  1. Evernote urgently needs a way to clear recent search history. I see that people have been asking for this for years, and yet it's still not an option. Where is it even stored? I can't find it in any file, or in the registry. I tried uninstalling Evernote to clear it, and my recent searches came right back after I reinstalled. While trying to find out if this is currently possible, I came across one person who accidentally entered a password in his search history, and another who entered her SSN in the search box to find a PDF, where it is now stuck for anyone to find. Evernote has a serious security problem if its users can't control their own sensitive data.
  2. Hey guys - Just a quick question about the note 'history' on evernote premium. How far back does my note history go? Could I potentially append a note everyday for several years and have Evernote keep an entire list of every iteration of that note I had ever done? Thanks for your time! James
  3. It's nice you can see the old versions of the notes, but it would be even better if you could see the differences, even if they were just in text. It would be nice if I could specify a tool to use to display the differences. You'd export the two versions into, say, HTML, and start the program with the paths to the two temporary files.
  4. Hello to everyone, I would like to stress the need of UNDO BOTTOM while working in EverNote. It happened to me many time I accidentally delete something (table, part of text) and there is no feature to go one step back, like in Word, and you loose all the data in 1 second. An other option how to solve this problem will be ACCESSIBLE HISTORY for every user and not only for Business one. I am a student and even I have paid the EverNote Plus membership (30 euros) I don't have access to my history! I am not able to pay 144 euros per yer for Business membership to get this feature. Thank you very much for considering my request, Miroslav Homola Czech Republic
  5. I am a premium user and heavily reply on evernote to manage my ideas and activities. Sometimes I have large files, the mouse keep showing waiting while I edit and greatly slow down my productivity. Although I have thousands files in evernote, the most frequent files are just a bunch. I would like to suggest to be able to configure sync on: 1. Frequency to Sync while editing. (could be much longer, like 5 or 10 minutes). To avoid lost of editing, using history on local to recover the last editing. Without frequently sync with server, my editing would not be interrupted all the time. 2. Sync whenever no activity for configured interval, or exit evernote, or put the computer into sleep/shutdown/standby I also found a bug on Sync on the evernote 6.13 version, the shortcuts that I add on Mac could not show up on Windows, while windows newly added shortcut can be seen on Mac.
  6. I just accidentally replaced a large portion of text with a random image. In panic, I ran to my computer, wishing to copy the note in question to the clipboard before it syncs. I didn't make it, it immediately synced while I was opening the note. Now for the game-changer: there's no way to revert the changes. On the Mac app, I can select undo but it does nothing (can't undo a sync I guess). On the iPhone, I just found out about a "shake to undo" feature (WTF, how am I supposed to know this!), but it does nothing in this case. The edit is permanent. Note history is a premium feature, so no help there. This finally made me decide on abandoning Evernote. I've been annoyed by the clunky interface and general slowness for a long time, but if something so simple as reverting latest changes requires a monthly fee, I'm out. I'm going back to Apple's own note app, which, even though limited in its features, at least is a safe place to store important information. At least give the option to revert to the last version in the note history for free, for goodness sakes. Leave the full history as a premium option. As it is, you're just keeping people's personal information hostage.
  7. http://discussion.evernote.com/topic/30886-encryption-and-note-history/ The first question that I wanted to ask was "how to ensure the history does not contain the plaintext of the item that I encrypt at a later stage". Seems like the solution was to delete the note and create a new one. Fair enough, since there is no fool-proof algorithm for Evernote to know which part of the old note that Evernote should encrypt. Therefore: Enhancement request: Add ability to clear history of notes (a one "clear all" button would suffice). Why? Re-creating the note is a pain . I need to set the "Created date" again (I want to recall later when the note was created), and it is very hard (or almost impossible) to put back in the geo-location data. This should be simple to implement right? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hi, I accidentally overwrote a note with some information I really need to get back. I have a free account and thus i don't have access to Notes History. If I upgrade now, does anyone know if I will get access to Notes History of notes created and updated before becoming a Premium subscriber, or will Notes History only begin to accumulate after becoming Premium? Really need to get this back, any other help to doing so will also be greatly appreciated...
  9. Hey guys! I've got a question about the premium product. Currently I use evernote to keep track of what I did at work the previous day, & things I need to do so that I can read it out during daily meetings. I usually read off of my phone. Somehow the other day I managed to delete all of the note content except the top page worth. No idea how I did this, but I did, & closed the app out on my phone, and now it's gone. Would upgrading to the premium edition give me the history for the note so I can restore it, or would history only start being tracked at the point I signed up for the premium edition? Thanks guys
  10. I recently noticed that I lost a substantial section of notes that I had written a couple weeks ago. My only assumption is that this is due to a syncing issue although I am at a loss as to how this could have possibly happened. In short, I desperately want to recover the notes. I am not a Premium subscriber at present, but if I upgrade to Premium will the history feature give me access to all of my past history or is this simply not tracked (i.e. history only begins being tracked from that point forward).
  11. Hi, I lost a lot of text in a note due to sync problems. If I upgrade to Premium now, will this work to see the note history of that note? Does it work retroactive, or will Evernote only keep history of my note(s) from that moment on...? Hope someone can help... Thanks!
  12. Hi, I am in need of a previous version of Evernote for Windows.. current version has broken tables. Does Evernote supply older versions on their website somewhere? I have version 5.8.13.8152 still stored on my hard drive, but the horizontal navigation bars seem to be missing in this version Also, is there a version history somewhere for each release? This could be really helpful for troubleshooting, and for pinpointing desired versions.
  13. My understanding from reading the forums is that the Windows create/modified timestamp picks up the system time. However, I travel frequently across timezones. Now that I'm looking back on my notes, I can't tell whether they picked up the local timezone when they were created, or if they are in my current timezone or other. Are these hard-coded (and if so, can you add a timezone to the display) or can they be stored in UTC format so that it will update to reflect to the current system local timezone (the way Outlook and my timecard logging app work)? Thanks! -LL EDIT: Never mind - it looks like there was just a lag the first time I tried it just now. It does appear to be adjusting the time to the current system timezone, as expected. So I answered my own question. Thanks anyways!
  14. As a long time user of this lovely product, I am dismayed that I may have to quit using it! PLEASE HELP! Here's the problem. I created a note called "GTM" and worked on it for a few hours (possibly a couple of days). Now when I go to my notebook titled "Misc", I see multiple notes titled "GTM". It looks like Evernote is showing me the entire version history of my notes and each version is being treated as a separate note itself! Not only is this confusing and annoying, it is downright dangerous as I start working on an older copy which could fragment my work across many different notes. I use online free version of Evernote and recently downloaded iOS app. Has anybody else seen this behavior?
  15. HELP! I just can not find a note in my Evernote That note is offen maintained and update by me once a week or once a month,it's very important for me, but now is't gone. my other note is still ok, also I'd make some TimeMachine files in my Disk.(I use Mac Time Capslue). I tried to search in my Evernote Trash and every file in my current note and there history version.(for this I've upgrade to a premiun account) -------- I have no other way to find back that note, so I come to think if I can use my backup file in my time machine, to cover the old file back to my new mac OS?
  16. Hi. This post just to suggest a feature that could be very useful for many, I guess. I know that the history of the synced notes is available once a premium user. But I was thinking more of a "one-shot" thing. Just the possibility to download the previous version of a note (the note from the last sync). I surely know that features are used to make the premium version attractive and more popular, but think about the little ones, great fans of the app anyway. Thanks for the support and for the great app you have there. Using it every single day. Have a great day all! Simon.
  17. I want just see one of my notes history. How I can do that without Upgrade my account? becouse I havent any Creadit card or PayPol & I seriously need my data from that note.
  18. Hi, I have a question: how does EN deal with notes that have encrypted section when doing the History (versioning). If a text was un-encrypted at one point in the history will it be available through accessing the Note History? i.e. if someone with bad intentions comes to my note with an encrypted password can he just go to the Version History and if he's lucky find the unencrypted first verion of that note? thx :DrSnap
  19. Hi, Can anyone help me to find how I can compare two versions of the same note after a sync? I always get the message that someone changed the note, but there is no further information. But I have to know that… Thanks, Frank
  20. Earlier this week I was editing a good deal of important text (list of maintenance steps in a project) in a note. After each important set of changes I ran Sync. At one point I noticed a few lines text were suddenly missing. (This is an unrelated bug that I have occasionally experienced with the Windows EverNote client - I did not delete or overwrite this text). Regardless of how this text was removed, I wanted to review previous versions to recover the missing text. The Note History, ironically, provided me almost no real history. Looking at this important note, I saw the most recent version and the previous version was from 4 days before. For this note, almost all days had one backup; a very few days had two backups, tops. None of my recent sync'd versions were present. Where did all the sync'd versions go? They are in the log but not accessible in the history. Why bother providing sync/history functionality if a user can't get to those sync'd versions? I lost important text that I cannot easily recreate. I lost confidence that Evernote is actually saving my work (it certainly was losing my work because of that other bug). I lost hours in recreating the work and then lost a day, waiting for Evernote support to get back to me with the news that they couldn't get my text back. (My client lost confidence in me as the work I was supposed to deliver was 24 hours late as a result of this fiasco). I now will probably will lose many more hours moving over to Google Docs, which actually saves your revisions. I know that every person values different functionality differently, but if Evernote isn't consistently saving and storing the content you are working on, what's the point of all of these plug-ins, Moleskin partnerships, etc? The most important reason I'm paying for Premium is for History to store my actual content; if that doesn't work I have to move elsewhere. Can anyone tell me if Evernote plans on fixing it's note history/version functionality to show the actual sync'd versions and not a version we have no control over? -Dan
  21. Good afternoon Evernote team. I really need to communicate to you certain illogical, possibly buggy behaviour which I found hugely annoying. Firstly, I use note hyperlinks intensively in my research. Like other users, I try to construct wiki-style repository of my knowledge. The client does very little to facilitate this approach- which is very disappointing, but excusable. However, my typical workflow is as follows: (Please note the specific mouse clicks and keyboard input) 1. While editing a note, realise it needs a hyperlink to related note. 2. Click on search field and type a query, searching for related note. 3. Once desired note appears in results, right click on list entry and choose Copy Note Link My goal now is to go back to the first note, to paste the link. Using history to do so should be straightforward. However, during dynamic search, every top result which has appeared WHILE TYPING has entered the history. Often it is the same thought entering history multiple times and clogging history list! The first note is thus burried uder 5-10 notes which I never explicitly clicked on, or edited. It gets worse. I then try to use history list by long-clicking back button. Even if I still find and click first thought's history entry (skipping all search-induced entries) Evernote does not send me the the first thought! It sends me to first thought from search results. This is not an expected behaviour. It gets worse. If I mispell a word while searching and results' list is empty- it deletes the whole history, meaning I need to do yet another search just to get back to where I started. Please, I urge you to fix this behaviour. Search results should NOT be automatically entering note history. There is no typical use scenario when this behaviour would be in any way helpful. Thank you for consideration.
  22. When using History in EN for Mac 3.3 all the history timestamps shown are not in the users local timezone. The timezone is not shown, but I can calculate that it will be GMT-7. Please show all timestamps in the correct local timezone and use the local date/time format. Regards, Carsten
  23. Hi there. I recently upgraded to Premium Evernote. I've seen on the Evernote tumblr that there is a button on the top right of a note called 'Note History', but it does not appear in mine. Can someone fill me in on how to enable this? Thanks!
