  1. I have reported corruption of encrypted data before, but I didn't know the cause, now I do: When double clicking on encrypted text, if the mouse moves slightly, resulting in accidentally dragging the encrypted icon, the icon will become permanent and the encrypted data will be lost, decryption will no longer be accesible. This is repeatable, and I believe it is not version dependent since I have seen it before, though I have the latest version. This is a big problem for those of us who don't have note history (Plus & free accounts).
  2. I use Evernote premium with Windows 10. I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for years. However, it is extremely frustrating when you create a new note and Evernote will only let you dictate in the title box. When you move to the actual content area and start dictating, the DragonPad comes up forcing you to dictate and then transfer. If anyone is currently feeling this pain and has found a workaround or solution please share.
  3. Today we released Windows 6.20 GA. It's available here! New: *Improved automated file splitting Fixed: *Links to Google Drive documents created in Evernote Windows 6.19 now work in Evernote Web *Attachments created through notes in a separate window now save properly *Images copied from Chrome via "Copy image" paste as broken attachment
  4. As far as I know, the only way to access the Reminders function (i.e., accessing the Reminders menu to add a reminder, or a reminder date, or clear a reminder) in the Windows app is via mouse. Providing a method to access this function via a shortkey (similar to F3 to access the tags field) would allow for much quicker note entry or reminder date editing. At the very least, an ability to access Reminders via keystrokes would be a big improvement even without a designated shortcut as users could use hotkey apps to create their own shortcut. Keyboard access to Reminders is especially useful for those who use EN not just as an information filing cabinet, but also as a task manager (GTD / TSW and derivatives) (thereby eliminating the need for a second app to provide task mgmt).
  5. I recently opened my Evernote, and my evernote shows that I have 6 notes in one of the notebook folders. However when i click on the folder it only shows one note and not the list of notes in the folder. What am I doing wrong?! Many thanks. Phill
  6. Hey everyone, This is P.J. from the Product Team at Evernote. I wanted to take a moment to tell you about a project that we've been working on for quite a while. As some of you may have noticed, the note editor changed in the Windows 5.9 release. Though it introduced a relatively small number of new features, it represents a larger body of work that will significantly improve note editing in Evernote. Years of writing the editors of our clients independently of one another has taken a toll on the the consistency and quality of Evernote’s editing experience. We recognize this and we’re fully committed to making it better. We’ve created a dedicated team focused on improving the note editor and we’re hoping you notice the difference. In the coming weeks and months, you’ll start to see the fruits of this labor appear in all of the things you do to create notes in Evernote—typing, bullets and lists, tables, images, copy and pasting are just a few of the things we’ll be working on to start. Bigger improvements will follow. For more on the thinking behind this project, check out this blog post. We can’t promise to get everything right the first time, but we can promise to listen to your feedback and work tirelessly to make every version of Evernote’s editor better than the last. If you have feedback on the editor, we’re here to listen. Feel free to comment on this thread or DM me. Thanks!
  7. I want to install on my SSD, D:\, not my NVME, C:\. How can I do this? Thanks!
  8. I frequently need to insert card symbols into my notes, namely Club, Diamond, Heart, Spade symbols. I currently have to copy and paste images of these symbols from another document. Is there a way to assign these symbols to special keyboard sequences or function keys? That would be a great help for me.
  9. I share two notebooks with my husband and he has 40+ tags. I'd like to be able to hide his tags in my tag list so they aren't mixed with mine.
  10. Zooming with ctrl + mouse wheel was working very well (was requested, and then implemented - see the bottom of this discussion): I've been away from Evernote for a few weeks and I have just notices that in the latest Beta that I have running, using the mouse wheel for zooming no longer works. Wanted to make sure that I am not the only one seeing this, and ask if Evernote is planning to fix this? Is zoom still working as before in the latest non-beta relase? Im on windows 7 if that makes any difference. Thanks
  11. [I sent this out via Evernote Support on May 4th and besides a computer-generated email response saying "we got your support request and we'll be in touch with you", Evernote Support (and I am a Premium paying customer) has been silent for 4 days]: We are back to square one: months ago I complained about the terrible, sluggish performance of Evernote when typing a note. The next update of Evernote cleared out the issue. Everything wonderfully well after that corrective update. Unfortunately, the latest update, "version 6.5.4.4720 (304720) Public" which was I installed about 2-3 weeks ago is terrible. We are back to the problem I had earlier: when typing in a note VERY sluggish performance. It's like I'm typing through molasses. This is happening on this, my personal Evernote Premium account, on a Windows 10 PC AND a separate work account (another Evernote Premium account), on a Windows 7 Pro PC. So, clearly, the problem is NOT my computer. It IS your software. PLEASE fix this! It is ruining my productivity. Thank you. Please stop releasing buggy updates that ruin perfectly well functioning software! Your Quality Control department needs to do a much better job of vetting updates to make sure you are not deploying buggy software!
  12. For Valentine's day, I'm offering up a simple Windows PowerShell script that you can use to backup your Evenote notes. It uses the Evernote auxiliary program, ENScript.exe, to export Evernote notebooks to respective Evenote format (.ENEX) files. The script is very dumb. You'll need to change the script to specify a backup directory location where the backups will land. You may need to change the script to specify the location of ENScript.exe. The script will create a new directory in that location with a name that's based on the current date, and write the .ENEX files in that directory. There will be a .ENEX file for each notebook (which is what you want, because notebook name is not stored in a .ENEX file, so if you need to restore you can get the source notebook from the .ENEX filename). Note: I am not a PowerShell expert, and while I've tested the script, it may not be particularly robust in the face of errors. In normal use it appears to work, but use it at your own risk. This script comes with a no-money-back guarantee. Oh, and feel free to modify it for your own use, or offer changes / suggestions / comments. I may or may not respond. You'll notice I have a list of Todos in the script. I may or may not deliver on those either. You may need to change your execution policy to let this script operate properly. The command I used was: "Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned". In addition, you may want to make a Windows shortcut for the script. You'll need to search the web for that, but it can be done. Take the following code and save it as a PowerShell script file Ii.e., with an extension ".PS1") somewhere that PowerShell can find it. I called mine "ENBackup.PS1". Creative, no? # Simple Evernote backup PowerShell Script # # Backs up all notebooks in your account as .enex files, located in a designated # directory. The backup directory name is generated by a base name with the # current date (mm-dd-yy) appended. # # Todo: # * Specify backup directory base via command-line # * Backup single notebook specified via command-line # * Restore notebook # You may need to modify this according to the location of ENScript.exe $ENscript = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\ENScript.exe" # Modify backup directory base as desired $BackupLocation = "J:\Backups\Evernote\" # Write out notebook names to a temporary file, one line at a time $tempfile = "notebooks.txt" & $ENscript listNotebooks >$tempfile $reader = [System.IO.File]::OpenText($tempfile) # Create a backup directory for this date # Get current date (mm-dd-yy) and append it to the backup directory base $date = get-date -uformat "%m-%d-%y" $BackupDir = $BackupLocation + "Backup " + $date # Make the actual backup directory if ( ! (Test-Path $BackupDir) ) { md $BackupDir } # Process notebook names try { for( ; ; ) { # fetch a notebook name $name = $reader.ReadLine() if ($name -eq $null) { break } # write out the backup file for this notebook: <notebook name>.enex "Backing up " + $name + "..." $BackupFileName = $BackupDir + "\" + $name + ".enex" & $ENscript exportNotes /q "notebook:$name" /f $BackupFileName } # Show your work dir $BackupDir } finally { $reader.Close() } # delete the temp file remove-item $tempfile Have fun & Happy Valentine's Day for all of the Evernoters!!! 2/24/14 - Edit: Fixed ENScript exportNotes query. It was missing the 'notebook:' specifier. Also fixed problems with notebooks containing spaced in their names. 7/30/19: Edit: Script changed on to reflect more realistic location of ENScript.exe
  13. I am constantly copying text values from my notes using the Windows Desktop Edition, and in recent times, I believe it has started adding a carriage return to the copied text. This is very frustrating because when you paste the content the Carriage return may or may not be apparent and may or may not affect the result. So you may need to use backspace to delete it, or not. Could we have an option to disable appending the carriage return ? Or alternately, my preference would be simply don't alter the paste buffer at all, and simply copy what is selected. I'm fairly sure this is new behaviour in last few months, because I haven't noticed it over the past few years.
  14. Question: Is it possible to retrieve a classic note link ("evernote:///...") to a note directly from the user interface? Background: RClick on a note only offers "Copy Internal Link (Ctrl-Alt-L)" which ends in a "https://..."-URL to be inserted in other documents (like Excel, Word, ...) On a MAC someone tolds me to press an "option button" after RClick to find the command - but on Windows, I've neither an Option-Button available nor does CTRL work :-( My current workaround is to paste the internal link to a (new, temp.) note text then RClick on this new inserted text and "Edit..." the link. Within the small dialog, I can Cut&Paste the internal syntax string... But this is time wasting and complicated...
  15. I experience the following problem with clippings.io and Evernote. I have my Kindle highlights in clippings.io. Clippings.io has an export feature to Evernote. The highlights are exported to EverNote and everythings seems OK (see screenshot). But when I use them in another program, I get problems with the titles of the pages going missing. F.r. in OneNote for my notebooks, I import it with the EverNote Importer from Microsoft. In OneNote the titles of the pages are missing (see screenshot). When I add a note with title manually and import it, the title of the page appears. I think it has something to do with the format of the title in the export process of clippings.io. But the code to get the title of the page be created from the books title seems to be OK: var book = new Note { NotebookGuid = _notebookGuid, Title = bookTitle, Attributes = new NoteAttributes { SourceURL = "http://www.clippings.io", SourceApplication = "http://www.clippings.io", Source = "http://www.clippings.io", Author = "http://www.clippings.io" }, Content = bookText }; Can anyone help? Best, Adrian
  16. Hi, My computer crashed recently and I am trying to recover my local evernote notebooks. I have access to my old hard drive but I can't seem to find the evernote local notebook files. Could anyone please indicate what would be the default path and extension for local notebooks in Windows? Thanks.
  17. Hello developers, I'm running Evernote 4.5 under windows 7 with outlook 2010. I'm really trying to be nice here, but how to completely remove the f**king outlook add-in of Evernote? I understand you guys want your software prevail everywhere but please this is just a notebook app. If there's no way to do it, I'll have to uninstall it. Thank you.
  18. Hi, I'm a big fan of the Evernote software and I use it a lot with the web clipper. One of the best feature is tagging. However there are some differences in adding tags. In web clipper: It makes use of fuzzy search In desktop search: Makes also use of fuzzy search In desktop adding: Need to type all the way from the beginning. What I think would be very nice is having fuzzy search also in adding tag field. Then I'm able to work quicker with just shortcut keys and it is more consistent in total. (F3 -> type 2 characters for the specific label and probably have it already selectable in a drop down) Thanks. Bart
  19. I have a small question about tables. I've done some experiments with them, because I want to provide a non-white background to my text notes. I created a single-cell table with a satisfactory color in Word, pasted it into Evernote, and did some minor tweaking. At that point I had a pleasant-looking table that I could add to the list of standard templates. But then I discovered there was a serious problem with resizing the tables. If I make the table fairly narrow, it looks good on my phone but rather awkward on my computer screen; if I make the table wider, then it works better on my computer than on my phone (where text starts to run off the right edge of the screen). I gather that the tables created in Evernote do not automatically enlarge or contract according to the size of the screen. I'm under the impression that this question may have been discussed before on this forum. Has anyone come up with a solution?
  20. If I use emoji in notes entered on Android or iOS, they show up fine. But when synced to Windows, they show up as a unicode code instead like &128197; It'd great if this would be supported on Windows... either by providing instructions on what I'd need to do to enable native Windows support for it (I'm on Windows 7) or by bundling/including your own emoji font in the client.
  21. Hi, I just upgraded Evernote to the latest version on my laptop (Win10): evernote 6.11.2.7027 (307027) Public (CE Build ce-43.0.4829). Now the note panel is black, impossible to read any note, but they appear in the middle panel (note list). I still can access my notes on my iphone, but what's wrong !!! I tried to uninstall and install again, still ko As suggested in another post, the checkbox "allow beta version" doesn't change the behavior. Please help, regards
  23. We are trying to update an install on Evernote 5.4 to 5.4.1 on a Windows 7-64 system and receive a message that the old version can't be uninstalled as the Evernote.msi file is missing. I can't find it anywhere on our system. So, now the program doesn't work at all.
  24. Strange and scary bug... It has happened to me many times lately, while I am cleaning my financial records, using Evernote as an electronic file cabinet. I scan all kinds of financial records, put them inside notes. Well lately, some attachments seems to disappear suddenly. I can see them in the preview pane, but they disappear when I open the notes. In the status bar, I can still see the reference to the attachment (for instance: PDF:1 Size: 462 KB). But they just don't appear anymore. And if I do something like "Simplifier le formattage", hoping to make the display more easy for the program, the attachment won't come back, and suddenly the status bar won't show it anymore. It happens often when I copy the URL of the note in another note... but it is not the only time it happens. Any idea?
  25. How to make my work computer to open evernote links in Chrome with Evernote desktop application? Long story below: I'm using the same Chrome user both at home and at work. All my extensions and settings are identical and synced. I have Evernote web clipper plugin in both. Home computer uses Win 8.1 and is doing what I want, work computer has Win 7 and doesn't do it. I want that when I open a link like this: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s3/nl/237001/232d6d1e-11b5-40f3-aa53-f278f070f5a7, my computer would open it in browser and then suddenly change to my desktop application. That's the behaviour I expect and that's how my home computer does the job (I'm using https://calendar.sunrise.am/ , where I can just click "View on evernote"). Tried playing with the file: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Local State and adding: "protocol_handler": { "excluded_schemes": { <...> "evernote": false,At my home computer it's like the above, at work computer there was no "evernote" line at all. Tried setting it false, true, removing - no difference. So, I know that it's possible, because it's working from the home computer.
