  1. The advanced search functions available through http://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/208313828-How-to-use-Evernote-s-advanced-search-syntax are great! However, they would be significantly better if the notebook: and tag: operators permitted autocomplete of the search parameter.
  2. This might seem minor but I use Chrome web clipper all day, every day, especially in Gmail. A minor annoyance is that while the notebook autocompletes, the tags do not. Per clip this is a minor annoyance but I use tags heavily and clip a lot, so this adds up to a lot of clicking that I'd rather avoid. Is there a way to do this now? If not, can I please request you to consider this feature? Thanks!
  3. Loving Evernote (Premium) but Autocomplete was driving me bananas so I tried to find a solution in the archives. The only thing I found was that you can't turn off autocomplete. It turns out that if you are using a Mac, Evernote's autocomplete is disabled when you disable the Mac's globabal autocomplete system preferences > text > keyboard: don't check spelling automatically. YMMV, but this may help someone else...
  4. I have several tags with the same prefix, eg TRC_Issue, TRC_Document, etc. If I try to add tag (Click to add tag) and type the tagname without the prefix, eg 'Issue', surely enough the tag is offered by the quick search: (tag "Issue" does not exist in my Evernote) When I hit ENTER at this moment, a new tag 'Issue' is created and the note is tagged by tag 'Issue' and not 'TRC_Issue'. The same happens if I CLICK on the offered TRC_Issue tag. Now I removed the tag Issue from the note (but didn't delete it) and I'll try again but type the word 'Issue' only partially: 'Issu' Pressing ENTER or Clicking on the offered tag Issue tags the note correctly with tag Issue. However clicking on TRC_Issue will create a new tag 'Issu' and tag the note with it. (now I've deleted the tag 'Issu') And I'll try to type 'Issu' into search box again, this time will use arrow keys to select either Issue tag or TRC_Issue tag. This works for Issue tag; the rest of the tag's name will appear in the search box in selected manner and hitting ENTER adds the tag Issue to the note. However doing the same for TRC_Issue, pressing arrow-down key to select it in the suggestions list and then pressing ENTER (or clicking) will again create and add 'Issu' tag to the note. I don't know if this is bug or working-as-intended (or if it was reported), but certainly clicking or selecting an existing tag in the search bar should add this tag and not create a new one.
  5. The Windows Client 5.6.4.4632 auto-suggests tags not only beginning with the characters you typed in the "click to add tags" box, but also suggests those tags where the typed characters appear wherever in the tag name. E.g: typing "mag" will trigger the existing tag "books and magazines". So far so good, but when selecting the suggested tag in that way, it does not allocate the existing tag to the note, but creates a new tag, in the example above "mag", which is of course not what we need. On the other hand, typing "boo" will also show "books and magazines", and when selecting the existing tag it will be properly allocated without creating a tag called "boo". I.e. when the text typed occurs at the beginning of the existing tag, there is no problem, but when the string is found somewhere within the tag, EN unwillingly creates a new tag. Any suggestions? Vincent
  6. This bug really affects workflow when you are trying to quickly tag with the GTD (Getting Things Done) method which uses a lot of tagging. Problem: If you start typing a part of a tag name (not the first letter) it will appear. If you try to click the tag or tab, highlight, and hit enter it creates a new tag of whatever you typed. Example: Say your tag was @home and you started to type "ho". Every tag that has the letters "ho" appear in autocomplete. But, no matter what tag you click, it will not choose it (unless the tag began with "ho") it will just create a new tag of "ho". Example 2: The tag is "Things to Buy". If you type "Bu" the tag appears in autocomplete. If you click the tag "Things to Buy" it creates a new tag called "Bu" I have a bunch of these tags created all the time because you have to remember to type exactly what the tag begins with for it to work properly. This is not how search autocomplete is supposed to work. This has been an issue for a long time and I see others report it on the Mac.
  7. I just removed all my nested tags and created new tags like: Computer.questions and Software.Outlook, etc. I just tried, 3 times, to add Software.Outlook to a note. The first attempt displayed "out", the second "outl", it wasn't until the third attempt the the full name of the tag displayed. I looked to see new tags had been created in the process and they had! In fact I found 3 new tags: "ou", "out" and "outl". I used the drop down list to pick the tag; after typing the first three characters in Outlook. It looks like EV requires more of the tag to be typed out. Have others experienced this problem? And, seriously, is it possible to create a usable image with a 40kg limit?? My screen capture software produces images >100, no matter how much I reduce them in size and resolution.
  8. *Edit: I didn't realize I could submit a support ticket as a free user. I have done so just now.* Hello there, I want to report some behavior that might be a bug. I just updated to EN 5.6.4.4632 (272632) Public yesterday. I have just started using EN religiously in the past week or so. I use it on my Windows machine at work (Dell running Windows 7), my iPhone, my iPad, and my MacBook at home. Today when I was tagging some notes on my Windows work machine, I noticed that I type some letters of the tag I want to use in the tag bar (list view), and a list of options appears. However, when I select one of those options, either by using the mouse pointer and clicking, or by keyboard navigation and pressing enter, it does not accept the tag that I selected. Instead, it creates a new tag using the few letters that I have typed. So, for example, I start typing "so" for "3-soon", and a bunch of options come up. I select "3-soon", and either highlight and click or select using the arrows and return, and all I get is a new tag called "so" that I have to go and delete. This behavior does NOT occur when I start out typing with the first letter/character of the tag - such as if I start typing "3". I am wondering why the list of options comes up at all if it will only accept tags that start with the "correct" letter/character. I thought these autocomplete suggestions were great, because I was having trouble remembering which number belongs to which timeframe, and remembering "soon", "later", etc is much easier than remembering the number I associated with it. I have other tags that I want ordered a specific way that have numbers and/or characters preceding them as well. But if EN only accepts autocomplete suggestion selections that match the tag starting letter, this is creating more work. It does not behave as expected. I would prefer if only those suggestions appeared that it would actually accept. I'm attaching a picture with a series of screenshots to show the behavior. What is not shown is the pointer, which did not capture for some reason. Trust me, I'm actually pointing and clicking or hitting enter when the choice is selected. Here's a link to the screenshot on dropbox in case it doesn't appear here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5456038/EN%20screenshot.png Thanks! Callista
  9. Hello Guys, I apologize for my English but I use google translator. I created a tag composed of two words such as "Rating Sales." When I want to assign this tag to a note, if I enter the word "Sales", the autocomplete does not enter in the list of tags "Rating Sales", but only those that start with the word "Sales". I wanted to know if it is a bug, and how you can solve. thank you very much Valentina
  10. this is my full note you can see the bug picture. https://www.evernote.com/shard/s152/sh/afcc3833-39d5-49f8-bc4f-8bbf5f89680d/93bbda2ba5c1eb14e4b4ea9579a11305 MY OS: Mac 10.0.4 let me show you when i input the ENGLISH WORD TAG + "AutoComplete" no problem no bug when i input "ENGLISH WORD" vs the problem is can not call "AutoComplete" word when i input "KOREAN WORD TAG". 11. I have upgraded to the new mac version of evernote, however, I noticed that I cannot add to old content my previous tags. The previous tags are there on the sidebar, but if I want to edit a note (directly or using the "i") it won't add them or start the autocomplete as the previous version of evernote did. The autocomplete doesn't work, but if I type the tag exactly as I have it (for example, with capitalization) it will not autocomplete, but it will recognize the tag. BUT, it then won't save that tag on the note and so I am back to square one again. Can't add tags to old notes. Also on the list of tags that are on the sidebar, it show a number next to each tag that shows how many documents are tagged, however when I click the tag, nothing is shown!!! If I click on the tags filter (next to Hide, all notes, notebooks) and then search for the tag, it then shows the tag with its notes and NOW, I can click on the sidebar tag and have the notes show up, this is irritating since I have to do this for all my tags.
  12. The AutoComplete behavior of the Tag dropdown on the Favorites Bar in EN Mac 3.0.7 Beta 5 is unexpected, not helpful, and inconsistent with the AutoComplete in the Tags section on the Note. The AutoComplete on the Fav Bar searches for the first occurrence of a Tag that CONTAINS the characters that are typed. The AutoComplete on the Note searches for the first occurrence of a Tag the BEGINS with the characters that are typed. For Example, suppose I have the following Tags: Announcement Evernote EN.Mac EN.Win When I am adding Tags to a Note, and I type "en" it displays a dropdown list starting with "EN.Mac", which is exactly what I would expect. But when I type "en" into the Fav Bar Tag filter, it first selects "Announcement", which is unexpected. EXPECTED BEHAVIOR: As I type into the Tag filter on the Fav Bar, it will search/select the first Tag that BEGINS with the characters that I type. While this would be only a minor inconvenience if you have a few tags, when you have more than about 20 (I have around 200), it is a major problem since you may not even be able to see the Tag of interest without scrolling. I think it is fair to say that very few people would be looking for a Tag by typing character in the middle of the Tag name. IMO, the most intuitive behavior is the same that is used on the Note Tags field. I'm not sure if the same issue exists in EN Win. But if it does, please change both EN Mac and EN Win to behave as I describe above under "Expected Behavior". Thanks.
