  1. I was using Evernote to store passwords. Then my docment became 3 documents - conflicting changes, and 2 versions of the original. So I don't know which has the latest passwords and with 2 docs with the same name I have updated more than one. Then when I try to search for a keyword, it finds nothing. Sometimes after much shuffling about I find little yellow markers, but I had to scroll there myself. On the phone the software simply stalls and typing is mega slow across wi-fi. I did try to stich together the 3 docs but it was too much work. I left it as an archive and switched to Google Keep. Honestly, as a text editor with a simple find function it failed miserably. It's too bloated and too slow.
  2. Hi there, I have been using Evernote Premium for a long time. A few months ago it started having "conflict" problem. When I am writing my note, the problem comes up, and a conflict note is created, I keep writing, It keep creating new conflict note after few minutes. It is very annoying. I think there is something wrong with Evernote syncing system. Please check and give me a solution. I do not want to change my note app, I like Evernote. Thank you, James.
  3. Suggestion: when the last note is deleted or moved out of a "Conflicting Changes" notebook, a dialog should appear offering the user the option of deleting the notebook.
  4. I love Evernote but the key problem I have with it are handling synchronization conflicts. Going through notes after a conflict and resolving it manually without any UI support is a real pain with the current approach of adding complete copies. Are there any plans for a more Git-like conflict resolution where one can see what came from where like every source code editor with version control integration does? Synchronization conflicts are not entirely preventable when one travels a lot and works offline and on mobile devices. Please make this a bit more convenient. The current state is a productivity and motivation killer. Thanks, RMK
  5. Hello, I have a bone to pick with you, Evernote team: three times now, a big document that my partner has created in Evernote which she's shared with me has been obliterated by Evernote's terrible "Conflicting modification" idiocy, totally nonsensically. The previous time it happened, there were a whopping twenty one spurious conflicts - it took over an hour to sort through each one and manually merge the changes. This involves first being on the ball enough to spot the well-hidden "Conflicting modification" text at the end of the document, then manually scrolling through the thing looking for the "Conflicting modification" titles, and copying out the content between that and the next one into a new note, then scrolling through each and comparing side by side: twenty one times. It's happened again today with a different document, with six different conflicts, dated from weeks ago, for no apparent reason. Of course, we take great care to have one of us sync first and close a shared note before the other opens it, and still this happens. We've since taken to using offline notebooks for now, which means we can't collaborate on check-lists and such, because this bug renders Evernote utterly unusable, and unable to be trusted unless it's offline. This, of course, defeats the purpose of Evernote - we might as well use Pages documents. I can't believe this abysmal piece of work made it through QA; those responsible really should not be working in technology, surely. Anyone else having their data wiped out by this *****? We shouldn't have to put up with this nonsense from you, Evernote! Do you guys even use your own product?! Appalled.
  6. "Conflicting Changes" are piling up because I don't have the time to go thru them, especially while on my phone. I can't find the differences. When going into and out of wi-fi or cell coverage and USING my evernote, there can be overlapping changes, and I don't know which is current because I can't SEE the old and the new. This causes me to NOT make entries in Evernote, for fear of adding ANOTHER conflict, that must then be perused. And I have too many already (needing examination). There needs to be a screen where I can evaluate the conflicts. It could be a window that simply shows the two files side-by-side where I can choose one. Maybe in later incarnations, a smarter window that highlights the differences. In some cases I have to decide between 3 changes. And this window needs a "delete this conflict" BUTTON.
  7. I am on the verge of the paid version of Evernote but in the meantime restricting myself to 2 devices: iPhone and iPad. I wrote in a note with an update note on my iPad last night. Didn't manually sync the iPad to the cloud, just closed it. Later in the night, go to the same note on my iPhone, which doesn't have the new stuff from the iPad on it. But figured I'll write in that note on the iPhone and sync it all later, relying on conflict resolution to detect which it's done before many times successfully. This morning, using my iPhone as a personal hotspot, I go to sync the iPad's Evernote. I can see the original updated iPad note and the iPhone just has the more recent note. Seconds later, the Evernote iPad notes are gone and replaced with only the new iPhone note. Nothing more. The iPad note missing, no conceivable way to retrieve it. Not sure if there's some history or other manner but will look into it. Regardless, I counted on conflict resolution to at least notify me, not have things overwritten and gone for good. Figuring also that just b/c I used personal hotspot it didn't assume the iPhone is the boss and blows away everything else.
  8. On my laptop and my iPhone i use Evernote to keep my notes in sync. Today I took some notes from my iPhone and went to the laptop later wanting to sync, but hit a backspace on top of the note on the laptop prior to hitting sync, and perhaps Evernote thought I wanted to delete the new content, and subsequently the new content disappeared from my phone. How do I get the new content back? It contains some valuable information and this isn't the first time it's happened. Please help. Thank you.
  9. I'm confused about about "Confliciting Changes". I've tried searching for answers that would explain this feature but keep coming up blank. There seems to be a plethora of resources but I don't seem able to find the trees for the forest. Is there a single manual or something where I can just read about Everhotes features and how to use them? To learn, for example, what "Conflicting Changes" are and how to deal with them?
  10. (I'm in PC version 5.6.4.4632) Ctrl+Shift+B is supposed to be the shortcut for toggling bullet lists, but it isn't working for me anymore. Instead it activates Skitch. Apparently because Skitch has the same shortcut as a global hotkey to bring up a blank canvas: Neither of these shortcuts are customizable, as far as I know. Anyone know of a fix for this?
  11. I was recording an audio today in class with my mac while taking notes. At the same time I took a photo from my phone to add to my notes. EN tried to sync the note and stopped my recording and didn't even save it. Does EN save recordings somewhere I don't know? I can't find it and it was a 40-45 min recording.
  12. This is a question about how you handle Conflict Management and sharing note content with others. I hope this kind of question is in the right place, if not - please reply with appropriate location. I'm the CTO of a software company and I use Evernote to store all my business ideas, development plans, suggestions and research information - and I share a lot of this with my teams. Conflicts in notes are hard to solve - first you have to know you've got conflicts, which isn't always obvious - then you have to manually look at both copies of the note to work out what changed. I'm writing a conflict management solution will identify which notes have conflicts, and resolve these in most cases automatically, allowing you to preview the resolution before accepting it. The other part of my project is related to sharing. If you share notes with other Evernote users, you may have noticed that it's somewhat time consuming to tell people which notes have changed. From within the desktop Evernote client, the best one can do is to send an email to all users you are sharing a note with to inform them something was modified - it's a very manual process, and you have to remember to do it. My sharing solution would automatically send a change notification to the users you are sharing notes with. The users on the receiving end will have the choice to receive and email, twitter or Facebook notification. In addition; the notification sent to users will contain a summary of the actual content that has been added, modified or deleted - turning Evernote into a fantastic platform for keeping people up to date with lots changes over time. I would appreciate knowing if you would use such a product, would you please be able to take another 2 minutes to answer the following questions? Simply reply to this post in this forum with answers to the following 5 questions. 1. Do you wish there was a better way to resolve conflicts in an Evernote note? (yes/no) 2. Do you wish there was a better way to share changes you make to your Evernote notes with those you are sharing them with? (yes/no) 3. What do you think such a solution is worth paying for - if offered as a subscription based service: 15 - 20 p/month10 - 15 p/month5 - 10 p/monthNothing4. 13. I have a note called "0a", which is where I used to dump random stuff for sorting out later. A few months ago I started getting the "conflict in note" message, with the offending note being placed into a new "Conflicting Changes (date)" notebook. But there were never any differences (that I could see). I opened the two conflicting notes side by side and they looked the same line by line. Anyway. I stopped using "0a" about 2 months ago because it was too annoying. Even though I never paste or grab content from "0a" anymore, I still get told it conflicts about once a week. It's less now with Version 5.0.7 (400995), but it still happens. Why? ___________________________________________ EN v5, mac osX 10.83 (laptop), 10.7x (desktop) (I dont see the conflicting note at all on iPhone version)
