  1. I really enjoy Evernote and it is my note/thinking tool of choice. However, I regularly take audio note recordings at meetings to complement my typed/written notes. Audio notes help ensure overall note accuracy and can help validate questions or concerns when others question what was said in any given meeting. I would absolutely love to see options for controlling the speed of playback on audio notes. This would allow users to gain back many minutes when relying on audio notes for transcribing. Nothing crazy, either a global setting in Evernote to select a preferred playback speed or, even better, a control in the playback UI to allow selection on individual notes (since cross talk and background noise can be problematic at times - playback speed on a note by note basis would be better).
  2. Hi all, First post here. A few evernoters and I use the audio clip feature to capture conversations or meetings but when the phone locks screen, the clip is automatically stopped. We run note 3's and have have company policy that controls our luck screen timeouts (exchange sync) - any chance there is some work going on to make the audio record feature still work beyond locked screen? Would even be cool if there was the ability to pause/record from the lock screen like something like Spotify allows you to toggle with. Cheers
  3. Is there a way to increase the recording quality? Or can anyone suggest an alternative app that records in higher quality, for example in mp3 format? I use Evernote to record music ideas on my phone, but the audio is really compressed and so you can't hear the music very clearly. I just want an app where I can record and easily organise ideas. The recording does not need to be super high quality, but Evernote is really compressed. A 4 minute audio file is about 100KB. When I record using the default recording app on my phone, the quality is much better. I have attached an example of one of my recordings below so you can hear how bad the sound quality is. (I have converted the file to mp3 so you can hear it, but this is pretty much how the original file sounds when played in Evernote). 10_Jan_2018_I_can_t_think_straight.mp3
  4. been long time user of EN and a subscriber few weeks ago I submitted a support ticket but EN has not responded... new EN install v 6.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.8.5 With previous versions, able to record audio notes into my note new version unable to save notes. I am able see and press record the sound bar works (as audio is being detected) when ready to stop / save, click on SAVE No Audio file (where in previous versions audio file was visible) Tried uninstall / reinstall reboot cycles still no resolution thoughts ?
  5. Hi! My understanding is there should be a way to use Evernote to read text back in a computer voice (so I can hear what I have written). However, I cannot for the life of me find it, and I have been looking. I can get my Windows PC to take dictation, no problem, except that is the exact opposite of what I am looking for and it's got nothing to do with Evernote, anyway. So, thoughts? Or at least sympathy? Many thanks, in advance.
  6. Windows 7 64 bit Evernote build 6.10.3.6921 updated 3/20/2018 Evernote application (not web) With the new update, I see that when I play mp3 files within the evernote application, evernote has now extended the audio progress bar slider across the application, which is better. Before it was just a few inches. However, the progress bar does not work. You can hear your file, you can see the length of the file. But the timer of how long you have been listening stays at 00.00. And the timer at the end of the progress bar remains fixed and does not count. You can move the slider along and listen to different parts, but the numbers at either end of the bar remain fixed. Please advise.
  7. Hello guys, I am using Evernote premium and I nearly uploaded 8 gb of pdfs and audio Lactures to Evernote from my laptop. Now I am accessing these notes from iPhone 6s. But the problem is I have to tap on each and every pdf file to open. And worst part is it takes my mobile’s internal memory. If I want to read a file than it says “Tap to download”. And if I tap on it than it starts downloading. And it consume my internal storage. I want to read pdf online and don’t want to download to my iPhone to save space. I am not using offline features. Also here is a link of a thread which I read and did accordingly. Also I synced all my notes from the iPhone (in my view syncing is to tap on each and every note the says “tap to download” and once downloading complete I think it sync to the server. Is it true?). Then I deleted the app and restart the phone. So as in the thread says (by @gazumped) I got my storage back. But when I download this app again than it again says “tap to download” for each files. ☹️ I upload pdfs from laptop. Doesn’t it count as a syncing? please do needful as soon as possible. thank you Ps: I downloaded desktop version on win7 laptop and synced all the notebooks. Than I delete the app from mobile and download again but problem still persists. I have to download attachments (PDF files) to read them. And it occupy internal mobile storage.
  8. When I don't have the ability to type into my phone in the moment, I will record a spoken note. So I really valued being able to long-press the big green plus sign in order to get the audio option. But in this latest version of Evernote, when I long-press the plus, I get only "Reminder," "Camera" and "Photo" icons as options. Now, to create audio in Evernote I have to (a) press the plus for a new note (b) press the carat that makes my keyboard disappear and (c) find the microphone symbol and press that. This rigamarole cancels out the purpose of making an audio note in a rush. I just hate it, because it's caused me to lose notes I wanted to make. So, two questions: (a) Is there a way to personalize the interface so I can get the microphone as an option on long-press? and (b) who thought this was a good idea to change? I have no use for the camera, photo, or reminder options but I used the audio option several times a week! David
  9. I like to record a lot of voice memos. They're organized into Notebooks that are based on the relevant project that the recording is based on, and I organize the memos into finer sub-categories by dedicating a particular note to a specific sub-topic. So, I find myself coming back to the same note to make new recordings. But sometimes I encounter a very frustrating issue. I might accidentally press the backspace button, which causes Evernote to instantly delete one voice recording. I know that Evernote has a note history function, but this is a bit more complicated than what I'm looking for. Voice memos do not have memorable file names, so it just wastes my time to have to search through the list of old memos, and playing a tedious game of trial and error to figure out which audio recording was the one that I accidentally deleted. An undo button, to undo the accidental deletion, would be so much easier.
  10. I rarely use the direct-to-note audio recorder in Evernote because of it's lack of a Pause feature. When I choose to record an audio note, it's usually because I have too much to say to write it down. That being the case, I often want to pause to compose my thoughts as I go, but I can't do that in Evernote. (Well, I could do it, but it would mean long, empty spaces with no speech in my audio recordings, which are no good, either.) Instead, I end up using the built-in audio recorder on my Samsung phone, which creates files that are over 10 times larger than those created by the Evernote recorder. (Of course they are higher quality, as well, but for a voice note, that's not important.) You can see the file size difference from my 10-second test in the attached image. Implementation of this feature would benefit everyone, because we all want more compact file sizes, right? Thanks! ..........Curtis..........
  11. I transcribe my Evernote audio notes once a week from within Evernote, pressing play on the audio note and then transcribing right below. However, sometimes I need to pause the audio to catch up. Taking my hands off the keyboard to press 'Pause' with the mouse is extremely inconvenient and I cannot seem to find a keyboard shortcut to pause the audio. Is there a keyboard shortcut to pause Evernote Audio Notes on the Mac Evernote client?
  12. I use the free version of Evernote on my iPad. I have four months of audio recordings stored that I now realize are not synced. I do not want to lose these recordings. I tried using email but it does not work since it also gives me a sync error. What options do I have to get the content out of Evernote?
  13. It would be good if Evernote reindexes audio files especially audio recordings that are done in Evernote. For instance, when we attend meetings or lectures, we might need to review some content which we were not able to notate or transcribe. Therefore if Evernote is able to reindexes and make the audio file searchable, we can find the note with that keyword or phrase and the specific time it was said so we can playback from that point in the recording.
  14. I've created audio notes in EN before, but when I tried it tonight, it just brought me to the place where I typically create a text note. I recently uninstalled and reinstalled EN because Clipper and sync were acting wonky. Any suggestions? BTW, I'm running Sierra, 10.12.6 and EN, 6.12.3 Thanks in advance for any help you might give
  15. I made an audio recording in Evernote on my iPad, and when I stopped the recording, the file vanished. It's not in the trash, or in the note. Is there a temporary file folder, or any way to recover the recording?
  16. I have several recordings of lectures and meeting that I would like to either remove the useless banter, or a question period, or a late start to a meeting. Is there any way at present to edit or crop an Evernote audio note?
  17. I use evernote a lot to record and revise song ideas. Why does the audio/microphone function have such low quality? Could there at least be the option of recording at a higher quality. This feature is truly horrible.
  18. Hi Have long meeting at work to attend. Wish to record this, will use iphone on desk. Basically how long will i be able to record for ? 1 hour 2 hours? Understand that once recorded if file is less than 25 mb or 100 mb , normal version v premuim you will be able to sync... but how long would would this be for a meeting. Also if the file recorded was over this size and couldnt sync, how can i get it off phone. Thanks
  19. Hi there, I've recorded an audio note. When I go through my notes on my PC (Windows/Chrome) I cannot play the audio file straight from the note. When I click on it, it downloads the audio file and then I need to open it and play it with a different app on my PC. Is this real? Can't I l play the audio file straight from the user interface of the Evernote page? Just like on my Android app? I might be missing something OR there's something for you to work on... Regards!
  20. Hi! Can I create audio records in Evernote Web? Best regards Maxim
  21. Evernote allows you to record a meeting that you're in and take notes. But it doesn't sync the audio with the notes. So if I'm in a 2 hour meeting, and later realise that I was unclear about a certain point, I need to struggle through 2 hours of audio to listen to a 10 minutes section. Can Evernote make an update to the product to sync the text with the audio? Many note taking products do this, Notability being just one of them. If I need the section of audio, I just select the text that I was typing when that part of the conversation happened. This would allow me to rid myself of Notability, and just use Evernote for everything. Thanks, Jason
  22. Hi there, I have my Livescribe 3 Pen connected to both my ipad and iphone and take notes in meetings with audio. When I am syncing to Evernote the audio doesn't seem to be syncing. Pages are coming across fine. A notification on the evernote page appears "Download this PDF to your computer and go to www.livescribe.com/player". I was under the impression the audio synced to Evernote automatically?
  23. I just recorded an hour-long web seminar using the audio note feature. There was a lot of valuable info in there. I then stopped the recording and hit save, and then then nothing. Must be a bug because evernote didn't save my file for some reason. A few minutes later I tried recording a test audio note and it worked perfectly. I'm pretty upset that I lost seminar file, is there anywhere that Evernote caches audio files where I might be able to recover it?
  24. I'd love to be able to add an audio or video file to a note, and transcribe it while playing it. A keyboard shortcut could add the current timestamp to the transcription, after which I can type whatever I want. This timestamp should, when clicked, link to the position in the audio/video file, so I can quickly find it back.
  25. I did an audio interview yesterday that I recorded in Evernote. I've done this many times before, but this time the audio files seem to have just disappeared. The interview audio was in one file, and I also recorded a test that was very short-- neither are there now. This isn't a repeatable interview, so it would be really sad to lose it. I saw a note in a support doc that if I have basic, large files won't sync. If the file got deleted because I have Basic, why didn't it notify me that I needed to upgrade to keep the file? I would have done so. Now I just want to quit using Evernote!
