  1. HI, I have evernote on a laptop running Windows 7. I have had the programme for about 4 weeks. Yesterday morning i did a lot of work in the programme creating a large number of notes in a notebook that is not synced as I am on a free version and had used up my monthly limit about a week into using the programme therefore I had roughly 1200 notes in local notebooks. I am not a savvy windows user. When I started Evernote in the afternoon i had to sign in (not normal) and all my notes were gone. The programme started to sync whereas before I had it set not to sync. I stopped the sync but I am dismayed to find out that all my local notes and notebooks have disappeared and even after allowing a sync to finish i discover that much of what had previously been synced in that first week has also disappeared. Yes I realise i should have had a backup done however I am still feeling my way around a windows system being much more savvy with mac and had yet to work out what and how to do a backup. Does anybody know if there is any way of retrieving the lost notes and notebooks? I am hoping to get a premium account but that will not happen until tomorrow regards, Jane
  2. Dear Evernote Team, I have found that a particular note is not saving. This is quite disconcerting as I save important information here. I am using a evernote on my mac. When I write in this note and change to a new note and change back to the original note the text I wrote moments before is missing. Other notes do not seem to be affected. I do also have evernote on my andriod phone but I rarely use it there. I am a premium member, please can you advise me on this? Best, Mark
  3. Dear Evernote, Its been real. We've had our ups and downs. I remember when I introduced you to my mom in 2011, and then my now wife shortly afterwards. I brought you into my family. There were growing pains while we learned to work together. You lost my files a couple times, your syncing was perpetually buggy, and you started to put too much makeup on instead of focusing on your core strengths. But we still stuck it out, and were able to get through it. Believe me, there were times where I looked at other softwares longingly, but I thought of the commitment and deep bonds that I thought you and I shared. I bought all your books. I shopped in the Marketplace. I know who Bretty Kelly and Daniel Gold are, and a host of other people who have made a living touting your name. But I'm sorry to say, that I can't go on living like this. I thought we were ready to take it to the next level today. In fact, I committed whole-heartedly. I upgraded to Business from Premium. I brought my employees on board. And how do you treat me? You lose my notebooks when I "convert to business", resulting in many more dollars in loss than I paid for the business subscription, and then ignore my supplicating emails for help. It only took a day to see the real you, a bloated, grown-too-fast company that used to spark such hope in my soul. I now realize I should never have believed your silver tongue about making my business life effortless. And now I have paid the price. Don't get me wrong, I'll always remember the good times we had together, but I need to move on. Maybe we can make it work someday. With (formerly) all of my love, Lost and alone P.S. Does anybody know how to help me get my 1900 evernote notes and their attachments into Google Apps?
  4. I downloaded the new version of EverNote today to my Mac that runs Mountain Lion (10.8.3). (I can't upgrade to Yosemite yet because by organization does not support it yet.) Everything is messed up, and I worry that my whole library will get corrupted. When I click on a note, the text usually does not display. What does happen, however, is that the title changes to "Untitled". This propagates to my iPad and iPhone. Fortunately the next is not changed. But as one who upgraded to Premium because I use Evernote for some critical business functions, I am extremely worried about this, and it appears that I cannot contact the company until tomorrow (Monday). Has anyone else had this problem?
  5. Long time Premium user. Just upgraded to 6.0 and was greeted with one of the most horrible interfaces I've seen in a long time. Shades of gray? Really? I hope you listen to your paying customers and offer some options to tone down this abomination.
  6. I've been dealing with Evernote tech support for 2 weeks now. Bumped up a level. Still no help. I had a folder synced to my iPad. I wanted to remove it temporarily. I discovered you can't change a synced folder to a local one. I created a new local folder on my Mac and copied the other folder over. By the time I returned from a long vacation, I had forgotten about this whole episode. I tried syncing but, of course, it's a local folder (I now realize) and didn't sync. I tried changing the name of the folder. That, of course, made no difference. I contacted tech support. He had me send an Activity Log. Told me my EN copy on Mac was out of date. Curious as I have apps update automatically. Nothing about export all of your notes first or anything. So I did this. Came up with an archive error. I went to website, downloaded current app. It migrated data over. However, either then or when it synced, it wiped out that folder (I assume because it hadn't synced with web?). I've since learned that folders are stored in different directories depending on where software was downloaded from. Mine seem to indicate I downloaded the app directly from web and they currently are in user/my name/Library/Application Support/ but then, it says it should be in a directory "Evernote" but mine are in com.evernote.Evernote. I've gone to the AppStore and if I try to download EN it takes my directly to my Evernote. This folder contained a lifetime worth of recipes. I have a Time Machine Backup that goes back to Apr 2014. I have since tried to restore my Mac but it didn't stop to ask my where restore date I wanted (as as PC would have). It just restored it. Evernote is the same. Tech support has suggested various places to look for files including purgatory but not there. I just can't understand how I ended up in this mess using a Time Machine backup and why they can't tell me how to recover my data. Can anyone help me?
  7. Title is disappearing when printing Steps to reproduce While looking at a note, type Cmd-P or go to the File menu and select Print... Print dialog appears Either print or cancel Note's title has been cleared and is not blankExpected results: note title remains untouched
  8. And when i wanted to report the issue, the system told me that support is only for paid users? So the paid user will get its data restored and mine is gone? I love the app but this will not convert me to paid. Really unhappy with losing this important content that I put there in last months. 9. I work with a University Library and we have several patrons utilizing the Evernote service, including myself. Currently we're getting a large number of users reporting back to us that they are receiving corrupted notes inside the latest version of Evernote for Mac. Message simply displays an error message regarding the rendering of the page. The note is still visible in the thumbnails. For more information you can see the attached screenshot. I am supporting this establishment for the Evernote use so I'm eager for any assistance or solutions. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
  10. I just upgraded from the automatic prompt that there is a new version of Evernote. Never had an issue before. My local notebooks are GONE! I can't find them the folders that are listed in some of the posts as to where my files are are not the same folder names that I have. Yes, I back up, but not every day. I have actually done quite a bit of work the past month in my local folders so my backup from a month ago, while, helpful still leaves me screwed! Please tell me that this can be fixed.
  11. I see the notes in card and snippet view. However the content of the note is not shown? Only dates of Creation and Update are visible. I can still update and see the notes in iOs.
  12. The Mac app store auto-updated Evernote to version 6. Notes appear in sidebar but when selected, the note content is completely blank. Double-clicking any note opens a window, where the content again is blank, but the title gets CHANGED to "Untitled Note", which then propagates to the cloud, effectively erasing the note title. What the **** is going on here???? Screenshot attached of a note that HAD a title, with a photo, doubled-clicked to open up to show no content and now an erased title.
  13. Just upgraded to Evernote 6.0 from the App Store. It's not displaying the notes. Just a big blank area where the note goes. Except sometimes it does display the note. When it does, it erases the note's title and then uploads it. So now I have several untitled notes with the wrong modification dates. And then I thought to go recover the notes by going to the web and using the history to reset the mod dates and get the titles back, and nope, no history. This is kind of a disaster. Kevin
  14. Ever since i updated Evernote in the past two days, i have had trouble accessing any of my notes. I can see them but if i try to open them, I get a blank screen AND then when i close the (blank) screen, the note becomes "untitled". Does anyone have a clue what is going on? Thanks
  15. I let Evernote (5.something, pretty recent) on my 10.9.5 box upgrade itself to version 6.0. None of my messages are available. Actually, sometimes they appear when I click their title, but then the text disappears when I click another note. I checked the web GUI, and the notes are still there (whew!) I read about some other bugs in 6.0, so I manually downloaded 6.0.1 from the website. Result: - I seem to have all my notes. - I seem to have lost all the note titles from the few items I attempted to open. I was able to re-type them in the OSX client After a few minutes of further operation, it seems to be working OK. Still, pretty crummy upgrade.
  16. It continues to baffle me that Evernote would allow people to auto-update to the data losing version 6.0 from the App Store. Correct me if I'm wrong but they should be able to reject the bug-ridden binary and revert to a previous version. They have kept it for **ten days** now. Enjoying the one-star reviews so much? Data safety is supposed to be one of Evernote's "Three Laws of Data Protection": http://blog.evernote.com/blog/2011/03/24/three-laws-of-data-protection/ But apparently they don't really mean it?
  17. I am searching for very important notes I created months ago. When I search for the note and select a note to view from the list genreated during the search, the title of the selected note is erased and then synced. Now if is almost impossible to find these notes now that the titles of the notes have been erased. Please let me know if there is a way to get these back. 18. In latest Mac version (6.0.1), if you are dragging a note attachment (such as a PDF file) and accidentally drop it in the title area of the note, the attachment disappears. It cannot be restored, there is no Undo, it is not in the trash. Completely gone. Interestingly, while dragging it the mouse icon changes to a "plus" sign while hovering over the title, indicating something should happen.
  19. Details are as follows: Mac OS X version 10.9.5 current or upgraded version of Evernote: 10.6.0 (451119 Direct) I got a window pop-up that asks me if I want to update to the latest version of Evernote. I clicked Yes and it started updating. After an update, I find all my sync'd to cloud Notebooks BUT could not find all my local notebooks (not sync'd to cloud). A quick search in Finder tells me that all my local notebook contents are in: ~/<user>/Library/Caches/Metadata/com.evernote.Evernote. Title of notebook files are p<numeric number>.evernote. Example: p156.evernote. I opened the .evernote file in TextEdit and I can see all my notes there in xml format. I want it shown in my Evernote app and in the right format as before. How do I point my Evernote app to find my local notebooks?
  20. Since the more version 6.0 upgrade on my Mac desktop, I have found Evernote to be dysfunctional! Until this upgrade I would have said that Evernote is my favorite app, but not any longer . . . I am running Mac OS 10.9.5. I read through the forum comments and did find that restarting my desktop helped to see all the "missing" notes, but that is only the beginning of the issues I am experiencing. Currently, I am trying to do nothing more than create a new folder (successful doing that) and then creating a new note in that file! Sounds simple enough, but the "new note" comes up but I am unable to add a title, content, tag - nothing! The page is blank and I can do NOTHING with it. The only option at this point is go back to my notebooks . . . this is bizarre!!!
  21. Hi, not been using EN too long but long enough to get to grips with it and require a Premium account. However, on many instances when look at a note or open something from within an attachment, the Note reverts to being called 'Untitled'. At first i thought it was maybe me accidentally being a bit quick on the keyboard but i have been extra careful over the weekend and it is still doing it. Its very annoying, particularly when a note is just a title, for example a reminder as then you have no content to jog your memory on what it should be. I have searched the forum and some say upgrade from the App Store version 6 to the web version 6..01 which i have done but it is still happening (and if this is a flaw in 6.0 then surely 6.0 should be replaced quickly with 6.01), but its still happening. Lost a bit of confidence due to fact i have had a couple of notes revert to 'untitled' and i cannot remember what they were. Any help or steer would be great. Thanks all Barry
  22. I have older evernote account, I created this account in 2009, and I put lots of notes and useful information in this accounts. Now, after few years of inactivity, I logged in to this account. All my notes, files, picture are gone. In fact nothing was there. It seems, after few years of inactivity, Evernotes, just erases all your files. This is very concerning, since I am afraid to create lots of files and the same thing would happen again. This is regrading the free Evernote. Does this happen to anyone to lose all their files after some period of inactivity? What is the solution or can I ever get back my files? Since I do not have paying account I cannot even talk to anyone in Evernote to see if they can restore those files if they have it. This is very disappointing and I am very frustrated why my files are removed? Please help, any suggestions... Thank you all. Your help is greatly appreciated.
  23. Evernote 6.0 on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 6.0 was working fine for me for a few days. Then I double-clicked to open a note in a new window. Result ... DISASTER. -- The window was empty and marked "Untitled" instead of the name of the note I opened. -- The note I HAD opened was renamed "Untitled" also. -- The contents of ALL NOTES has now vanished from the main evernote view .. all of them .. all notebooks. Restarting Evernote doesn't fix this. Nothing I do can restore the notes data. The note part (right hand window) remains totally blank, just showing the created and updated dates and then nothing. Fortunately my iPad shows the notes are still intact, so the note data is still there .. but Evernote on my Mac apparently cannot display it. Any ideas? --Tim
  24. I did upgrade the other day to version 6 and the upgrade managed to lose notebooks. On further examination, it was the off-live note books which were not carried over to the new version. Luckily I kept the old version so I transferred the offline notes to a synched notebook and then upgraded. Seems to have worked ok. (I could have exported the notebooks and re-imported them after upgrade.) Couple of points... 1. Why does Evernote checksum the contents prior to upgrade and then rechek the checksum afterwards? This would at least alert us to the fact that the new version was 'different' in content. 2. Even better would be a notbook by notebook comparison to highlught notes not transferred. Shouldn't have to do this but it seems Evernote has not been successful at performing faultless upgrades. 3. Without this type of checking how do I know whether the content I had before the upgrade is the same as afterwards?? 3. Off subject but the MAC version is the most boring UI I have ever had the misfortune to look at. I use Evernote extensively and need to have some faith in the product. Currently, I don't.
  25. I had a to-do list I spent a lot of time on and somehow it got deleted. But then after hours I finally found the trash. Then I found the note and it was an old one, not the one I was looking for. This has really screwed me up. I didn't do anything. My pc says there conflicting modifications and I don't know what this means. I'm so pissed. Why would those idiots make it so hard to find the trash anyway?
