  1. I know it's there. I want to be able to see the source code and edit it. Not going crazy on wild amounts of tags or CSS. Really, what I want is to be able to edit the tables in clips or the notes I create. Simplify Format seems to take the tables out. Remove formatting seems to strip out all the HTML tags. And image wrap. I want to be able to control image wrap. I'm SURE there are others who really, really want to have a "view source" window option, too.
  2. Good day to every one. It's been six years now since I use Evernote as my main knowledge database. I have many notes connected with internal Evernote links, on different subjects, so many of my notes are part of a nebulous wiki. However, I am a bit worried because all those notes are locked inside Evernote interface, they depend on Evernote app for navigating among them. I know I can make an export of them, but the resulting collection of notes is not navigable besides a general index, which is impractical: internal links don't work between html version of the notes, they only drive back to the original evernote format notes. So I wonder if is there a way to exporting a working wiki / navigable set of notes out of evernote, in html format or any other format that would be readable out of Evernote...
  3. I have used "search and replace" many times for searching html and replacing some of the texts and tags etc. But now anything I copy into the search bar is replaced with coded signs for " and > and other signs. What happened? Can I change a setting to get it back? For example I want to search for this in my text note: <script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> But when I paste it in the search field it says: &lt;script async src=&quot;//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js&quot; charset=&quot;utf-8&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt; so of course the search does not work! :-/ UPDATE: PC/Windows user. Used to work on the same platform, but since last update this happened.
  4. I'm trying to paste text from BookCision (which is an html based "extraction" of my Kindle book notes). Running into several problems: Formatting varies from Web to Desktop Evernote version. When pasting into Evernote Web (in Chrome) vs. Evernote Desktop (Windows 10, up to date) the formatting is slight different in a really frustrating way: The Location field is left aligned (should be right aligned). This makes it very difficult to scan the text. see attached screenshot. In the Desktop version, the alignment of the Location is correct but I get a double || indicator See "double..." screenshot. I'm pretty sure it was NOT doing this a few weeks ago.
  5. I'd like for Evernote to be better at supporting code. In other apps like Slack, putting text `in between these quotes` will automatically format the text to be like code. I'd also LOVE for there to be a custom keyboard shortcut that will allow highlighted text to be formatted like code, even if it's just to change the font face.

  7. Hi everyone, When I share a text to Evernote, the note appears between HTML tags. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE en-note SYSTEM "http://xml.evernote.com/pub/enml2.dtd"><en-note style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><div>Por entre as vaias e a cruel zombaria da multid&#227;o, Jesus foi conduzido ao G&#243;lgota. Thanks.
  8. Bom dia. Agradeço quem puder me ajudar.
  9. Hi everyone, Just wondering if there was a way to add html content into a note, i don't want to be able to see the html itself just the content it makes. Thanks
  10. Why not to accept EPUB as a exchange format? Even more, why not use EPUB as the real format for all system? It is time to assume that Evernote is not an notetaking-App, is a online-white-paper-App. We are who decide if we are writing a short or long text, temporal or permanent, personal or public and son on. In both cases, we will need formatting tools to create this text, this writing. For many, Evernote is the updated version of windows notepad-app for this 21st century, but we need more than that app. Doing this you will have the solution for many questions: - Title, headings, subheadings: great to write more than two lines of text! - Style format (colours, fonts): avoiding untidy notes - Tablet of content/index: navigability trough large and dense notes - Export/import option as EPUB: rather than ENEX format or HTML files - Storage option: any place as one file, that is EPUB - Online minimalist EPUB editor: simply text without see any html code - No printers, no paper: users just need and want digital content So finally, Evernote will be a huge online place where you can start with a minimum note of one line. Then, you can go far adding more text and contents, creating a report, a diary. Even, completing a novel or a thesis by parts or doing all in one place. Then, if someone need further publishing software, there are many applications (Indesing, QuarkPress, etc). All of them ready to create printings and more developed solutions for experts. Nowadays, for real digital life, nobody needs a old fashion formats like DOC or PDF, which are prepared to be "printed" in a paper or in a screen. For many of us, with a Evernote is more than enough. Google knows it. They have GoogleDocs that in fact is an editor of super-html, that is, EPUB. There you can download it in EPUB format (however you cannot upload EPUB to there...). Even Evernote already knows this, because in fact, ENEX format is a kind of compressed html, that is again, a kind of EPUB format.
  11. Hello, I would like to suggest an option to create unique image names for HTML export [ notebook Export as multiple Web Pages (.html) ] If I export an entire notebook to import into an ebook (using Sigil for example) the images that are exported are not unique - which is not supported by epub (for example) eBook format. The eBooks have a single images directory, so there can be only one image named Image.png which leads to incorrect overwritten image names. The last exported image is referenced by all the other eBook "Chapters" = not good. In general it would be better to have some kind of symantic meaning instead of just Image.png, Image [1].png, Image [2].png etc. - either a unique hash or based on the note title? Not to mention spaces in the image file names I love Evernote, but this is a real show-stopper for eBook development and a real pain to rename the many images and edit the HTML files to match. Thank you for your consideration, John Steele
  12. Hi there! We are using a html icon on our websites to clip website to evernote. Evernote icon open the following url: https://www.evernote.com/clip.action?url=${url}&t=${title} Unfortunately evernote response with not expressive error, for example: Request to https://www.evernote.com/clip.action?url=https://www.wertesysteme.de&t=title returns following error: Clipping error Sorry, we were unable to capture Clip:https://www.wertesysteme.de at https://www.wertesysteme.de. Some web sites are constructed in a way that prevents us from clipping their content. Can we somehow get the exact error? Are there any debug tools? Thank you very much in advance
  13. When I try to clip from a html page in my hard disk (not from the www) by Evernote Firefox clipper, it does not clip the article - it only asks to clip URL. Is this a bug - or is there any specific reason for this?
  14. Hello. First time posting. So I have been teaching myself web design & development, and using Evernote to keep notes on various languages and frameworks. These notes have, of course, code snippets, mostly that I copy in or type out by hand (for example, as I watch a video on Code School). These are interspersed with my explanations and comments. So I am typing my note in the default font, Helvetica Neue, and then going back through and changing the code snippets to Courier New. I know I can go and put my snippets into some code formatter web app and paste them back in, but for my purposes all I really want is for snippets to be a different font. And I want to avoid the hassle of selecting the snippet and going through the font dropdown every time. I was wondering if there was a way to do this. I have been fiddling with AppleScript, trying to make a Service that I could then bind to a keyboard shortcut, but Evernote doesn't seem to allow access to the actual content of notes from AppleScript. Right now I'm trying to save the note HTML content to a variable and then add a font tag to lines that start with a certain character, but I was just introduced to AppleScript today so I don't really know what I'm doing. Here's the lame attempt I have so far: property noteHtml : "" property addOn : "<br><br><hr><br><br>" tell application "Evernote" activate set note1 to selection set noteHtml to (HTML content of note1) set addString to "<br>" if {noteHtml starts with "<p>"} then set editHtml to ? set noteHtml to editHtml end if end tell Can anyone offer any tips or a solution? Thanks.
  15. Issues with Restore of Evernote HTML Backup (Export) Some users are exporting their notes as HTML as their primary Evernote backup. I have found the EN HTML export has severe limitations and is NOT well suited for restoring your Note(s). Evernote offers two formats for export: ENEX -- ✅ recommended for backup and restore HTML -- ⚠️ not suitable for restore The ENEX format works very well, and stores/retains most of your Note metadata (see below for details), EXCEPT for Notebook. For that reason, many, including me, recommend exporting Notes for each Notebook to a separate ENEX file, with a file name the same or similar to the Notebook name. Restoring a Note from a EN HTML Export (based on EN Mac 6.9.2) (this is for Evernote 6.9.2 (454158) on macOS 10.11.4) There is NOT an import option to import HTML files So you have to drag/drop each HTML file to the Evernote icon in your dock The new Note created from this drag/drop, has these issues/problems/missing data: ⚠️ NO metadata is imported. This is a huge loss. ⚠️ NO attachments are imported. This is a huge loss. NO EN checkboxes are imported. The original Note formatting is NOT restored. At a minimum, extra blank lines are inserted ⚠️ Evernote Note Metadata NOT Imported from HTML Export[1] Tag(s) Created Date Updated Date Source URL Location Reminder Author Evernote Note Metadata NOT Stored in neither HTML nor ENEX Export Notebook GUID (used to identify, and link to the Note) Sharing data (NOTE: Prior versions of EN Mac did NOT retain the other metadata. But with Ver 6.9.2, all is retained and imported, except for the 3 items above) Footnotes: Curiously enough, most of the Note Metadata listed is stored in the HTML Export. It is just not used by the drag/drop import process. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ References: Backing up and restoring Evernote data (Reference article) How to back up (export) and restore (import) notes -- Evernote Knowledge Base How to back up and restore your data in Evernote for Windows EN Mac ENEX Export/Import Test Two major backup strategies that can be used with Evernote
  16. Hello I wanted to raise this issue a while back, but this time it's been brought to me by one of my clients, so I'm passing it forward to you guys. I'd love to write my blog posts in EN (Windows), but the way EN formats the HTML below the surface of what we see is unacceptable. This is just a simple note. This is a new line. And this is a new paragraph. That's it. It should be that simple. Oh, and just one more paragraph at the end. Just because I like it this way. And this. And this. A simple note like this, is pasted to Wordpress using div's for every single line: <div>This is just a simple note.</div> <div>This is a new line.</div> <div></div> <div>And this is a new paragraph. That's it. It should be that simple.</div> <div></div> <div>Oh, and just one more paragraph at the end.</div> <div>Just because I like it this way.</div> <div>And this.</div> <div>And this.</div> <div></div> This note should be pasted to Wordpress editor like this: <p>This is just a simple note.<br/> This is a new line.</p> <p>And this is a new paragraph. That's it. It should be that simple.</p> <p>Oh, and just one more paragraph at the end.<br/> Just because I like it this way.<br/> And this.<br/> And this.</p> According to web standards, divs should not hold the contents itself, but are used just for the positioning elements of the website. That's why they should be avoided for any other reason: https://www.w3.org/TR/html5/grouping-content.html#the-div-element Is there a tech team leader who could take a look at this issue, as our customer base is more and more tech-savvy, and it's getting harder to sell them something that doesn't comply with world-class standards. Best, Ludwik
  18. Does Evernote have any plans to do as follows in some near and not far far away distant future? Allow to write sections in HTML or Markdown, and have the viewer interpret/render the section - look at Confluence's wiki product, it has the beauty to have plugins that allow to render whenever their own editor falls short, so people can format their text in more suitable ways. Proper code blocks with color coding according to type of context - simply look at how many only web editors support for multiple language code format: json, javascript, bash, perl, ruby, C++, C#, java, python, Go... - it is not just a code block it allows to format the the code in the proper color code (examples http://collabedit.com/ or https://jsfiddle.net/). 3rd party plugins that allow evernote to expand its capabilities - this is specially useful so Evernote's features can grow without always putting demands on the dev team. Anyone can tell me which of these are already available on the product? Thank you .
  19. Hi everyone, I’m experimenting with exporting web pages with the Safari Web Clipper. Are HTML exports supposed to show you the web page exactly as it appears in Evernote because I’m only getting blank pages? Any help is appreciated! Process (1) Clipped website with the Full Page or Article option. (2) Right-clicked Export note as HTML. (3) Double-click the HTML file. (4) Blank page is shown. Software Used (1) OS 10.9.1 Mavericks (2) Safari 7.0.1 (3) Evernote Web Clipper 6.0.8.1
  20. I'm beginning to use Evernote Clipper to save my bookmarks, but was looking for a way to import my existing bookmarks from Chrome, without having to clip every. single. one. I don't really know how to code, so Applescript, etc. was out for me. But I figured out this work around. It requires signign up for a few things, but once you're done, you're done! and the import is quick. Note: This is a crude import system. You may not get pictures imported with the links, or tags automatically added (other then from what you set in IFTTT). It's quick and dirty, but gets the job done. Also, this will probably work with services other than Pocket, that's just the one I already an account with. In your browser, export your bookmarks into an HTML file. Login or create account at getpocket.com (we'll come back to this, but you need a Pocket account setup before the next step) Login or create account at IFTTT.com Create new recipe: IF...Pocket...Any New Item... THEN...Evernote...Create New Link Note... (Fill in settings as you want. I add the tag ".Bookmark" for easy sorting later) Go to: http://getpocket.com/import/delicious Under "2. Import your bookmarks", Upload your HTML file from Step 1 Click "Import" Wait for the magical elves in the cloud to do their work. It will take longer for the more bookmarks you have, but is still way less than doing this all manually. Now all your old bookmarks are in the same place as your new ones, as you add with Clipper. You can choose to go back through and organize with notebooks and tags as you like. If you're not familiar with IFTTT, I recommend it for other actions, like adding Facebook posts and photos to your Evernote.
  21. Evernote is a wonderful platform, but I have a concern and I am sure I am not alone. I want to use Evernote for managing all sorts of information related to work projects, but I want to have the ability to export them to a desktop folder to use elsewhere if I want to. As far as I can tell, Evernote supports exports in PDF and HTML, but this is not very useful to me. I would like to be able to export to .doc or .txt so I can use my data outside of Evernote if I ever choose to. Right now it seems that content is basically trapped in Evernote's ecosystem forever. Please tell me I am wrong.
  22. Hi all, I just started having a look at the evernote developer guide, but I am struggling to understand if and how it is possible to send the text stored in an HTML5 input to evernote through OAuth. Is it possible in pure javascript or do I need a backend script? Did someone of you already implemented it? All the best, Christian
  23. Why is it that when I graB an html file and put it in PHPStorm I get this code added <style id="style-1-cropbar-clipper">/* Copyright 2014 Evernote Corporation. All rights reserved. */ .en-markup-crop-options { top: 18px !important; left: 50% !important; margin-left: -100px !important; width: 200px !important; border: 2px rgba(255,255,255,.38) solid !important; border-radius: 4px !important; } .en-markup-crop-options div div:first-of-type { margin-left: 0px !important; } </style> how do I stop this? I have removed evernote from my computer but it is still doing it.
  24. I wanted to append html with applescript with some inline css: <div style=\"text-align:center;\"> <hr style=\"float:left;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;width:40%;\"> TEXT <hr style=\"float:right;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;width:40%;\"> </div> My note looks like this though: <div style="text-align:center;"> <hr style="float:left;"/> TEXT <hr style="float:right;"/> </div> Are some of these tags not allowed?
  25. I wanted to create my own note template with HTML. I started to fiddle with a content.enml file i found in the database. Seems pretty straightforward html + css so i started editing the file but after saving there are no changes at all. I found that on the other hand, changes in note.xhtml are reflected in the note but then they are not transfered to the content.enml file. Should i create a template using note.xhtml and then use it somehow as a template? This article doesn't seem to mention what to do – https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/enml.php
