  1. I found today one of my notes had been edited with a bunch of emojis, what looks like swear words and drawn lines. When I opened the note a dialog said (something like) 'user locked from editing this note' It looks like a hackbot doing weird stuff. The names Stephen and Mary appear in it. I double checked and this note is not set to be shared! The youtube link is mine, as well as the first few lines
  2. As an Evernote user who does sometimes store sensitive information in Evernote (by encrypting specific text), I would like a response from Evernote regarding this. A high profile investor in the cryptocurrency space was recently hacked ($2M USD worth). He mentioned that he did store his private keys in Evernote - but - that this information was encrypted. Based on his story, he claims that somehow someone with access to his email account was somehow able to reset his Evernote password (based on my understanding) and somehow gain access to his encrypted notes too: " I thought I was safe storing my private keys on Evernote because I encrypted them but clearly that didn’t help. I did have 2FA on my Gmail with the authenticator app but that didn’t help because my recovery email address was my college email and there is no 2FA on that. Once the hackers had access to my Gmail, they basically had access to everything" http://ianbalina.com/ian-balina-hacked-2-million-ama-live-stream-w-notes-april-24th-2018/ What I'm not clear on - is even if someone resets your Evernote password and accesses your notes, this shouldn't give them access to any encrypted information, because that is encrypted separately and as far as I know, even Evernote should not have the ability to even know your encryption password. Am I correct, or does Evernote's systems store your encrypted password somehow? I think this is important for everyone to know. If the above person's story is inaccurate then it would be good for Evernote to confirm this, as otherwise, Evernote security looks quite bad here if something like this could really happen.

  4. This post is intended as a basic guide for getting Evernote running under WINE in Linux. If people want to share tips etc, maybe we can build it into something quite useful. Evernote (mostly) works fine for me under WINE and has the last few times I've tried, so I thought I'd share my setup, and if anyone has any further information to add that would be great. *WINE can be a sensitive beast so maybe a list of known working combinations of "WINE version + Evernote version" may help some people? **NOT intended as a "please make a Linux version" thread, there's plenty of those. What doesn't work for me: (I'm not a heavy Evernote user so probably missing a few things) -New Audio Note (might be fixable haven't tried) -New Webcam Note (might be fixable haven't tried) I'm currently using: Linux Distribution: Elementary OS 0.3 -Freya beta (Ubuntu 14.04) WINE version: 1.7.25 Evernote version: 5.6.4.4632 Not sure if the below WINE settings make a difference, don't have time to test maybe someone can confirm? WINE settings: -32bit prefix set because using a 64bit machine -set to Windows 7 in winecfg -running gdiplus riched20 and msxml3 as native libraries in winecfg (msxml3 installed via winetricks) -have corefonts package installed via winetricks (someone mentioned installing the Tahoma font in winetricks and using a font-smoothing hack but I haven't had any issues with fonts) Installing WINE 1.7: Here's how to install the latest version of WINE and winetricks using Ubuntu based distros: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install wine1.7 winetricks Screenshot of Evernote running on WINE 1.7: ***On a side note, I remember that for quite a while Google were packaging a very usable combo of WINE and Picassa for Windows into an installable deb/rpm/etc for Linux because they didn't want to create a native Linux version for whatever reasons.
  5. Has anyone had a random note in their book that they have no idea where it came from? I ended up clicking on a link within the note which routed me to a landing page for a weight loss supplement. The following link is where I was redirected to - probably best not to click through: http://diet.com-yc21.net/fyda/inadsyda/ See attached images. Any ideas?

  7. Hey, i hope someone knows more about this than i do. My account password has been set to lprwhitehead@gmail.com... which isnt my address. The username is what it should be, and the app signs in correctly, but i cant do much from the app and the Mac app doesnt accept my password. This is mental!
  8. Hope some one fix this. Seriously, you just need to open the App twice and no password or username is required to see and sync your notes. http://www.chrisid.com/blog/2012/04/evernote-login-without-password-flaw-hack-on-mac-osx/
