    tiff image files

Recent versions of the Evernote Mac client no longer automatically display tiff image files that are attached to notes. Instead of displaying the image, there is the icon for an attached file with a name like "Pasted Graphic 14.tiff". The web client does not have this problem.

    Digital File Organization

I'm sure there's probably a host of answers to my questions, but please, I really can't seem to figure out where to find them. The question I want to ask is not the verbiage used by the community. Just point me in the right direction and I'll look. Here's my situation: Serious downsizing of my life and home office . . . from 3000 sq foot house to 300 sq foot 5th wheel. Business has been in operation since the 80's and has LOTS of file cabinets (currently in storage . . . not very accessable!) I bought a Scansnap and it uses Evernote (although not the Evernote edition). Bought external hard drive that has links to Googledrive (although it came with free Dropbox usage). Have been in a filing funk for the last 3 years since husband died although business still in operation. l need to get organized. I think I'm ready, but WHAT NOW? My question is that I have a meticulous filing system (normally . . . when I actually use it) and I don't know how to convert this to Evernote. Plus, does Evernote upload to Googledrive? Or do the files have to stay in Evernote. I would use Dropbox also, but what would be the point if I'm already using Evernote and Googledrive? (I like Googledrive's ability to work across so many applications, seamlessly with other things I do.) I don't see "Files" Just "Notes" and "Notebooks". I like to file 'like things' together such as hanging files for "Suppliers" and "Permits" and "Governing Authorities" "Employee Payroll Files" "Employee Information Files" "Payroll Liabilities". Inside these hanging files are manila files, inside those files are documents. When it comes to customers, however, the chain may include more in-depth filing. For example, a person may own a property management and/or restoration company and we also do work for their personal home. They may manage properties for a corporation, so there would be a hierarchy of: Individual Person>Business They Own>Corporation They Manage for>Apartment or Office Complex Location>Specific Job Address. I can organize things in Googledrive manually, but I was very excited that Evernote might actually read receipts and actually know where to file them once I had taught it and automatically tag documents with identity markers for when I'm looking for something. But, how does Evernote work with Googledrive??? Does it need to be filed with Evernote? Or can that program organize and Googledrive is the file holding tank? . . . along with the 5 terabyte external hard drive, of course. Let me apologize for my verbose way of expressing myself, but any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Dear all, I´ve been using azz Card File for too many years. I am migrating to Evernote, however, I have thousands of notes in my azz card file. Does any one out there who would happen to know how I can export may notes from Azz card file to Evernote? Would really appreciate this support. Thank you.
  4. I have several recordings of lectures and meeting that I would like to either remove the useless banter, or a question period, or a late start to a meeting. Is there any way at present to edit or crop an Evernote audio note?
  5. Hi, I miss function to full search any attached files by name or file extension. How can I find file "this is my file.svg" if I remember word "my" from file name and this file is SVG? This syntax is working: *file.svg *my* *.svg But this syntax is not working: *my*.svg

    List of attached files

Hi, I attach lots of files in my notes like pdf with hundreds of pages and its not practical to have to scroll down all the pages to reach the next file. I think it would be more practical if there were a possibility to see a list of all the attached files. Or simply the possibility to collapse/develop the documents. Same idea for the photos, it would be more practical if there were the posibility to see miniatures of them. Thanks a lot if you can do something for that.
  7. Dear friends, I couldn't find the answer that's why I am taking it to the forums. I have uploaded a large PDF files on one of my notes and while using on windows is perfectly fine, I cannot access the note on android even though I have successfully sync. The error that I get is: "We are unable to load the note on this device. Please use Evernote on your computer to access it." Does anyone have a solution?
  8. Greetings everyone, I'm seriously in need of a cloud backup storage and as Premium Evernote user, I was planning to use it as a main hub for keeping and organizing my general files. I'm not willing to pay for another service (I have a 100gb Drive plan and that's my limit), so I wanted to work with I already have. Here's what I thought, so far: - Mirror my HD using Notebooks and Notes, maybe even Stacks, in EN. Every note would be a directory with lots of files (documents - texts, PDFs, scans -, mainly). - Use a Note as index with links (I'm still thinking if I do it or not, maybe it could be the most difficult part, keeping it updated). - Use Flickr to store photos. - Put everything that doesn't fit in Google Drive (videos, etc). I wondered if you have thought of different systems or even have hints on how to set this up. I never read anything about it and wanted to hear opinions and suggestions, if possible. Thank you.
  9. Hi all, first of all "HI" I am the new guy 2nd About myself: I am an Evernote user for approx. 1 year and have recently moved to business for my startup. As hard as I try loving EN , being a long-lived IT-Specialist (and yes I do in an ambiguous way) I cannot work with it without constantly having small nitty annoying issues. This said my recent issue is: I am using EN for mac on Mac with Yosemite. Attaching PAGES and NUMBERS documents to EN Notes works which is why I want them there and not in the terrible icloud. However one half of the iworks attachements i upload are displayed by EN preview the others are shown as zipped thus cannot be worked on. Does anyone know when they display and when they don´t and how to stabilize this behavior reliably? Further more: I seem to be unable to remove an attachment of a .pages or .numbers document once it is in the note. What am I doing wrong? Is it really impossible? Also just noted that dragging and dropping from an icloud-drive folder to EN is impossible. Why? Thanks for help all of you AndiB
  10. My work routine relies heavily on storing successive versions of files I'm working on in the same note, and right now I can only do this on my Mac, not on my iPhone or iPad. When will we be able to attach files (other than photos) to an existing note in Evernote for iOS ? I can't imagine being alone in sorely needing this feature. Every major—and not so major—competitor to Evernote allows this. iOS now makes it trivially easy to implement. It would be a fantastic improvement that would require minimal effort. Please?
  11. When using the Google Drive integration for Mac OSX it would make way more sense for the attachment to link to the local copy of the drive file using OSX's file URL scheme. In that case, if you're offline then the Google Drive links would still function. Also, it's just more OSX-like. And there's the advantage that the file will open with the user's preferred app. Some files may even be unreadable by Google Drive. Please consider adding this as a feature. I really appreciate what you guys are doing with the Google Drive integration, but I think it could be better and right now it's not quite as awesome as it could be. ^^
  12. Hi there, i´ve been using Evernote for a couple of days now. I have one local Notebook, its filled with notes with attached pdfs. All of them get saved in the evernote folder. Which is good. The problem is, everytime i open a pdf out of Evernote in my pdf-application (Foxit Reader) the pdf gets duplicated and saved as a new pdf with changing version number: examplepdf[1].pdf ... examplepdf[2].pdf..examplepdf[3].pdf Same thing happens if i open it with Adobe Reader (out of Evernote) Is there a way to turn this off? I like to keep those pdfs local as some of them are very large, duplicate files are just unnecessery cheers and thanks for any help
  13. Hi! I think it will be great to have a mechanism to manipulate with file system. For example, instead of saving file and then adding to evernote, saving directly to evernote note from any application by system saving dialog window. And opening file directly from application by system opening file dialog. Like, for example, with iPhoto in mac. You can't access photos in file system, only from application iPhoto but there is special item "iPhoto" where you can access photos from iPhoto. This is the reason why I'm switching to use google drive instead of evernote. But I love evernote and I want to use it.
  14. Like lots of others here, I'm busily converting to a paperless state from a folder-driven hard drive (or several) and a small paper mountain. One of the inefficiencies of my former folder lifestyle was that sometimes files got duplicated - either because I wanted to file something in two or more places, or I just forgot where I had the first copy and created another. It's not a major hazard - I just ran a duplicate checker against a library folder tree of over a thousand files and came up with 43 duplicates - but it does happen. If I upload a duplicate file to Evernote it's not going to be a major issue either - sooner or later a search will find it/ them and I'll kill one or the other copy. For efficiency and elegance (and bandwidth and upload limit) though, I wondered how non-trivial it would be for Evernote to have an option to run a content check against each file as it is submitted and flag duplicates with a "you uploaded this identical file before" error?
  15. I'm using Mac os 10.6.8, I have Evernote 5. If I drag and drop a file from my desktop into a local (non-synced) notebook, can I delete the original file? Does Evernote make a copy of it in a local database or just build a link to the original file? Thanks for your help.
  16. When you attach an existing file to EN, any changes to that file are no longer reflected in the version in EN. If you open the file from within EN, any changes are made to it's version, not the original file. You end with two copies of the file on your computer, one in it's original location and one in the Attachments folder. Not good. Is there a way to have EN link the original file in its original location and not make it's own copy? I understand that moving the file would kill the link, but having two separate copies is potentially much more confusing and dangerous. Thanks, Brad
  17. Hello, Prior to 5.0.4 I was able to have a file in my clipboard (as if I was going to duplicate the file in another directory) but paste the file into my Evernote note multiple times. This feature seems to have disappeared? I just wanted to check I'm not the only one. OS 10.8.2 and Evernote 5.0.4. Thanks! Gordon
