  1. Basic Outlining

Evernote is good at making numbered lists and sub-lists of numbered lists that are also numbered in the same way. For Example: 1. 2. 3. 1. 2. 4. I don't know why anyone needs that functionality? Couldn't the sub-list use capital letters instead of numbers? This would allow anyone who is trying to make a basic outline to follow a traditional form without a lot of time spent formatting.
  2. Hello, this is my first time in the forums so I'll try to be brief... I have an issue with the numbering format for numbered lists with indented bullets. I had a list of bulleted material with sub bullets that I wanted to change into a numbered list. When I tried to do this however, first some of the tabs and formatting for my existing subullets were removed and realigned with my main bullets. Also, it changed the sub bullets to numbers (which I guess makes sense in theory) when I would have preferred to leave the sub-bullets alone and stay bullets. But my biggest problem of all (that also seems to have no manual work around) is that when you change the list to numbered, if there are any sub-bullets under any of the numbers, the numbers reset to 1 for the next main item on the list after the sub-bullet for the previous number. I cannot figure out how to fix this for the life of me. Plz help.
  3. I have a general to-do list, and a garden to-do list. I would really like to have them in the same note, side by side, so that I can see both. Is there any way to do this with EN?
  4. I like to use bullet lists a lot. Makes it more clear that you're starting a new point. On the other hand, I hate that there's so much ''wasted" space on the left side. In evernote it's about equivalent to 8 or 9 spaces Would be great setting in evernote, that the user can specify how many spaces (?) the list enumeration should be
  5. Other note systems can do the following which I personally find really helpful. Say you have written a list ITEM1 ITEM2 ITEM3 ITEM4 ITEM5 You then highlight one of the entries and then use the keyboard SHIFT + ALT + UP-ARROW or SHIFT + ALT + DOWN-ARROW to move an item up and down the list.
  6. I need to see the tags in the lists. Without this it is impossible to use. You suddenly hid them, and there the information necessary for searching and navigating, the description of the content. Earlier in the lists I could see the content type: file, schema, article, instruction. Now I can not.
  7. Reorder text notes and list notes

I create lists of things I need to do. I prioritize my time by reordering the list and removing items when they're done. I want to be able to reorder the list easily using buttons, hotkeys, or drag and drop. This seems like such an easy feature to add to both the web and Windows versions. Reordering lists as priority changes are crucial to my system. Having to copy out of EN into a text editor (notepad++ for me) just so I can CTRL+SHIFT a row up and down and then having to copy it back so that I can view the changes on my other devices leaves me at risk of losing my changes. I copy out, reorder and forget to copy back. For me, checkboxes don't work. If I'm done with a ToDo, I want it out of my view. CTRL+SHIFT+D should delete the current row in the list. If I'm scanning down through my list and I see items that need to be done before the one at the top of the list, I want to be able to move them to the top. Clicking on that line or highlighting any part of any line and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+UP should move the selected rows up one row, CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+UP should move it up all the way. Alternatively, you could drag and drop them.
  8. I've been using Evernote for years to make outlines. Early on, it was kind of clunky. Strange things would happen when I tried to delete, cut, and paste. In the last couple of years it seemed to get smoother, but now I'm getting weird behavior again. For example, if I'm working with a numbered outline (ordered list) with several levels of indentation and I cut a line, I will frequently (but not always) see a new line with a new number created at the first level of indentation just above where I cut. And sometimes when I cut multiple lines, the numbers of the lines I cut will not disappear. The text will be cut, but not the lines or the numbers. Weird. My question is, did Evernote do something with the code that is causing this to happen? As I said, I don't recall having this problem all the way through 2015 and most of 2016. But just recently it feels like it's getting buggy again.
  9. I use Evernote for academic purposes and I'm often selecting several bits of text to add to the same note via the Mac services "Add to Evernote". At the moment, Mac service Evernote create a new note for each addition. I would like an option that is "Add to existing/selected note" and 'Add to new note"
  10. After a certain 6.x beta update a week or two back - I don't recall which, and I was expecting another update would fix it, but the original update appears to have caused an actual change in the order of the ENML tags for bulleted lists in the content of all? most? of my notes so the lists are all effectively upside down now. D C B A Four Three Two One It's not what I'd classify as serious, though when combined with the usual issues with bullets, which seem to be worse now, I'd definitely tag it with ^Major PITA Apart from the usual issues with bullets, and the issue with numbered lists, I haven't seen a thread addressing this problem specifically. If there is one, then I'll happily delete this and move there instead. EDIT: this comment / sub-thread addresses it insofar as to say if you took the risk of using beta versions then there's nothing that can be done and you're on your own. I'll leave this topic here as a top-level reference to that comment, and the follow-up.
  11. Reordered Lists

Is it possible to have a simple sorting/reordering option for lists? For example, when I create a bulleted list it would be ideal to be able to sort it ascending or descending either numerically or alphabetically. That would mean I can work within Evernote much more rather than switch between Word, Google Docs, and Evernote.
  12. Please find a way to make all text in Moleskine notebooks extractable & importable into other uses/applications (like calendars & To Do Lists). At present, it's supposedly "searchable." However, the search never works for me. This was the whole reason I got the Moleskines & Evernote Premium. As I understand it, it's supposed to only be searchable, and it simply inserts images as a jpg (rather than doing anything with the text.)

  20. Font-Size Glitch

I hate to report yet another glitch... When using lists with multiple levels, Evernote repeatedly resets my font size to 13, no matter what. If I select all (CTRL+A) and change all fonts to 14, then I type in font size 14... until I hit "enter", at which point Evernote strangely reduces the font size to 13. Then I select that 13-size text, change it to 14, and type in 14. When I press enter, I go back to 13 for some reason. Why? And how do I fix this? How do I tell Evernote not to change my font size to 13 for, apparently, no reason?
  21. Hi, I want to create numbered lists with extra information under each item. Please see the attached file for an example of what I want. Can lists like these be created with Evernote for Mac? Thanks!
  22. Why are the locations of the numbered and bulleted list icons in the iOS app reversed to what they are in the Mac app?
  23. I really like the reminders functionality, and I love how we can set our own user orders to the list within the notes panel. But I wish we had more control organising them. For instance - when we select multiple reminders either with the SHIFT or CMD key, can we drag all those selected reminders as a unit within the list to rearrange their order? Right now, you can drag single notes and re-arrange their order. But when you select more than one, the ability to shift their order goes away. Right now I find myself having to drag one reminder at a time to rearrange my list, which can be tedious if you make dozens of reminders and have them loosely arranged within the same notebook. Thanks in advance!
  24. Making task and finding task reminders is kind of difficult. I always lose track of my to do list within a note. It would be nice for Evernote to grab anything with the checkmark and place it in a single note or area with in an app. Those checkmarks can then have a header with a link, note link, back to where the original task came from. This would allow me to make many lists and always have a Central location for all my to do items. Right now I have to resort to iOS reminders or other third-party applications. I would love to make Evernote my one and all for all business and personal items.
  25. (gbarry) i would love to be able to select all/deselect all for the checkboxes in my lists that I reuse over and over (groceries, packing, travelling, camping, and so on) i would also like to be able to toggle off and on the images in a note, maybe even the formatting! So for those that use lots of images in their lists, you toggle off images in notes, and you are left with the same list taking up considerably less room. Toggling back on the images allows better description between work chat, while shopping, printing, etc. *shameless plug i love Evernote and use it everyday! It's always open in my workplace, even though my department uses a different collaboration tool/file manager. It's my digital brain for coordinating events at home, at work and everywhere in between. It is my emergency information notebook when I take my kids anywhere, leaving their health/insurance cards with mom, means I always have the digital copy or image as backup. Who do you think presents the data more, the one who always has access to Evernote, or the one that forgets the cards at home?
