  1. Hello there, I am a French newby to Evernote. The reason I have pruchased the Evernote Premium version was to implement a all-in-one GTD service using The Secret Weapon and After The book tag centric Approaches. Mostly, I wanted to take advantage of the powerful complex search features offerd by evernote. After having exchanged a few emails with the support team, it seems that the search feature does not allow for searching in multiple notebooks. For instance, the syntax notebook:"NB1" notebook:"NB2" tag:"t1" tag:"t2" returns notes contained ONLY in notebook NB1 and bearing tags t1 AND t2 What if you want to determine the exact scope of your search in terms of notebooks ? Woul'nt it be great th have the ability to use boolean operators such as AND, OR, XOR to implement more more refined searches, both in terms of notebooks and tags ? Equally, It seems that the search syntax requires the use of quotes " to work properly, although this is not well documented. Finally, is the search feature case sensitive or insensitive ? Thanks for all your comments and feedback. Phil.
  2. Evernote is very limited to organization, this leaves us wanting many things. Should be able to add new blocks within existing blocks, this would help to create new topics within the same theme, without having to create other blocks atoa just to complement something ... For example: I create a block called "Matter "and within it I want to create blocks of all the subjects that I study, and within each subject I want to create several topics. A practical example: I create a block called Matter, inside it I create a Mathematical Matter, and inside the Mathematics Block I want to create other blocks addressing the theme; Algebra, Geometry, Functions. And for each block I can add new blocks, and new notes. That would give a HUGE help. I need this a lot, because I deal with various calculations, and among other things. Please! *Sorry my english, I'm not American.
  3. You should add a button for existing users to log in below the signup button. I have to click the sign in link on top even though Chrome has auto-populated the login and password area. Its not a big deal but just annoying that I'm prompted to sign up every time I visit the site
  4. Greetings Evernote. o I am a long time user. o I am also a very happy and loyal user. o I have one major request that for me is a showstopper. o Please bring back the option to have a different colored background. I want you to bring back the dark and the green colored background. o It helped my eyes greatly, during hours of work. As a disabled combat veteran with TBI- it seems to have alleviated and quite possibly prevented migraine headaches. It was a unique, refreshing, and enjoyable environment to work in. o Finally, I contend it was is (the green/dark screen) is an integral component of your unique and highly recognizable brand. By removing the green/dark screen options- you have undermined your unique brand, a brand unlike any other. Now there is NOTHING to differentiate EverNote from competitors when looking at the screen. o I STRONGLY BELIEVE that removing the green background option was a significant mistake. Case in point. 1) Coca Cola. Terminated original Coke. Suffered huge losses due to unhappy customers leaving. Acknowledged they took a wrong strategic turn, and spent millions to bring back the original Coke back- labeled "Coke Classic." o The Coca Cola Company was fortunate in that they were able to eventually turn around and recover from their costly mistake. Many others never recover. o SOMETIME'S THE "GOOD IDEA FAIRY" NEEDS TO BE GAGGED AND RESTRAINED AND KEPT OUT OF BOARD MEETINGS! o Let me help you take this a step farther. Bring back the green and dark screens- and deploy for users an option to use a selection of colors or a way to have customized colors. This will be a draw for customers. o The bottom line: BRING BACK THE GREEN AND DARK SCREENS. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. o Thank-you and have a nice day. Very Respectfully, DAVID M. HARRELL, SR. Captain, US Army (Retired)(Honors) CHIEF, The Templemont Company, Ltd.
  5. The ability to add longer comments to a specific portion of the PDF, in a way that doesn't block the view of the main text, would make Evernote a crucial part of the workflow for many Academics. While the highlighting tool in PDF annotation is wonderful, I'd like to be able to add anchored comments - longish text annotations anchored at specific points on the PDF using Evernote. So far, it looks like I can add text, but I have two choices: if it's hanging off the edge of the PDF it disappears, and if it's not hanging off the edge it covers the existing text of the PDF, making it worse than useless. The stamp tool only allows for very short little labels. Here's an example of what I mean. I think the addition of this capability would dramatically improve the PDF annotation tool, and help solidify Evernote's place in the world of Academic note-taking.
  6. I use Evernote every day and I love it. I have however noticed that there seems to be a bug, where the note list on the left keeps flashing whilst the note is open on the iPad! No response from tech support regarding this. My colleagues have the same problem on their iPad. More importantly, I think it is time that Evernote added these features to the iPad version: Ability to link a file to a note eg Word, PPt etc Ability to insert or paste an image into the current note Ability to change the font, colour and size (this is a really basic thing that is missing!!) Ability to create notebooks on the iOS version and to colour code notebooks Please please please implement these additions - they are basic things that should have been there from the start! I would be happy to pay for the app if these features were not missing!
  7. This ar some suggestions that arose from daily use. If anyone has more and whant me to put them on the list, just reply this thread. Evernote in general: Ability to place a link to another note. For example you have one note that is a list and some items are explained as other notes Windows program: Ability to show notes as a post it on the desktop (gadget maybe?) Android app: Ability to create a widget that is a note (not a link, not the current widget that shows several; I mean a SINGLE note as a widget) iOS app (don't have iOS device so this will be empty 'till somebody drop a note):
  8. Hello all, I heard speaking evernote since months and months but truely began to take a look at it few months ago. I downloaded and installed the windows client recently. Before going further I would like to precise I'm blind working with a screen reader (Jaws or Window-eyes) on windows XP/vista. When I first tried the windows evernote client few weeks ago I found it quite accessible (even if it was not far from perfect it was reasonably accessible). The problem is that I just downloaded the latest beta of the software and then I was totally disapointed to see a total lack of accessibility there... I would like to know if a bit of work towards this problem is planned before the release or not ... And in the coming months I probably switch from windows to mac. Could you tell me if the mac client has been developped with Universal Accessibility in mind following Apple accessibility guideline ? and if not is it planned for a future version ? I ask all this question because I'm currently a free evernote user but plan nextly to adopt the premium option ... and if you would plan to focus on accessibility for your products it would be very nice for me and all blinds whom I recommanded your solution...
  9. I have been an Evernote user for more than a year and although I find the service very useful, there are some things that might make things even better. If I would need to summarize the issues in 1 word - I would say "synchronization". There is lack of synchronization between the features in the iPad app and does of the PC version. The main drawbacks of each one are features existing in the other: Evernote 5 for iPad There is a strange bug which causes the tag list to be 'blacked' when editing new tags in a note. you can see your tags, but you need to scroll to the top of the screen to do so. Try editing a tag (with the ! icon) and see what I mean. for some reason the search option only search text within a message (or in its title) doesn't search tags! This seemed as a real bug, since the aim of tags is to help identify items. This is different behavior than the PC app - since it will search tags there.Web clipper for iPad - when ? Evernote for PC (4.5..) Allowing right to left writing - this is extremely important for Hebrew/Arabic users, especially when it is enabled in the iPad version. Highlighting paragraphs - when researching information, it is important to be able to highlight text sections that include important information. This option appear in the iPad app but doesn't exists in the PC version. Itayo
