  1. I'm having problems with Evernote and numbered lists: My problem with lists is shown in the following snipit created on my Microsoft Windows 7 version: 2015-06-29_11-49-51.bmp The list was created using a numbered list and entering Leonard , then moving to a bulleted list for the next line, then going back to a numbered list for James. What I'd really like is for Evernote to return to the previous list and number "James Crocker" as "2" instead of starting a new list. The other odd behaviour is in the following screen capture where, after cutting and copying a line to a new location, it ends up as having two numbered lists associated with it: 2015-06-29_12-11-34.bmp Every HTML editor I've ever worked with can do this correctly; how do I do this in Evernote?
  2. I create lists of things I need to do. I prioritize my time by reordering the list and removing items when they're done. I want to be able to reorder the list easily using buttons, hotkeys, or drag and drop. This seems like such an easy feature to add to both the web and Windows versions. Reordering lists as priority changes are crucial to my system. Having to copy out of EN into a text editor (notepad++ for me) just so I can CTRL+SHIFT a row up and down and then having to copy it back so that I can view the changes on my other devices leaves me at risk of losing my changes. I copy out, reorder and forget to copy back. For me, checkboxes don't work. If I'm done with a ToDo, I want it out of my view. CTRL+SHIFT+D should delete the current row in the list. If I'm scanning down through my list and I see items that need to be done before the one at the top of the list, I want to be able to move them to the top. Clicking on that line or highlighting any part of any line and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+UP should move the selected rows up one row, CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+UP should move it up all the way. Alternatively, you could drag and drop them.
  3. Evernote is good at making numbered lists and sub-lists of numbered lists that are also numbered in the same way. For Example: 1. 2. 3. 1. 2. 4. I don't know why anyone needs that functionality? Couldn't the sub-list use capital letters instead of numbers? This would allow anyone who is trying to make a basic outline to follow a traditional form without a lot of time spent formatting.
  4. A new product thread about Tangle sparked some discussion about whether or not information in Evernote was siloed away, and how it might be possible to link notes back out into the real world so information and connections are not forgotten. Here's a link to the original discussion and the posts that started this thread - I suggest we continue that discussion here here to avoid hijacking that thread totally!
  5. I've kept daily to-do lists in Evernote for years. I'd love to have a pretty little (customizable) jingle and stars (or hearts) when I complete a task and check the box! Dopamine hits are part of what keeps users hooked on social media apps. They are also the "reward" part of creating good habits. If you could add this little fun feature to task completion . . . it would ROCK my world. It would make your app more FUN and therefore even more useful. Who's with me?
  6. I have a general to-do list, and a garden to-do list. I would really like to have them in the same note, side by side, so that I can see both. Is there any way to do this with EN?
  7. I need to see the tags in the lists. Without this it is impossible to use. You suddenly hid them, and there the information necessary for searching and navigating, the description of the content. Earlier in the lists I could see the content type: file, schema, article, instruction. Now I can not.
  8. I've been using Evernote for years to make outlines. Early on, it was kind of clunky. Strange things would happen when I tried to delete, cut, and paste. In the last couple of years it seemed to get smoother, but now I'm getting weird behavior again. For example, if I'm working with a numbered outline (ordered list) with several levels of indentation and I cut a line, I will frequently (but not always) see a new line with a new number created at the first level of indentation just above where I cut. And sometimes when I cut multiple lines, the numbers of the lines I cut will not disappear. The text will be cut, but not the lines or the numbers. Weird. My question is, did Evernote do something with the code that is causing this to happen? As I said, I don't recall having this problem all the way through 2015 and most of 2016. But just recently it feels like it's getting buggy again.
  9. I use Evernote for academic purposes and I'm often selecting several bits of text to add to the same note via the Mac services "Add to Evernote". At the moment, Mac service Evernote create a new note for each addition. I would like an option that is "Add to existing/selected note" and 'Add to new note"
  10. Hello, The Evernote User Experience Research team would like your input! Would you take this short survey to tell us how you use bullet lists, numbered lists, and checklists in Evernote or other text editors / word processing apps? https://goo.gl/forms/lBMX4odCkv0fvRNh1 Many thanks! 11. After a certain 6.x beta update a week or two back - I don't recall which, and I was expecting another update would fix it, but the original update appears to have caused an actual change in the order of the ENML tags for bulleted lists in the content of all? most? of my notes so the lists are all effectively upside down now. D C B A Four Three Two One It's not what I'd classify as serious, though when combined with the usual issues with bullets, which seem to be worse now, I'd definitely tag it with ^Major PITA Apart from the usual issues with bullets, and the issue with numbered lists, I haven't seen a thread addressing this problem specifically. If there is one, then I'll happily delete this and move there instead. EDIT: this comment / sub-thread addresses it insofar as to say if you took the risk of using beta versions then there's nothing that can be done and you're on your own. I'll leave this topic here as a top-level reference to that comment, and the follow-up.
  12. Hi, I want to create numbered lists with extra information under each item. Please see the attached file for an example of what I want. Can lists like these be created with Evernote for Mac? Thanks!

  14. Is it possible to have a simple sorting/reordering option for lists? For example, when I create a bulleted list it would be ideal to be able to sort it ascending or descending either numerically or alphabetically. That would mean I can work within Evernote much more rather than switch between Word, Google Docs, and Evernote.

  18. Hi, as stated in the subject the "List indent increase/decrease" keyboard shortcuts (TAB / TAB+SHIFT) don't work inside tables in Mac. I used them on both Mac/Windows but since I updated Mac Evernote to 6.0.10 they don't work anymore (Win version seems fine). Now when I press TAB/TAB+SHIFT the text cursor moves to the next cell of the table instead of increasing/decreasing the list indent. I hope you can sort it out. Thanks
  19. Hi everyone! I'm new to Evernote and I was wondering if there was a way to add additional information to items my notes that are lists without cluttering the look of the list. I know you can add as much as you like to a list including photos, links, and long form text, and that a more simplified version of what I am describing could be achieved by insetting bullet points under the primary list items with the additional information, pics, or links -- But I make a lot of lists and some of them are quite long and complex, so I was wondering if there is a collapsable version of this that would keep the list looking more streamlined and as a result easier to brows through and manage. I will give two short examples to further illustrate what I mean as I realize I may not be explaining it well. Say I have a very long list of movies I love, and with each movie I want to include a brief summary and my personal thoughts. I wouldn't really want to clutter it by having the descriptions and my thoughts (which could be lengthy) initially visible under each primary list item. Is there a way to have sub-notes (I don't quite know what to call it) which, by clicking on any given movie would expand out? Say I went on a vacation and made a list of all the cool places I went to and all the great restaurants I ate at. In this list I would want to include pictures for reference but if I included pictures under every item the list would look very bulky and become unwieldy. Is there a way to expand and contract the photos attached to specific list items so that they are not initially visible and the list can appear stream-lined?Thank you so much for your help and thoughts!
  20. I love using Evernote on my laptop, but not so much on my iPhone. Can I be the only one who finds it hard to jot a quick thought in the Evernote iPhone app? Because of this, I developed a fast app that's great for quick notes and (especially) lists, and saves back to Evernote. It’s called UpWord. I’d love to hear if anyone else finds Evernote’s iPhone app a bit hard to use, and if anyone thinks my app is helpful. Feature requests and feedback are welcome. Thank you! Get UpWord Notes for Free: Tap this link on your iPhone: https://itunes.apple.com/US/app/id778883247?mt=8, or Search “UpWord” in the App Store Benefits: Swipe List: create lists, cross off as done, and highlight as important - with one simple swipe One-Tap Reminders: quickly save a note or task for later Repeating reminders Organize with folders & favorites Save to Evernote Beautiful design themes & fonts for personalization Multi-level undo & redo Opens straight to a new note to capture ideas faster (turn on in "Settings") Full-text search (titles & note contents) Word count Night mode, for typing in the dark Sort notes by recency, alphabetical order, or reverse-alphabetical
  21. However you want to phrase it, I see a need to enhance the “saved searches” of Evernote into something more dynamic that could be used to elegantly re-envision organization within Evernote. I’m thinking of something that is already utilized by anyone familiar with iTunes playlists and Aperture smart albums. You could allow for every notebook to have smart folders or smart bundles. Numerous potential criteria could be utilized as possible filters to dictate what is shown or not shown in relation to that particular folder. Items to consider for criteria: Note Date Range (any notes created between the following times) Note Name Tag(s) Media Attached Images Audio Documents PDF [*]Checklist Present (quickly pull a list of all notes with action item checklists) [*]Links [*]Location (by radius to a given lat/lon marker) [*]Location (by region... example all notes that pertain to a city, state, country, etc.) This could drastically enhance the organization potential for Evernote users with copious notes without having to rely upon constantly setting up search criteria or relying saved searches.
