  1. Hi, I just upgraded Evernote to the latest version on my laptop (Win10): evernote 6.11.2.7027 (307027) Public (CE Build ce-43.0.4829). Now the note panel is black, impossible to read any note, but they appear in the middle panel (note list). I still can access my notes on my iphone, but what's wrong !!! I tried to uninstall and install again, still ko As suggested in another post, the checkbox "allow beta version" doesn't change the behavior. Please help, regards
  2. If I use emoji in notes entered on Android or iOS, they show up fine. But when synced to Windows, they show up as a unicode code instead like &128197; It'd great if this would be supported on Windows... either by providing instructions on what I'd need to do to enable native Windows support for it (I'm on Windows 7) or by bundling/including your own emoji font in the client.
  3. Today we released Windows 6.18 beta 2. It's available here! What’s in 6.18 beta 2? New: Shortcut Keys: FindInEvernote: Ctrl+Shift+F CaptureScreen: Ctrl+Alt+S CopySelection: Ctrl+Shift+Alt+A Fixed: Security update Print window appears when viewing note that contains clipped PDF Selecting "business notebook" from "All notes" dropdown switches to Personal side in Legacy Business accounts Notes are not saved locally after premium user reached monthly upload limit Unable to open new note window if users save a note as template then invoke Template Gallery
  4. I would like to use Evernote to create checklists and project plans. Being able to have nested/indented checkboxes and nested/indented numbering would be ideal. For example, allowing numbering at all levels, e.g.: 1. a. b. 2. ...etc... Allowing checkboxes to be indented would be very useful as well For example, with [] substituting for the Evernote checkbox: [] [] [] [] I think this functionality could be easily implemented. Obviously full outlining functionality, as popularly requested in another thread here, would be ideal, but this functionality is simple and would suffice in the meantime. Thanks, Erik
  5. How do you create a saved search for a note that uses unsearchable characters for the title? I suppose I could create a tag for just such a note to use as a saved search, but I was hoping for some way of using the note link. Barring that, I guess a special tag is currently the best available option. Changing the title and using special keywords in the body are a bit impractical for my use case in frequently changing notes. I currently use shortcuts for this, but I tend to use saved searches to save space on the shortcut bar, and during particularly heavy sessions I remove all shortcuts except the ones I am currently working with, hence the additional need to backup and restore my regular shortcuts as saved searches. It's an organizing issue, not really a big deal, just hoping for clues other than what I already mentioned. (Yes, I do use Dashboards notes with links, and table of contents, just hoping to work with saved searches.) (Platform options include Windows, Android & iOS, if that matters).
  6. In Preferences allow users to define their own date formats, or include every imaginable format. I use yyyy-mm-dd extensively and would love to make it my default date format.
  7. Hi, I'd like to propose a feature for all Evernote platforms: Let us toggle a read-only attribute on notes. Let me explain why: I use Evernote to keep lists of customers, email addresses, etc. and other stuff that rarely needs to be changed. Sometimes, I will highlight those bits of text to copy/paste into another window. However, I occasionally hit a key on the keyboard which replaces all of the highlighted text in the note. If I don't notice this, the changes get synced and I lose the data that used to be there (admittedly my own mistake). If you could right-click on notes and toggle a read-only checkbox or something similar, that would make Evernote much more robust for storing things that you never want to accidentally change like doctor info, email addresses of friends, or whatever. Also, if you think about how many things you clip/copy/paste into a note that never again need to be edited, it just makes sense to be able to lock the content to prevent edits. Overall, I think a read-only feature would make Evernote even more useful for storing long-term info. Thanks!
  8. Hi This morning got this message on EN for PC (Win 10 64bit): Could not open Evernote database in "C:\Users\xxxx\Evernote\Databases\XXXXX.exb Error: CANT_OPEN_DATABASE Please verify that the path is accessible and try again I've uninstalled and tried reinstalling twice but still get the same error. and I can't even move / rename / delete the .exb file as it says: EN is Installed on Samsung SSD , SMART tests all ok. Tried stopping all processes, multiple restarts doesn't help. Will try to chdsk now? [On a side-note: I've been using the Windows Experimental preview v.1.2.296 (that i had installed but had to update) as a back up but unfortunately it's missing several features that make life easier for me and that i'm used to.] How to fix / delete / rename / move / redownload the .exb file please? Please advise urgently as I have a severe case of notetaking OCD and need things up and running asap please. Thank you
  9. Dear Evernote team , I 've been a few years of intensive Evernote users in the private and professional spheres . I work for half a year with a Surface Pro 4 and do not want to miss it . However, unfortunately, very important aspect bothers me tremendously and drove me almost to Onenote : noting the miserable ways handwritten or draw in the Windows version of Evernote . Evernote Touch offers grotesquely no (Surface ) Pen support . The iOS version has indeed integrated drawing function and Penultimate . Is something equivalent for the Windows desktop version plans or ever has in mind ? I need practical advice on how I could solve by other apps by this problem. Greetings, Alex Greetings Alex
  10. Many of us use special characters at the beginning of tags to sort them and easily call groups of tags, but some of them which work in tags, have no effect whatsoever in sorting. It would be more convenient if they did sort since they are more conveniently located in the keyboard than others which could replace them, and their small size is more appealing than larger characters. So far they are the following: " ' - there maybe others.
  11. Recently I am Selecting pictures from my desktop and pasting them into a note. When the images are posted into the note they show up upside down. I have attempted to Select all the images and rotate them clockwise. When I do this, only the one that I can see to rotate actually gets rotated. All the other images in the note are deleted. So two issues 1. Evernote should not take an image in the first place and flip it upside down. 2. When I select multiple images in a note and rotate them all. it should not delete the ones within the note I cannot see. If you have any questions to clarify this issue let me know.
  12. I'm running Evernote for Windows v5.9.6.9494 and have recently started using the "Encrypt Selected Text" function. When writing inside an encrypted text block, I find that I get repeatedly kicked out of it (approximately every couple of minutes, but the timing seems to be random). In mid-flow, the encrypted area will close and the caret will be positioned back at the beginning of the document. This seems to happen whenever the note is marked for update with the blue update flag. At that point I have to remove any text that might have been typed outside the area, open it up again, find my position again and carry on typing from where I left off. As you can imagine that's annoying almost to the point of making the feature unusable, so I'm hoping there's a fix in the pipeline or some workaround. Any ideas?
  13. How can I type math equations in Evernote without latex, eat.tags, and macrio. Thanks.
  14. Last night I noticed that the number of notes I have across different devices do not match. I don't have any local notebooks, all synced across all devices. My work iPhone showed 10,918 notes while my personal iPhone showed the correct number of notes at 11,044. My iMac Evernote app showed 10,979 while online Evernote showed the correct 11,044 notes which is also correct on my work PC and my home PC. I sometimes notice a note missing from one device, but I wasn't aware of this kind of discrepancy especially on my iMac and work iPhone. Screenshots are taken after a sync to make sure everything was up to date. Any ideas?
  15. There needs to be a security pin that locks Evernote from being accessed by strangers. If someone loses or gets their laptop stolen, all the notes are there for the picking. A security pin is the least we would need to put up a barrier. It would also be great if we could remove the laptop from accessible devices and make it trigger a deletion of all the data from the laptop before it can be accessed. Right now, it just stops anyone from syncing the account, but all data is still there to view. Thanks, Glenn
  16. In many MS applications (e.g. PPT, Word, Outlook) there is a short cut to move a bullet within a list of bullets quickly up/down in order to change the order of bullets. It's as simple as selecting a bullet and then hitting either Shift+Alt+Up arrow or Shift+Alt+Down arrow to move the bullet above or below the upper or lower adjacent bullet. Why would this be a great feature for Evernote: I think many people use it to store things in lists, for example todo lists, and it facilitates exactly that in a great way. Curious to learn what others think about this.
  17. Hello, I have a stacked hierarchy of tags on the left panel which I keep displayed during the week, but on weekends I hide most of them under another stack so I can focus on other things, then on Mondays I right click on each hidden stack and click "Move to Top Level" so that I can have my usual hierarchy for the work week. The problem is that "Move to Top Level" is dangerously close to "Unassign from All Notes". One wrong click and I lose the tags for thousands of notes without warning (even Note History would be no help in such a scenario) Since Unassign is a necessary function, I am asking for a confirmation step before taking action, preferably with a check box in Options for those who do not require this. Either that, or at least assign "Move to Top Level" to a different, safer location in the right click menu. It makes sense to me that anything involving the mass altering of thousands of notes should have a confirmation warning, when deleting or removing them at least.
  18. A text box feature would go a long way in improving space efficiency of notes and would make notes look better formatted. Please see the attached image. The space on the top right corner is now unusable; a text box feature is badly needed in such scenarios to completely utilise the space beside an image. Please for the love of god provide it in an update in the near future. .
  19. Resizing images works great in EN - it would be nice if I could select many images at once and have a resize apply to all of them. As far as I can tell, it is only possible to resize images one at a time.
  20. I downloaded evernote for my laptop which is running Windows 10 64-bit. I can't access my notes and see a black screen-like thing whenever I open one. Like this. Is there a way to fix this? I can't install 32-bit since someone else installed the 64-bit windows 10 for me and they are too far away.
  21. Hello developers, I'm running Evernote 4.5 under windows 7 with outlook 2010. I'm really trying to be nice here, but how to completely remove the f**king outlook add-in of Evernote? I understand you guys want your software prevail everywhere but please this is just a notebook app. If there's no way to do it, I'll have to uninstall it. Thank you.
  22. I frequently use Evernote to store snippets of code. The spell check feature marks variable names, function names, method and property names, etc., making it difficult to read. Is there a way to turn off spell check for just that note? Thanks.
  23. If this was always there, I never noticed until after upgrading to 6.18 beta 2. I cannot get rid of a super long "file://drive\folder\etc . . ." thingy, I usually delete those after copying and pasting from a file rather than attaching them. Click and right clicking doesn't work, and the click pull down menu next to tags is inaccessible.
  24. Call it "wrap text", call it "image free-placement", call it whatever, this is the single most frustrating thing with Evernote. As a user for 5 years (most of which premium), I feel like I'm entitled to say that! OneNote makes it so easy to organize and annotate screenshots/images. Take a look at the screenshot of the user post in the link below. Looks like pretty simple (and NEAT) formatting but in Evernote it's not possible without editing in MS word first. https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/94635-formatting-text-around-an-image/?do=findComment&comment=469733 For 5+ years we've been told the "workaround" (acknowledgement that it's a problem) is to create note in MS word, or create a table and then copy/paste the images into the table. Please fix this problem.
  25. I rather assumed this was yet another scaling issue introduced with a recent Windows update - but the usual approaches around compatibility settings don't seem to make any difference. The screenshot refers - this was captured from a 1920x1080 monitor, set to 100% scaling, one of two which I use. I also have a third 2560x1440 monitor, also set to 100%, which has the same issue, although it doesn't look quite so bad, because smaller! The blue font used in the note title, and the fonts in the note-previews are all fragmented and blurry - the note text is OK. This would make more sense to me as an issue if the monitors were set to scale the display - but they're not, all run at 100% (I have pretty good eyesight!)
