  1. I am using Win10 (64-bit) PC. Since I updated Evernote to v.6.14.5.7671, whenever I start my laptop it shows a Fatal Error message. (screenshots of error message and related log attached.) Uninstall and clean re-install does not solve the problem. No practical problems with using the app. Just annoying messages. Could you tell what the problem is? / how to fix?
  2. I have Evernote installed at my Windows PC and get the following error window when I start Evernote: Fatal error Evernote.exe v.5.8.13.8152 encountered a problem and needs to close I have tried to remove and reinstall Evernote without solving the issue (the error appears after login). I have no problems with the same user account on my iPad and iPhone. I will appreciate any help to solve the issue. Kind regards, Jacob
  3. My data is safe, right? This week I switched laptops, going from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (both 64 bit). Everything went smoothly EXCEPT for what should have been the easiest step: recreating my Evernote database on the new machine. I have been an Evernote member since Jan 2009 (premium since Sep 2011) and have basically moved everything important into Evernote. So, not being able to get a clean copy of my full database of ...16,861 notes (?GB) (web client) or is it 16,849 notes / 20.5 GB (iMac client v5.5.1) ?or is it 16,843 notes / 20.7 GB (Win 7 laptop EN v5.7.1.5586) ??or is it 16,845 notes / 17.4 GB (Win 8 laptop EN v5.0.3.164 - see below) ???... is quite troubling!!! BTW, trash is empty and there are no local or unsynchronized folders that I am aware of. Same application error on two different laptops I had been running the latest version of Evernote_5.7.1.5586 on my old laptop with no obvious problems. On Thursday, I downloaded and installed this same version on the new laptop and started syncing. Within a few minutes I received the dreaded "Fatal Error" dialog box. I took the obvious steps to troubleshoot: uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, deleted old files, etc., but kept getting the error. I even tried to recreate the database on my old laptop and received the same error (now I'm worried)! Evernote support was not helpful My next troubleshooting step was to contact support, so I opened "Ticket# 816749 - Fatal Error in Evernote 5.7.1.5586 - can't create new local database". I even went through the effort of including a redacted copy (removed note name stings) of the 4000 line log file for tech support to analyze. About 24 hours later (on Friday) I received a generic "Let's try removing the current database that's on your desktop and start over" response email. Had anyone thought about the actual problem? Frustrated, I quickly replied, pointing out that a log file was available for analysis. Now another 24 hours has passed and it is Saturday, meaning that the earliest I'll hear back from support is on Monday because, of course, "Evernote is closed on Weekends and Holidays." Problem Resolved / Work Around Fortunately, I just happened to have had a few hours free to troubleshoot on my own. I found this threadhttps://discussion.evernote.com/topic/67394-support-response-times/ where a user with a similar problem had reverted to a previous version to get around the error. Fortunately I had saved off a copy Evernote_5.0.3.1614 from Nov 2013 or so and gave it a shot. That worked! I am now running Evernote_5.0.3.1614 on Window 8 and it has successfully replicated my database. No longer panicking, but still concerned I feel better now that I seemingly have a fresh local copy of my data. However, I remain concern about how vulnerable my data may be in a service like this. With two-factor authentication, etc, I am not too worried about security. Rather, now that I am fully invested in the platform, I am troubled by the thought that my data could somehow become corrupted or lost over time - either through application or user error. I suppose should start keeping periodic backups of my data files (and fingers crossed) for some downside protection!
  4. This morning Evernote was working fine on Win 7 64bit. Then I closed the app, reopened it and got the error in the attached file. When I click either cancel or send the error to Evernote, the app closes. I uninstalled 5.5.3, went to evernote.com, and redownloaded the current version of the app. Exact same behavior. One thing is that when I uninstalled 5.5.3, Outlook was open. I got a warning and selected the option to automatically close outlook. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled 5.5.3 as well as 5.6.x, with restarts after each part of the procedure. Still the same result. It works fine on my Mac and my iPhone. Just won't reinstall on my Win 7 machine. As noted, Evernote was working just fine on the Win7 machine this morning. Nothing unusual happened. I was just using it, got the error, and then the app refused to launch. I really need help here because EVERYTHING is in Evernote!
  5. I checked around the forums and couldn't find anyone talking about this issue so I thought I'd start one to see if anyone else was having a problem with EN 5.0.3.1614 for Windows 7. Since I installed it I've been frequently getting a crash bug which causes it to display a window labeled "Fatal Error". Followed by the message: "Evernote.exe v.5.0.3.1614 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." No other information is presented other than an OK button. (Attatched an image with the window.) It started out fairly mild where I could just restart the program and it would go away for a while until I switched machines to the other Windows machine I run EN on (starting it on a different machine seemed to crash the other). Recently however it's gotten to the point where I can't even start the program without it immediately crashing. I've tried reinstalling several times to no avail and I've submitted a support ticket which I'm currently waiting for a response on. Unfortunately at this point I can't even provide a log of what's going on since it crashes before I can even do anything. I've never had any problems with Evernote before this and it seems to be running fine on my iPad. Has anyone else had this problem or alternately does anyone know where I can download a previous version of EN? I basically can't use the current version at all and I wasn't able to find any links to older, working versions on the website.
  6. I am on Windows 7 and when I launch Evernote I get a Fatal error with no error code. I have sent the details multiple times to Evernote, but not gotten a response. I have unistalled Evernote and reinstalled the current version three times and am still getting this error message. Since there is no error code, I'm not sure how much more I can report
  7. Good afternoon everyone! I've been running into a problem with Evernote since last night. I don't know what's going on but I keep getting Fatal Errors while Evernote. For example, I was customizing my Wacom tablet's settings and I had my customization list written down in Evernote, for no apparent reason, I got a fatal error message and the program shut itself down. I thought that was a one time event and thought nothing of it. Then, 20 minutes ago I have Evernote open to write down some shipping information that I have to mail out and the same thing happens! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program thinking that's all it needed, but now the program can hardly open without crashing. Is there any fix or update for this?
  8. What do I do now? I've been spoiled by the native client and really prefer to do most of my work with it.
