  1. Is there a way (and if there isn't could you please feed this into your new features requests queue) to automate sorting of notes that land up in the default notebook into other notebooks according to title, tags and content. Please note that I am aware of the features of being able to put notebook names and tags in the subject line of an email and these are NOT suitable for my situation. I am also aware of IFTTT but cannot find any recipies that do what I need to do. At work I am working on anythign from 3 to 10 projects at a time. Each project has a unique 6 digit code. Whenever I send an email relating to a project I put the project code at the start of the subject line. I am gradually training my co-workers to do the same. In Outlook 2010, our corporate mail client, I have rules set up to put any mail with the project code in the subject line into a matching category, for mails from co-workers who don't yet put the project code in the subject line (now few in number) I manually add the category. This means that if I want to find all the emails to do with, say, project 104985 I just have to filter by category to category 104985. Now I'm using Evernote more I'd liek to set these rules to forward project emails to my Evernote email address. Unfortunately Outlook doesn't support adding to subject lines when you forward with a rule so I can't specify the notebook name in the subject line. Ideally what I'd like to be able to do is set up a macro of some kind that will periodically scan through my default notebook and apply sorting rules to each item. As a minimum simple rules like "If the title of a note contains the string '104985' then move it to the '104985 do the thing at the place' notebook" and the ability to set priority of rules (simple move up or down a list and execute in the order of the list, once a note has triggered a rule the rest of the rules aren't executed for that note). Ideally also be able to call other rules from within a rule and have them execute so the above rule may call a rule that is something like "If any line in the body of the mail contains the strings 'From: *John Williams*' or 'To: *John Williams*' or 'CC: *John Williams*' (where * is, in common with many systems/applications, a wildcard for 0 or more characters) then add the tag 'Half a Job'".
  2. Hello brand new evernote user here. I was curious if there way a way for me to automatically have the font in a highlighted section converted to a certain type of font with a specific colour and size.I wonder if there is a way to assign a shortcut to say a specific font object and have it applied . Something like that would be a life saver for me.
  3. Keyboard Maestro (KM) Macro to Copy EN Mac Note Title to Body with URL For details and download, see the KM forum: MACRO: [EN] Copy Evernote Note Title to Body with URL Evernote does not show the Note Source URL very well in the Note header, and it is often not visible. This macro resolves that issue by copying the Note Title to the top of the Note Body, and creating a hyperlink using the Note Source URL (if available). If not available, then the URL can be optionally obtained from the clipboard. Please feel free to post any bugs or issues you find, as well as suggestions for improvement, in the KM forum thread.
  4. Keyboard Maestro (KM) Macro: EN Apply Std Format Ver: 1.0 Last Update: Sat, Feb 14, 2015 Requires: EN Mac 6.0.6 or later Download Macro from: KM Macro Forum: Evernote Mac Apply Standard Format One of the missing features often asked for in Evernote is text formatting Styles, much like what is used in MS Word. This KM Macro is an attempt at providing a very limited "Style" that can be quickly applied to a selection of text in an EN Mac Note. It is NOT a true Style in that there is NO provision to update the Style, and then all text that use the style are automatically changed. But if you, like me, have a need to often change the text format (like from a EN Web Clipping) to match the default font/size you have set for EN Mac, then maybe this KM Macro will help. You will need to review, and change if desired, the font and size that are applied by the KM Macro. This KM Macro applies the following style: Font: Verdana Text Size: 14 pt This KM Macro makes use of the KM Action "Move and Click", selecting the position to click based on the image of the Notebook icon found in the upper, left corner of the EN Note Content panel. If this NB icon is not there, has changed, or has been move, then this KM Macro will fail. How To Use: Select the text in the Note to be formatted Press the KM Hot Key (current set to CTRL+OPT+CMD+F) I am very new to Keyboard Maestro (KM) and I welcome all feedback. Please feel free to post (or PM me) any errors, problems, or suggestions that you might have. Regards, JMichael EN Profile (to send PM)
  5. I originally posted this on the Keyboard Maestro Forums, and user, JMichael suggested I put this here. This KM macro will help you very quickly add rich notes to a research inventory note. For those of you who don't know about Keyboard Maestro, just know that it's one of the most powerful automation and productivity tools that exists for Mac. The SituationI'm a research assistant, which means I do a whole lot of grunt work. Often my professor gives me a book with markups in the bibliography and my job is to go and get them from the library and if they're not there, request them through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). I like to make a detailed list of the books I need so that I can just print it out and take it with me when I make my library run and so I can send an inventory to my prof. To find the books, I do a search on Melvyl, a worldwide university library catalog. When I find an item, I want to record its vital information in an Evernote note: The item titleThe call numberA link to the listing page for future referenceThis obviously means a whole bunch of copy/pasting and window switching, i.e. menial work. The MacroMelvyl Listing to Evernote.kmmacros1 (13.8 KB) The automation process centers on getting those three points of data onto their own clipboards and pasting them in the desired fashion. The real awesomeness is that it all get's accomplished with a single keystroke! This is possible thanks to @ComplexPoint's help in using the Execute a JavaScript in Google Chromeaction. The item title and call number each have a unique HTML class, so the script will return the content of the elements with those classes and store them in named clipboard. The macro then does some text cleaning (I'm a formatting freak) and we've got everything we need! I hit the hotkey and end up with: How Would You Use It?This is very specific to my own needs, but maybe the process looks familiar to you? This has already saved me a boat load of time and tedium. If you can adapt this to your own workflow, share it! I realize that parts of this are a bit hacked together, but I don't really know JS (or any scripting language for that matter) so if anyone has any suggestions on streamlining this, let me know!
  6. Keyboard Maestro Macro to Copy Evernote Note Text Selection For those of you who might like to automate EN Mac, you might find this helpful: KM Macro to Copy Evernote Note Text Selection The macro may be downloaded from the above link. Due to a change/bug in Evernote starting with Ver 6.0.3, KM is unable to copy selected text in an EN Note to the clipboard. Using an approach developed by another KM user, Donnel Lu, I have created a reusable, callable, KM macro to copy selected text into a KM variable, which then can be used in many ways, including putting on the standard clipboard as well as named clipboards. Once on a clipboard, you can process it in many ways, including applying formatting styles. Please let me know if you find any bugs/issues/limitations/improvements.
  7. Hi, When conducting research, I like to aggregate the note links in one "parent" for all of the notes that are part of a particular research project. Right now, the process I follow is to: 1. copy note link 2. locate parent for the research project 3. scroll to the bottom of the parent note 4. paste note link Is there a macro that I can use that will automatically perform this workflow? Even better, I would love for all notes tagged with "research-project-name" to be automatically added to the "parent-note-for project," regardless of how many projects I have. Has anybody solved this using IFTTT, Zapier or a macro (using keyboard maestro or something similar)? Thanks! BT
