  1. Work chat would be far more functional and collaborative if chats could be tied to specific notebooks. We work collaboratively on multiple notebooks and the general work chat feature is chaotic and counterproductive for true collaboration. I would imagine that it would only take some minor tweaking by the developer to modify an existing function into a more efficient capability. It would be nice to hear that this is something in progress.......
  2. I have Evernote premium and so does my colleague. I have been trying to invite him to 2 different notebooks however he doesn't even get notified that I have invited him. It comes up as a work chat sent on my side but on his there's nothing. I have sent numerous invites and as well as just plain random chats within work chat but nothing gets through to him. He also doesn't get an email to notify him. We've checked the email address is correct, tried reinstalling the app and logging in on different devices (PCs and iOS) but nothing is making it work... help??
  3. Downloaded 'Slack' yesterday, an app that went public this past February (2014) and already has a valuation of over a billion. See this for reference/context: http://www.cnbc.com/id/102138343#. Has anyone experimented with it? Would love to hear your thoughts. I've only been toying w/ Slack for a day or so, but here are my thoughts regarding when I think I'll use EN Work Chat vs. when I think I'll use Slack -- EN WORK CHAT -- Share notes from a call that happened. Share a written work (outline, synopsis, short story, etc). Share meeting notes. No desire to engage in small talk with colleagues... only feel like it's there for me to 'share' a written work / notes " ". SLACK -- Discuss a project's next steps w/ team or colleague. Desire to engage in office gossip / small talk / sharing funny pictures, etc. More social-feeling than EN work-chat, which has more of a work or die feel. Conclusion: I don't feel like one app replaces the other, and I'll enjoy using both. Would love others' thoughts...
  4. Hi Evernote Community – I have recently persuaded a colleague to download Evernote on his Windows machine. My Premium Account Evernote is installed on a MacBook... Each time I initiate a Chat, he never receives my messages. Not even any items that I share with him. When he initiates, I receive the message listed as 'An Evernote User'. Could you help please? Many thanks!
  5. I can no longer access any work chats prior to Jan 1st of this year. Please help.
  6. I've tried entering in the account email address and Evernote email addresses and the recipient does not receive an email invitation. I've tried sending a message, sharing a note from my primary notebook, moving the note to a shared notebook and sharing the notebook, and sharing the note from that same shared notebook. I'm not sure what I'm missing to get this working. I'm primarily using the Android app (which is up to date) for my Evernote usage. Thanks!
  7. Hi! Workchat isn't picking my profile picture both on my end and the other end. It only shows a gray icon. Profile picture has been setup correctly in my account. Fokke
  8. This is in General Discussions because it affects both EN Web (new version) and EN Windows 5.9.3 - plus email, Work Chat, Basic and Premium. Long story short, I needed a new Basic account because I planned a public share for some specific information, and wanted it 'branded' in a particular way. Set that up via Evernote.com, but obviously didn't download any software because I already have my main Premium account and a couple of others installed on the one machine. I know I can switch between accounts pretty easily, but I need to create some notes in premium and copy to the other account, so it would be easier (I thought) to share at least one notebook from basic to premium. I duly set up share for one notebook and sent the invite to the email address connected to the premium account. I've done this before (though not recently) and it worked fine. So I switched back to the main account and waited for the email or a Share notification. Nothing. I waited some more. Nada. Checked spam folders, other email addresses and the premium account. Nil and Zero. Hmmn. Maybe I screwed up. Back to the web account, unshare the notebook (yes, the email address was correct) and try again. Waiting... and now it's lunch time. Went away for an hour. Came back. See various checks above - nothing, nada, nil and zero. Perhaps 'share' isn't working from the web (new version) account. Can't be bothered to switch back and try again, so I switched from premium to basic on the computer*. Unshared and shared again from there. Still nothing after another hour of checking. (* Since I'm on both ends of this share I can set up the new account without any problems.) OK I didn't need the invite anyway since I'm controlling both sides of this - but it would be nice to know what happened. There's nothing in my Activity log on the premium account about the share or any chat invites. However: View > Work Chat shows all of the Share messages of which I had no notifications at all. I know email invites don't get issued for the 2nd share, but first time around I didn't get any emails from this brand new account, and in no case did I get any alerts from the application. So. I'm set up and working now, but Work Chat as it applies to sharing notebooks seems to be a bit broken. If you're sharing with someone it would be a good idea to ask them (by separate email) to check the Work Chat window if they don't receive any notification - they'll likely find the invite there. Feature request: More bells and whistles (literally!) when a share invitation is received. And please fix this!
  9. When I try and chat a note to my wife, it says I can't chat with myself. My wife used to not have her own account so I would sign into my account on her Android phone and I'm thinking that this is what caused the problem. Now she has her own account which she is signed into, but I can't work chat notes to her by typing in the email address associated with her Evernote account. This bug only occurs on my Nexus 6 running the latest version of Evernote and on the Web App (Beta). The Windows application works fine and we can chat. I can trick it by entering HerEmail+whatever@gmail.com since Gmail will still route it to her email and ignores the +whatever, but I would still like to figure this out.
  10. Work Chat lets you discuss your work with the individuals that will help you get it done, right in Evernote. Share notes and notebooks, exchange ideas, and get feedback from colleagues in an instant. You can share and collaborate with as many, or as few, people as you like. The notes and notebooks that you reference will show up in the chats so that they’re easy to open and find. To make all of this work beautifully, we’ve enabled read/write sharing of single notes and opened read/write notebook sharing to all users. Plus, when you email a note to someone, it’ll show up in Work Chat so you have an permanent communication history. When we decided to introduce the concept of ‘people’ into Evernote, we knew that the best decisions come from a combination of communication and awareness—an ambient knowledge of what your team is working on. It’s like popping your head over your monitor to ask what your neighbor is up to. There’s an important connection built through knowing what others are working on. That’s how it is in real life, so that’s how it should be in Evernote. Soon, you’ll notice that shared notes and notes will show the faces of your teammates. These faces indicate that the individuals are actively engaged with the content that you both have access to. The fascinating aspect of this feature is that it’s not just happening within the note that you’re currently viewing. You’ll see these images in your note and notebook lists. This tells you that a colleague is working on something even if you’re not looking at it. All of a sudden, you have a reason to start a conversation in Work Chat or review what they’re adding. All without ever leaving your workspace. Coming soon This is a major new step in Evernote’s development. We’ve spent years building a great product for individuals, and in November we’re adding a truly collaborative, social component that will improve the quality of your work. Work Chat is coming soon to all major desktop, web, mobile, and tablet versions of Evernote. Stay tuned at the Evernote blog!
  11. Hi all, Since the work chat has been introduced I am a little totally confused with the sharing feature. Many of my notebooks are shared with individuals. Formerly I could manage them all in the Permissions sheet. Now I open the permission sheet and after a click on "Share Notebook…" it disappears and the work chat windows opens. This is where I get lost! Do I start now chatting with a new person? Where came all the contacts in the list from? Do I have to start at the top of the window or just enter a new name at the bottom of the window? Even I have shared now 5-10 new people since the feature was introduced, I can't memorize that! To Evernote: I now, you're working very hard to improve your tool. But combining these two features is not that natural that you may thought first. Please fix that! Thanks Frank
  12. I go to sign in to the Work Chat and choose the Google contacts. I then log into my Google account and the screen pops up for one second that has the allow button then all of evernote crashes and I have to re-open the program.

  14. I recently set up my Evernote account but for some reason I'm unable to receive notebooks from anyone. The work chats part of it works fine and I've tried getting notebooks from multiple other users. They just come through in work chats. Any suggestions?
  15. As the subject line says, I can't find where to create/access a Work Chat from within the Android app. All the guides say "Tap ‘Work Chat’ from the side menu", but my app doesn't even have a side menu. There are no customary 3 bars on the left beside the "Evernote" title. I've checked every sub-menu, screen, icon.... there's no Work Chat, nor any speech bubble icons. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  16. When someone shares a note with me using chat, I receive a notification in Evernote with a link. Clicking on the link shows me the note. Question: Where does this note live? I can't find it in any of my notebooks. Where is it? I would have thought it would be in my default notebook, but no. Anybody help please?
  17. Hola como están, les pregunto, tengo la app para android de evernote instalada en una tablet y no encuentro la opción de work chat por ningún lado, esta opción sí aparece en la versión de escritorio de windows. la pregunta es si la version para android no trae work chat ? Muchas gracias.
  18. I have a note that I share with four people. At the top of the note it indicates "You are editing a note that is shared with 4 people". I can click on the "4 people" hyperlink and see the individuals that are sharing the note (screenshot attached). Ultimately, I am trying to change who I am sharing this note with. However, when I go to Permissions, I get an error message: "Can't open permissions. Nothing to see here! Permissions control view and edit access for shared notes, but this note isn't shared with anyone". It's shared, but I can't remove the people that it's shared with because it doesn't recognize the note as being shared. And I have confirmed with the four individuals that it is shared with that they are seeing the updates to the note, so they definitely are sharing the note. All I want to do is remove all sharing from this (and other) notes but it is not recognizing that the notes are shared. This is happening with all of my shared notes, unfortunately. Ever since this "Work Chat" feature was implemented, this has been broken. Very frustrating.
  19. Hi, I have Evernote on my iphone, and work chat works fine. But when using Windows Desktop app version 5.8.3.6507, work chat does not work at all, i.e. i don't receive any messages (i can send), and it doesn't sync up with existing chats on my iphone. When i first downloaded the desktop version it did work, but a later re-install now means it doesn't. Any ideas?? Also, it would be great, once working, to be able to enable or disable chat notification pop ups, sometimes if presenting, it can be really bad to have a pop up showing a message not meant for general viewing. Thanks Rob
  20. I'm trying to share a notebook via workchat with another Evernote user (one who I had successfully shared notebooks before prior to workchat). When I start the chat to share the notebook, they never get notification of the chat nor any email notification that a chat has started. If they start the chat, I get a notification from a number (not an email address or a name). The other person only uses Windows and the web interface. I'm unsure where my request is going, but they definitely aren't receiving it. I have a premium account, they have a free account. As an aside, I really don't know what its become so involved to simply share a notebook via workchat. Used to be so easy.
  21. I used to be able to send a copy of a note to an email address. Following the last Android update, this feature appears to be gone. Selecting the menu item "Send to e-mail address" simply initiates a Chat, sending a link to the note, rather than a full copy of the note, to the email address entered. So basically the "Send to e-mail address" and the "Share" menu items now seem to do exactly the same thing. Has this feature gone away or am I doing something wrong?
  22. I'm trying to share notes and notebooks with friend but non shows up in his chat. nothing also showed in my chat when he sent note to me. I'm following every step from tutorial but cant seem to get it to work. I sent him first notes 3 days ago so my and his Evernote app had time to sync with servers.
  23. I love evernote, and have been using it for the past 6 months as my primary place for organizing and taking notes at work. I also converted a number of colleagues to use evernote. The recent change in evernote that prevents me from sharing my notes via email has created a dead stop in my ability to collaborate with the tool. Now, either everyone I work with needs to use evernote, or it's not useful. So frustrating. Please bring back the email note function!!!! In the meantime, I am moving over to breeze+google drive as my new collaboration tool set....
  24. My manager has shared a notebook with me using the Work Chat function. I can access the note when I click on her message in the Work Chat section of Evernote. However, I was under the impression that once I opened it, it would then appear as one of my Notebooks, and this doesn't seem to be happening. I'm relatively new to Evernote, so not sure if there is an extra step I'm missing or if I just don't understand how it works. I've tried searching for the answer, but mostly just see the steps needed to actually share the workbook vs. what needs to be done by the recipient. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
  25. In the spirit of all the negative sentiments expressed on the Mac forum, https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/73743-how-to-turn-off-work-chat/ I would like to reiterate the same request here, with the aggravation that I'm running EN on a Samsung phone. To see the HUGE Work Chat icon right next to the search icon, and to have the Work Chat feature rammed down my throat ABOVE All Notes is EXTREMELY IRRITATING. What makes you think that I'll even use this feature? Thank you.
