  1. I went to Evernote web to delete some unused tags. I now cannot get back to the installed version of Evernote, which I normally use. Each time I hit the Evernote icon, I get the Web version and am asked to log-in or create an account. I use a MacBook Air and have the latest operating system. Any ideas? I have probably done something stupid!
  2. Sorry for possibly overlooking the obvious, but how can you verify that you are running an EN client (i.e., desktop version) as opposed to the web version? Thanks.
  3. Wa, Who create this kind of Disaster version. 1.Few information can be seen (notebook, notebook title , and note content can not show up in a same time!!!) It only for those without too much note have to handle , if yes, why he / she need evernote 2.only suit for portable device but not desktop or notebook 3. So many blank area , (but your promotion say it is more focus , Gosh , who's ideal ) 4. can not tuning the column wides, I am a bit frustrated on old version only could tuning one of the column but not the other side (content area only auto tuning) for beta !! no way for user to tuning , it is totally disappointed 5.roll down the note title , it need take couple minutes to wait the data pop out , if I roll up again it still need wait , wait wait wait .... new version make user with low productivity 6.click so may time to got information , gosh who design it , Please "FIRE he or she" Most important , the way to roll back , 1. For years now, in Evernote on Windows, Android, and web, every time I change the settings in the 'note list view' from their default settings to: - sort notes by: Title - uncheck: reverse order At some point later on or if there's an update to the program, it will revert back to the default settings. This is very annoying and I'd like to finally see my choice preserved.
  5. I'm relatively new to Evernote and I love it. It is a major part of my future. I'm so excited by it that I've even managed to get my wife and son to love it too. Now, I'm looking for ideas for the optimal structure of my notebooks and notes, do you have any ideas or suggestions on this? I want to use Evernote for everything in my life. Broadly, this is divided into Work and Home. Fortuitously, this fits with my Mac calendar too! Then there's my Personal life which includes my personal interests over and above my Home life which includes domestic stuff and family. Add to the mix that I'm attempting to get more productive all around in my life and integrate the productivity bible Getting Things Done by David Allen, and I am beginning to get confused as to how my Notebook structure should look. Ideally it would be an elegant and intuitive structure - that's my vision for it, anyway! I've watched the way Paul Boag uses Evernote: and am reading Evernote: The unofficial guide to capturing everything and getting things done. 2nd Edition However, I'm a bit confused as to how best to structure my own Evernote. Does anyone have any ideas about how to structure the Notebooks, notes and tags etc? Perhaps you can share some of the ways you're using Evernote, in terms of the structure of your notebook hierarchies and tags, particularly if you are integrating your use of Evernote with David Allan's Getting Things Done methodology. Thanks!

  7. We currently have support for RSS feeds for public notebooks to allow subscribers to automatically get updates to those notebooks. Last night's (4/10/2013) release of the web service removed this support. Attempts to access Public Notebook RSS feeds will return a 404 HTTP response code instead of the heretofore expected content. At this point, the feature was imposing excessive load on the service relative to its use and utility, and the decision was made to remove it.
  8. I opted in to new web beta, thinking, "How bad can it be?" It's awful... but if you go to Settings you can opt out again.
  9. I saw that there was a new beta of the web client and was genuinely excited. I use the Web client at work everyday and would agree that an update is definitely needed. Modern web apps can do all kinds of cool stuff, and I was excited to see how much "whizzbangness" had been added to the beta. I see what you're trying to do with the focus on writing. That part looks good. Maybe a little minimal for my tastes but I get the gist. But almost everything else is concerning. And this is coming from someone who LOVES Evernote. I realize this is a beta and was totally prepared to make do with some things, but it's like 25% of the app was just completely left out. So I'll start the list of things that I would like to see. Feel free to add to the list Reminders Saved Searches Saved Searches in Shortcuts are also gone. Nested Tags (Tag hierarchy) Maybe less white space Multi-select Notes Search within the Notebook and Tag lists for fast access A way to cancel/discard a newly created note without having to save and delete it. Notebook stacks visible from the notebook drop down menu in the note editor. Always present option to get back to the home view. Share icon design. Note list view Night mode / Color contrast options More Keyboard Shortcuts (if possible in a browser) Mouse-over on nav icons Option to toggle formatting bar so that it’s always present Note highlighting and annotation Share notes via email Ability to open multiple notes (open in new window) No resizing Delay Text at the end of the screen during note creation Text formatting requires too many clicks Reminder set ends when you click the date. Done button. While in search mode, search terms take up too much space Page breaks Pasting images from clipboard Information density Update time in Note Info Please keep in mind that this is posted with love from a user who has been here since 2008. Premium since 2009. UPDATE: I will try to keep the list up to date with suggestions and ideas from others.
  10. I've got a problem with pictures. I think it's been happening since a long time ago through all the platforms. As before, now in my Mac and in the web I have two notes where I've pasted a picture and Evernote saved the thumbnail of the pic but fails to recover the picture itself. What can I do?   12. ちょっと迷ってWebclipperの方に書いちゃったんですけど、本来EvernoteWebがwebpを表示できるようになっていれば起きない問題なんで、こちらにも書いておきます。 WebclipperでWebページを取り込むと、ほとんど?画像はwebpになってしまいます。 そのノートはAndroidでは問題なく表示できますが、EvernoteWebでは画像がリンクになってしまって表示されません。これはChromeでもIEでも同様でした。 webpはChromeはもちろんですが、WindowsのExplorerでもコーデックをインストールしてあるので表示可能になっています。AndroidももちろんOK。唯一EvernoteWebだけが表示不可という状態です。しかもWebclipperで取り込んだノートなのに、です。やはりこれはEvernoteWebの問題ですよね。 ちなみに新しい方のEvernoteWebでも状況は同じでした。新しいEvernoteWebも複数のノートを扱えないとか、劣化仕様もいいところです。ノートブックの改廃や、それに伴う大量のノートの移動というような編集を行うことができません。まあそれはまた別の話ですけど…。
  13. I love Evernote, I do. I've been using the personal version daily for years. It's perfect for storing ideas, thoughts, task reminders and check lists – all constant needs in personal life. Storing info, insights, tasks – all even bigger needs in business life. Awesome! I was considering signing us up today for a business account and had some realizations... how is live collaborative notes not a part of Evernote? I really believe it's the biggest thing holding Evernote back. Everything down to a simple work meeting? Or a group of students taking notes during class? I can only imagine the headache of having to go back in after the meeting and merge 10 different "conflict" versions. Two people working on a project together checking off tasks? One doesn't know the other is done until it updates. Students, spouses, or business? I just paid somebody to do a task his coworker already completed. Building a test review note? Building a knowledge database for researchers? For companies? If one employee has a great sales pitch phrase and wants to go add it to the list, they don't even know somebody else is already viewing and working on that note. Conflict and time wasted rebuilding the database. Day after day after day. Genuinely, this isn't meant as a rant. It's really not. We'd love all the other features Evernote offers, but for now we don't have much choice but to stick with a folder organized google docs / sheets. The paid version of google for business is $5 with 30GB storage, email accounts, live collaborative sheets/docs, calendaring, tasks. It's capable of storing info and ideas as docs and sheets. It can store and link to any file type. You can store files offline. Everything is indexed and searchable. Chat (and video chat). Security, access, and admin controls. People with personal google accounts can switch back and forth between accounts (by the way that's a feature free even in standard accounts). 24/7 support. Sound familiar? Evernote Business is trying to fill similar needs... right? Right now Evernote Business is $12 per user per month. That's 2x more than Google and from what I can tell, what we're getting Evernote's superior organization scheme and searching text within images/PDFs. I'd even consider paying Evernote a fee on top of our Google accounts. But with the massive monetary time loss to click by click rebuilding databases and notes? Right now, without live collaboration Evernote Business would hurt our business, not help it. I could be wrong, but it seems that would be the case for most businesses. Google offers live collaboration for free on all it's accounts, personal and business. It's not some upgrade. That's why it's used by students collaboratively taking notes in a lecture. Companies creating reports and presentations. As a long time personal user of Evernote, I know Evernote could be a MUCH better solution to those notes, info, and presentation needs. Evernote could become the platform students and businesses turn to for info. But for now, I guess I'll just keep using it for limited personal use.
  14. I have input into many feature requests and hopes for the future in Evernote. Those are still there to be sure. But for today, as I markup a PDF on my iPad I wanted to just say thanks for what Evernote is, here and now. This could be cross posted in the Windows forum where I use that client and the web clipper every day. Where I incessantly markup and document screen captures, and share them out for instructing staff. It could be cross posted in the Mac forum where I use it at home, and like some of its unique personalities while missing some of the Windows flavour. It could be cross posted in the web forum, where I enjoy love the OAuth support, and enjoy each and every time I'm prompted for a second factor to login (even to the discussion thread here), or to re-authorize an iOS App. And every day where I live in Evernote on my iPad and iPhone. The sync just keeps getting better. The PDF markup is a real pleasure to use. i'll no doubt rant another day soon. But for today I'm just steeped in the fact that it's such a help and pleasure to use. Thanks Evernote.
  15. 以前のデザインのEvernote for webには、ctrlキーを使って複数のノートを選択し、マージしたり一括削除する機能がありました。 新しいデザインで同じように操作してみたところ、ctrlキーにこの機能は無いようですね。 新しいデザインになって、操作方法が変わったのでしょうか。それとも複数選択の機能自体がなくなってしまったのでしょうか? 内外で検索してみたのですが、この辺りの変更について触れられているドキュメントに行き当たらなかったもので……
  16. The web app on my mac only has one date format for reminders, which is US only. This is M/D/Y. Most of the world however will find such a format confusing as they use D/M/Y.   17. I would like to change the FONT SIZE for all NEW notes. I dont want to manually do it each time. It presently starts with 14 point. I want it to be higher. Thanks
  18. I'm really stuck here. I'm a "free" user of Evernote and so is my work colleague. We have been successfully sharing notebooks for viewing and editing without any hassles. However, we ran into problems when we wanted to share a notebook with one of our students. After I elect to share a notebook with a student, they receive a chat message saying that I've shared a notebook, however, the shared notebook doesn't appear in the student's collection of notebooks. This is regardless is we use a Mac, Windows or Web client to login. So then, I asked another colleague who had a premium account to share a workbook with the same student. Unfortunately, the same results. I'm at my wits end trying to workout what's going wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Thanking you in advance.
  19. Hello, Though I really do like the new evernote interface, I am not able to group my tags under each other, have sub-sections within each other - or well - basically a hierarchy. Is there an alternative option or is there a way to switch back to the old evernote. Thank You.
  20. アカウントの概要内で、「新しい Evernote Web をご利用中です。古いバージョンに戻す」の項目が表示されません。 他のスタッフでは上記のリンクが表示されていますが、新規スタッフのみ表示されません。 Internet Explorer 11とchromeを使用していますが、どちらも結果は同じでした。 Web上では上記「新しい Evernote Web をご利用中です。古いバージョンに戻す」のリンクがある事が前提の解説しか見つかりませんでした。 IE上やPCでの設定の問題かと思い、他のPCよりEvernote Webへアクセス・ログインして試行してみましたが やはり「新しい Evernote Web をご利用中です。古いバージョンに戻す」の項目がありませんでした。 8月の登録者のみがこの現象になっています。 何か解決策がありましたら、ご教授頂きたいと思っております。 よろしくお願いいたします。
  21. I really like the new Web client interface and would like to open the discussion about Web vs Windows, or Android or iOS client. Why do I need a desktop client? All of my Evernote content is cloud based, so why do I need a desktop client? Unless it is the rare times when I am not connected to the web and need to access notebooks, etc?
  22. I send a lot of new notes to my "Inbox" (default) notebook, then periodically go through them to retitle them, tag them, and move them to their permanent notebook homes. I can't do that in the "classic" web version anymore, because titles can no longer be edited in that mode. In the web beta, I can edit titles and tags, but I can't merge notes, which I can live with for the moment (I assume it's temporary). The thing that irritates me most about the beta is that when I am reviewing my Inbox notebook and reassign a note to a different notebook, my view follows the note into the newly-assigned notebook, instead of staying in the Inbox with the note disappearing from sight. Completely unworkable.

  25. I have an encrypted note in Evernote. When I tried to read it yesterday (version 5.6.1 on my Mac), I entered the password and the hidden text became visible. When I then clicked on the text it simply disappeared. At that point I set Sync to manual to prevent it saving any changes and tried re-opening the note (many times!) - it seemed though to have lost all my encrypted text. Looking at this note now on a PC (version 5.6.4.4632) I can decrypt it and see the text properly. I've just synced it again from the PC, hoping that this might de-corrupt it. Looking now at the web version of Evernote: (a) in the old version, I can put in the password and view the text. When I click anywhere to edit the text, it disappears. (b ) in the web beta version (both FireFox and IE), it never asks for a password - there is no way to see the text The padlock strip just seems to be an image. When I click on it I get get a fonts etc tool strip. Fortunately I've now managed to backup the note content - but I find it very worrying that a note can just lose its contents like this. I'm thinking as there were problems with the Mac version and both web versions that the note is probably corrupt in a way that affects web and Mac versions but not the Windows Evernote. Eeek! How can I avoid this happening again? Roger
