  1. REQUEST – It would be amazing to have a feature where an image can be selected, and when you right-click (ie, the same way you rotate it, etc.) there could also be an option to override the "largest smallest-dimension" algorithm and set that image as the note's thumbnail. A little background –– One thing I use EN for very heavily is as an artist database for my job. I really like having both a photo of the artist and an example of their artwork at the top of their card. However, when I'm scrolling through snippet or card view, it would be really helpful to have the image of their artwork always be the one to show up. This usually happens but there are a few times where the photo of the artist is used instead. I've read up on the algorithm that chooses the image with the "largest smallest-dimension" (PS, see what I did there with the hyphen? Way clearer that way.) and I am actually OCD enough to try to amend the file sizes to have the algorithm pick the right one. However, even this doesn't seem to work – it's probably me because I guess an algorithm can't lie, but even when I resize the images, it's still not choosing the right one. So my question is – why would that be happening? Could it be that once EN's algorithm chooses an image, it always chooses that filename even when the size changes? But what would be SO MUCH EASIER is my *request* – could there be an override option to the largest smallest-dimension algorithm (which I agree does work at least half of the time for me) to choose a thumbnail? I'm not talking some fancy thing in the settings where you tell EN how to pick your thumbnails – that sounds like way more work than it's worth. I just imagine, like I've said above, having the image you want to be the thumbnail highlighted/selected, then right click (in the same way that you can rotate an image, etc.) and have something like "set as note thumbnail." Please?? Thank you!
  2. Evernote Wizards. Please, give us a dark theme. My eyes are bleeding with how bright your default theme is. (both web & desktop) No suprise, it is mostly white. A great choice for clean design, but ultimately a fail for intensive use. Please, give us a dark theme. Best Regards, Your Paying Customer
  3. I love Evernote, but it's preventing me from putting in sensitive content. For example, I can't keep a personal journal notebook, because other people (i.e. girlfriend, family members, etc.) could one day be looking at those notes, especially since they know that I use Evernote often for many purposes. Evernote already has the ability to encrypt single notes. This is useful for things like storing passwords or other temporary sensitive content. But it's not practical to encrypt many notes one by one. I wish I could password-protect a whole notebook. This way, I can do a lot more with Evernote. If I can encrypt single notes, then why can't Evernote just allow me to encrypt entire notebooks? If reason behind this is because Evernote thinks one could lose a lot of data if a notebook password is forgotten, then perhaps Evernote can help recover the passwords through email. In the meantime, I'm stuck with using other apps (i.e. Pages, Day One, etc) to password-protect my content. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. hi it would be quite nice to support right to left writing direction for languages such as Hebrew, Arabic and Persian. it is really hard to write and read when writing in left to right in those languages. thanks.
  5. Requesting the option to flag notes as read only My workaround is to convert the note to pdf edited; There’s also a contentClass field that I can update using a script on my Mac
  6. Hi all, I like to use my notepads like websites and usually have one note that acts like the homepage of a website which is used to navigate to other notes in the notebook. It would be nice if I could have this "homepage" note pinned permanently to the top of the notebook browser. Cheers
  7. Hmm I counter this problem for a while. It seems to me that I can only change the color of the font rather than the highlight when I call out the "show colors" option under format. Does it mean there is only one color available for highlight at the moment?
  8. I've already read the multitude of posts on this topic. I've been an Evernote user since the beginning and I've always thought it was a great product. As soon as I thought of a feature, the Evernote folks have already been cooking it up. Recently I ran up against the notebook limit, I contacted customer support and they gave my the "you should use tags instead" line. I am a Developer myself, and while I do not purport to know how Evernote is built or the whoas of maintaining a system with so many users, I can't imagine any reason why arbitrarily setting a limit of 250 notebooks, improves system performance or usability. It seems that a decision was made that people should use tags rather than notebooks without any regard for how current users prefer to work. In particular, the fact that I choose to be a premium user and and still limited to 250 notebooks seems absurd. At least choose a number that very few people would run up against like 1000, or make the free limit 100 and the premium limit 1000, that way if the limit really bothers someone it will incentivize them to pay for your service.
  9. If you could add this feature, it would make my life complete!!!! So it would be a reminder/alarm at a regular period ie. every Monday at 10am, the last day of each month, every day at midday etc. etc.
  10. We detected suspicious activity on some users' accounts and have recently emailed them. This is related to reports of users receiving failed email notifications that they never sent, indicating that someone has learned the password to their account. The Evernote service wasn’t compromised, but we believe someone other than the account owner has learned the password to these accounts. Just to be safe, we’ve reset these user’s passwords. If you have not received this email notification from us and you have not seen any failed email notifications that you did not send, then you are likely not impacted. If you would like to take proactive action to further secure your Evernote account, take these steps below: Please visit https://www.evernote.com/ForgotPassword.action to set a new one. We recommend that you choose a strong password that you use only for Evernote. We also suggest that you change your password on any other websites where you may have used the same password. You can find more tips for keeping your account secure on our Customer Security page: https://evernote.com/security/tips/. To learn how to identify if an email that has been sent from Evernote is authentic, please visit this Help and Learning page: https://help.evernote.com/hc/articles/115004380587.
  11. Where can I find a list of all the shortcuts for text substitution available on the web client? These are the ones I know about: [] creates a check box [x] creates a checked check box * creates a bulleted list --- [enter] creates a horizontal rule !!!!! creates a highlighted "!" Which ones am I missing?
  12. I have been an EN user for a number of years and this is the first time I have received the message below. I definitely have not come close to any maximum emails as I think this is my third today...is it down for anyone else? We couldn’t deliver your message The emailed note was received, but an internal error occured while processing it. Please try sending the note again later.

    native linux client

I have just gotten Ubuntu 13.04 on my computer. Is there an Evernote for Linux or should I just use Wine?
  14. Hi all, I just discovered on going to use Evernote on my phone that it was asking me to deactivate a device in order to use it. This led to the discovery that 18 hours ago my account was accessed by an Iphone with an IP address in Egypt. I'm in the UK and using android on a Sony phone. I've used Evernote for years with no problems and am now freaking out that I need to change my password for everything, and also that my whole life is on there and some of its pretty personal or a security risk. Never worried about it before and now I don't know where to start. So this is both a post just to vent and say ARGH! Why don't they send an email to say someone else has logged into your device? Or have more security when it's from another country? And secondly, has anyone else had this happen? Do you think it is an individual and that they might have downloaded and be going through all my notes as we speak? Or is it some kind of bot that doesn't actually care to read this stuff? I don't know where to start - feel I need to look through all 647 notes to see where my security may have been compromised. GAH! I've emailed the support people but is there anything they can do? Damn the internet. Bring back notebooks.
  15. I would love the ability to add multiple reminders per note. For instance, if I'm in a meeting, and have 5 action items, I'd love to be able to assign 5 separate reminders to each of my check-box action items. Currently, I use a color coding system to know which action items I still have to complete.

    Storing passwords

Greetings! Are there plans to create a service for storing passwords or integrating it into evernote? Of course, you can store passwords in notes right now, but I would like to integrate with browsers and more features. Soft, what is now for these purposes is absolutely terrible, the hope is only for you. ps Sorry for bad english pss I'm not sure if this is the right partition, but I did not find a more suitable one
  17. Perhaps I missed something, but I thought I read something that Evernote could convert my handwriting to text. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

    Premium User

I have a Premium account that I've just renewed . I was a premium customer but let it lapse for a couple of months after it ran out. I have just renewed and what I would like to know is will the renewal be on my basic account? The reason I ask is it said PREMIUM on my other premium accounts but not on this one, is it a change does anyone know? also where do I find please the email address I use for forwarding to my notes. TIA
  19. I want to turn of auto-renewal payment but I don't want to lose the time I have paid for. This is not very good for the customer. Evernote has made it very difficult for customers to do this simple step without feeling like they lose their account.
  20. Hi All, We often see posts and inquiries from users encountering issues with payment, billing, or with their subscriptions. In order to receive assistance with these types of issues you must open a support ticket as we cannot assist you with payment, billing, or subscription issues here in the discussion forums. The reasons for this are to avoid the dissemination of user’s private billing information within the forums, and because making changes to a user’s billing/subscription requires access to administrative tools that are only available to our commerce support team. To open a support ticket, go here. (You may be prompted to login to your Evernote Account) From the 'What can we help you with?’ dropdown menu, select the ‘Billing and Payments’ category. From there, select the category that most closely matches the type of billing/subscription issue you’re encountering. Once you have selected the topic, you should see the option to submit a support ticket at the bottom of the page. The button looks like this: Once you have submitted the ticket, one of our support agents will reach out to you to further assist you with the issue you’re encountering. We appreciate your consideration, and thank you for using Evernote!
  21. Hi all, As we work to continue to improve the Evernote Discussion Forums, I wanted to provide an update and context to how user's membership levels are handled. See the following information below regarding member levels, and how users are promoted to the next level. Thanks! Member Level Criteria: Our community’s member levels are determined by commenting activity—when you reach a certain level, you are automatically placed into a new group with a new member title. In the future, member titles will also have badges associated with them. Guest - New User/Not logged in Member - 0-9 posts; Must have first post approved by Admin Member + - 10-99 posts Noteworthy -100+ posts Guru - 300+ posts; 50+ Reputation Points; Admin Approval Super Guru - 500+; 75+ Reputation Points; Admin Approval Member Level Access/Perks: Guest (New User/0 Posts) - User is not signed in, and may only be browsing. They cannot create or reply to posts, cannot report content, and they will only have ‘view’ access. Once user signs in with their account and posts, they will be automatically upgraded to ‘Member’ status. Member (0-9 posts)- Once a user signs in, their first attempted post must be verified by an Admin. Once their first post is approved, they will be able to post content that will be immediately viewable to the forum community. Additionally, ‘Member' cannot start more than 5 conversation in a day, cannot message more than 5 recipients at one time, and are limited to 10 reactions per day. After successfully posting more than 9 posts, they will be automatically upgraded to 'Member +' status. Member + (10-99 posts) - Have all permissions available to 'Member'. Additionally, they do not have conversation or messaging limitations, can use signatures for their posts, and have an unlimited number of reactions per day. After posting more than 50 posts successfully, they will be automatically upgraded to ‘Noteworthy’ status. Noteworthy (100+ posts) - Have all permissions available to 'Member +’. Additionally, Noteworthy users can create polls. Guru - (300+ posts; 50+ Reputation Points; Admin Approval) - Have all permissions available to ‘Noteworthy’. Additionally, Guru’s have limited moderator power that enable them tohide/move topics and ideas. Super Guru (500+ posts; 75+ Reputation Points; Admin Approval)- Have all permissions and moderator powers available to ‘Guru’. They also have the additional moderator power of being able to flag spammers. Super Guru will have access to the ‘Super Guru Club’. The club receives first access to upcoming changes/plans from Evernote, acts as a sounding board for user feedback, and receives specially dedicated attention from Evernote’s staff. Reporting and Moderation: Our Gurus (300+ posts; 50+ Reputation Points; Admin Approval) will be allowed to help organize and tend the community’s grounds. When members reach this level they gain the ability to hide spam content as well as the ability to move content around in the forums. The “remove spam” ability should only be used to remove spam content, and the “move” ability should only be used to move content to its correct forum or sub forum. Our Super Gurus (500+ posts; 75+ Reputation Points; Admin Approval) have the additional power to flag an individual user as a spammer. This will immediately suspend the spammer’s account in the forum, and prevent from posting in the future. Any member, no matter the level, can use the reporting tool to notify an Evernote employee to review particular content in the forums. There is no requirement or expectation that these members perform these functions, however, their status allows them to do so if they wish. *Update: Due to a technical limitation, these rules will not retroactively affect your account to upgrade your member level. If your member level is not accurate and needs to be adjusted, please reach out to Shane D. directly. Thank you!*
  22. I've upgraded to evernote plus. My current (monthly) cycle is 11 May to 11 June 2018. I want to stop Evernote from billing me next month onwards (the next cycle starting 11 June), if I select to downgrade to 'basic' right now (11 May) will I keep my subscription til 11 June? I just don't want to be charged a second time, and I want to keep this month's subscription that I have already paid for.
  23. Hi All, We've been receiving some inquiries about how to acquire a Developer Token. (https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/dev_tokens.php) Previously, this was an automated process. Moving forward, developers will need to make a manual request in order to obtain a Developer Token. You can reach out to myself or our Forum Support Staff via direct message, or you can make a request via Support Ticket. Once enabled, you should be able to obtain a token here. Hopefully this information provides some clarification on this process, and let me know if you have any questions!
  24. How can I change my login e-mail address? I try logging in with my current email address, but Evernote keeps saying that my new e-mail has already been used, can't change. What can I do?
