  1. Is there a way to archive old notebooks? Preferably they should still be searchable.
  2. I am a Premium member. I have a large .enex file (8.9 GB) that contains all my notes from a previous account over many years. It's very important to me. I exported the .enex from my old account a while ago, and Evernote was just fine letting me export all the notes into one large .enex file. Only now I'm trying to open that file in Evernote again to import all the notes, and I'm getting an error that says, "This action exceeds the 200MB limit. Please reduce the size of the file you're importing or upload fewer files at once." First of all, I was not aware that there was a 200MB limit. My account certainly should not have any limit, as I am a Premium member. Is this the limit for all uploads, or could there an error validating my Premium account? Second of all, if there is a limit (such as 200MB) to how much I can put into Evernote at once, then what am I supposed to do? As I said, my previous Evernote account allowed me to save the file at this size, and as far as I know there is no way to reduce the size or upload it in pieces. So how am I supposed to get my notes back?
  3. I would like to be able to keep some old notes but 'hide' them so they aren't included in searches, etc. Is there a way to do that? I have them all organized in notebooks under a specific stack that starts with "z ..." so I don't have to see them when I'm looking at my current notebooks. However, whenever I do searches or sort notes, they come up. There are a lot of them so I don't think I can export and then re-import when needed without going over the monthly data limit. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
  4. I have Evernote Premium. Sometimes I hit the send button and realize after the fact that my work chat has mistakes in it. I'd love to see a feature where we could edit it. The ability to archive work chats would be wonderful, too. Thanks for any consideration!
  5. When I am done with a project (like really done, not the false done before the other shoe drops) I would like to retain the notebook for future refrence, but not crowd my active list with old stuff. Can I create an "Archive" notebook (local only, not synched) and drop in other notebooks?
  6. to solve the problem of the archiving and show up the result as well the tags.and still have to see the old article in the web clipper or sear results. what I want like to put all note now into an archive and the start over all again. the but is, that I still need to have access to the notes in the archive. and if possible also have all tag move the the archive . the suggested way to do Thank you for contacting Evernote Customer Support. My name is Olegs and I will be happy to assist you today. I understand you would like to archive all of your current notes but still have access to them when you need to. 1.) At the moment the only way to archive/back up your notes/notebooks would be to export them out of Evernote as an Evernote XML (.enex) and then to import your ENEX (.enex) backup files to restore your notes and tags back into your Evernote account when you need to. For more information on how to back up (export) and restore (import) notes and notebooks [click here](https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557-How-to-back-up-export-and-restore-import-notes-and-notebooks). 2.) If the first option does not work for you, then the are few work arounds you can use to separate/archive your notes without exporting them out of Evernote. * Assign a Tag of "Archive" to ALL notes you would like to archive and don't want to include in Searches (use search term "-tag:Archive" to any search you want to EXCLUDE those OLD Notes-tag:archive). * Move ALL Notes to a Notebook, or Stack, named "Archive" (for example). the result of option that is the closed Option not work still see the old article and tag. The actual request is to make is possible as requested not see the old article and tag ones they are in the archive. it wanted can see by selecting the option to search in the archive as well t hen atou als soo the tags forr mthe arichve. so you can use evernote more efficient and still have access to the old stored in fmration.
  7. Hi everyone! First of all, Evernote it's a great and helpfull app. Thanks for that. I don't know if anyone suggested this before, but, it would be great if we had an option to "archive" old notes. I mean, with the pass of time, more and more notes accumulate. I erase some of them, but I would like to keep others saved, just in case, but not in the main menu. I think it would be very helpfull, to keep everything more organized. And not a very difficult option to add. Well, that's all!
  8. I went to this link, and it says "go to file" but I don't have "file" (only Macs do) see photo help!
  9. Hello! I am so unbelievably frustrated! I recently got a Sky Wifi Smartpen and it is neccesary to use EN to support it. I am a student, and after my class I archived my notebook and now I can't upload or synch any notes online? Is my notebook archived for good and I can never add anything to it ever again? Ive read I can't get old information back onto the pen but can I add new information to these notebooks? I connect to wifi, I go to archive it and it says I have already used this paper product and the archive fails. PLEASE BE POLITE!
  10. I have about 2,000 notes in Evernote, and many of them are for old consulting clients. I don't want to lose the notes entirely, but I also don't need them cluttering up my screen. Is there a way to make notes Hidden? Or a way that I can Archive some notes to a new file (like one does with Outlook) thereby preserving them for future reference but getting them out of my main file? Surely others have dealt with this before. What is the best practice for handling this? Or should I create another account and move the old notes over there?
  11. I'm beginning to be a bit concerned about the amount of data I have in Penultimate. Is there any archiving of old notebooks? Obviously, they are sitting on Evernote anyway, so do I really need to store everything on my iPad?
  12. I've been an Evernote user for about a year but never actively used it. Today I thought about how I keep Moleskine journals to document my life and how useful it would be to have all my journals archived with Evernote. It's a tedious process, I could either transcribe everything or take advantage of the document camera feature with the Evernote app. I chose the easier route and started snapping photos of each page of my very first journal. Has anyone else archived their journals using Evernote? If so do you have any tips? I'm kind of worried about the limit of how many notebooks and notes you can have but hopefully that'll increase before I ever get to that many notes.
  13. ***I invite all to respond to this, but please limit responses to votes either agreeing with these requests, links to the solutions to the requests, or directions to find either the direct answers or very good work arounds. The very reason I am writing this post verses finding this info in other past posts, I fear, is because there's so much aimless chatter going on.*** Hi all - Here are some feature requests that I find myself looking for / needing almost daily. This is going to sound like me complaining a lot, so let me say this upfront. I friggin love Evernote. I am a premium user that uses Evernote every day almost all day. It has quickly taken over any other program that I have on my computer as my "go-to" for almost everything. It's AMAZING. There, I like it, let's improve it. Requests in no specific order: Feature Request Voting If we could vote on proposed features to be included in upcoming releases (final decision obviously up to the Evernote Gods) I dare say that we may end up with a much more user friendly service verses a bunch of rarely used secondary apps. Don't get me wrong, love some of the secondary apps…but as Spock would say, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." And I'm sure it's driven by $$$ and the need to attract new users, but how about we take the least used iOS app, kill it, and put that effort into improvements that include some basic needs Mark as Read This just seems like a no brainer to me Assign colors to notes Kinda like categories in Outlook. Maybe come up with some default category colors but let us customize those or add our own custom colors. Picture it, a notebook with 60 notes in it…all the red notes are involving accounting, blue notes are notes from client meetings, orange notes are general reference, etc, etc, etc. This would be HEAVEN. Archive Maybe an archive feature that allows you to EASILY & QUICKLY include or exclude its contents from the search features. I get TONS of irrelevant search results now because I have so many old notes that have no point….until one of my clients calls and needs me to pull something out of thin air while they're on the phone with me….and that very same client is about to give me my next project that will feed me for the next 6 months. Duplicate I know you can do the linking thing, but SOMETIMES you just need to copy/paste an actual note verses make a link. Haven't researched this fully, maybe there's a way that I am just overlooking. But if I'm overlooking it, maybe it needs to be more obvious. Undo I know that we have the back arrow, but I recently discovered that it really does only take you back. The scenario was when I accidentally dropped a note into one of about 20 notebooks that each had about 60 notes in them. And the worst part, I wasn't exactly sure what the note was titled & I hadn't added tags or anything. That's just one example…it may be rare, but there are 100 other weird little examples. iOS Safari Clipper (shhh, I know there's another forum…but if you use Evernote for Mac, chances are you use it on your friggin iPhone) This hasn't always been an issue - I created a bookmarklet in mobile safari that usually works well to clip mobile sites easily into evernote. Problem is that it has started coming up too large for the screen & will not resize. I've figured out that you can tap in one of the other fields & it will give you a "go" button that processes the clip, but then I have to go fill in all the info that is needed in the actual evernote app. There needs to be an official way to clip from another mobile browser that works well, period. OK, done with the soap box. Next up please? Toodles, Dylan
  14. Hey would it be possible to implement an "Archive" feature for Evernote notebooks? There are several that I would like to hold onto just in case, though perhaps just for nostalgia, but I simply do not want to look at them when I'm going through more active notebooks. An alternative would be a more customizable way to organize notebooks themselves. Either of these would be awesome. Finally, I pay for this, why the hell do I have a post limitation? That's absurd.
  15. Your tagging system is crucial and here is how Evernote could improve it: Evernote must implement something fully featured like this:http://handytag.elitwork.com/home.htmlhttps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/handytag Explanation from me (and the Firefox add-on author):It makes bookmark tagging easier, by simply providing a complete set of most relevant keywords. These keywords are retrieved from many different sources :the tags you already gave to one of your actual bookmarks.the keywords the webmaster gave to his webpage.the tags given by del.icio.us users for the same page.the tags the keyword extractor found using KGen (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4788).and finally synonyms for the above found keywords. You no longer would need to make a brainstorming session each time you want to add a new bookmark. It will do it for you! Please forward this feature request to Evernote. If this becomes part of Evernote I will move my complete bookmarking system from a certain competitor over to Evernote and become a Premium member. I'd be happy about a short reply. Thanks!
  16. Hello everyone, I've been trying to solve this problem myself unsuccessfully so i'd appreciate any help very much! I restored my mac osx 10.6.8 entirely and i've been told at the genius bar, that by using time machine (as I do) I should be able to restore all my data. So far so good. But now that I need to use evernote (you do not quiet realise how much stuff you have to reinstall/ setup again until you do...) I am facing a problem. In the EN export/ import directory it says that either backing up using TM or exporting notes into an archive would do. As I was not aware that i would have to do any of this so safe my data I was glad I am actually used to using TM. So I got the data folder from ~users/library... and c+p it into the current evernote folder. Actually following the steps in the manual I now have to open EN to archive those notebooks I just c+p. Seeing the flaw in there? It might work if I archive the notebooks before c+p them but this way they either do not show up at all or evernote keeps crashing when trying to open it up. So are my notebooks lost or is there another/ a way of restoring my notebooks? P.S. I never signed in with EN when opening the application, so there is no chance of an online version of my notebooks. To clear things up: I have never exported my notebooks into an archive, I only have my time machine ~users/library/application support/evernote/data (.enml files) Sorry for my limited english, it is not my first language
