  1. Recent premium user after using evernote free for 4 years and just ran into this issue where I used the evernote app for OSX and created a fairly lengthy note full of bulleted lists with varying degrees of indentation in sub-headings. All looked good and formatted to my liking, but as soon as I opened this note in the web browser (from a Linux machine where there is no evernote app) the whole indentation levels were lost. It went from something like: foo bar baz za za gabor to foo bar baz za za gabor Hoping there is a solution or workaround for this as a new premium user (less than a week) I am terribly unhappy and bitter that this simple issue is undermining the simplest usecase I had for evernote which motivated me to pay.
  2. Hello, this is my first time in the forums so I'll try to be brief... I have an issue with the numbering format for numbered lists with indented bullets. I had a list of bulleted material with sub bullets that I wanted to change into a numbered list. When I tried to do this however, first some of the tabs and formatting for my existing subullets were removed and realigned with my main bullets. Also, it changed the sub bullets to numbers (which I guess makes sense in theory) when I would have preferred to leave the sub-bullets alone and stay bullets. But my biggest problem of all (that also seems to have no manual work around) is that when you change the list to numbered, if there are any sub-bullets under any of the numbers, the numbers reset to 1 for the next main item on the list after the sub-bullet for the previous number. I cannot figure out how to fix this for the life of me. Plz help.
  3. I use Evernote to take all my business meeting notes. I need to email these notes to folks and emailing a link isn't acceptable in my business. So, I try to either (1) C&P the note directly into Outlook or (2) Export Note to HTML and then C&P that into Outlook. In both cases, I run into a terribly annoying situation - when pasted into Outlook I get an extra bullet per indent level. Here is what it looks like in Evernote: START TESTTESTTEST 2TEST 2TEST END Here is what it looks like when pasted (or exported and pasted): START TESTTEST TEST 2TEST 2TEST END By the way, the export to HTML looks fine. It's when I paste into Outlook. I have dealt with this for years. It's the reason I started using ONENOTE for a long time. I recently came back to Evernote and it still has the same problem. This does not happen when I C&P from Word, ONENOTE, WEBPAGES, so I don't think it's an Outlook issue. Fixing this would literally make this product perfect for me. It it remains broken I might have to find another solution as almost every note I write I email. HELP!!!!
  4. It would be great to be able to click-and-drag bullet point list in order to reordered them.
  5. Hi Evernote, First off -- EN is THE product I do all of my work in, I couldn't do it without you! I have one suggestion that I think would make numbered bulleted lists even better: When you are creating a series of bullets in Word it is possible to start at #1, add text, press return and then tab in to add sub-bullets (usually a,b,c), hit return again and then hit delete to back up to the indent of the original bullet without moving on to #2. This allows you to add additional text to #1 and then, when you are ready, hit return and continue the numbering at #2. This is not currently possible in EN and makes it impossible to add a conclusion or summary after a series of bullets and then continue. I work in Product Management and bullets are vital in describing user journeys and any other kind of process--this is so easy to do in Word but I would MUCH rather do it in EN. Just a thought! Keep up the terrific work! All the best, Ian Campsall
  6. After a certain 6.x beta update a week or two back - I don't recall which, and I was expecting another update would fix it, but the original update appears to have caused an actual change in the order of the ENML tags for bulleted lists in the content of all? most? of my notes so the lists are all effectively upside down now. D C B A Four Three Two One It's not what I'd classify as serious, though when combined with the usual issues with bullets, which seem to be worse now, I'd definitely tag it with ^Major PITA Apart from the usual issues with bullets, and the issue with numbered lists, I haven't seen a thread addressing this problem specifically. If there is one, then I'll happily delete this and move there instead. EDIT: this comment / sub-thread addresses it insofar as to say if you took the risk of using beta versions then there's nothing that can be done and you're on your own. I'll leave this topic here as a top-level reference to that comment, and the follow-up.
  7. After opening a note that was already created and trying to add a new line to a bulleted list, Shift+Tab breaks the bulleted list every time. Ctl+Shift+M does the same thing. Please fix this. It is really frustrating to want to place one more line into a bulleted list and have the entire process screwed up every time. I am using windows 7 and the newest release version of 5.5, and have premium membership. Also when copying a bulleted section of a note and pasting it into another bulleted section it causes a bullet to be placed in the same line as the previous bullet. This ends up ***** up the bulleted format for the entire section and you cannot seem to address it by just backspacing up to the previous line and hitting return to move the text back down to the line below it with new line's bullet. Please fix these two issues. I was hoping that the most recent release would have addressed it but it has not. These are very frustrating since most of my notes are in outline format and use bullets almost exclusively.
  8. I have created a bulleted list with multiple levels on my Windows client, and it looks fine on Windows, Web, and Android. But when I edit it on my Android device using the Evernote client, I cannot add to the bulleted list. For example, the list has 5 main (1st level) topics, with the second main topic having 3 sub-topics (2nd level). When on the Android client, I want to add a fourth item to that 2nd level list, but I can't. It adds the text to the third item of the 2nd level. When then viewing the note back on the Windows client, there is no bullet on that fourth item, although the client says that that item is bulleted (the bullet list icon is depressed). I can go to the beginning of that line, hit backspace (which puts that text at the end of the third item), then hit enter, which adds the bullet. But I shouldn't have to do that.
  9. Hey everyone, I don't know how many people are already aware of this because I've just now found this forum, but I'm having a small issue with the bullets. I've noticed that I can't shift tab a bullet back more than the third tab or the bullet disappears and I have to click the bullet tab 5 or 6 times to get my bullet back. It's not a huge issue, but I'm sure Evernote could come up with some kind of update to fix it. Anyone else having this issue?
  10. I am a law school student and I use Evernote (Mac) to take class notes. I would like to use it to make outlines for class as well. However, I am running into a problem. I cannot make multi-level lists. For example: Sometimes A list Like this works But, 1. Most A. of the time B. I need to make I. Lists like this II. To show 2. sub-levels of rules 3. etc. A. Does that make sense? Every time I try to use a numbered list and I hit [enter] for the next level and then [tab] to go to the for a sub-level, the numbers start over.
  11. Hi guys, In your main editing window, I find the bullet behavior to be quite strange. Can you please make the bullets behave more like Microsoft Word? Your indentation behavior is unpredictable...it's really hard to edit a list that has already been created (e.g. insert a bullet at a different indent or change indent). Additionally, consider a shortcut like ALT+SHIFT+ARROW to increase indent, decrease indent, or move items up and down the list. Happy to talk more about this if you want to follow up. Thanks, Matt
  12. Collapsible bullets would be awesome. Especially collapsible check-box bullets. My lists quickly get out of control with bullets under bullets, and I can't make head or tale of them after a while. If I could can through a list and see which ones have more items underneath, and then be able to tell that that item has all the sub-items completed just by looking at it... wow.
  13. On Android phones, ipad, and chrome app, indenting is done differently. Some times it's the left button to indent right. Some times its the right button to indent left. The ipad interface is best: left arrow on left, right arrow on right. Forget about the "MS Word" version. It's garbage. Use the arrows--people get that. You have a GREAT product!! I hope Evernote people see this. There seems to be no way to send a message directly to dev teams.
  14. Please fix the bulleted/numbered lists!! The bugs are numerous, but basically, get it to work reliably as most other RTF editors I've seen so that hitting tab or shift-tab DOES WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO!! Please, don't make me explain this as it should be VERY OBVIOUS to the most casual observer - the lists are broken, I use them EXTENSIVELY in my notes AND THUS it renders your application useless!! thanks, Joel
  15. When I review my Summary Notes, it takes all the text I have keyed and concatenates it removing all bullets and new line formatting so I can not work with it at the summary level but need to go into the detail of each note to plan. This is not conducive to overall organization across notes. I need to see the first part of each note the way I set it up so I can figure out how to put everything together. So for example, The beginning of one of my notes is set up as follows: House Repairs: Board for kitchen table Fix boards for my dining room table old Paint kitchen stool Windowsill in Dani's room In the Summary of this note, it shows as: House Repairs: Board for kitchen table Fix boards for my dining room table old Paint kitchen stool Windowsill in Dani's room So no bullet separators and no new line formatting. I cannot work with this and I cannot put it together with the other 8-20 notes I have without going into the detail of each and then I lose context. I assume there is some way I can set a parameter so my summary will show the proper list the way I have it set up. Can someone advise what I should be setting where to make this happen? Carol P.S. I have been reading the forum and the help and can find nothing on this - can someone please point me.
  16. I'm running EN 3.1.2 under OS X 10.7.4. Recently I've noticed a change in how Evernote handles a bulleted list which is rather awkward. If have a bulleted list that is two levels deep and have created a list item at the second level, if I wanted the next item to be on the first level, I used to be able to hit "Return" and then "Shift" + "Tab" and EN would create a new bulleted list item on that first level. Now, though, when I try to do this, hitting Return once creates a new bulleted list item at the same level but then hitting "Shift + Tab" just outdents without creating a bullet. I've found that I now have to hit "Shift" + "Command" three times to create a new bulleted list item at the first level. Was this an intentional change? It's rather awkward. Doing just "Shift + Tab" was a lot easier and more intuitive. Thanks.
  17. Hi, I know you don't comment on time estimates for releasing new features. However, I would be interested in knowing the relative priority of bullet and number indenting in Evernote Android. If it's a feature that's planned to land sometime in the next little while I'll create notes in Evernote Desktop that have bullets with indents. However, if it's not on the horizon, I'll just stick with plain text, indented bullets are a bit tricky to deal with at the moment. Thanks!
  18. I love evernote and use it regularly on my tablet, the lack of functionality with the bullets and numbers make it nearly impossible to use in meetings. Are there any plans to add functionality with sub-bullets?
