know I shouldn't have let them grow large, but that's where I am! It would be nice to have a cut & paste facility to do this, but I haven't found it. I did think of temporarily renaming tags to move them up to the start/end of a group to reduce the wait while dragging to another group, but this seems a bit clunky. Does anyone know of easy ways to move tags between large nested sets? Thanks in anticipation. UPDATE: there's been an excellent answer (see below)
  8. Great product. Just have a running list of things I'd like to see and questions. Thought I'd post on here. I might be being thick with some of this, so any suggestions welcome! Boolean search. Location based reminders. An shortcut to get back to the home screen on mobile apps and/or a quick note shortcut from anywhere. Apply reminders to smart stickers, in the same way as post-its. Apply more than one tag to smart stickers & post-its. Resolve any conflicts in using multiple stickers arising from the above by ordering the stickers in a list. I've never actually tried using stickers - I'm just saying. Apply different notebooks/tags to different Mokeskin notebooks. Bring back the alphabet scroll bar for tags on iOS (only working a bit smoother). Ability to see/apply nested tags on mobile apps. Ability to select multiple notes in mobile apps, to apply tags more efficiently. The ability to drag/drop a note on a saved search, then have all the notebooks/tags associated with the search applied to the note. Are there any other quick ways to apply multiple tags that I'm missing? Optional calendar integration. Could EN make entries in iCal or Outlook when reminder dates are set? Default notebooks/tags for different cameras (photo, document etc.), emailed items and all the different options on the quick note bar. Resizable icons in the markup/Skitch part of the app. Sometimes if I have a handwritten todo that I want to apply the ticks to in markup, the ticks are too big to be useable. On mobile apps, have notes with not-done reminders appear at the top of a list, with a demarcation as to which notebook they're in - in exactly the same way as the desktop apps. I know you can press the reminder button to get this, but would be nice to be one tap easier. The "-" doesn't seem to work as I would expect in a few instances. I'd like a saved search that filters out all done items, and items with no reminder set. If I do "-dateDone:day1000" for example (or whatever the syntax is, I know that's wrong) it omits any results that have not-yet-done reminders. Any suggestions on a workaround?
  9. To make reorganizing groups of nested tags much easier, please implement a cut/paste feature so I can quickly move tags from one hierarchy to another without having to drag them. Dragging (1) is slow (2) only allows1 tag to be dragged at a time. e.g. ctrl & click to select one or more tags, right-click & select 'cut' from context menu, right-click on destination tag (to own these tags) & select 'paste' from context menu. This would really help to speed up tag hierarchy reorganization tasks. TIA! Alan
  10. Let's say you have a lot of notes with some tag and want to further organize them by using note links to make an overview note, similar to a table of contents. And you would group notes there in any way you like and etc. Let's ignore the fact that you can't do it on iPad at all. (except using remote desktop app) This is what even the blog posts says about note links "Create a table of contents for a selection of notes. Whether you’re working on a study guide or planning your wedding, you can use Note Links to get ahead of the game. Create a new note and add Note Links for things like Notes: October, Notes: December, etc. or “Guest List,” “Flowers,” “Vendor Numbers.”" So far so good. You have made this overview note with note links and organized it all there really nicely. Now what you have basically is a tag which has an overview note with all its notes organized there and the notes themselves. It's all in a flat list but you have to look only at the overview note because all notes are there in the form of note links and are organized in categories and subcategories and what not. But then eventually you added some notes to this tag. And you didn't think about this overview note at the time because it was out of sight. Then after some time you go back to review notes with this tag. You see lots of notes in a flat list and also an overview/table of contents note with most but NOT all notes listed there. And there is no way to really check what's there and what's not. It's not apparently noticeable. So things get missed. And you don't even know. This basically means you have to organize notes in 2 separate places. One workaround I can think of is using an additional tag for each tag to hide notes which are already organized in some sort of overview note. For example you have tag "evernote" and then also an additional tag "evernote-organized as note links/organized in table of contents" or something. Whenever you add notes as note links to an overview/table of contents note for this tag you also tag them as "evernote-organized as note links". Then after a while you could go back to this "evernote" tag and do a search for -tag:"evernote-organized as note links" to hide all notes which are already organized in some sort of overview/table of contents note. This would make it easy to see if there are any new and "unorganized" notes in this tag which are missing from an overview/table of contents note. Basicaly this would pretty much double your amount of tags which is quite an incovenient workaround. Hopefully you understand what I mean... This is one and only reason I'm going to avoid using note links for "table of cntents" kind of notes which would have been useful otherwise... Any ideas?
