I should be able to open an Evernote note on my iPad and write notes with a stylus directly into an existing note or create a new handwritten note without resorting to Penultimate. Penultimate is an awful app that truly does not even integrate well with the rest of Evernote. Handwriting needs to be seamless. Onenote for iPad recently introduced such a feature and it works but not fluidly enough. Still, its better than what Evernote has for handwriting. I want all my notes together, regardless of what kind they are, and handwriting needs to be fully integrated, not some add on kludge. The first company with smooth, fully integrated handwriting support will blow the other out of the water.
The new update is nice and like the cleaner look but I'm bummed that there as not been one single change in the inking system. Why is it ok that I'm NOT ABLE to edit inking that I create on Windows when I'm using my Note 5? And I'm not able to edit ink notes on Windows that are created on the Note 5? How long do we have to wait for this? Version 7?
So I create an ink note in Android and it can't be edited in Windows. When I create a handwritten note in Windows, Android can only view and not edit it. Am I missing something? Is this for real that Evernote will not allow you to edit the same note on any device? One Note allows edited on Android and in Windows. I don't want to use One Note because I can't stand Microsoft and Windows 10 (worst installation and dangerously unstable updates), One Drive, Groove, and Outlook app have been a joke and a hassle. I really hope that I'm missing something and that Evernote will come out with an update REALLY SOON. Inking is nothing new. We're on the 4th verison of the Surface and 5th version of the Note and Evernote is still behind in this regard. And with Android there is a annoying slight delay with the inking at the start of each word.
I have worked with Tablets and used them for over 10 years.. I enjoyed OneNote and the inking ability from meetings versus the chatter of a keyboard. I'm very surprised that Evernote hasn't removed the middleware of inking natively within Evernote. This is a major gap and causes most users to use PenUltimate, Awesome Note, or any other suite of apps that are out there... While I understand that a mere change in their offering could canibalize the ink software apps.. the feature is very overdue... I used ritepen instead of the windows input panel and it was solid... but MSFT had an edge.. I use Awesome note but Evernote has the edge.. I hope that Evernote will see this opportunity and capitalize on it and include ink in Evernote natively... otherwise I and many others will continue to struggle with managing the middleware solution and just deal with the gap.. Thank you for your support and for including inking on the next update!
