I find it frustrating that local files cannot be clipped using the evernote browser clipping tool. I appreciate it is presumably for security reasons but I think the message that appears when you try to do it does not suggest a recommended work round ie download the file and then import it into evernote for example. Despite knowing the issue I keep stumbling on this and would appreciate if the wording at least could be made more user friendly.
Is it possible to launch a 3rd party app from an Evernote note? I have a note which helps me schedule my guitar practice sessions - it has headings like 'Theory', 'technique', 'backing tracks' etc. I have various applications which support my learning - books on Kindle, apps which help with chord structures etc. It would be good for example if, against a heading 'Theory' I could include a link (?) which, on clicking, launched my Kindle app. I already use links to other EN notes and to external web pages - this would be similar but would apply to other applications on my Mac any takers?
Is there a way to have EN showing the preview of a local file (excel, word, pdf, etc.) linked in an EN note via a link similar to file:///Users/<username>/Dropbox/Evernote/excel_file.xlsx (Mac link but for Windows would be similar)? What I'm doing is to keep some shared documents in Dropbox, so I can work collaboratively with other people, and link these in EN ideally having a preview of the document in the note itself. Then, If I need to work on the file, I'll open it on my machine with the editor I prefer. I specifically don't want to copy files in an EN note because at the moment I find it cumbersome for different reasons, although in that case I would have a perfectly working preview of the file. Thanks
