  1. On Mac Safari at least, the Evernote homepage (www.evernote.com) is missing links to sign in / help etc for existing users. I'm guessing/hoping that's not intentional. Screenshots attached.
  2. Hi Everyone, This may be an old topic by now, but I can't seem to find a clear answer. Will the old/classic version of the web interface continue to be supported for the foreseeable future, or is the plan to remove it once the new interface is no longer in Beta? I've had to switch most of my Evernote activity to the web interface and decided that I would not be paying for the service and have been looking (unsuccessful) into alternatives for quite some time. I'd never seen the old web interface, so I didn't know it was there. After discovering it, and switching my settings, it's an amazing difference. I can again quickly jump between notes without having to fumble around with a search or a shortcuts menu. It's MUCH more efficient for my purposes. If Evernote has stated somewhere that this interface will remain a permanent option, I will be purchasing a subscription. Can anyone direct me to this information? Thanks.
  3. To get to notes that have previously been shared with me, I have to open search for user chats and either view the user details or scroll through chat history in order to see them. I have no way of organising, tagging or searching them. This seems a little odd given than it's possible to view/edit them. It would be much better if such notes were listed in the normal note lists, perhaps even have them automatically filed into an 'inbox' notebook or something.
  4. I use Evernote in in order of preference on the following devices: 1. iPhone (iOS app) 2. Work PC (Evernote Web) 3. iPad (iOS app) 4. MacBook Pro (MAC OS app) 5. iMac (MAC OS app) I am unable to encrypt text in my iPhone (let alone the other encryption abilities that are requested in other posts) so if I wish to change a login and encrypt that within a note, i have to enter it and leave it unencrypted until I return to the desktop version Why is this still a problem? Every feature available on the Web or desk top version should be available in the mobile version. Or am I missing something?
  6. I wanted to move some text from one note to another. So I cut it in one note (shift+delete), switched to another note and pasted (shift+insert). Then I realized that evernote does not recognize shift+delete as cut but rather delete and since I switched notes I cannot undo in original note. What can I do to restore that deleted text ? This is so irritating :-(
  7. Hi, First of all, I was not really sure where to put this post up, as my experience involves multiple platforms and multiple types of usage for Evernote. If the moderators feel that this post belongs to some other section, then please feel free to move it to an appropriate section. Secondly, I'm an Evernote Basic user since late 2012, and have upgraded to Premium this year. I have used Evernote in Android and Windows for basic note taking, writing stories, as a document repository, and some PIM. I really like the concept behind Evernote, and how good it is at executing some of those. It is indeed one of the most complete and reliable tools of its kind. However, lately I have been noticing that the usability and reliability of Evernote has taken a serious hit on multiple fronts. 1. As a writing app - editor issues on my Moto G 2nd generation (running Android 6.0) Since the introduction of the new editing interface (around 7.9.3 - 7.9.4), longer notes (15 KB or more, plaintext) are a pain to edit on my phone. I have updated the app to the latest version (7.9.6), and the issue still persists. The editor is barely responsive and taps and swipes get registered after a noticeable lag. It is not an issue with the phone, as other apps like MS Word work as those should. Also, as the note size increases, the performance degrades proportionately. I have raised a ticket with the support team regarding this, without a resolution. I won't say the support team is not responsive, they do try to help, but they haven't been able to replicate the issue, let alone finding the root cause. After attempts at replicating the issue for a month or more, the issue is currently pending with the development team for the last 20+ days, without a response. My gut feeling is that the editor was not optimized for older phones before the rollout. 2. All types of usage affected by syncing issues on every platform I have difficulty coming to terms with the fact that none of the Evernote installations can be trusted to sync properly. Some days back, one of the notebooks appeared to contain 2 notes on my phone, but on opening, only one was visible (and all other clients and web version showed one). On one of my laptops, one notebook seemed to contain 8 notes, whereas from all other clients 15 notes were visible. And to fix these issues, I had to delete the database from the Windows client and rebuild the Evernote database. Similarly for the phone. The major problem is, you never know when your database is corrupted, unless you keep on checking the note counts and the notes on every client. And to top this off, the web version shows that my trash contains 2 notes (other clients show trash is empty) - neither has a name and no content is visible. I'm wary to raise a support ticket, as again they won't be able to replicate this. Make no mistake, Evernote is still a great product, but it needs to get the basics right (those were right before, which is all the more disheartening). I'm not even demanding for features I'd love to see, but give us a working note taking/writing/filing tool which syncs well with the cloud. Please. Regards, Sandipan
  8. Is it correct that you cannot annotate an individual note in EN for the web? I know you can it do in EN for Windows. I don't know about EN for Mac. More generally, is there any "help page" that lists: Which EN features are available only on EN for Windows but not on EN for the web? and which EN features are available only on EN for the web but not on EN for Windows? Knowing all the various platform feature differences would help me as I develop a "workflow" to process about thirty-thousand notes.
  9. How can I permanently remove an attachment that I already deleted from my account? Weeks ago, I sent a image from my iphone to my evernote email inbox account. I deleted it almost immediately after using it.. The image (attachment) no longer resides on my phone, ipod, or desktop account. I have confirmed that the trash is empty and all devices are synced. However, when I just went online (web evernote) and went to my profile Home > "My Attachments" the document still shows up under my account. As stated It was deleted weeks ago. I've been googling for an hour and been through several blogs and see issues on attachments but it in this case, I just want to permanently delete an attachment I already deleted and not have it show up in my quota. It's taking up space for my attachment quota but it was deleted weeks ago but still remains. "see picture" I didn't even realize there was such a small attachment limit (500 kb) but regardless can someone show me how to delete it from my account. This could also be a security issue given I thought the file was deleted weeks ago. Thank you for your assistance in advance
  10. The indentation arrows for increase/decrease indent are not in the same order in the Windows Client and the webinterface. If you use both, this causes you to frequently select the wrong one. A very simple request: Could you change these to be consistent. My preference would be decrease indent on the left, increase indent on the right. This is the way they're set up on the Windows client. Cheers, Remco.
  11. ...would be a better idea, than the "saved searches" mechanism!
  12. Hello, I know there is no Evernote client for Linux. For the moment I am ok using Evernote Web. But I would like to know if there is a way to backup the notes and store them locally as text files. I am on Debian (Jessie). I found GeekNote but I am not sure they provide that feature. Thanks
  13. Hi, As an avid evernote user going on 2-3 years now I have been using the Web client mostly for my work when it is most convenient. I and I'm sure most of the other users who use Evernote on Mac and PCs would appreciate the same features on the web client for all browsers as they get on their desktop/laptop client where they are forced to download to get all the features in the desktop client. I know apps are becoming the thing of the future but a full fledged web client would be useful too if your developers have the time to modify the web client to act as well as the desktop/laptop client. Just a suggestion for the future as it will make all our lives easier if we can just go to the web client instead of using the apps for our desktop.
  14. Hi, I have a feature request to be able to add an email list to send a note or list to when created. This way when a user creates a note they can add a list of emails to send the note to when they are ready to send the note. You can import/link individual or all contacts into Evernote from Google or Microsoft Live or any of the other services that come to mind that keep contacts in their services. Then a user can choose which emails from the list of contacts to send the note or list too. I believe this will enhance the user experience and will broaden the scope and marketing of Evernote by giving all the recipients of the note or list an option within the email to subscribe to Evernote. It doesn't need to just be a feature for paid users only, either, because Evernote will be improving their marketing because all recipients will have a link to purchase a subscription or sign up to Evernote.
  15. I don't know how to switch back to the old web UI, is it not possible anymore? I like the look of the new UI, but it feels sluggish, good looking but less functional. For example with the old UI you coud always sse at glance every note in every notebook, but now... well you have to select each notebook to see the notes in it. The note list is ok.. but it doesn't tell you immediately in which notebook they belong. Am I the only one missing this "feature"?
  16. How about allowing users to sync to devices by tag instead of (in addition to?) by notebook?
  17. My colleague shared a notebook with me and other users with Edit and Invite. Notable to mention, this used to work fine (I used to have access as expected), at least within the past 2 months or so (I hadn't tried it in 2 mos) something happened that made it locked. For the other users, they can use it, np. For me however, I can see it in my Notebooks, but it is greyed out and has a lock icon next to it, and I cannot access it. I asked him to even delete the share all together, and it still appeared greyed out with a lock icon. I've verified he's using the correct email. All parties involved have the free accounts. The platform is Web all across. Any ideas on how to fix?
  18. It would appear that google drive integration only works with the new web interface i.e. the google triangle icon does appear in the editor in the old interface. Is this working as designed? Can this be changed? As I really don't get on with the new interface, but like this integration feature.
  19. Hi Everyone. I'm trying to figure out this maddening problem with encrypted text in notes. As I see in this forum post, this problem has existed since at least 2013: What the user who wrote this did not state is that This is not only a Linux problem - it occurs on both Windows 8.sucks and Windows 10. As soon as this occurs, the encrypted text picture becomes just a picture and you can no longer decrypt text. To do so, you have to move to another note then back again to the note with the encrypted text. At least, you can copy the encrypted text, but only if you click and hold the mouse button until you've selected all the text you want and Ctrl+C before releasing the mouse button. It's very clear that this behavior is a bug, and it's been 2.5 years since the original post I found was written; how is it that this is still an issue? What can we do to have encrypted text in notes be really useful? Andrew
  20. Apologies if already logged and / or already available (!), but I would really like the option of printing a note from the web app.
  23. I've just started using the new Google Drive integration for Mac OSX and when I attach an image from Google Drive it crops the images in the preview it gives. I would much rather it showed the full image. When viewing on Android, the preview shows the full pic, so why does it not on Mac and web too? Also, for pdf attachments the user can right click and select "View as attachment" to stop the pdf preview being shown. It would be good if Google Drive images also had this option.
  24. I follow the usual steps: Find a web page that I like in Chrome, select Options > Share > Evernote. The green Evernote Clipper starts whirling at the bottom of the screen. The new note appears with what has been clipped, but no URL! Up until recently this new note would have contained just the URL of the page. Now it saves a screen capture and no URL. I have checked that the whirling clipper is set correctly ("Clip full article" is un-ticked). This started happening a few weeks ago. Anybody else experiencing this? Evernote ver. 7.9.3 Android 5.0.1 Samsung S4 GT-I9505
  25. I just noticed earlier when visiting one of my shared public links that the display font size is about 14pt. I would prefer a font size congruent with that of my browser display settings, typically 10pt to 12pt. 14pt is a wasteful consumption of space, but there seems to be no way to control this? While on this topic, the rigid margins are also wasteful. Coupled with the giant font, it presents as a really narrow page, no matter the browser width, with unnecessarily large text and unnecessarily wide margins, which causes multiple line wraps extending the length of the note and, imo, making things more complicated. Let me control my own font sizes and margins. I'll zoom the page if the font is too small, and make the window narrower if it's too wide. This move makes it seem like something one would see on a child's tablet, or an accessibility setting with screen zoom. If I want a tablet look, I'll use the tablet. The intent may be to make the page cleaner and simpler this way, but it's a step backward in usefulness, imho, and makes what should be a simple display a bit overwhelming. Attached are a couple of examples for clarification. Note the horizontal scrollbar in the screenshot of an actual note example. (longer image file) This also serves as an example of the lack of margin control and wide margins/narrow usable note/page space. Not particularly desirable. The smaller image is a screenshot from the Evernote Support Page. I've typed a markup notation in 14pt on the full resolution screenshot of this page. Unnecessarily large, same as the web view for shared notes. Why? Love Evernote, long time paid user, but some of these changes don't make sense. Change for purpose of improvement is welcome. Change for the sake of change is wasteful. Seems like the Developers end up having to reach for ideas just to have something to present, and some of them are a sidestep or step backward, imho. Should be about refinement at this point. Stop trying to innovate constantly; it's unnecessar. Evernote's pretty solid. Some of these changes are all over the place, seemingly without any apparent reason, and it's annoying at times.
