  1. Currently on 7.02 on MacOS. When in snippet view, the active note's sidebar snippet is lightly shaded in gray. OK, that's nice. But it keeps blinking! As in, when you're working in the note, the snippet shading keeps going off (turning to white) for a second every few seconds. So it's alternating between white background (like all notes) and shaded background. This is really distracting and annoying! Anyone else in here seeing that? Where's the quality control for pete's sake!
  2. I'm finally at the point where I can't take it anymore, and am seriously considering leaving Evernote because of (what I realize is) a trivial matter... Why in the ever-lovin' heck do you require me to jump through so many damn hoops just to log in??? Follow along: I'm at my laptop, I want to jot down some ideas, so point my web browser to "evernote.com" That page loads - Lots of pictures, and other good info - most of it trying to get me to upgrade from my free service (I get it - you want to make money). As a user for the site/service you'd expect I could just log-in from the front page. Wrong! I now need to click "Log in". The Log In page loads... Thankfully, my user name is there, so I don't have to type that. But, there's no where to put my password. OK... So, I click "Continue". The page drops down, and now, I can put in my password. My browser is set up to remember this, so it's already in the field. NOW I can log in!!! I click "Sign In". The page finally loads, and I can click "+" to start a new note. Let's count the clicks it takes from idea to adding a note: Clicking in my browser's address bar Clicking on "Log In" (Sometimes) clicking in the "Enter email address or username" field Clicking "Continue" (Sometimes) clicking in the "Password" field Clicking the "Submit" button Clicking the "+ (New Note)" button This is a GUI ergonomic nightmare for such a simple task. I hope it can be fixed. I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets driven bonkers by this. Clearly, there's got to be a better way to streamline this... The easiest being letting me put in my username and password at the evernote.com home page, it'd be great if they're "remembered" there (at my option)... Kind of like how just about every other log-in page on the internet works. Better yet... When I decide I want to type out an email, and I go to my gmail page, I just type in gmail.com in the address bar, I'm "remembered", and it goes straight to my inbox... I click "compose" and BAM!!!! I'm typing the email!! Would be great if Evernote made it just as easy to start a new note. Any chance it can get fixed?
  3. I opened my evernote today (ver 6.4.2.3788) and I realized that the old-fashioned panel containing all the notebooks and stacks was not there. It has been replaced with a fancy "contextual-menu" (see picture). It's nice, but it should be an option. Personally, it dramatically reduces my productivity at work. Why? Too many click-n-scroll operations. Just consider this example: you are constantly working on two or three stacks of notes. You don't need any "search", simply you keep on jumping from each other all the day long. You have to explore them, sometimes you don't exactly remember if the note you were working at was in stack A or in stack B or C. Before with 3 mouse clicks at wrost I could easily found the right stack: click on A. Is it the right one? Nope. Click on B. Is it it the right one? Nope. Click on C. Is it the right one? Yeah Now - Click on the the "notebook icon". Scroll down to the proper notebook, click on A. Is it the right one? Nope. Click on the the "notebook icon" again . Scroll down to the proper notebook again click on B. Is it the right one? Nope. Click on the the "notebook icon" again . Scroll down to the proper notebook, again click on C. Is it the right one? Yeah. But it was hard! Please, give us back the fixed notebook panel, leaving the context-menu as an option. Compactness is as good as mouse-saving ;-)
  4. I've recently started using Evernote again, I use to hate it in the past because it was so heavy and cumbersome, but the iPad app was so impressive it got me back on, but now that I've moved all my notes to it and have several notebooks I use, I'm shocked to find that Evernote does not have any COLOR options. How is it that there's no option to pick a color for each notebook, and then whenever you look at a note there is a hint to that color to help me quickly recognize which notebook it belongs to. It will make Evernote so much more appealing and it's something that almost every other organization app has. Where can we add this to the suggestions box?
  5. See the video here https://vid.me/wxo Using windows client, v5.4.1.3962 If you have a long tag, the little downward arrow thing to add more tags goes missing so you can't add tags until you expand your screen wide enough to get it back. Please make the add tags arrows/button/hotspot always visible.
  6. Hi Evernote, I just want to post a suggestion. I've been using Evernote for a year now and the more I use it, the more I realize it proves my doubts about it's functionality wrong. I have two issues, though, with Evernote in its current state. A). the GUI/Design is getting more and more outdated as other competing apps entering the market have more modern GUI's and design. They may not hold up to Evernote's functionality and operational integrity, which should be most important, but I must admit, that I am still very much influenced by the design of an app, and in some instances, have been known to stick with a sub par performing app soley because of it's cool design in the hopes that its functionality will ultimately catch up. That said, I have no doubts about the brilliance of Evernote, but, please, if you are reading this, upgrade your GUI; you can start by changing the outdated icons in the sidebar; likewise, the "notebook" icons are, IMHO, not even worth having. I never use that view mainly because the iconography is very outdated. To put it in perspective, the mobile app is very brilliantly designed. Match that brilliance with a complete design upgrade to the desktop app. . When it comes to "clipping" web articles/pages, Evernote really excels at this. I've tried other apps like Stache and Pocket that just don't hold up to the convenience of using Evernote's web clipper, and I'll even say that the way Evernote archives your clippings to your notebook, particularly the "simplified article' view is great. However, I wish that while viewing web clippings in a notebook you could simply press the space bar and get a functioning "preview" of the article that would include functionality to play a youtube video - if the page was in fact of a youtube video - and so on and so forth. The app Stache has this ability, but, again, it doesn't compare to the convenience and style of Evernote. I also wish Evernote web clipper gave you the added option to basically extract all the text from a web page and lay out on a white canvas that is actually saved as a text document that can be read offline. Currently there is no way that I know of to read saved articles without an internet connection.
  7. I'm enjoying the new Android beta, but in the Android client in general there are a few things that take more clicks/taps than necessary. The notebook selector doesn't need an "OK" button - a note can only be in one notebook - clicking on the notebook should dismiss the list. When creating a new note, choosing the notebook and tags are such common operations that they shouldn't be in a menu - there is currently plenty of room between the "done" check button and the add attachment "+" button to place a notebook and tag button. Even on my phone, certainly on my tablet.Hope that makes sense! Cheers, Mark
  8. If a user tags a note with enough tags, the little auto-suggest list (the list with suggestions for tags as soon as you start typing the initial letter of a new tag) will be partially outside the visible screen because it continues to appear as a left-justified list to the right. It needs a mechanism to switch to the left as a right-justified list when needed. Screenshots are linked as usual. As you can see, this becomes especially problematic once you start working around the lack of a rating system by using tags instead of stars (§, §§, §§§, §§§§) http://dl.dropbox.co..._entirelist.png http://dl.dropbox.co...hot_visible.png
  9. This topic relates to my other post: http://discussion.ev...-not-permanent/ One of the reasons I find Evernote's lack of ability to remember my sidebar resizing so frustrating is that it is so incredibly difficult to actually resize the sidebar. The active area that allows you to resize it seems to be way smaller than the mouse pointer leads you to believe. Thus, the user inadvertently applies tags to notes or just achieves nothing at all. I have linked to a screencast of me trying to resize the sidebar. I was not intentionally slow, it actually took me almost a minute to resize the sidebar. It might be that I am the only experiencing this issue, but I tend not to have this problem in other applications. http://dl.dropbox.co.../screencast.mov
  10. Bibdesk has a nice feature where it highlights each tag that is applied to the currently selected note in a light grey in the lefthand column (actually selecting the tag would highlight in blue). This is pretty convenient to see related tags. Maybe that could be implemented in Evernote as well.
