  1. Hey guys, I would like to use saved searches as a link in a note. So I can click on the search-link in that note and get the results. Because I want to share this note and also these searches with another person, the quick access (favorites) and the saved searches in my own search field are not helpful. Example: I create a note "OVERVIEW". In that note I want to show a clickable saved seach (notebook:"home" tag:"invoice" tag:"paid"). With another person I'm sharing the notebook:"home". This person now should see the also shared note "OVERVIEW" and can click at the saved search "Paid Invoices Home" (notebook:"home" tag:"invoice" tag:"paid") and get all the paid invoices from notebook home. How is that possible? Or how can I solve this problem instead? Hope you understand my question... looking forward to your ideas.
  2. So the official Evernote keyboard shortcuts guide says there is a shotcut to increase/decrease font size of selected text. But I have never been able to get that to work. And I know this has been a problem that's existed for some time. Is there any fix for this on the horizon? Thanks!
  3. Hello, New to Business Evernote, I also have the basic evernote for my personal use which I switch between with business. I just signed up, and am starting to organize information. I created some notes and somehow they all got duplicated. I tried to delete/remove the duplicate notebooks but the remove/delete are grayed out on all of them. Even the default notebook I'm unable to delete. Help!
  4. Today we released Windows 6.21 GA. It's available here! What’s in 6.21 GA? Fixed: - If you opened a notebook by double-tapping your touchscreen, all the notes in it would be duplicated. Admittedly this was a bit of an overreaction, so we fixed it. - The app was changing some characters in your hyperlinks, which meant they wouldn’t work on other Evernote clients. But it should be smooth surfing now. - In Work Chat, names with Japanese and Korean characters would sometimes be changed to Kanji or question marks. That was no help to anyone, but thankfully it’s a thing of the past. - We took care of a few other issues that were causing the app to crash.
  5. Hello, I was wondering if there are any plans to add some kind of keyboard shortcut to access a color picker for text in the Windows desktop client. I know there's Ctrl+D to open a full text formatting dialog - not sure how it is in Mac but on Windows 7 it opens up a horrible Win'95-esque dialog with an unchangeable palette of colors that are just about the ugliest ones available on the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The Evernote native palette on the note toolbar is much nicer, but can only be accessed via the mouse as far as I'm aware. I would love it if a quick and handy text-color-modding keyboard shortcut existed, since it would make coloring up my text so much easier if I could do it using just the keyboard.
  6. Hello, I am new to Evernote, but I would rather use the web version only, because I have very little disk space on my PC left. Am I missing any important features? I know that the Windows version is easiert to use and faster, but what besides that am I missing?
  7. At the bottom of a note, please add virtual scroll space from the content so it is easier to 'click and type' more content. This would be especially useful on iOS; placing the cursor just past the last line of text can be maddeningly frustrating, and (when I remember) I will just hit return several times to give myself buffer at the end of the note.
  8. Hi, Is there a way to quickly copy format (font in particular) in Evernote 4.x? If not, is this going to be added in the near future? I'd consider this basic functionality. Regards, Nefi M.
  9. I might be a little late to the spell check discussion party, but I just noticed F7 doesn't work at all, in spite of being mentioned in the help page as calling the spell checker. Yes, I am aware a different help page says the following: "There's no spell check feature built into Evernote for Windows. However, you can right-click a word to see spelling correction suggestions based on your operating system's capabilities." However, I was trying to see if I could disable automatic spell checking and just use F7 as needed. I guess something that obvious is not possible, huh.
  10. I could have sworn there was an option at the top of each notebook to add a code block but I cant find it now and searching online it seems like i'm the only person experiencing this problem. I feel like I jumped into a timeline where the codeblock format never existed or I'v gone mad. Please does anyone remember there being a code block format option and more importantly is there a way to add codeblocks now that the option seems to be gone?
  11. I create lists of things I need to do. I prioritize my time by reordering the list and removing items when they're done. I want to be able to reorder the list easily using buttons, hotkeys, or drag and drop. This seems like such an easy feature to add to both the web and Windows versions. Reordering lists as priority changes are crucial to my system. Having to copy out of EN into a text editor (notepad++ for me) just so I can CTRL+SHIFT a row up and down and then having to copy it back so that I can view the changes on my other devices leaves me at risk of losing my changes. I copy out, reorder and forget to copy back. For me, checkboxes don't work. If I'm done with a ToDo, I want it out of my view. CTRL+SHIFT+D should delete the current row in the list. If I'm scanning down through my list and I see items that need to be done before the one at the top of the list, I want to be able to move them to the top. Clicking on that line or highlighting any part of any line and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+UP should move the selected rows up one row, CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+UP should move it up all the way. Alternatively, you could drag and drop them.
  12. I frequently use Evernote to store snippets of code. The spell check feature marks variable names, function names, method and property names, etc., making it difficult to read. Is there a way to turn off spell check for just that note? Thanks.
  13. When I start Evernote it puts an icon in the system tray and then I have to click on the icon in the system tray to open Evernote. Before I updated to the latest version it used to just open the program and not do this system tray annoyance. I've tried going back a couple of versions/builds, but it seems stuck starting in the system tray. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?
  14. The tag hierarchy in the left panel works OK - it is easy to collapse groups of tags into the main tag to make it easier to locate a particular tag - I usually use the keyboard arrows for that. However, when I click on Ctrl-Shift-T, every time the hierarchy is expanded, and there is no way that I have found to be able to collapse it without clicking on individual arrowheads to collapse the group. Why can the two systems of managing the hierarchy work the same?
  15. Hi It would be great if the tag autocomplete works in a better way when adding tags to the note. Currently it starts from the first alphabet e.g. I have tags the following 3 tags - > apple, green apple, black apple If I type a then the autocomplete just shows me apple. It would be great if it also shows the other 2 options. I use multi word tags and sometimes I am trying to type from the 2nd word. I know it is a small thing to start typing from the beginning but it would be more intuitive if it works like this. Thanks Aseem Bansal
  16. I recently did a full-blown Evernote Windows reinstall. My screen captures are now trying to add tags automatically. The smart feature is not very smart and assigns non-related tags. I want to be the decision maker. Is there a way to completely turn off this auto-tagging?
  17. Today we're releasing version 6.6 GA - you can download it here. This release gives all users access to the new editor including better tables and image preview functionality along with some improvements to the share dialog. Our new editor has some changes in it's behavior including how it handles copy/paste, simplify formating and lays out content. We're continuing to track feedback in this and other areas to understand what to refine next in terms of the experience, so please keep the feedback coming as we're expecting to include more tweaks along with more editing features in 6.7 and upcoming releases. Thanks, Chantal and the rest of the Windows and the Editor teams! -------------------- Full release notes for version 6.6: Evernote for Windows 6.6 Release Notes Major improvements to tables! Some highlights: Quickly add rows and columns – via the plus button Easily select cells – by clicking-and-dragging, or by clicking the column/row headers Efficiently drag and drop rows & columns – by clicking on the row/column headers, and then dragging and dropping the row/column elsewhere Better copy/paste – copy multiple cells, then place your cursor anywhere in the table to paste into multiple cells New fixed width columns – so that as you increase/decrease one column’s width, it does not affect the next column’s width New horizontally scrollable tables – so that you won’t need to expand your window wide to view a table that has many columns Access advanced table functions – via the new menu which provides options such as Resizing the table width to match the current window size Distributing selected columns evenly Adjusting alignment of content in cells Changing cell background color Additional info: The new tables do not support "table-in-table" or "merged cell" functionality. If you paste incompatible tables into a note, then the tables in the note will not have the updated table features or controls (including resizing). In a future update, we plan to support pasted-in tables that have merged cells. New image gallery! Double-click on an image to enter the gallery mode, which allows you to quickly browse all the images in your note! New editor Evernote for Windows now utilizes the new editor, which has been rewritten to allow for more rapid improvements to the editor moving forward. Improved Share dialog More easily share notes via our improved UI which allows sharing to another evernote user or through a public link. Bug fixes A number of user reported bugs are now fixed in this release: Notes with tables and checkboxes were sometimes causing the app to hang Line breaks were sometimes hidden below the bottom margin of the note When attempting to repeatedly add attachments to a note, sometimes attachments fail to be added to note When copying text from an email that contains dates/times that have were auto-formatted as links, sometimes the dates/times were not pastable into Evernote If a user had changed their font size, began typing text and creating line breaks, and then deleted some text, the font size would sometimes unexpectedly revert back to the default size Undo often did not work on the first try when there was a table in the note ---------------------------------- Screenshots
  18. Today we released Windows 6.18 beta 1. It's available here! What’s in 6.18 beta 1? Fixed: - Printing a note with a PDF always prints a blank page first - UserID is shown when user shares a note - "Save as template" icon is too small on note panel toolbar in HiDPI display - Fixed several crashes - Text search blocks last of text in the note - Tag is added to notes without prefix when adding a tag with prefix ";" to notes on multi select view - Drag and drop a resource from computer into an existing note with text does not paste where the cursor is
  19. [Win 10 - 64-bit] I clicked on my E/note icon in the taskbar. It opened normally but after about 10 seconds it just disappeared. I looked down at the taskbar and nothing was open. I tried the icon again - nothing. I tried double clicking the desktop icon - nothing. Finally, I tried opening 'evernote.exe' from within Explorer - again no joy. Whilst in Explorer, I noticed a 'logs' sub-folder which contained the following entries that coincided with the 'disappearance': Here's the logs which mean nothing to me: [14408] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:01:35 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:01:35 [INFO ] [14408] [17888] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [14408] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:01:35 (UTC+0:00) [17140] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:02:15 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:02:16 [INFO ] [17140] [13128] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [17140] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:02:16 (UTC+0:00) [17536] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:02:30 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:02:30 [INFO ] [17536] [11024] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [17536] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:02:30 (UTC+0:00) [15160] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:04:56 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:04:56 [INFO ] [15160] [17552] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [15160] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:04:56 (UTC+0:00) [13764] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:05:04 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:05:04 [INFO ] [13764] [12244] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [13764] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:05:04 (UTC+0:00) [17972] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:05:35 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:05:35 [INFO ] [17972] [10484] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [17972] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:05:35 (UTC+0:00) [8848] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:05:40 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:05:40 [INFO ] [8848] [15800] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [8848] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:05:40 (UTC+0:00) [14540] Log opened on 2017/12/23 15:05:48 (UTC+0:00), logging level: [INFO ] 15:05:48 [INFO ] [14540] [1536] Command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote\Evernote.exe" [14540] Log closed on 2017/12/23 15:05:48 (UTC+0:00)' There's a large '.txt' file in the crashes' sub-folder that is mumbo-jumbo to me. 20. I want the ability to turn on or off automatic hyperlinking. Not after the fact as an edit but the presumption. The current automatic hyperlink is a fatal flaw. If the option already exists, can you inform me how I might set Evernote to "never automatically hyperlink"? In addition, there should be an option to highlight a word and right-click restore or add the hyper link to the selection if desired. So, the exception is in the end-users control. Pretty simple, really. I am a long time paid subscriber, this seemingly lacking feature annoys me to the point of looking at OneNote. BTW. I use all OSs and mobile platforms, but this, I was told was the best place to put the suggestion. -adam
  21. I have had major issues connecting to evernote server after logging out on windows 10. It will come up with can't connect to server or couldn't connect to server. I tried all the usual things and all those suggested by evernote with no luck. Then I worked out the following that worked for me. I hope this might help some poor sole that has tried everything else. if Evernote can't connect to server - Possible solution if others don't work go to Internet explorer then settings, then internet options then advanced, scroll down and turn off ssl 3, enable tsl 1 and disable tsl 2 and tsl 3 if this doesn't work try enabling tsl 2 etc etc until it works evernote does not support SSL 3 apparently but even with all the TSL's on it sometimes still does not work so disabling some or the lot and applying it then turning just one on seems to make it work straight away. Wasted a whole day trying to get this to work and its very frustrating should sent evernote a bill for wasting my time.
  22. I am working on converting some AH scripts for EN into EXE files, so far so good, except EN displays a message every single time: "You are about to open executable file "some-file.exe". Are you sure you want to open this file?" A forum search suggests stopping this is not currently supported, so now it is a request.
  23. Heya, I use Evernote personally and professionally with a premium plan. I'd love the ability to select which notebooks/stacks can be synced/viewed per client so that my work computer will never have access to personal notes. My biggest fear is needing to search for a note in a work notebook for work and have private notes in the search results. I present my screen multiple times per week and opposed to my coworkers seeing how I use Evernote, they don't even know it's installed. It's not ideal for me, and definitely hurts any prospective word-of-mouth advertising that Evernote could benefit from. This seems like it would be an easy implementation. During install, offer to select which notebooks to sync to this local install, and offer the ability to edit the selection in the Synchronization options. Bandwidth and sync operations would also benefit. I use tags extensively and keep notebooks very broadly so would perfectly for my use-case. It also aligns with the existing use-cases for notebooks, since sharing is done per-notebook, so I suspect it would benefit many others too.
  24. Just curious about this phrase I keep seeing, Evernote "notebook kingdom". Seems an odd way to refer to the notebook list. I did a forum search and a google search, it seems to be used exclusively during beta discussions (Windows & Mac specifically). Even the help pages don't seem to use it. Which means this might be the first topic outside the beta discussions using it.
  25. How exactly do tags work in shared notebooks? I am working collaboratively quite often with new users (Who I often make download and use Evernote). Suffice to say I am ussually doing most of the organisation of notes for them, to have some kind of order... The setting are users can: view and edit. I know I can tag notebooks any way I like... 1) Do they see/have access to my tags? Or Am I only one who can see the things I tag? 2) Can they add tags on a shared notebook? And if they add tags on my shared notebooks... Is it only for their eyes? Or do we all have the shared tags they decide to add? Thanks. Need to know this before I give advice for them on using tags to help me organise things systematically...
