  1. Hello, I love the code block feature that was added. However, I think it has some down falls. Mostly, I think it is lacking in text formatting. An amazing feature would be for Evernote to recognize some popular coding languages and be able to color code variables and other identifiers. At the very least, I wish the code block kept my formatting when I copied and paste from a text editor. I often copy and paste code from SQL management Studio hoping for the color coding to stay, which it does not. If I copy into a normal section, it is fine but, the code block removes the color formatting. (I have tried pasting with match style, does not work). I think this would make Evernote more robust and be able to reach a larger audience. Mainly, extend reach to developers who would like a place to effectively store their code for reuse. Thank you for taking the time to consider this idea!
  2. The new Code Block feature is great! I use it a lot. Here are a couple things that would make it even greater: Convert smart quotes into straight quotes. I copy code snippets from websites, and when I later try to use them, I'm often told that there are "illegal characters" in the code, which turn out to be smart quotes. AFAIK, programming editors don't deal well with these. I recommend that when creating a code block, any "smart" quotes (and apostrophes) be converted into their plain equivalents. Maybe filter out other non-ASCII characters, or at least flag them so we can deal with them before they cause trouble. A common technique is to display them as a question mark inside a diamond. Allow "in-line" code formatting. Many programmer-oriented websites (like StackOverflow) display any text enclosed by backtick characters (`) with code styling. It would be great if Evernote could do this, too.
  3. Hi, I'm writing a lot about code on Evernote, and I constantly need to write block code, evernote provides a simple click for that, but sometimes I need a inline code block inside a paragraph, is there any way to do this? Also I would like to know If there's any way to change the code block font to a better one like fira code?
  4. I have been using Evernote to document some software development courses and for some time have been able to copy Javascript code directly from Visual Studio Code into the Evernote web application (not the Mac OS X client app). For months I would copy and paste code snippets directly from Visual Studio IDE into an Evernote note, and the result would look exactly like this: At some point in the past couple of weeks, something changed on the Evernote Web App. Now all of my notes containing copy and pasted sections of code suddenly look like this: AND I can no longer copy and paste directly from Visual Studio Code, as it results in this: Did some update to the Web Application break this?
  5. Hi Evernote Team, I am using evernote on Mac with version 6.13.3. I have a request. I use ``` to put the code in it. For example, see below. while (s.empty() == false) { top = s.top(); s.pop(); mark top as visited; check for termination condition (have we reached the target node?) add all of top’s unvisited neighbors to the stack. } Now I want to add tabs to it to look better: while (s.empty() == false) { top = s.top(); s.pop(); mark top as visited; check for termination condition (have we reached the target node?) add all of top’s unvisited neighbors to the stack. } To fix this code, I have to go to each line and press tab. Which is kind of painful. I know I can go to some other editor and make it work, like this: Generally, the other way round is that I select the lines I want to indent and press tab. Can you please provide this feature, so that I don't have to leave Evernote window for this task. Thanks.

    Code Block disappear

    Hi, I'm running the latest Evernote version. If I start Evernote, and click Format-->Style I get the Code block option. but if I select a note or text, this option disappears. Is this normal? Many Thanks, Florian
  7. I have a lot of notes with text blocks formatted as Code. Suddenly these blocks appear to have been oddly reformatted, with each line apparently enclosed in a doubly-nested code block. I can select these lines, then "Simplify Formatting" and they are transformed to a single block with default text style. Then I can reapply the Code style to get something like what I had. But what a pain!
  8. I'd like for Evernote to be better at supporting code. In other apps like Slack, putting text `in between these quotes` will automatically format the text to be like code. I'd also LOVE for there to be a custom keyboard shortcut that will allow highlighted text to be formatted like code, even if it's just to change the font face.
  9. Code block is nice. But it's monochromatic, this makes it feel like reading code in the 1990s (that's what my Dad said). Please Evernote team add syntax highlighting in the code block. This should not be hard to do.
  10. I take a lot of notes about code, and I find it unnecessarily annoying to have to highlight and change fonts when I need to take notes quickly. Please give us a keyboard shortcut that will switch to the monospace font for typing code. Please also give us a less ugly monospace font. The default font in the web interface seems to be a typewriter font.
  11. In Evernote 6.11, content marked as preformatted or code is displayed in the body text font instead of the preformatted font. It's properly marked up in HTML output, but not displayed properly on screen. This is making thousands of my notes unreadable.

    Unable to paste JSON text

    I am unable to paste JSON text into evernote for mac. Was anything changed? - vineet
  13. Hi, we want to program a macro for the app Phrase Express. We want to copy a pdf text + and built the correct paragraph. Then we paste it to EN. But Evernote uses not the same code like other apps. We need the code vor paragraph, to replace other characters. The normal code is: CR = (#asc 13) but it does not work My english is not very good. So I hope somebody can read the problem in German. 1. The current issue: Wie kommen wir weiter? Here a Screenshot of the whole text of the Problem: Or look to the attachment https://www.dropbox.com/s/1bk9t9catft5eur/%23732 - 'PDF_ Lücken aus Zwischenablage entfernen aber Absätze behalten - Bartels Media.png?dl=0 3. ' char replacement

    Hi. I use evernote for a variety of things, including organising my todo lists. As a software programmer, sometimes I store some small snippets of code there. When write or copy something in sometimes the char ' is replaced by ’ or ‘ (curved ones). Can this be avoided ? One other issue, not sure if related, is : sometimes when I do undo on large blocks, the scroll goes to top and do not stays on position. Thanks.
  15. Is there a way to add code such as $>this code block right here it would be super useful since I store my programming notes in here. I don't want to change the font size and indent everytime. If this isn't available please add this on. I know many others would benefit. Also, if you guys could team up with Beaker Notebook since they have the coding version of this. If you could collaborate with them it would be HUGE!
  16. There is even a code button here!!! For the love of anything add this to Evernote itself!! Whenever I copy+paste from a dark theme, it doesn't add a gray background like below, so all I see is bright neon text, no lne numbers, and no font size/type adjustment like below. 100% identical to below would be awesome: * Code detection/selection (like below) * Line numbers (like below) * Font family change (like below) * Font size changed (like below) * Background changed (like below) * Each row slightly different shade for readability (like below). Everything 100% is below that we coders want already -- please implement // Shocked that this is here, but not in Evernote itselfvar msg = "Why is this here, but not in Evernote?";alert(msg);
  17. I tend to write a lot of technical notes in evernote, and that also includes blocks of code, and it would be amazing to have a button to toggle a code block with automatic syntax highlighting.
  18. Hello All! While I know Evernote isn't tailored for coders, I've tried to set up my EN styling to help. For instance, I use a mono-space font as default this way when I paste in code, things will look readable (or familiar, at least). I use Sublime as my editor of choice, like many other programmers, and Sublime will colorize your code as you type to help visualize what's going on. While I don't expect EN to do something like this, I was wondering if there was a script or some add-on that could accomplish this. Here would be the workflow: Paste code into a new note Select the code (or portion of text) you'd like to colorize Run script or add-on The selected code is now colorized as in Sublime and other text editorsDoes something like this exist? Is it possible to create this in the EN universe? Not really sure of what can and can't be done here in EN land, but I'd sure like to find out! I've attached a screenshot of the colorization in Sublime for a visual reference. Thanks for any tips and constructive comments!
  19. For example, I want to save: window.onload = function() { MaskedInput({ elm: document.getElementById('mask'), format: '+375 (__) ___-__-__', separator: '+375 ()-' });};But I see: I found that before insert code to Evernote I must use service tohtml.com
  20. Code can be really terrible when copy+pasting in Evernote. Esp. if it's a dark themed copy+paste (all we see is bright colors) in Evernote, since there's no dark theme... *cough, another request*. Please add the NOTE feature on the forum here to Evernote. ' Where is the CODE section in Evernote?If Not Evernote.HasFeature(Evernote.Code) MsgBox("It's 2015 and this still isn't a feature yet..?!")End If
  21. Hi, Evernote messes up html code that gets pasted in. At first I thought there were some hidden chars in the copied text causing this, but when pasting in notepad++ for example, it does show correct. So here is the text I copy from the editor: <button type="button" class="navbar-toggle collapsed" data-toggle="collapse" data-target="#bs-example-navbar-collapse-1"><span class="sr-only">Toggle navigation</span><span class="icon-bar"></span><span class="icon-bar"></span><span class="icon-bar"></span></button>Then paste it in evernote, it turns into this: < button type= "button" class= "navbar-toggle collapsed" data-toggle= "collapse" data-target= "#bs-example-navbar-collapse-1" > <span class= "sr-only" >Toggle navigation</span > <span class= "icon-bar" ></ span> <span class= "icon-bar" ></ span> <span class= "icon-bar" ></ span></button ></nav>Look at all the spaces that are added. Can this please be fixed or offer a workaround. When pasting as plain text it pastes correctly, but then all the color coding is gone, and I want to keep that.

    mac Add Courier New to font list

    I'm running Evernote Mac App Store 5.5.1 and my font list is: Andale Mono Arial/Black Brush Script MT Comic Sans Georgia Impact Times New Roman Trebuchet MS Verdana Times New Roman I like to document code in Evernote using a monospaced font. Andale Mono comes close, but its thickness makes it look a lot like Arial. Is there anyway to add new fonts, such as Courier New, to this list?
  23. A shortcut for changing the case of selected text to lower, UPPER, Initial, etc., would be very helpful to me. I'm an Oracle SQL & PL/SQL Developer, and am finding that Evernote makes a great personal repository for -- code snippets -- completed scripts -- table structures -- data dictionary information -- database statistics -- techniques -- blog posts -- articles, etc. My personal GIT! Thanks!
  24. It would be greatly appreciated if Evernote had the capability to go into a "code view" for your notes if you so choose. The basic WYSIWYG editor is great for most cases, however I find myself wanting to do some formatting from time to time, or edit a document I did a clip of, that Evernote simply can't do without me marking up an html webpage instead, and then use the clipping tool again, and even doing some of the more simple things such as having lists inside other lists isn't possible on the mobile version of Evernote unless there's something I'm missing. The ability to optionally view and alter the actual markup of a note to edit it I feel would be a great asset for those of us who desire that little bit of finer control. This is one of the main drawbacks that is currently stopping me from using the Wiki System I currently use in it's place..
