  1. Hello, fellow Evernote users! My name is Myles McGinley, and I am the founder of Tangle, a knowledge management tool and Evernote integration that generates connections between your notes and automatically shows you them in an explorable graph. We are launching our closed alpha test in early July and are looking for passionate Evernote users to try out Tangle and give us feedback. Click here to sign-up! A bit about why we are building Tangle: We have found that our knowledge is siloed. It is siloed as thoughts in our notebooks, emails in our inbox, and files in our folders. Most importantly, it is siloed across people. The greatest innovation, collaboration, and creative breakthroughs come from connections, yet our technology continues to focus on isolated content creation. A solution for personal knowledge management in today's world of information overload should be holistic and connected. It should constantly give you the feeling of building an explorable map. It should frequently elicit the dopamine rush of the Aha! moment. It should automatically connect your current thinking to the past. It should not only seal the cracks through which so many of our ideas slip but opportunistically bring them back to the surface when helpful. That is how it feels using Tangle. We are building it because we believe in empowering everyone to capture and connect thoughts to create big ideas. A description of the product: Tangle is your personal knowledge graph. It’s a tool that leverages the power of connections to make anything you write down more valuable. Capture your thoughts, jot down ideas or take notes without worrying about how to organize them and watch as they connect automatically with any related information in your tangle. Easily surface interesting relationships between what you know when you search your tangle. You can also integrate Tangle with Evernote. Easily import your Evernote notebook to seed your tangle and immediately visualize all the connections between your notes. Don't worry, this is a one-way import, we do not touch any of your Evernote data and anything you import into Tangle can be easily exported as well. We will be developing more integrations soon! We'd love some of you guys to give Tangle a shot. If you are interested in learning more, visit https://usetangle.com and sign-up! Thanks for reading! Feel free ask any questions and I will be sure to get back to you.
  2. I have the latest ver. of my desktop evernote app for windows. When I try to log in, I see the message: "Can't connect to server" I have this problem during a few days, so I have to use only my mobile app. Hope for your advice.
  3. Hey, I just updated my Mac to Sierra and ever since I can not connect my desktop application with the internet again. It works on my phone and online smoothly. I tried to delete and reinstall it again, but nothing is working here. MacBook Pro 13-inch (late 2011) Processor 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 250GB SSD Any suggestions?
  4. I've had this for a couple weeks now; I think it's since iOS8 (iPhone 5S). Anyone else had this, or know a solution? Nearly every time I open the app, the error in the photo shows. I click "Try again" and the box disappears but nothing happens; then I click the sync button (the round one) and it syncs perfectly. I wonder if it's an issue with background refresh or location services? I've tried turning them on and off, and reinstalling the app, but no difference. Internet connection is always fine. Similarly, I get a lot of "Conflicting modification ..." in my notes now, even though there is no difference between the original and the "conflicting" one.
  5. Hi -the Evernote circular of today states that the SSL3 'problem' had concerning effects relative to Windows XP and seemingly advises that Windows 8 is now required to gain full Evernote functionality? or have I got that wrong? - like millions I don't care for Win 8 and have just upgraded to Win7 ( more stable better platform etc) - whats the skinny on Win 7? will that continue to function OK?
  6. I downloaded and installed 'evernote_4.5.8.7356.exe'. When I click on the icon, this message appears : "You need to be online to register or perform an initial sync. Please check your internet connection". However there isn't any problem with the internet connection. I use Avaste free antivirus. I need help!
  7. I am getting this error message every time I try to log in or click on create account. My other devices are allowing me to log in without problems. I have reinstalled evernote a couple of times. This started happening after I upgraded to Yosemite on my mac. I have evernote 6.0.5 installed.

    mac SSL Error

Hello I get the sync wheel turning for ever and then an error "An SSL error has occured and a secure connection to the server cannot be made" This is not specific to version 6 (Mac) since it has been going on for a few days since before the update. All notes are synced though. 9. Hi. I have Evernote on two PCs and my cell phone. On a PC (WinXP), I could no longer synchronize my account. Then I reinstalled EverNote. Now I can't connect to the server any more. All other internet connections work without problem. I have checked DEP, add exeptions and turn of the firewall, with no sucess. EverNote works as before on my other PC and my mobile phone. Why can't Evernote access the server any more? Thanks for help Stefan
  10. I am getting this message from the OS (screenshot attached) twice whenever I open up Evernote, additionally when I go to various screens in Evernote (for example, "Preferences"). It's been happening for a while. Running up-to-date Yosemite, as well as the latest release of Evernote. I tried deleting Evernote and reinstalling, same issue. I'm not sure why it's trying to look at this server at all. Evernote is installed locally, I haven't put any pieces of Evernote onto this remote server. It IS a valid IP address for my SAN at at home, but there's nothing on there that it would be accessing anyway. The error comes up no matter where I am, no matter whose network I'm on. I've been using Evernote for years and it's the first time I've ever seen anything like this.
  11. I have downloaded Evernote onto my laptop, which is running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2. When I try to open Evernote, I get a dialog box appear, which reads. CANNOT CONNECT TO SERVER. You need to be on-line to register or perform an initial sync. Please check your internet connection. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Evernote several times with the same result. The internet connection is working, I've also checked the firewall which is set to allow Evernote to connect. Can anyone help with this problem please? Alan

    windows failed sync

I created a notebook in Evernote from my laptop instead of on my Ipad - it did not automatically sync to my Ipad. I have tried repeatedly to manually sync but I keep getting the failed to connect to Evernote servers message. I had to duplicate the notebook manually in my Ipad Evernote app. Any suggestions on solving this problem?
  14. This undoubtedly a duplicate post. But the search displays a popup in which the links are unclickable, and going to the displayed URL says the page doesn't exist! I'm sync'ng from work computer just fine (Win7), but my home computer has been offline for a week (Vista). I checked for updates, restarted the computer, and ensured that IE isn't in offline mode. (Don't use it, but I checked to be sure.) I still get the message that Evernote couldn't connect to the server. It happened once before, a few months ago, too. Darned if I recall what the solution was. But it was something weird.

    Sync issues with iOS8

I'm usually the first to get any update, but this time chose to wait with iOS8. Having recently isntalled the iOS 8.0.2 in my iPad air and iPhone 4s, i realized that the app is having sync issues, showing a message that 'Sync was not completed because connection with server was lost'. Does anybody face the same problem?
  16. I run Evernote on six computers and two tablets. It's works fine on all of them and ran OK on this one until today. Now it just won't sync. I get a note that says, "Can;t connect to server. Try again later." I deleted the program and reinstalled it and now I get the same error message just trying to sign in. I made sure my Windows firewall was set right and even offered the thing a nice piece of cake but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Cannot Connect to Server

Hi, Ok so I did check the forums - but, I only seem to find "Cannot connect to server" which relates to syncing or accessing the internet. My problem I think is a bit different. I previously used my mac mini to access the internet via internet sharing. Now that I no longer do this, Evernote on my MBP complains (as it opens) that I cannot find "whatever I called my mac mini". After this it continues and works properly by accessing the net via my new connection. Thing is, it takes forever to open (probably because it is looking for my old mac). I've looked all over for any setting related to this, but can't find any. Also updating today to the latest version didn't help either. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  19. When I opened the Evernote Mac application for the first time, A message immediately popped up telling me to check my connection. My browser isn't having any problems and I did a speed test. No problems. Right before installing, I installed the program on my Mac desktop with no problems. Just in case the problem was that the program was still open on the other computer, I quit the application on my desktop. This is still the message that is coming up. I came to the forums to see if this I missed something obvious or if this was a common problem with a solution. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!
  20. I'm developing an evernote application on Android 2.2 I use a very slow modem connection for testing (I think a CSD connection; 9.6 kbit/s up and down). When I create a note with an attachment and execute a createNote it will crash repeatedly. The actual crash occurs in TAndroidHttpClient.java that is part of edam on the line: HttpResponse response = dHTTP.execute(request); Please see the crash log below: Due to this crash the call to createNote does not return. The created note however is actually uploaded successfully to the evernote server. My local database still holds this note in the dirty (new) state due to the confirmation from the evernote server is not received and I can not decide if the note is uploaded successfully (it is available on the evernote server when check it with my browser on my PC) or it actually failed uploading. I have worked around this problem (because it can happen with any other modem also due to connection loss at any time) in a way that I am able to match a server note (it was actually uploaded successfully) with my own local notes. When a match can be made I locally update my note with the guid and remove the dirty flag (in this case a new note attribute). So far so good. However, when I start synchronizing immediately after the createNote the getSyncState does not report a higher updateCount, so I do not need to do an incremental Sync. Because I do not receive any change from the evernote server I can not match the previous uploaded note. The next step is to send local changes. Because the recently uploaded note locally still is in the new state (it was not matched) I only can send the note again to the server. This leaves me with two notes on the serverside containing the same content. An easy fix to this problem seems to delay the next synchronization a small amount of time (some seconds) so that the evernote server is able to process the newly created note. This should result in getSyncState getting the higher updateCount so that an increamental sync is done and the the newly uploaded note is matched in my local database with a server note. This did not solve the problem, it looks like the added delay to start synchronizing (I have tried up to 33 seconds) also delays the evernote server to accept the created note. In some sort of way the connection to the evernote server is kept open. And during this time the created note is not processed by the evernote server (maybe the evernote server is still waiting on some information?). During the delay the note is not seen in another client (I used my browser on my PC to check). When the synchronisation process is started the uploaded note suddenly pops up in the browser. However at this moment the getSyncState completed and received no evernote server changes. I think the getSyncState actually finishes the createNote. The next attempt is to fix this is to force to close the connection. In the TAndroidHttpClient.java I have added a function doing the next: private void CleanUpConnectionManager() { if(mConnectionManager != null){ mConnectionManager.closeExpiredConnections(); mConnectionManager.closeIdleConnections(1, TimeUnit.SECONDS); } } This function is called in the surrounding catches of the line where the initial crash occurs: HttpResponse response = dHTTP.execute(request); This does not solve the problem. Also adding a call to the close() function in the CleanUpConnectionManager() does not fix the problem. The only way I can think about fixing this problem is to check if multiple equivalent notes are on the evernote server and delete the duplicates. I my oppinion this is the incorrect way to procede. I don't understand why the createNote actually crashes, this is the primary cause of the problem. This should be fixed.
  21. After a new install on my CEO laptop, I cannot connect to the evernot servers due to a security certificate error. I have placed the evernot website as an accepted site in his system but with no luck. any ideas would be appreciated.
  22. Hi all, today I realized that the EvernoteSession model in the iOS SDK doesn't handle failed NSURLConnection instances. For example when one tries to submit an authentication request without any internet connection this would be a nice feature. Simply extend the implementations of the NSURLConnectionDelegate protocol in the EvernoteSession.m file with the following lines. - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { self.completionHandler(error); } The completion handler than might be subject to further adjustments for this special case (see http://stackoverflow...6689538/1068052).
