  1. Evernote 7.4 on macOS 10.13.6 ... I've been using Evernote for over 10 years. Something broke with Search in the latest upgrade. I type in a keyword, and Search says "No notes found." But I know there ARE notes with that keyword. I'm attaching a screenshot with an example. I typed "tahini dressing," and at the top it says: Found notes with rosemary tahini dressing, white bean kale salad with tahini dressing, roasted carrot lentil salad with tahini dressing and curry-roasted fennel salad with rosemary tahini dressing but in the note list area, it says "No notes found." Even when I click on one of the "found notes" result, I still get "No notes found."
  2. Does EverNote index text within images, such as JPG and PNG format? It would need to OCR the image, obviously, in order to find the text. I upload a lot of technical diagrams that have been printed to image formats, but which contain textual labels throughout the diagram. Having that automatically full text indexed would be a gigantic feature for me. That would provide an easily-explained selling point for EverNote as well. Anyone who collects technical diagrams on a subject would now have a way to textually search through any term appearing in the diagram. If EverNote does not do this, is there any tool I can buy that would automatically scan images in a folder and create a companion document that has the OCR text from that image? The things I do not like about EverNote OCR so far: 1) I hate the lack of tools to easily see whether a document has been indexed at all. 2) For me anyway, PDF files are frequently just not full text indexing at all. I have opened a trouble ticket and so far no resolution after a week. 3) I want a way to actually inspect and modify the full text index of a PDF, to correct errors and enrich the OCR.
  3. I am new to Evernote and do not understand it very well yet. I have an application that I want to know if any version of Evernote can solve. I have hundreds of test reports created as PDF files, and these exist in a nested tree of folders at a specific folder on my local hard drive. What I want to have happen is for Evernote to *automatically* sync with that folder, so that any time I add a new file or folder to the local folders on my file system, this automatically uploads and is indexed into the Evernote notebook. The idea here is for Evernote to be able to create a full-text index for these files so that multiple people can search easily on any specific word found in any of those PDF files. It would be extremely time consuming and cumbersome if I had to manually sync the local folder and the Evernote notebook. So finding a way to have things just synchronize in the background and automatically is important. It is also important that changes made to the Evernote notebook do not affect the master files. If someone accidentally deleted files in the notebook, those actions should not result in deleting files on my file system. How close can Evernote get to this functionality, and which versions of the product do I need for that?
  4. Hi, I am happily tagging various links to EN. But when I log on to EN account vie chrome on Mac, there is no index of my tags, just a screen of the links/content I can see the clipped links, each showing its tag, but I figure there must be a place where there is an index of the tags themselves? I have a feeling that this is not an issue when logging into EN from a Windows 7 PC so wonder what is the solution on Mac? grateful for any thoughts thanks
  5. I considered trashing Evernote after 3 years premium usage for OCR index getting worse and worse on Evernote Mac (and also I lost for some reason with a recent update my Spotlight Integration) Still I just noticed that in fact Evernote OCR and index work consistently fine on Ipad ! So I might look at "Should I try to stick to Evernote" again for few days because there is some hope there is an OCR working actually fine in Evernote. So yes for some reason Index result of OCR pdf significantly differ on Evernote for Mac (not reliable) vs. Evernote for Ipad (Index is reliable). I have a Evernote notebook called "ScanToMac" where I load all pdf (mostly results of my paper mail that I scan). If I search the word "Facture" in this folder (facture means "invoice" in french) my Ipad brings me (correctly) 100 results that are pdf where the word facture is contained https://www.evernote.com/l/AHYW_hBPmARMI43dMkln2sTd3ZrndlJTrTE My Mac evernote search function brings me only 42 results that is incorrect and missed many pdf that include the word facture that was correctly OCRed / Indexed by Evernote engine and correctly delivered to the Index/Search function on Ipad // incorrectly delivered to Evernote Mac. That 42% ratio is decreasing dramatically lately to less than 30% https://www.evernote.com/l/AHaKL3jcppREGa-q1hCqDd3-AtvrbSmrsMA When I look at the details of which notes are correctly identified by Mac index and which ones are missing vs. Ipad it looks quite random it is like 1 in 3 pdf is indexed correctly/searchable in my Mac vs. in my Ipad but which ones is a bit random. What steps should I take to have my Mac reflect the index of my iPad that seems correct and prevent having my Mac delivering incorrect results ? Is there a way to "rebuild" index on Evernote Mac to make it correct and similar to Evernote Ipad ? Thank you Also please find below more details on what I notice on EvernoteMac when searching word "facture" 1st result is http://glui.me/?i=rs8cin85khp8kj9/2014-11-09_at_13.10.png/ > Says 1 pdf has not been indexed although the word "facture" was correctly detected inside the pdf. This word is found but not highlighted inside the pdf 2nd result is http://glui.me/?i=o0dx4qmizlap2cp/2014-11-09_at_13.15.png/ also says pdf is not indexed but it looks like it was indexed since the word facture is found. Also please note that here, the word is highlighted in the pdf (2 instances) 3rd result http://glui.me/?i=udeafzqgbjp4cm6/2014-11-09_at_13.18.png/ is the 1st result where I got the message"All attachement have been indexed" and I also have the word facture highlighted in the pdf when doing the search On these results 1, 2 , 3 please note that on Ipad these results (sorted the same way) are respectively results 3, 17 and 19 (the ratio of 1 note out of 3 correctly found in EvernoteMac sames as Evernote Ipad is getting worse these last weeks and Evernote Mac now "rarely" sees pdf results that evernote ipad continues to see. [Also on a sidenote does someone know how to get back to spotlight search to Evernote working - I have 5.7.2 Direct non sandboxed evernote and I run OSX 10.8.5 and it was working fine before an update that broke the access from spotlight to evenote pfd OCRed content. Sio I used to be able to find through spotlight pdf loaded in Evernote containing a specific word, not anymore and that is the 2nd deal breaker for me ]
  6. I have a problem, that Evernote for windows does not index my PDF and JPG files, and they are thus not searchable. This is really annoying, as I rely on EN as my archive. The files are indexed on Evernote Web, though. I have been in contact with Evernote Tech Service, however, they have not been able to solve the issue during two weeks of mailing back and forth. Event the newest update bringing improved synchronisation, coming out this weekend, has not helped. So, I now rely on all you bright guys out there, to suggest what could be the cause and even better, the solution. / Thomas
  7. Often I use Note Links to organise my notes. I have a primary note which has multiple Note Links to other notes in various notebooks and/or stacks. Is there a way to create this contents/index-style note automatically, creating a note with Note Links to all the notes within a certain notebook or stack? Thanks! Visually: Notebook: Tasks Note 1: Buy a cat Note 2: Learn to backflip Note 3: Go to Mars Then there's an Index function which creates a note in Tasks called, say, Tasks Index, the contents of which is: Buy a cat Learn to backflip Go to Mars
  8. I'm using my iPhone and iPad to take various pictures and screenshots. I've set up IFTTT to transfer pics to Evernote folders automatically. Taking a picture of a business card would be an example here. I cannot find key words in these photos using Evernote search function. The status of the note in the "info" section states that "no attachments have been indexed". I thought maybe I just needed to give Evernote's servers time to index this files, but it's now been two days. Any thoughts?
  9. Search is one of the most important features in Evernote. We add lots of stuff because we want to be able to find it someday when we need it. Some of us use Evernote so much that we have 10,000+ notes in our account and when search takes quite awhile to return results, I wonder how much of that lag could be reduced by giving Premium users an additional index or separating their index off to another server os the like, to help us find our data faster. If you have 10,00+ notes, do you find search to be lagging? I have certainly felt that way, though I have no concrete way to assess where the latency is coming from. It could be Evernote, it could be the application, the server, or the device we're using. Whatever the case, I'd like to hear thoughts from Evernote and the community in general regarding whether this is a viable or necessary solution. Thanks,Jeff
  10. So everyone I am using iOS and I use to add links on one note to another note all the time for my classes in school. I made an index for each class and it was very useful. I would place a link in the text. For example Test Review 1 was a note that I would create for my test review. On my index I would add a link labeled Test Review 1. With the new release of iOS 7 this function appears to have disappeared. I can still add a link on my Index to Test Review 1 but it is now the entire link, not the words Test Review 1, so now my index is ugly! Any ideas? See the screenshot, you will see hyperlinks added before the latest update and links added since then.
  11. Hello all, new EN user here. I played around with EN for a few days and figured out how to use it for my needs. It took some time. I was a free user and because of my plans I paid for the premium account. So all good there. I'm scanning to a watched folder in hopes of getting the stacks on the desk reduced and I started thinking about the long term use which, after the initial upload, I believe the free account would suffice for my needs. In that case, if I'm scanning in PDF format, which is indexed as a premium user, what happens should I fall back to free? Would I lose the indexed PDF's already indexed by doing this (meaning the indexing is removed, not the note)? Might be a dumb question, but before I scan my files I want to know what I'm in for. If I do lose the index then I suppose PNG or JPG would be better on space. Thanks
  12. Hi, does evernote support to index the contents of ms word doc? i mean when i try to search some keywords inside evernote, i want evernote can search the contents of ms word doc, that will be more helpful. thanks, Emre
  13. Hi, I would like to see "Favorite" or "Star" notes option, I will try to explain why. I have a few notebooks, for example, "Photography", where I put inside lots of info about that topic. When I start to get more notes on that notebook, it's starts to be difficult to find what I want... So I would like to have a "start" note, that would be/remain (like a "sticky" post on the forum) at top of every other note, where I could create some kind of index to all the subjects I have inside that notebook. On this index I would have direct links to the correct notes. This would be awesome, and I think it's still not possible to do, but correct me if I'm wrong! Congrats on your amazing products! Cheers, Luis Ramos
